  1. First accident and it involved a SBS bus. Was turning right at junction. Check clear and no oncoming vehicles before turning. The next moment, the bus has collided onto my passenger side. Bus was moving straight at a fast speed and both side traffic are green (no right turn arrow ). Pasenger side front and back panel all crashed. Right rear wheel and rim gone. SBS front bumper dropped off. Understand that majority of fault was mine but not sure how much SBS will claim against AIG. Therefore, would appreciate fellow bros advice on the following: - 1) Anyone have same experience involving SBS bus. Are they very aggresive in claiming third party. 2) Is AIG helpful in settling payment for both own and third party (by SBS). 3) Sent to BM for repair. Heard from them that it will cost ard 10k. Will AIG bear the full amt or will AIG try to get me to pay part.
  2. The wonderfully long and fast 8 lane (4 both ways)jurong buloh was closed off except for one lane on each side of the road this morning as there was a fatal accident. Trailer head without trailer was smashed in the front across the central lane divider. A pickup it crashed into was totaled with a dead person covered lying across 2 lanes. Human body parts was seen along a 20meter stretch of road. Its time for TP to do something with these trailer guys...
  3. I was reversing out from a carpark lot when I heard a couple of horns. I immediately braked and after 1 sec or so, I heard a loud bang... Came down to take a look and exchange particulars with the other party. He was driving a big lorry halfway out of the parking lot. We had initially agreed on reporting. However, as Im still a P-Plate, my dad negociate with him and he has agreed not to report. Now my question is, any good workshop to intro for these repairs? How much would it cost? Rear Lamp gone. Bumper dent and misalign. Boot also misalign. Thanks and regards
  4. You Bros, got into an accident yesterday night. This is my first car and first accident - kanna banged on the side . Minutes after the accident, I call the traffic police and ambulance. I also contact my insurance company (i.e. NTUC Income). my passsengers in the car were sent the hospital, but discharged. As for the other party, nothing...bcoz is a mini-bus. I have also made my report to the Traffic Police this morning, as per the police at the scene last night. Couple of questions: a) Anyone can comment on the procedures I took? in terms of reporting to the police, insurance, etc. b) Care to comment on the cost for repair cost ? - Front passenger door smashed (badly) - Front part of left wheel caved inwards with damage to the body (It is easiler if I can post the picture of the damange. Can someone advise how to post the pic. that is larger than the limited 384kb?) c) I am going to claim the other parties insurance, is it possible ? d) Will my premium go up ? Your feedback and comments are most appreciated. Thank you very the much.
  5. There was an accident along SLE towards BKE just after the Mandai Exit. It invovles 2 cars & a Malaysian Plate Scooter, 1 of which is a purple color Grandis. The Grandis had its rear windscreen smashed into pieces and seems like no physical damange to the rear bumper nor boot whereas for the other car which was brown in color, didn't really have a exact look at it. The Scooter was right behind the 2 cars and the rider had his scooter ending up on his body. The malaysian rider had blood flowing out from his mouth and seemed like no response from him. This is very depressing. RIP. Anyone can spectaculate what happened?
  6. If some of the bros were there, you would ve seen how bad the jam was. Not too long ago, there was another telok jam along lornie road involving a corolla and a mit lancer (i think). Near the accident spot, traffic built up like siao. Everyone was either obediently waiting or trying to filter left right. When I drove pass the accident site.... I was like . The accident vehicles blocked out 2 lanes. Only one lane was free. Accidents are happening a bit too often. Sometimes, being considerate and giving way help to keep the accident rates low. Like a friend said, "Even if you are a minute faster, its not much faster. Might as well drive safe and be more considerate." Being impatient and hot headed only build up blood pressure.
  7. 61 years old women fatally hit by 63 years old taxi driver at Sims Avenue. Crossing the road to MRT station. 50 metres away from the pedestrian crossing. Another case of jaywalking. Just cannot understand why ppl do not just walk a bit more and use the pedestrian crossing. R.I.P.
