  1. TL;DR - A cam car caught a private hire bus illegally parked at the roadside to packet food which prevented a long vehicle from moving. Long, extended horns were blown but to no avail as the private hire bus driver nonchantly strolls back to his vehicle. To attain your driving license, you need to first pass your BTT, also known as your basic theory test. And to pass it, you need to know that you are not allowed to park on either side of the road, be it single or double white lines. Watch this 74-second video. Apparently, this bus driver did not get the memo. What happened? The cam car, along with other vehicles were stuck in traffic due to a private hire bus parked (illegally) at the side of the road. For what purpose? To dabao food. Yes, you heard it right. What are the odds a long trailer truck would appear at the same time the bus driver grabs his lunch? No chance, right? But, unfortunately, on this day, the bus driver was not so lucky. Stuck in the middle, the trailer truck driver decided to sound an extremely long horn to express his displeasure. However, this did not resolve anything as the private hire bus driver either did not hear it or thought it was for him or he just didn't have any form of urgency and took a stroll back into the vehicle (like a boss) after getting his food. Let’s see what the commenters have to say: Seems like both parties have their fair share of supporters. What about you? 2. TL;DR - As Singaporeans flock into Johor Bahru for Christmas shopping, JPJ were deployed to monitor the activities to improve the effectiveness of enforcement of the roads to Malaysia. As Christmas draws near, Singaporeans get panicky about gift shopping. And that is clearly evident from the number of cars entering into Malaysia, getting fined. Guess we’re really living up to our Singaporean spirit - kiasu. But not quite the kiasi part. The JPJ must be internally screaming joy of happiness as they record the car plates of those who kena saman… yay to more kopi money! Here are some screenshots: Oh man… Another one bites the dust. So what happened? In case you didn’t know, JPJ is basically the equivalent of Singapore’s LTA. They were deployed to the roads at Causeway to manage the traffic crowd during the weekend. Many cars from Singapore entering JB were fined for cutting into the non-existent fast lane… or perhaps it is only visible in their sight? Now their trip is just a wasted one since their fine probably adds up to the cost savings they were expecting from the 1:3.xx ringgit conversion. Better luck next time, fam. Let’s hear from the Internet: Many seem to be asking for heavier penalties on these drivers who jumped the line. What are your thoughts on imposing fine + U-turn back to rejoin the snaking long queue? ========= Be the first to get the latest road/ COE news and get first dibs on exclusive promos and giveaways in our Telegram SGCM Community. 3. Hi all, Unfortunately, I was involved in an accident a few years back, and I submitted the relevant information and let insurance handle. A few months back, I recall receiving a letter regarding a claim against me regarding said accident, and contacted NTUC(my insurer) and was told it will be taken care by NTUC, but I will need to send any lawyer letters to NTUC. 1-2 days back, a lawyer firm had a courier send a lawyer letter to me, but due to personal reasons, I am not in Singapore at the moment, and cannot receive this lawyer letter. They will not be able to contact me on my mobile phone as I do not have roaming activated as well. Can the bros and sis here advise me, if there will be any issues if I cannot be around the receive this lawyer letter until I come back in November this year? I am worried that I may forfeit any rights to contest the lawyer letter as I did not receive it or have ignored it. The sender doesnt even allow my wife to receive on behalf. Thanks all
  4. Did you guys hear about the new submission feature on MCF? Seems like a good way to earn some extra moolahh 🤑 since we're all on the roads already anyway... might as well get paid for seeing interesting things Gotta pass their review to be considered for payment.. I wonder what kind of submissions they accept though?? I see on their Facebook page, they paid people already. Like good money eh? Anyone here tried already? 😶
