My 1 year old Volvo got hit by Merc E-class Car plate SJH6886K while parked in NUH basement Carpark. Carparked properly in lot, and the Merc side hit my car while reversing. I super suay, the idiot didnt leave a number or contact, i thought CCBKNN the fcuker got away..... then an uncle suggested to go see Carpark security office. I managed to get the security guys there to help me out. Manage to see the accident on video (they had like 100 plus camera there). I also got the carplate number and made police report. Also had side face photo of the fcuker. I went to Volvo repairs (under my insurance panel AIG authorized workshop). I was told that I had 3 options 1. pay up front and don't claims insurance, otherwise my NCD get hit, and my excess is $1400 . Was quoted 3k to change front bumper and car plate. Maybe able to claims against the other car but need to pay own lawyer fee ~$500 2. claim own insurance, NCD get hit 30% and still need to pay excess and try to claim against the other party with lawyer. 3. wait for TP to sort out before repairing so don't have to pay out any money outfront. If no one caught or the other party dont make report, I cant claims..... 4. superglue repair myself. my car plate now using blue tac to glue back on Any advice? Should i try other channels to get ppl to contact the owner to "persuade" him to make report and do the right thing? repair is 1 week - at least can get relief car :angry:

Hi all, I am contemplating to change to a 2005 cefiro 2.3l. I used to drive my dad's cefiro 99 model. Tiink A32 model. Really miss the creamy smooth v6 engine. Remember the FC was 7-8km/l range. Tried to google ard for more fc info and got different feedbacks. Some got 6-7km/l, others got 9-11km/l. I am ok if it can average ard 8-9km/l. Anything more is bonus. Another concern is the maintenace. With the car ar its 6th yr, are there anything to look out for? The previous A32 was easy to maintain cos its very mechanical still but i dunno abt the 230jm. All inputs welcome..

Husband in mid 50 is unable to pay off credit card loan of 60k, their 3 room hdb flat had been fully paid off. Here the question guys, what can the bank take from their home, old clothes underwear old cupboard ? They got a 11yr daughter if that the case will they take her shoes and toys laptop and bed also. Some of the item are bought by the monther so how to prove ? -

hi, any new Mazda2 owner here? Any feedback on your FC? Heard some say can do 12km/l, some say can do 14km/l... saw a PI brochure with claim of 24km/l and how's the overall experience like in terms of handling, comfort etc? My OC took a look the other day and comment that the car got no storage space.

I had booked air tickets to Perth in April for 10 days. Planning to do a road trip. I like free and easy. As this is my first time to Aus, would like to find out more. Few questions: 1. Visa, When should I get it done? What are the charges and procedures? Can it be done online? 2. Transport. I am looking to rent a car but on second thoughts, was considering a camper van which I can stay in. Is it safe? 3. Attractions to recommend? Skip the bustling city please. I want something peaceful and relaxing. Prefer sea view, landscapes. What are the must see locations? Trip advisor seems to recommend alot on museum (no no for me, I might fall asleep). There are so many choices and I guess I might not have the time to do all the sightseeing. Is Rottnest worth 1-2 days? Accommodations? I know it is a bad idea to only walk in and do bookings but as we are doing road trip it becomes a hassle to do any advance bookings. (Back to question of camper van) I had been given some advice by friends not sure how true it is: Do not drive after 5-6 pm (Dangers such as kangaroo or lousy view) Doing road trip, just randomly walk up to backpacker inns Lastly, please recommend me places for cheap seafood!! Especially oysters!!

Hi folks, I need some advice here and I'm not sure does it really helps in my decision making but still wana give a shot and try. For some reason I inherited a sum of 45k. Tat makes me very excited and first thing that came into my mind is to change to a brand new car. Logically I shld not as I am not rich and this $$ though not a lot but will comes in handy and one day might save my arse if my housing repayment fail if for some reason if me or my wife loses our job. I mean anything can happen. But becos my believe is that if a person got too much to worry about or think about he will never enjoy life as there are too much restrictions in life for life is so short. 1) Shld I just dump all of this 45k on a brand new car and enjoy the luxury of owning a brand new car or shld I restrict myself and keep it for raining days? 2) my thinking was that becos of the ruling, we are force to pay 50% and a 5 to 6 yrs loan, tat means if I reAlly need cash badly, if I sold away the car, I shld lose 50% of my down payment (at least) I won't ended up owe the bank money right? 3) is it the right time to get a car now cos a lot of them days wait till CNY. A little background info of me: Currently driving a stream and if I sold away my car I can take back approx 20k so add on to my current 45k is enough for the new ride. Appreciate your advice on this Thks