  8. On my way to work and was stucked in the traffic jam along Jalan Boon Lay towards AYE Traffic was slowed to a crawl 933 reported an accident along the junction of Jalan Boon Lay & International Road Upon coming to that junction, saw the accident A motorcyclist mati-ed on the '+' junction as the body was covered with a blue 'POLICE' tent Saw a 'Green Coloured' cab with damages on the passenger side which was stopping at the extreme right lane jus a couple of metres away from the corpse and the badly crashed motorcycle 1 TP & a police car were already there when i reached the scene My condolences to the deceased & the family Drive safely Bros & Sis
  9. My wife got into a small car accident with another vehicle. The repair will costs less than $200 and i feel this is not worth to go through the insurance so we have agree to settle this privately. In order to protect both parties, we need a settlement agreement so there will be no future claims on this incident. Will appreciate if anyone has a template readily available for my reference. Thanks in advance.
  10. My uncle was involved in an accident which claimed his life. The accident happened on Monday, 14 Apr 08, at about 5:05pm. Location is along the slip road turning out from TPE towards ECP/PIE after the junction of Loyang Way. Police have told us that it was a self-inflicted accident because there were no stretch marks on the road. However, we insisted to keep the case open and that it was most likely a hit-and-run as the impact was so great, my uncle was thrown into the drain and had very serious injuries. He had a broken skull, which left him brain dead, broke 4 ribs, which pierced into his lungs and a broken neck. He was found without a pulse but was revived on the way to hospital, where he laid unconscious for 2 days before he passed away. My grandmother is very depressed since his accident and his death had caused his family much grief. I appeal to the public to call the traffic police at 1800-5471818 if you have witnessed this horrible accident. Pls help to post this notice in other forums if you can too. Thank You. Alex Loh on behalf of my uncle, Mr Loh Choe Kee. Rest In Peace. Reports from the Chinese papers, 20 April 08

  14. ST 13/4 Claims are sometimes larger than those for repairs, and they are driving premiums up Motor insurers, which have been battling the scourge of inflated repair bills for years, are now facing a new monster: injury claims arising from road accidents, and not all of them appear to be genuine. Industry players said the claims, which are sometimes many times larger than those for vehicle repairs, are costing insurers an arm and a leg in payouts and driving premiums up for motorists. One leading insurer said it received on average 300 injury claims a month last year - more than double the 140 a month it received in 2006. Another top motor insurer, Axa Insurance, said its volume this year has already exceeded last year's by up to 20 per cent, with whiplash, cuts and abrasions forming the bulk of claims. 'There is a worry about a rising trend in orchestrated injury claims,' Mr Derek Teo, president of the General Insurance Association (GIA), told The Sunday Times. 'Very often, they would pertain to whiplash, which is hard to substantiate or refute.' Last month, the GIA announced an initiative which it hopes will reduce inflated claims. From next month, motorists involved in an accident will have to inform their insurers within 24 hours. Industry sources said this was because people were less likely to lie or would have fewer opportunities to collaborate with workshops to submit inflated claims within the first 24 hours of an accident. But observers pointed out that the new plan would not address rising injury claims, which were sometimes filed days after an accident. Police statistics show that over 44,000 people were 'slightly injured' on the road between 2003 and last year. The annual figure crossed the 10,000-mark last year to hit 10,250 - 30 per cent more than in 2003 and outpacing the 16.5 per cent growth in vehicle population since then. Private investigator Louis Amalorpavanathan of GLA Claims Adjusting and Investigation Services said injury claims have shot up over the last year. He blamed lawyers. 'Most insurance companies are now encouraging direct settlement for repair claims, bypassing lawyers who used to be involved,' he said. He explained that this resulted in less business for some lawyers who specialised in accident claims, prompting them to scour for injury cases to represent. Lawyer Monoj Kumar Roy, 47, had this to say in retort: 'That's an unfair statement. Many people in the past did not know they could claim for injuries. How can lawyers drive injury claims if there are no injuries?' He added: 'Admittedly, there are odd cases of fakes. If insurers think there is no injury, they should fight the case and get it thrown out.' Another new development could affect the business of lawyers. As of last month, disputes arising from non-injury motor accident claims below $1,000 are no longer heard in court. Instead, they go straight to the Financial Industry Disputes Resolution Centre (Fidrec), an independent resolution centre set up in 2005. The Sunday Times understands the $1,000 cap may be reviewed - and possibly raised - in future. According to industry sources, the Subordinate Courts may soon make a similar move to outsource injury claim disputes to Fidrec because the number of such cases had exploded. The Subordinate Courts said a workplan rolling out soon would include changes in this area, but declined to go into details of injury claims being handled now. The move to divert non-injury accident claim disputes to Fidrec is expected to shave about 1,000 cases off the courts' workload.