  5. TL;DR - A Honda Shuttle driver decided it was not the day he waited in line on the way into Malaysia. Unsurprisingly, the car ended up getting rear ended by an oncoming motorcycle. Everyone who has driven into Malaysia would know how shag it is to wait in the ‘cars only’ lane for what feels like eternity. And of course, as humans, we tend to always find the easiest way out. Much like this Honda Shuttle. In this 40-second video, you can witness the aftermath of laziness: So, what exactly happened? The Honda Shuttle driver decided to make his way into the ‘motorcyclist lane’ to avoid the hassle of waiting in his lane. But things do not always go according to plan - a motorcyclist kissed the back of his car, and it resulted in some considerable damage to both parties. Tough luck, my man. It should mean something if there’s no other cars in that lane, so please use your brain and think if you should even swerve over... no? At least for me, I would very much prefer to follow the crowd than to go on the headlines for the wrong reasons. That’s going to cost me my image and also probably a hefty sum of money to get it fixed… But let's dive into what netizens are saying: Oof, the commentators are having fun mocking the driver… ========= Be the first to get the latest road/ COE news and get first dibs on exclusive promos and giveaways in our Telegram SGCM Community. 6. TL;DR = A Nissan NV200 speeds on the wet road, loses control, hits the side railings and overturns on the CTE The speed limit for goods vehicles on expressways is 70km/h. There’s no way that this van was adhering to said speed limit. Watch the minute-and-a-half-long video to see what I mean: What happened At about 0.02, you can see that the van swerves to avoid a car in front of it. Doing so sends the van out of control on the wet road (it’s raining, by the way). It then proceeds to hit the side railings before overturning dramatically on the CTE. A recipe for disaster I have no idea what the driver was thinking. It was raining, and the ground was wet. Visibility could not have been that great. The speed limit for goods vehicles is 70km/h. All the conditions listed above perfectly line up; just waiting for an accident to happen. And true enough, it did! Online Chatter This commenter has a point. Most comments feel that the van driver deserved this. There were some sparks when the van overturned though. Ya lor. ========= Be the first to get the latest road/ COE news and get first dibs on exclusive promos and giveaways in our Telegram SGCM Community. Join us today!
  7. There are days where I am rushing to go somewhere and would like to take a short cut or step on the pedal. However, this Nissan Sylphy driver took the urgency to another level. before the straight road there is a left turn arrow behind. But after watching 421 times of the clip, I still cannot comprehend how did he maneuver until it got stuck in the pedestrian path. The good thing is that the car looks intact and there are no injuries for this incident. Share with me your thoughts on this incident!
  8. It is not everyday that you see a van smash into a fence and consequently flip over into the opposing lane after a drift. Watch this 14 second video and try not to chuckle: Context as to what happened before the video is unclear, but it seems that the van vehicle lost control of his van, failing to control the drift. He then proceeds to crash into the road divider fence and break into the opposing lane, almost causing another accident with an oncoming car. As you can see in this screenshot, the van is at an unrecoverable angle of drift. We can only imagine how freaked out the van driver must be. We also speculate that he might have tried to avoid another car, thus having to swerve his vehicle so violently. The van then lands on its side, almost hitting an oncoming vehicle. Luckily, the driver seems to not have been seriously injured as he was seen moving in the van even after flipping over. A netizen states that vans always drive quickly, but do not have the ability to take corners. This is a true statement that we feel van drivers should be wary of, especially when most of them do not change tyres regularly, resulting in low levels of grip. Another netizen says that van and lorry drivers are increasingly using the fast lanes on highways. He thinks that the traffic police has to up their game in keeping a lookout for such drivers, since they will most likely exceed their 60km/h to 70km/h speed limit there. This comment got us thinking. Maybe Singapore should implement stronger fences to prevent such accidents from happening? Let this video be a reminder to us not to make rash decisions on the road, and to slow down if we are unaware of the situation at bay. Also, we should never overestimate the abilities of the vehicle we are driving, regardless of whether it is a car or van. ========= Be the first to get the latest road/ COE news and get first dibs on exclusive promos and giveaways in our Telegram SGCM Community. 