  1. Singapore have a Class 3A licence. So if the person only have Class 3A, can he drive a AMT (Automated Manual Transmission) gear box car? Basically the car have a manual gear box but below are the catch: 1. It has no clutch (so is it consider an Auto car?) 2. If it on a slight slop even with 1st gear, it will still roll back (true auto car do not roll back) SO the debate is can a class 3A licence holder officially drive these type of cars? I think this discussion would be interesting.
  2. i saw this V6 monster along Middle Road. very nice engine roar when it launched from red light. very cool ride and rims.
  3. If money was'nt really a concern, which car would you choose and why?
  4. A write up about the 159 for folks who have yet to go for a test drive........... [/size] The 159 is a replacement for the 156 which was launched in 1997 and it has grown in every aspect save for the height. The 156 was not NCAP rated whereas the 159 scores 5 stars. The 156 was revolutionary in its design and it can still win a beauty contest while the 159, though designed by Giorgetto Giugiaro in collaboration with the Alfa Romeo Styling Centre, looks more evolutionary then revolutionary. 159: Length 4660mm Width 1828mm Wheelbase 2700mm Height 1417mm Front Track 1578mm Rear Track 1555mm 156jts: Length 4435mm Width 1743mm Wheelbase 2595mm Height 1430mm Front Track 1519m Rear Track 1506mm Build Quality The overall build quality is very good. The interior finishing is much better than the 147/156/GT. The soft touch plastics on the console and around the cabin are several classes above the 147/156/GT. Although there are some faux aluminum trims on the dash/centre console it should not be an issue because the Brera uses real aluminum for these panels and if the buyer's pocket is deep enough, he should be able to change the plastics to the real thing. (Anyway, my German ride also has faux aluminum panels). The leather seats are locally fitted but the leather feels like some high grade stuff and I can't tell that it was locally fitted until I was told. Gears, drive train & what have you The gear knob on the manual car looks and feels good in my hand. For once in a Alfa Romeo, the shift is sweet, short and precise. There is a certain mechanical feel as you slot the gear stick into its gate that is reassuring but the way the stick comes to a stop at the end of the gate is a little too abrupt for my liking. The

This car is based on the Alfa 147 compact car. The new model differs in its broad wings that stand out at the front to accommodate the generous 17 inch wheels. The foglights that have been shifted toward the outside of the car to free the air intakes and allow the mighty power unit to breathe more easily. At the rear, the new version features a bigger bumper. This feature is hardly apparent from the side but is apparent when the car is viewed from behind. The lower part of the 147 GTA's rear end looks completely different from the original model from boot floor level downward. This is neccessary as the bumper contains a big extractor that is visibly divided by the metal panels into one long horizontal opening and two smaller side openings. The extractor serves the aerodynamic function of carrying airflow from the front of the car to the back of the car. The GTA complements the basic Alfa 147 package with a few sporty interior styling details exclusive to the version. These include a brand-new three-spoked steering wheel, gear lever with leather gaiter and surrounds in Puma grey, a darker shade than that of other Alfa 147 versions. The out and out sporty pedals include aluminium pedal covers and footrests with rubber inserts and ergonomic shapes. These are complemented by a mat in the central storage compartment made out of metalluro with rubber detailing. The Alfa 147 GTA suspension layout is based on the formidable combination of high double wishbones at the front and a MacPherson arrangement at the rear. The suspension is the final outcome of a long and thorough development process carried out on the basic layout with the aim of achieving the highest levels of driveability and handling. The new front suspension was developed specifically for the model by the Fiat Research Centre and Alfa Romeo Research. It departs from the configuration used on the Alfa 147 in offering a reinforced lower beam, lower ride, new shock absorber and spring settings, a special wheel strut that is fastened to the steering link in a different position - and a larger diameter stabiliser bar. The rear suspension has also undergone many technical improvements. The geometry and the constructional details of the tried and tested MacPherson configuration have both been revised. The outcome is a different body attachment position; special spring setting; different shock absorber and bush stiffness; antiroll bar with bigger diameter. The Alfa 147 GTA power unit is the same 3.2 V6 24 valve engine fitted to the Alfa 156 and Alfa Sportwagon GTA. It is a spirited, well-rounded engine as befits a six-cylinder unit and is derived from the now classic three-litre V6 24 valve unit fitted to top of the range Alfa 166 and GTV models. The result is a car that is the most powerful and fastest representative of its segment (250 bhp - 184 kW) and capable of thrilling performance: 246 km/h top speed; 6.3 seconds from 0 to 100 km/h and 26.1 to cover a kilometre from a standing start. Not to mention outstanding dynamism, ride and handling.

  19. http://www.italiancar.com.au/pilot/feature011.htm Has this babe ever reach our shore ? Just curious. ".......The Alfa Romeo 156 Crosswagon expresses its greater versatility with a higher ground clearance with improved approach and exit angles when cornering, a strong personality, great safety and overall solidity plus outstanding comfort in all conditions. These features make the new model perfectly at ease around town or on unsurfaced roads yet do not detract from its sporty, stylish, clean-cut line: a trait common to all Alfa Romeos. The 156 Crosswagon owes its all-terrain look in particular to door sill aluminium protection, special front and rear bumpers with aluminium inserts, an original bumper grille and carrier bars. The 156 Crosswagon was created to overcome any road situation without ever stooping to compromises. This is also evident in a ride set-up that is nearly 6 centimetres higher than the Sportwagon and the 225/55 R17 all season wheels with special compound and tread. The tyres are also designed to offer great comfort under normal driving conditions with good grip and a safe drive on snow, unsurfaced or uneven roads, mud or treacherous roads in general. Inside, the new model features an instrument panel with brand new design, a compass built into the mirror plus special carpets and mats, an elegant, new hi-tech trim for the central console and, optionally, new top quality leather upholstery. Four wheel drive is delivered via three differentials and a Torsen C system, enabling each wheel to offer the maximum torque for its grip level at all times...."

  22. For those, like me, who love the Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione concept this is great news: The Alfa Romeo 8c Competizione concept sportscar is destined for a 500-unit build run, with the production-ready car scheduled to appear at the Paris Motor Show in September reports respected motoring website 4Car, quoting comments attributed to Alfa Romeo CEO Antonio Baravalle made in Geneva last week. 'It is my dream to do it,' said Alfa's recently-arrived CEO, Antonio Baravalle. 'We have cut the budget for our advertising campaign and will do the 8C instead, because it is a perfect way to promote the Alfa brand. Sergio Marchionne says if the figures add up, do it.' The plan is to have a production-standard 8C ready for the Paris show at the end of September, and to take orders for a 500-car production run then.It will be a coup