Dear forumers, thanks for taking time to read my story. hope you can provide me with some solutions and advice on how 2 handle my debtor. what happen was a friend that i've known for 5 years approach me asking for a loan of 10k to help him with his investment. he assured me that once his loan from the bank was approved he will return me the money which he said was about 2 weeks. in addition, he showed me prove that he was also selling his HDB by showing me his post in Propertyguru, saying that he will have the money in no time. being naive, i borrow him the 10k with a IOU stating that he will return me the money as soon as his bank loan is approved. 2 weeks passed and i had yet to hear from him. so i called him up and he start giving alot of excuses saying that the renovation loan was delayed as the banker need to visit his premises to ensure that the renovation was done etc. however, i found out who the banker was through my own means and after talking to the banker. i realised that his loan has been disbursed to him! to make things worse, i contacted his property agent and ask how is his property doing. to my dismay, the property agent said the owner rejected an offer of 330k! ( his price to sell is 340k). now it has been about 4 months since i borrowed him the money but he has yet to return me a single cent. i have considered getting a debt collector to collect back the money but i understand that it is not a guaranteed procedure. the debt collectors will only go up and ask for the money the debtor until he give up.i have also approached lawyer but the fee is 4k to sue him to court. i am at my wits end as i do not know what to do. i have the IOU with his signature. after discussing with lawyers he said my case is 90% win(provided the guy dun declare bankrupt). this has been a traumatic an painful learning experience not to trust people too much.... Appreciate if some brothers give me advice? am open to any low cost methods to collect back my money! thanks in advance!!!

Hi Wondering if you guys have any suggestions as what can be done to help resolve the issue. My dad bought a second hand merc from a car dealer at Commonwealth. He liked it and we discussed the details. After which, I had requested that they write on the document that they will provide a six month warranty for the car. They told me that They could not do so as that document is to be submitted to IRAS. Huh? Then when the inspection report came back, it was stated that the muffler was not approved and they were asked to remove the two mufflers. However when we went to collect the car, the mufflers were all there. The lady said not to worry, if inspection does not pass, can look for them again. Huh?? Again I requested for her to write down the warranty period but she said she couldn't in the document . after assuring us that all is ok, we left with the car. Now after driving for less than a month, we noticed that the aircon blows hot and told intermittently. I asked the agent and They said it is part of wear and tear. I asked if They did a proper check of the car and if They did, this shouldn't happen at all. Now she says she will "talk to her boss" to see how to help. Am just wondering if we have any case for insisting that they repair the aircon Since we have only driven it less than a month. Did any of you ever encounter such a matter? Hope to get your advice ..thanks in advance !

Thinking of going for a holiday in Langkawi in Dec. with family. I presume there is a flight from Sin to Langkawi. Is it better to stay in Resort or Hotel ? Is it better to go Free and Easy or Package tour ? How many days would be enough ? Any kind soul to shere the above ?

This problem only occur recently, need advice from bro here to prevent being smoked by workshop. When I park under hot sun for quite long, the aircon will just blow out hot air, need to drive a while and on again before the cold air comes out. After that it will work normally. This only happens after parking under hot sun. Any advice what might be wrong here?

When I got my used car, realize it has 2 of this round thing at the dashboard one on each side. My friend said it is for speakers but I have no idea how to go about mounting any speakers on it. Anyone knows what it is?

Earlier this year my wife was in a cab.... a lorry side swiped the cab... my wife mouth torn and hands bruised... now the lawyer that my wife used is the same lawyer as the taxi driver.... the other party offered 50 50.... and proposed an amount that my wife willing to accept the problem is the lawyer dont want to settle it as he said the taxi driver dont want and cause of that he cant settle my wife case... he said if mybwife accept 50 50...the taxi driver will be affected...but the case is beginning of the year..... the lawyer said other solution is to find another lawyer... i am lost now...is there anyone who can help... i told the lawyer if get new lawyer then how legal fees..he said that can be sorted... really need help

I just got into an accident. Back taxi failed to stop and ram onto me , resulting me banging onto front taxi vehicle. So if my case now, do i need to pay for excess if i proceed to claim for insurance. Front taxi damage quite jialat. Any benefit if i see doc and get 3 days mc?

Hihi, see these 6-edge star screws in the attached pic, it's at the B-Pillar to hold the mechanism for the lock on the car door to latch. It's now loose, any ideas where to get such screw drivers? Or if most workshops will have the screws to help screw back?