9. With so many videos of serious car accidents circulating around lately, you would think that drivers will learn to pay more attention on the road. Well apparently not for this reckless BMW driver who obviously has no concern about safe driving. Watch the 31-seconds video here and try not to rage: What happened? According to the caption of the video, the incident happened at Sembawang Road at around midnight last night. In the video, we can clearly see that the light has turned red at the 0:11 mark. Drivers and riders that can be seen in the video had either stopped or were slowing down when approaching the traffic junction. With the green light in pedestrian’s favour, the cyclist started to make his/her way across the road as would any of us. Just when the cyclist made about a quarter of his/her way across the road, SEVEN (7) WHOLE SECONDS after the lights had turned red, a BMW can be seen speeding on the middle lane into the frame of the video with NO ATTEMPT to slow down or stop. What the hell? Tragedy Strikes The speeding car smashed into the unsuspecting cyclist before coming to an abrupt halt. The high-speed impact sent the poor cyclist flying from his bicycle and onto the cold hard floor nearby. The video then ends with a nearby motorcyclist approaching the scene seemingly to render assistance. Online Chatter My exact sentiments! Who the hell approved this f*****’s license?! Clearly you are not suitable to be driving if you are BLIND AF. Umm, okay… I, for one, believe that there is no reason ever good enough to have such blatant disregard to road safety at the (possible) expense of innocent lives. If you want to die, don’t drag others down with you la please. Wtf, where the sauce bro?? I have seen my fair share of NON-BMW and MERC who were behaving recklessly on the road as well. It’s not the car, it’s the driver la. Last but Not Least Like what the comments above say, road users PLEASE, for the love of God, exercise caution whenever you are on the road – especially the helpless pedestrians. The green light may be in your favour but some people, like this BMW driver, have issues distinguishing between green and red or may possibly be distracted. Let’s all pray for the cyclist and that the reckless driver gets his/her due punishment! Stay safe and be safe everyone! ========= Be the first to get the latest road/ COE news and get first dibs on exclusive promos and giveaways in our Telegram SGCM Community. Join us today!

  11. TL;DR – A Toyota Vios gets smashed by a motorbike at an uncontrolled junction while attempting to turn right when there was another vehicle impeding its view. Back in your army days, if you had a platoon mate like this Vios driver, you probably would have ‘blanket party’ him for being a ‘sabo-king’. Watch the 42-second video to understand why. What happened? According to the caption of the video, this incident occurred in Clementi Ave 2, at 5pm+ yesterday. A motorcyclist overtakes cam car and accelerates ahead only to go head-to-head with a Toyota Vios attempting to make a right turn at the junction. Use your brain If there’s another vehicle obstructing your view, inch forward to see if there’s any oncoming traffic like normal people maybe? Who in the world ‘cheongs’ without looking? Damages look bad Damages to the motorbike aside, the Vios looks like it got banged up pretty badly too. Good luck with the insurance claims. 12. Everybody hates car accidents---- especially car owners. Usually accidents on the road are caused by the errant drivers themselves.... But what if they were caused by the passenger you just accepted? Had you known of what would soon take place to your precious vehicle, would you still have taken on this passenger? That's right; probably not--- and we bet this PHV driver thinks so too! This dash cam footage from a third-party vehicle showed the moment the passenger door swung open and right into the face of an oncoming taxi. 293443465_548259580365081_7550106539844055768_n.mp4 Oh Boy. Ouch! That, my friends, was just the sound of hearts shattering and wallets shriveling up everywhere... This shows the exact moment of impact: We can only imagine the utter horror of the driver as he heard the sickening thud of his precious Honda door, slamming into the unforgiving exterior of the Comfort Delgro taxi... Criticism incoming: Netizens took to the comment section, making their thoughts known: There were some who provided some valuable insight and advice: And one even asked the pressing question we all want to know the answer to: Naturally, we assume