  1. Not so long ago, Japanese automaker Honda introduced the new 9th generation Honda Accord. However, it seems that Honda has yet to be satisfied as the company has introduced another variant of its luxury sedan, the Honda Accord Hybrid. The launch took place on 21st June 2013 in Japan. On this occasion, Honda took the privilege to launch two versions at the same time. The first version is the pure hybrid version which makes use of the so-called Sport Hybrid i-MMD (intelligent Multi-Mode Drive) drivetrain. Another version is the plug-in hybrid version. The Japanese automaker claims that the pure hybrid version will reach 30km/L in terms of fuel efficiency. As for the plug-in hybrid version, Honda claims it has what it takes to reach 70.4km/L. I believe what plays an important role in this case is the fact that the driver can choose to max out the electrical power with the plug-in hybrid version. It also seems likely that Honda will apply the Sport Hybrid i-MMD drivetrain to its upcoming models. And, with the launch of the Honda Accord Hybrid, Honda is offering no less than three driving modes. If the driver chooses the first driving mode, only electrical power will be used when the car is standing still, moving slowly, or when it is running at an average speed. It is only when the speed starts to climb higher that the car will switch to its gasoline engine. With the second mode, the gasoline engine will directly start using the generator provided in order to supply energy to the electrical motor so that the car can move. This will also give the car maximum acceleration. Then, with the last driving mode, the car will count on its gasoline engine to help the car run at its maximum reachable speed. Conveniently, the driver can also choose to turn on all of the driving modes. This seems more suitable to new drivers, I believe. Choosing this option will give a fuel efficiency of 30km/L in average. The Honda Accord Hybrid uses a lithium-ion battery which, if fully filled, will ease the driver's mind in terms of refueling or recharging up to 37.6km! It's quite a far distance to enjoy driving a luxury Japanese sedan and forget about juice, isn't it? However, unfortunately, Honda seems determined to only rent the plug-in hybrid version of the Honda Accord Hybrid while it is offering the pure hybrid version for sale already.

  5. The US Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) has released data on the top safety picks for 2013. All the vehicles tested belong to the 2013 model year. This year, the IIHS came out with a new award on top of the usual TOP SAFETY PICK award. Called the TOP SAFETY PICK+ award, vehicles must earn good ratings for occupant protection in at least 4 of 5 evaluations, and no less than acceptable in the fifth test in order to earn it. The models award the TOP SAFETY PICK+ award are mostly mid-sized sedans. They include the Acura TL, Chrysler 200, Dodge Avenger, Ford Fusion, Honda Accord Sedan/Coupe, Kia Optima, Nissan Altima Sedan, Subaru Legacy, Subaru Outback, Suzuki Kizashi, Volkswagen Passat and the Volvo S60. The models underlined are available for sale in Singapore. The 2013 Honda Accord sedan should be making its debut locally in the coming months. If you are looking for a 'certified' safe car to ferry your family, do check them out. Honda Accord Kia Optima Subaru Legacy Suzuki Kizashi Volkswagen Passat Volvo S60
  6. Honda has announced that the Civic Type R is coming back and it will feature a turbocharged engine. There were many cars that were given the Type R moniker and the Civic was not the first one. Let us take a look at the cars that were given the Type R treatment. In the first part of this article, I will focus on the NSX and Accord models. The very first car that was given the Type R moniker was the NSX. The NSX Type R was basically a stripped out model that was heavily focused for track usage. Many parts were removed and some were replaced with lightened ones. And Honda managed to remove around 120kg from the base car. The NSX Type R was fitted with a 3.0-litre engine which made around 280bhp and is able to complete the century sprint in 4.8 seconds. Honda produced 483 units of the NSX Type R and it is available only in the Japanese market. A second generation, known as the NSX-R, was released ten years later and the car had several differences. One of the main exterior differences was the headlights. The pop-up lights of the previous model were replaced with a normal one. The NSX-R's engine is slightly bigger in displacement, just 200cc more. Although the engine is bigger but the horsepower is still the same as previously but it produced more torque. This enabled the car to sprint from 0-100km/h in 4.4 seconds. The second generation NSX-R was also exclusively made for the Japanese market. For the Accord models, the first Type R example was the CH1 Accord Type R and the CL1 Accord Type R. The CH1 Accord was made for the UK and EU market while the CL1 model was sold in the Japanese market. Both models were fitted with the 2.2-litre H22A engine. The CH1 engine made around 210bhp while the CL1 delivered around 220bhp. Both cars were fitted with stiffened suspension systems, a limited slip differential, twin piston brakes and were given Recaro seats and a Momo steering wheel. The CH1 Accord Type R completes the century sprint in 7 seconds and the CL1 Accord Type R was slightly faster with 6.9 seconds. The next Accord Type R was the CL7 Accord Type R. The car was built in Japan and was made available exclusively for the Japanese market. The car was fitted with the highly tune-able 2.0-litre K20A engine, which was also fitted in the DC5 Integra Type R and FD2 Civic Type R. The engine delivered around 220bhp and had a torque of around 206Nm. The CL7 Accord Type R roughly received similar Type R goodies as the previous generation. In the second instalment of this article, I will write about the Integra and Civic Type Rs.