Starting this topic to help me choose new tyres. I will also share my experiences with tyres I had used in the past. Car: Honda jazz 1.3 Existing tyres: Some BF Goodrich tyres 195/50/15, 5 mths old These are very noisy tyres, performance is ok. But I need quiet comfortable tyres and I drive very non-aggressively. Tyres I had used before, all 195/50/15 or 195/55/15 size: Bridgestone GR80 and GR90: Meets my comfort requirements and performance no issue. Expensive, and I prefer to try tyres I had not used before. Hankook v12evo: Performance ok, very noisy Goodyear efficient grip: Good comfort tyres, but it suffered from cracks after about 1 year. My conclusion is that the cracks were caused by some tyres foam spray that I used which contains sillicon. Some articles say do not use sillicon on rubber tyres as they can cause drying and cracking. See my thread http://www.mycarforum.com/topic/2689385-need-advice-tyre-has-cracks/ I am thinking of using 195/60/15 or even 195/65/15 tyres. The "thicker" tyres might give more comfort, is this advisable? Remember that I am non-aggressive driver so the wet/dry performance and cornering (sidewall strength) is less critical. You can guess from the way I reviewed my previous tyres above. Comfort and quietness is everything. Tyres which I have shortlisted: Toyo T1R Continental CCC5, CPC5 What is the difference between these 2? Michellin XM2 Please let me know your opinions, thanks.

Hi Guys, To cut things short, my parent's maid ran away after working for one day. She left the house approx. yesterday's afternoon 3PM while i was in the room. Leaving a note telling us that she can't work with us, her letter before she come working for us stated that she only take care of kids and she can't tahan my grandma's scolding. 1.) Levy already paid 2.) Agency already paid 3.) Runaway maid insurance already paid 4.) Normal insurance for maid already paid 5.) Work permit already in process I already made a police report filing all information's/details about this maid. I have also called up the maid agency and have to wait for their call if the maid return to them. However, i have some concerns on the above. This maid is a transferred maid. She held WP from her ex-employer and not us. Her WP for working with us is still in the process. She officially work for us yesterday although she came on Wednesday night to take over/learn how to take care of my grandma until last Saturday my previous maid last day. If the runaway maid return to agency, will i get the refund on levy, agent fees, insurance fee? I also understand from a friend that maid cannot start working w/o a valid working permit. But previously, all my maid came to our place to work first and only after a week then their WP reaches us. If maid agency refuses to refund us on the insurance, agent fee and levy, what should i do? First of all, we did not force the agency for a quick maid to take over although we did state that we urgently need one as my previous maid is sick, last day and work permit expire on last Saturday. The agency also knew that we are looking for a maid that take care of elderly but the agency insist this runaway maid is good (show us recommendation letter from previous employer) and capable of living/taking care of my grandma. Can i counter sue/complaint that the agency recommended this runaway maid? And lastly, the chances of refunding will be high or low? I understand that agency has the rights NOT to refund any single sum. It's so frustrating as this is the first time i encountered this kinda problem. Thank you guys for the advices!

My Lancer EX 1.5A has stalled twice recently (once today and once last week). Both times, the car stalled when moving off after stopping at a junction. I did not change gears away from D and kept my foot on the brakes at the junction. I quickly switched to neutral and cranked the engine - no problems in starting it. Any clue what could be wrong? Spark plugs need to change? Cam shaft sensor? Thank you in advance. *Car is 7 years old and I've driven about 120k km. Spark plugs have not been changed before.

Not v experienced on used car, so want some advice. What is a reasonable price to pay for an 08 Mazda 5, presuming car is in good condition? I see sgcarmart sells around 60k but not sure if this is fair price. Roughly how would you calculate price?

Hi All I need advised I just bought a 2nd hand car at a car dealer shop but im not aware that the car has a modified exhaust. So 2 month later i was stop by an lta office and told me that my exhaust was modified. The exhaust sound so not loud at all so i asume that it was the air filter as it was knn. After telling the the lta officer, he still want to summon me on the exhaust. I change everything by the next day and when for an inspection and pass. I also have call the car dealer shop and explain but was told to apeal.(choice auto at mekenzie rd) no after service at all. After the apeal the summon was reduce from 500 to 200$. Should i apeal again? As to me i was not my fault. only by the lta officer told me than i know i have a modified exhaust if not only the yearly inspection then i know. Can lta waived all the fine or only still reduce or add back to 500$? If i apeal again. Please advised Thanks Fizzi