the passenger would be the one paying as it was their fault after all... But again, that is not always the case. One netizen made a rather aptly-worded statement: Expensive, yes, expensive indeed! The total bill for the damages appear to be as stated below: Ack! Oh my heart! How it aches for the wallet involved... What is the moral of this story, if you will? We can agree that such an incident was very unfortunate and the most gut-wrenching part? It could have been easily avoided! A little care and caution goes a long way. I am sure the passenger, taxi driver and the PHV driver would agree. I hope the PHV driver gets his repairs done soon so that he can continue to drive and pick up his passengers on the daily. After all, that is his main source of income. Isn't it astounding how one action can cause so many ripples in the course of life? Just as well, I really do hope the passenger exercises more caution in the future! Not just for their wallet's sake, but for the safety of others too! ========= Be the first to get the latest road/ COE news, and get first dibs on exclusive promos and giveaways in our Telegram SGCM Community. 13. Yes, ALOT is happening in this video, and the title speaks for itself. NGL, I am actually surprised I managed to summarise the entire video within the title itself. Watch it here: What Happened? After entering the AYE, a Honda HRV driver decided to perform something bizarre - he changed lane into a red Lexus ES not once but TWICE, despite having empty pockets of space to switch lanes into. During the second bump, the Lexus ES was forced into lane 2 of the AYE, causing it to cut off a Shopee Xpress van. As a result, the Shopee Xpress van had to brake hard to avoid rear-ending the Lexus ES. However, a motorcyclist riding behind the van could not react in time and smashed into the van, resulting in the motorcyclist flipping over. Idk about you, but the Honda HRV driver ought to be handed some heavy consequences for his actions. It is as clear as daylight that the Honda HRV driver did not bother checking his blindspot before changing lanes at the very last minute, which caused the accidents. Netizens' Comments Likely, the Honda HRV didn't even know about the presence of the red Lexus because he didn't bother turning his head to check his blindspot. I might be wrong, but it seems like the Honda HRV performed a hit and run after side swiping the red Lexus ES twice.... 14. Touch your heart and tell me the worst type of driver on the road - In most cases, it's either car-sharing drivers or the drivers of the lethal red car plate + p-plate combination. IMO, car sharing drivers are the worst type of drivers as they lack both driving experience and skills and also simply don't give a d@mn about the publicly-shared car. Watch this video here: What Happened? A BlueSG leisurely ran a red light signal along Outram Road and got t-boned HARD by another car. The collision was so impactful that it deployed the airbags of the BlueSG vehicle. The BlueSG vehicle sustained some rather major damages, including a dislodged wheel. Similarly, the other vehicle also sustained significant damage, including a badly damaged front bumper that dislodged onto the ground. Thankfully, the driver and passengers seemed fine and emerged from the accident unscathed. Netizens' Comments I'm not the only one who thinks car-sharing drivers are the worst drivers on our road. LMAO this is pretty funny. This got me thinking that there is a possibility where the driver does not even possess a driver's license🤔 Hmmm. ========= Be the first to get the latest road/ COE news, and get first dibs on exclusive promos and giveaways in our Telegram SGCM Community. 15. TL;DR - A Hyundai Tucson reverses into a stationary car at the traffic lights along Esplanade Drive. Plot twist; the Tucson is a Singapore Police Force vehicle. A video of a Singapore Police Force Hyundai Tucson reversing into another car has surfaced on SGRV’s Facebook page. Since its posting around midnight, it has garnered a whopping 203 shares. Watch the 53-second video here: What happening? Image: Hyundai.com.sg The driver of the latest Police fast response Hyundai Tucson does a serious booboo. As mentioned earlier, the cam car and the Tucson stop at a traffic light. However, in a strange turn of events, the Tucson reverses and hits the front of the cam car. I think the Police officer wanted to turn right instead of going straight and did not check his blind spots or rear-view mirror. Does this place look familiar? If you’re unsure of where this takes place, here’s a rough idea of where I think this incident happened. It should be at this junction highlighted above. Another interesting thing After the ‘collision’, the red and blue lights on the Police vehicle suddenly light up. Not sure why. Pretty strange. But one Netizen had a theory. Online Chatter Let’s look at other interesting comments. These comments don’t fail to disappoint. Well, suffice to say, the Police Officer is definitely BBQ-le. ========= Be the first to get the latest road/ COE news and get first dibs on exclusive promos and giveaways in our Telegram SGCM Community. 