  7. [extract] Honda has introduced plans which will bring changes to its vehicles. The Japanese auto company wishes to improve the fuel efficiency of its cars and the changes include the introduction of continuously variable transmissions (CVTs) into its future models and also the introduction of a new
  8. I had been driving this 'beauty' to me at least for e last 3 years plus. Thou it not a very powerful car but am enjoying e handling and comfort of this car. 10. A car driven over a million miles is not something we hear that often. Even one driven over half a million miles is pretty rare and when I heard about this story of a vehicle mechanic who have drove his Honda Accord over a million miles, I just had to share this with everyone as it is something rather amazing. The owner of this fourth generation Accord is Joe LoCicero, nicknamed
  11. October 24 1990 Honda Accordreaches million mile mark BY KELLEY BOUCHARD SACO -- Joe LoCicero's 1990 Honda Accord slipped into a parking spot in front of City Hall with its engine purring, much as it did two decades ago after it rolled off the assembly line in Marysville, Ohio. LoCicero, a resident of the town of Norway, was honored with a surprise parade and given a 2012 Accord on Sunday afternoon after racking up more than 1 million miles on his trusted older model, nicknamed "True Blue" for its light-blue exterior. LoCicero, 53, is the first person documented by the car manufacturer to have driven a Honda to the million-mile mark, according to a company spokeswoman. "If you listen carefully, she's getting old," LoCicero said, "but it's been an amazing ride." Known as "Million Mile Joe" through a recent advertising and Web campaign, LoCicero is a master auto technician who travels throughout Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont inspecting vehicles for warranty claims and lease terms. Honda and Darling Auto Group sponsored the parade down Main Street, which featured marching bands from Westbrook High School and Saco Middle School and varsity cheerleaders from Biddeford High School. "Joe is a testament to what you can do if you maintain your car," said Ron Russell, Darling's director of operations in Bangor. "Thankfully, not many people do it, or we'd be out of business." Russell learned of LoCicero's impending milestone in August 2010, when the car had clocked 938,000 miles. He informed Honda's advertising agency, which set up a website, millionmilejoe.com, where he has chronicled his story. The agency chose downtown Saco to hold and record Sunday's celebration because of its classic New England appearance. Local teens made the floats and costumes featured in the parade, including an oversized odometer and pine tree air freshener. A plane flew above, trailing a banner that said, "Way To Go Joe!" Miss Maine USA Julia Furtado helped to deliver the cobalt blue 2012 Accord. "I like it," LoCicero said, grinning as he sat in the new car. LoCicero bought the older Honda in 1996, when it had 74,000 miles on it. He kept it running with diligent maintenance, keeping track of every fill-up, tire rotation and oil change in a couple dozen notebooks. "Every car needs maintenance," LoCicero said, recommending that drivers follow maintenance schedules, use quality parts and drive safely. He does much of the work himself, having been an auto mechanic for 18 years before becoming a vehicle inspector. "He'll be out there, underneath the car, on a blanket in the middle of winter," said Sharon LoCicero, his wife of 32 years. They have two children and two grandchildren. Through the years, the car's seat belts, steering wheel and upholstery have worn out and been replaced. The fuel pump blew at 741,000 miles, drawing laughter from his children when it had to be towed. "They thought it was the funniest thing that it finally broke down," Joe LoCicero said. He swears that the engine and transmission are original. "I took the engine apart once to clean it for a carbon issue and put it back together," he said. LoCicero's Accord has traveled about 48,000 miles per year. The average car travels 10,000 to 15,000 miles per year, said Russell, of Darling Auto Group. At that rate, it would take at least 66 years to reach LoCicero's 1 million mark, which equals about 40 times around the Earth. LoCicero said he's not sure what he'll do with the 1990 Accord now that he has a new model, also made in Ohio. He's tried to sell the older model to a few car dealers recently for $1 million, hoping they'd want to display it to advertise the longevity of Honda vehicles. "A buck a mile. That's fair," LoCicero said. "I didn't get any bites." The electronic odometer in the old Accord turned over 1 million miles on Thursday. Now, it says LoCicero has driven it 75 miles. "I'm starting all over," he said.
