Anyone has done that? Any pros and cons? I personally feel a bit uncomfortable with having a friend as my house agent... as somehow think not too good to have money dealings with close friends. but on the other hand, if i'm going to let some stranger earn my 1% commission, i might as well let my friend earn the 1%? -
Dear all fellow car owners, I would like to invite you guys to share your experience on the agents when servicing claming Warranty etc. Please share base on any of the following Cat. 1) Agent Name 2) PRICE of basic maintence Service. 3) WORKMANship quality 4) Ease of claiming warranty 5) Is the warranty easily Void 6) If we choose to void warranty, will we save more when we get outside Service centre? 7) Any Unhappy Experience with Authorized Agent or even PI. 8) The competency of the Service Crew. Seasoned or Green on the job training crew. I like to share one of my negative experience as a Consumer point of view. I felt that Agent gave the 3 years warranty is to give them the opportunity to earn even more then the Cars that they sold. I when to C&C to service my Lancer, I wanted to bring in own Engine oil. They say cannot, told me will void warranty. I bring in same brand same specs of Engine oil. Shell Hylix Ultra. They won't even allow. I can get it cheaper from outside, I do not mind paying labour charges. When I service by them. They have Engine Oil in OIL DRUM, which means they buy in bulk and then RIP us off, made us pay more for the Shell hylix Ultra than we pay for off the shelves Shell Hylix Ultra. CourFour, during Sale sold @ $60 (4litre bottle) Currently the Basic maintence Package cost $162. It is really expensive. It is really upsetting to see your car being molested by in-experienced on the job training Trainee Crew. The price outside cost cheaper , like $130 with Engine Oil plus get an EXPERIENCEd Old bird to do for you. Sigh! Anyway please feel free to Recomend Value for money Worshop for servicing. The aim for this Thread is to let fellow drivers know what they are getting from the Authorized agent and PI. Is that really worth it. And also share the good news among drivers when they wanted to have a good deal . Please do not zap me or anything I just want to create a sharing of information so that All END user can all benefits from The purpose is to take agent into consideration when choosing cars 1) When Buying Car, take into consideration the reputation of Agent and the quality of the service team. 2) Obtain good and value for moeny information Auto Car service like, spray paint cost, Repair cost etc. 3) Know who are the bad hats in the Authorized agent and PT. 4) Discuss on : Should we buy cars without warranty ? I'm just wondering what are the working hours of housing agents are like... always see few of them showing units near my paernts place etc .... last time I buy house usually meet them at night after work ... do they still need to "clock" in the office or can work from home etc and only go office to file in paperwork?? like that very flexible working hours ...might be good for some people ... any housing agents here care to comment??

Hi, Wife wana go honeymoon in Taiwan(7days) n HK(5days) in early January. We went to People's Park Centre to look for tour agency, however almost all of them dont do two destinations or no price on air tickets for Jan 2008. If cant go to both destinations together, wife would like to settle for HK only. Any good recommendations please. Thks. P.S I never been to HK b4 cos I cant speak cantonese, but been to Taiwan twice courtesy of SAF.

this is an issue that's brewing in one of the forums, and I wanted to get the opinions of the elders and experienced here... say if the agent markets a car with a particular feature - lets call it "anti-theft system" - but finally delivers the car without it ? this is one of fifty-one "equipment" features highlighted in the brochure and marketed as "standard" (with a tick). now that you've noticed it, the agent (not PI): 1. emails to confirm that it is "not a standard issue" 2. rationalizes that it is not needed because the car has a built-in immobilizer (but the antitheft system includes blinking lights and movement sensors) 3. blacks out this feature on all remaining marketing brochures. What would YOU do ?

Hi does anyone know if there are any Honda service centres where you can view when they are servicing your ride? I have always serviced at Ubi, but encountered some problems in my last servicing. Any other location where you can view? BTW I am into my 60K KM. Quite expensive.

Was talking to a hiadee at a tyre shop. he said why some PS2 are cheaper than others could be because some are direct from agent and these are customised to tropical weather like Singapore, those PI-ed ones are from europe and does not suit our use that well. PIed ones cheaper. really?

Hi, i'm probably gonna make one last car purchase in my lifetime soon and I want to buy a car I've always dreamt of driving (Mercedes S-class) but will never be able to afford one. So, the closest car to its bigger brethren, i am seriously contemplating getting myself the Mercedes A170 instead. The AD quoted me abt 95k with 3 yrs, 100,000km warranty while a PI quoted a 15% reduction (savings of abt 14k plus) from AD's offer but plus a couple of extra features but with only 3 yrs, 60,000km warranty. What are your guys' opinions abt the 2 sellers?

Anyone had really calculate the total cost of a car. Customs Duty, GST and ARF of a car. The point is, if you take the price on year 99/00 and now and you find that the profit made by agent is a big difference. Other then COE being the main factor, profit is one of the main component. I remember Straitstimes did put up all the cost in year 2000 and some had comment on the $50k profit being too much. Now a 1.6 Jap car only profit of $5-10k compare to $20-40K 5 years ago. Good example is Mazda car price this year.

My colleague was looking at a Renault Megane 1.6 but was shoppping around for the Hondas, Ford Focus..etc One of the other sales agents said that the local agent was going to lose the dealership for Renault. Is this true? Whats going to happen to the warranties and servicing packages promised if it goes to the new dealer? Any info on whether this is true?

Hi all, Firstly, like to say this is the best forum ever. Anybody got horror stories/comments on quality & workmanship of car grooming packages by agent? Perhaps for new car better to sign up for their in house car grooming package at least for warranty period, eg 3yrs in case any problem. Thereafer, can maybe consider DIY or external pro grooming package. Anyone care to share their thoughts/experiences?

What the insurance agent claim : Pros : 15% reduction on premium reduction of excess in case of accident claim 9 months of warranty for repair ....etc What are the "cons" ? Will "used" part or OEM part (not original manufacturer supply) being used for repair in such workshop ?