16. As many of you know, and as written in many of our past articles, errant cyclists who pay little heed to traffic rules are often complained about and mocked online due to them misbehaving on the roads but quickly zipping away after, with no consequences in sight. For this very unfortunate cyclist however, he got the results of flouting the rules---- instantly. Watch the video here to see what I mean: 305035803_1380684175756850_456724399881831999_n.mp4 Horrifying to watch We are well aware that jaywalking and running the red light have their risks, but many of us don't actually get to suffer the consequences. The cyclist may have tried to beat the red light, but ultimately failed, in the worst way possible. He starts out here. Flying down the road, he was soon collided into by the white vehicle, who definitely had ZERO idea that the cyclist was there, and probably had NO way to stop due to the speed. A second later the cyclist was rammed into by the second vehicle, which immediately halted at impact, and like the first car, could not possibly have stopped in time. To these vehicles, it would have been like the cyclist had appeared out of nowhere. The force of the impact caused the cyclist to fly forward and land in front of the second navy blue vehicle. Soon after, the drivers of both cars got out to check on the cyclist. It would be a shocking sight to anyone, including us viewers on the internet. Netizens seem to have a general consensus As you can imagine, the feedback was swift and merciless. This was one of the more civil comments we received that we agree with. We hope the drivers were not penalised as it really was not their fault. Some others crowed in glee, and spared no moment in jeering at the injured cyclist. The user commented that the authorities have yet to come down harder on cyclists that misuse the road. We do hope they take further action soon. Safety first No matter what, nothing is worth rushing on the road and throwing away your life for. Please obey traffic rules as they have been set in place, to avoid bringing harm onto others and especially, yourself. ========= Be the first to get the latest road/ COE news, and get first dibs on exclusive promos and giveaways in our Telegram SGCM Community. 17. I think all road-savvy and up-to-date drivers have heard of the phenomenon known as "accident touters". For those who are not familiar with this term, they are basically people who cause car accidents or wait for car accidents to occur, before rushing forward to offer their workshop services. Shake my head. Recently, such an incident was sighted on the PIE. Watch the video here: Wow, such kind-hearted people. Or is it too good to be true? In the video, we spotted several people quickly approaching after the accident occurred, with one man even trying to CROSS the busy lanes to get to the cars on the other side. Something smells fishy! What do we think? It seems all too suspicious. The waiting cars, the quick-to-approach men... Something isn't right. We concluded, this must be a case of accident touting. Netizens have their say This comment says it all. We have the full picture here and it isn't pretty. People will go to such lengths just to earn money. Another netizen agreed with the comment above. Thank god for car cams and our existing highway cameras. Meanwhile, another two were discussing how to avoid situations similar to this: One commentator weighed in with very good advice to stick to. More helpful advice here. Lastly, one netizen reminded us to give benefit of doubt... Yes, that could be true. Sadly, the world is not as kind and innocent as we used to think it to be... Be on your guard We hope the unfortunate driver caught up in this concocted scenario understood what the touters were trying to do, and did not engage them for his services. Please don't drag other people down with you just for your personal gain. It is a nasty thing to do. Beware of these accident touts! ========= Be the first to get the latest road/ COE news, and get first dibs on exclusive promos and giveaways in our Telegram SGCM Community. Join us today!