  15. April 2, 2008 Man arrested for faking as 'accident victim' to cheat drivers A MAN has been arrested for trying to get compensation from at least two drivers after falsely claiming that they had knocked him down. Police said on Wednesday a woman in her 40s was driving her car onto Lorong 27 Geylang from Sims Avenue on Tuesday at about 11 pm when she heard a loud bang at the rear of her vehicle. She stopped to check. A man sitting by the road claimed that she had knocked into him. The driver wanted to send him to hospital for treatment, but he refused. Instead, he demanded $200 compensation. Police were called. The man was arrested on the spot. Earlier that night, police received a call from another driver, in his late 30s, who said he had met with a similar situation at Lorong 19 Geylang at about 9.30pm. The driver had offered to send the alleged victim to hospital, but the man refused and insisted that the driver give him money in return. When the driver said he would call the police, the man quickly left. Police advise those who may have fallen prey to similar scams to make a report. The suspect, a 32-year-old Chinese man will be charged in court on Thursday for cheating. http://www.straitstimes.com/Latest%2BNews/...ory_223111.html

  18. Hi bros and sis, A motorcyclist knocked into the back of my car this morning, Monday at 810am along Clementi Ave 6 towards ECP (Just after the PIE exit into Clementi Ave 6, opp the PDF camp). The morning traffic was very slow along that stretch of road and another car, a Grey Benz (old model) was also involved. My car was stationery in the jam when I heard a "bang" sound. Turned around a saw someone (or thing) falling down. Engage parking brakes as well as hazard lights, got down the car to take a look and saw this motorcyclist getting off the road with the grey benz very close to him. I am not sure though if the benz did knocked into him. I directed both the parties to move their vehicles to the side of the road to discuss further. I got into my car and moved my car towards the side of the road. Just as I was getting down from my car, the benz zoomed off . I asked the indian motorcylist if he was alright, he said he was ok but I noticed that he was bleeding from his hands. Advised him to quickly see a doctor. At that moment, I totally forgotten about my car damages. I asked him if he got the benz number, he said he did not and he sounded worried thereafter. He also pointed to an oil patch on the road that may have caused him to slip while braking. We exchanged our numbers and he told me he will pay for my damages. Only then I remembered my car, I turned to look at my car, the bumber was dented with stratches and the rear lights casing smashed. I trusted him at the moment and seeing him bleeding, I had no heart to pursue with his details and did not take any photographs. If any bros here saw the accident and the benz driver's car plate number, please PM me. I hope to provide the motorcyclist the number when he calls me later. Thanks for hearing.
  19. My relative was knocked down by a Sliver colour sedan with car plate number 8961, at Toa Payoh Lorong 4 near the Church at around 16 50 at 07/04/2008. He was too stunned to remember the letters. The driver drove off without rendering any help. There were 2 eyewitness (middle aged aunties) but they say the plate was SQI8961 (not possible). Is there a way to ID the car/owner based on these observations alone? Thanks
  20. Photos owner said car racing another white car before the accident. After accident, both driver and front passenger ran away from the accident scene.
  21. Police were called. The man was arrested on the spot . . . . . ] Won't be surprised if he's a Foreign Trash import from China. Happened to my sis once. Was driving out from her office compound when one Chinaman riding a bike on the walkway appeared and fell down in front of her car. Said my sis had bumped his bike, asked for medical expenses. My sis called her male colleagues and the bugger scooted off when they appeared.

  24. Around 11pm, me and wife decided to go for supper (after 4 kids have slept). Left Hougang Central and head towards CTE. Around 11:15pm, stop on the center lane along Hougang Ave 2 & Ave 8 junction as traffic light is red for me. Light turn green and suddenly a old uncle start to cycle along the pedestrian crossing from my left, I stop and quickly take a quick glance at my right side mirror. A red Mz3 on my right lane wasn't slowing down when approaching the junction, I quickly blast my horn (2 pairs of Steble Magnum + 1 stock disc = 5 horns) at the uncle cyclist and he stop momentary and lucky wasn't knock down my the Red Mz3. Before I move off, I shouted to the uncle in hokkien "uncle, red light don't cross, uncle, very dangerous ah!!!" here is the video taken from my N95 and just to let you all know, the handphone is mounted on a holder all the time when I drive.