  12. Hi fellow drivers, need your help to let me know if you know any scrape-yard workshop selling used car-boot(Honda Accord JDM model). Appreciate if the name, address/location and contact number can be shared if you happened to know any. Thank in advance to all that helps.
  13. Which is your pick?I did not test drive i45 but i am not really fond of its looks. K5 looks awesome and the drive is reasonably engaging though not on a par with Accord and Mazda 6. Accord is a bit small compared to Civic. Mazda 6 is my personal choice in terms of design and driving.
  14. hi.. My dad has been driving his Mondeo for 6 yrs ... Now he is considering for his ride between these 2 cars ... I would like to know your views ....

  16. To the owner of Dark Grey Honda Accord (Kahs Motor) SGM4**0M on 18 Sept Saturday about 11.20pm (Yesterday) at Jalan Lengkok Sembawang (Behind Chong Pang Nesi Lemak), i witness you crashing on to the front bumper of a Silver Honda Odyssey while trying to do a 3-point turn. As i saw u getting nervous trying to escape while i and my friends starring at you, you quickly zoom away and almost bang my friends while trying to reverse! We began writing a note to the poor victim's car. At this moment, you drive back again as i know that u will be guilty and will try to remove the note if we place it on the windscreen. But we waited patiently for the owner to come back but thank god! the owner happened to stay nearby and i pass him all your details (number plate, colour and model) to him and he thank me for that. I was so angry that u didn't check your blink spot and almost hit my friend!

  20. From OneMotoring, the 2.4L Accord OMV is around $33K. Why it is so high for a Tomyam made car?
  21. There's a reason car thieves prefer run of the mill vehicles like the Honda Accord over flashier metal. With thousands of the things running the roads of every city in America, it's nearly impossible for law enforcement to track down one car out of the masses. And that's nearly exactly what the NYPD told Amanda Pogany three years ago when her 1996 Accord was stolen. Then something unexpected happened. During a recent raid on a chop shop, the police turned up Pogany's car, though it had changed somewhat from the last time she saw it. The individual who bought the stolen Honda from the thieves had completely worked it over. Not only did Pogany find a new engine under the hood and new wheels on each corner, the car had been converted from an automatic to a manual transmission. Police estimate the car is now worth quite a bit more than when it vanished back in 2007. Sadly, the Accord's rightful owner hasn't taken it for a spin just yet. Ironically, Pogany doesn't know how to drive stick, and she's currently fighting through the mountains of red tape involved with getting a new VIN and re-titling the car.
  22. just a curious question..... Cause today a Honda Accord, cant tell if it was Euro R cause very dark at night already with not much lighting ard.. had twin exhaust and many gauges... came out of a carpark into the main road (2lanes only), in the middle of 2 lanes... i thought he maybe huge tyres need BIG angle to turn out... so i expected him to filter back to his own lane... but no, drive in the middle of 2 lanes, expecting me to brake and give way... nope, did not want to waste my brake pads... so i just engine brake and honk 2 short blast... bork bork... in the end i had to slow down so no issue... but i was just wondering to myself on the way home.... wat kind of drivers are Honda Accord drivers??? i am sure there's no 'correct' type of driver for a type of car... but i know 'most probably' type of driver for a type of car... eg... if you drive a QQ... probably you are........... cannot afford a better car if you drive a Golf GTI... probably you are........... boy racer, yuppie... i would say got taste... if you drive a Hydunai Accent.... probably you are...... a car is just a means of transportation... if cerfeiro... blah blah blah.... if tis if that... YES CORRECT ITS DEFINATELY NOT ALL TRUE, but probability of the sterotyping of the certain kind of driver to a car does exsist... from the car enthusiasts wif passion for cars... to the regular car who drives just to get from point A to B....... so my question is.... what kind of ppl drive a Honda Accord Euro-R??? young punks/yuppies?... then why not get civic type r / DC5? faster n lighter... uncles?... cerferio and camry got more luxury stuff..... some of you probably think i damn boliao... but i am just wondering WHO can i associate the euro-r (real or fake) with... during the early days when Garage R 1st brought in the euro-r, i loved it and always thought only a car enthsiast would drive this car.... but now....... haiz....
  23. Hi Bro/ Sis, I would like to know if anyone is currently driving or used to own a Accord (CL7/ CL7A). Can share what is the FC and state your rims size. Thank you!
  24. Was coming home and saw this Black accord at the junction of YCK road and Serangoon North. Totally GONE CASE. His radiator water leaking, 4 tyres burst and resting on the rims, bumper fly everywhere. From the direction, I think he wanted to kup that right turn coming from YCK road. Pls look out for a black or whatever Accord CL7 in the second hand market. The car , in my humble opinion, should be written off. Engine totally gone!