  18. Some events are beyond our control, such as getting into an accident with another motorist, due to plain oversight on his part. However, if you were to get into an accident on your own like this Mitsubishi driver, then you only have yourself to blame: What Happened? A Mitsubishi Lancer EX was travelling on lane 2 along Sengkang East Drive when he veered off course, mounted the kerb and crashed into a lamp post, sending it to the ground. The driver then alighted from his vehicle to retrieve items from the back seat and boot of his car. After retrieving his items, the driver hurriedly flees away on foot. But Wait... Just when you thought it was over, the Mitsubishi driver does something else. After fleeing from the scene, the driver decided to "u-turn" and headed back to his car. He began searching high and low inside his car and the surrounding area while appearing to be looking for a specific item. Moments later, he ditches his car again and flees from the scene. Later in the morning, traffic police could be seen at the accident scene, surveying the surrounding neighbourhood and investigating the accident. The Possibilities In all honesty, accidents such as the above could only happen for two possible reasons: (1) Driving under the influence of alcohol; and/or (2) Driving under the influence of drugs. Moreover, the fact that the driver's first instinct was to retrieve his belongings from his car and flee makes him even more sus. Netizens' Comments Brace yourself, we will be hearing this song for a long time. Seems like I am not the only one who thought so. No CCTV also got dash cams and members of the public filming you. Sure tio caught within 24 hours (give or take)! ========= Be the first to get the latest road/ COE news, and get first dibs on exclusive promos and giveaways in our Telegram SGCM Community. 19. Singaporeans in general are quite interesting. When an accident occurs, 99% are quick to whip out their cellphones to film, or to crane their necks just to kaypoh at the scene--- but end up not helping at all! However, this man here is the 1% that actually does try to help. He actually came forward to help direct and guide the flow of traffic in the wake of an accident! Watch the video here: 299188104_441793684671934_6940954086117892199_n.mp4 Wow, really one in a million. I haven't seen anything like this before. It's quite a selfless act, to step up for the community, and under such hot weather too. He was seen directing a bus to come forward: Then a taxi too: As well as other vehicles spotted streaming in: To be honest, we are not exactly sure if the vehicles are actually following his guide and hand signals, but he is sure enthu about it. The public weigh in Netizens, naturally, had something to say despite not being at the scene itself to offer any help: This commentator has a point! The man had a good intention but... If approached wrongly, traffic directing can lead to even more problems and accidents... This comment also agrees with the one above. We like to see people being helpful, but... Hey, we have no comment OK. Both are good also, haha. This comment sums up the general sentiment of many Singaporeans today--- just buat bodoh, and mind your own business (but not before KPO-ing a bit). Good or bad? It's hard to really say whether the man's actions were selfless or foolish. He may have meant well, but if untrained he could really have caused more collisions. At least he had good intentions at heart and tried to step up, though we hope it won't be a case of "yue bang yue mang", or in English, "to meddle and bring on more trouble". ========= Be the first to get the latest road/ COE news and get first dibs on exclusive promos and giveaways in our Telegram SGCM Community. 20. An act of God refers to unavoidable events that are beyond human control. And more often than not, being in an accident is every driver's nightmare, let alone an accident involving the act of God. Watch this 'suay' BMW driver that was involved in such an accident here: WhatsApp Video 2022-08-17 at 9.33.39 AM.mp4 What Happened? The driver of a BMW 116D was driving under bad weather conditions when suddenly lightning struck a tree that he drove past. The lightning strike caused one of the tree branches to collapse onto the German hatchback, resulting in it receiving extensive damage to its windshield, bonnet and side. Thankfully, the BMW driver managed to walk away harm-free from this incident. Insurance cannot claim right? This has to be the first question that comes to mind after watching this video. Fortunately, the BMW driver managed to claim his insurance under "Own Damage (OD)". This means that he only has to pay the OD excess, and his insurance provider will cover the rest of the cost involved. But needless to say, his premium is going to shoot up after this claim. Netizens' Comments Think optimistically🙏✨ Looks like his car number is gonna be sold out for 17th August's draw🤭 The golden question! ========= Be the first to get the latest road/ COE news, and get first dibs on exclusive promos and giveaways in our Telegram SGCM Community. 21. "Wan le wan le wan le, BBQ le" is the most recent trend on social media - Heard of it yet? If you haven't, watch it here: What Happened? While turning out to the main road along Horne road, a Honda Vezel driver failed to stop at a stop-line and rear-ends a motorcycle in front of him. Instead of paying attention and keeping a lookout for traffic in front of him, the Honda driver decided it was a good idea to check for oncoming traffic, despite the presence of a motorcycle in front of him. As a result, the Honda driver accelerated before the motorcycle in front of him moved off and rear-ended it in the process. Frustrated After getting rear-ended by the Honda Vezel, the motorcyclist lost his footing and almost fell to the ground. Meanwhile, his pillion fell straight to the ground and landed on his back. Based on his gestures, the motorcyclist seemed so done with the Honda Vezel driver for committing such a silly mistake, which resulted in the accident. Thankfully, the motorcyclist and his pillion did not seem to be injured. Netizens' Comments There really isn't a way to please everyone😩 wot... Checking for oncoming traffic before the vehicle in front moves off is definitely something most drivers are guilty of. ========= Be the first to get the latest road/ COE news, and get first dibs on exclusive promos and giveaways in our Telegram SGCM Community. 22. Sometimes we encounter mind-boggling sights on the road that leave us scratching our heads. What happened and how did it get there? Recently we spotted yet another such scene circulating on one of our favourite pages: The page had captioned it "You can't park there, Sir." You can watch the video here: 298360005_784581842681174_4396976411540370995_n.mp4 Huh? What the! How can? Immediately, we thought that the car had deliberately parked itself there in the middle of the road. Mystified, we did some sleuthing and re-watched the video, as well as digging through the comment section. Aha! Actually, contrary to the caption, the car was not been parked on the road as an act of obstinate rule-flouting, but had most possibly gotten into an unfortunate collision with a heavy vehicle ahead. We have edited the picture for the readers' better viewing clarity. The said heavy vehicle was spotted ahead, parked on the road shoulder: Furore descends. Many netizens protested at the arguably misleading caption of the page, pointing out the BMW's damages and the presence of the heavy vehicle at the road shoulder. Two commentators were engaged in discussion, regarding the actualities of the sight. Some had already assumed it as their immediate and final stance, that 'Yes, it was definitely an accident!' There was also an overwhelming barrage of netizens pointing out the seemingly obvious: Yet another wave, some expressing exasperation with the caption's assumption: Oh dear... Alright guys, I think we can also see for ourselves. Further explanations Other than the netizens who were not so pleased with the choice of words, there were those who jumped in to account for the context of the caption: As well as this "Oh, I see!" moment: Well, to be very fair, not everyone watches TikTok so not everyone will get the reference, so captions like these can lead to slight misunderstandings. Although, it is also not very ideal to use such a flippant caption when someone was just involved in an accident, with damages incurred and repair fees to pay for. Discretion is important! When reading and viewing content on the internet, its always good to do some further research and scrutiny so that we get the full picture. Just as well, it wouldn't hurt to brush up on our pop culture references. ========= Be the first to get the latest road/ COE news and get first dibs on exclusive promos and giveaways in our Telegram SGCM Community. 23. TLDR; A Mercedes Driver was caught flouting traffic rules and nearly causing an accident with a motorcyclist. This incident occurred at a discretionary turn junction. These junctions are notoriously known for having an increased likelihood of accidents. Below is an incident that proves this point. Watch the video below: 295895533_121486660611877_2490993593266327550_n.mp4 A Mercedes driver was caught on camera failing to give way to a motorcyclist at a discretionary right turn. The motorcyclist only managed to narrowly avoid a collision by braking at the last minute. The motorcyclist appeared ticked off by this and rightfully so. Even I would have felt the same way if I were in his position. Giving thanks to a higher power The motorcyclist posted this recount of the incident on SgRoadVigilante and thanked god that he managed to survive the incident without any lasting damage. Looks like a GLA... right? Judging from the footage, the vehicle looks like a Mercedes GLA, doesn't it? Though the footage is blurry, they do seem similar. \ Unfortunately, the video footage is too blur to make out the license plate of the GLA. Discretionary Right Turns in Singapore This doesn’t seem to be the only time that discretionary turns have caused trouble on the road in Singapore. They do seem to be a common cause of accidents. According to Today Online, there has been an average of around 430 accidents at traffic junctions with discretionary turns for the past five years, which is a whopping amount and is a statistic to take note of. Motorcyclists were also involved in around 40% of those incidents, making them extremely vulnerable to accidents involving discretionary turns. There has even been a plan by LTA (Land Transport Authority) to remove discretionary right turns at most traffic junctions by 2023, meaning that motorists would only be able to turn when there is a green arrow. This makes the decision to turn more straightforward and clear-cut, and hopefully would be able to reduce any further accidents. Netizen Comments Netizens express their take on this near collision incident, mostly criticizing the Mercedes driver, with one even accusing him/her of being a 'kopi license driver', which implies that their license was not obtained legitimately. Driving this recklessly at a right turn junction is just selfish and irresponsible behaviour. ========= Be the first to get the latest road/ COE news, and get first dibs on exclusive promos and giveaways in our Telegram SGCM Community. 24. It appears to be just another normal day in Geylang after footage was uploaded of a near collision between a pedestrian and a speeding motorcycle Just watch the video for yourself below 295004115_2831560283806164_8534743410773785914_n.mp4 The motorcyclist seems to be going down a relatively fast pace on the road in Geylang, narrowly avoiding colliding into the pedestrians that are trying to jaywalk across the road. He had then honked and called out in frustration to avoid a narrow collision before the pedestrians had skittered back to safety. The motorcyclist had seemed extremely angry over the situation, which might make others contend that he may be a bit (大惊小怪), also known as to make a big fuss over nothing, given the fact that jaywalking is extremely commonplace in Geylang. To not have anticipated this kind of behavior could be on him, to be fair. Netizen Comments Netizens chime in as well with their own take on the situation at hand, criticizing both the motorcyclist as well as the pedestrians at hand, though they seem to contend that jaywalking behavior in Geylang is almost commonplace. Netizens criticized both parties, firstly the motorcyclist for driving at a fast pace and reacting badly, as well as the pedestrians for jaywalking. It’s almost like jaywalking at Geylang isn’t a unique sight anymore. Personally, if I were driving along the streets of Geylang, would probably need to be mindful of my surroundings, lest I cause some actual fatalities. ========= Be the first to get the latest road/ COE news and get first dibs on exclusive promos and giveaways in our Telegram SGCM Community. 25. In the early hours yesterday morning, right when many of us would have been waking up and getting ready to go to work, those on the Kranji Expressway were thrown into a panic when this accident occurred: How did it happen? The scenario went like this: the motorcyclist was just going straight ahead. At the far left, some other cars were shifting lanes, moving to the right: Disaster strikes. Unfortunately, the Kia Niro (immediate closest) to the motorcyclist made a rash and foolish decision--- to swerve abruptly. This gave the motorcyclist about approximately a second to react, which wasn't enough, of course. Cue the imminent collision. It didn't stop there, as the force of the sideswipe was strong enough to propel the motorcyclist into the flank of another car ahead; its second collision. The tumble onto the hard tar road was inevitable: Oh my god! Our hearts dropped when seeing this. Thankfully, help arrives. Upon seeing the accident that had just occurred, Good Samaritans also on the road slowed down, or stopped their vehicles to offer assistance. The motorcyclists had slowed down to help a brother in need. The one closest to the fallen rider was also seen trying to lift the heavy motorcycle off of him. Divided opinions. There was an outpour of differing opinions online. Some commentators deduced that the cars were ultimately at fault. Some shared the same sentiment, but with a slightly different take: But it was agreed that the sudden lane change far left had caused the crashes. Yes, we think so too. There were also some less-than-helpful comments, bordering on nasty: Including this Come on man. Was not the biker's fault that he got into an accident. Not cool. Hasty driving has consequences. It is hard to pinpoint and assign fault exactly, but we can say that the abrupt lane change definitely was the direct cause of the motorcyclist collision happening. It is depressing and unfortunate to see the spate of motorcycle accidents as of late, especially the recent Simei lorry incident that sadly claimed the life of another motorcyclist (Rest in peace). We urge all our readers to always stay vigilant and safe on the roads, and we hope this motorcyclist gets better soon. ========= Be the first to get the latest road/ COE news and get first dibs on exclusive promos and giveaways in our Telegram SGCM Community.
