  1. Today something almost happened to me, I was pumping petrol at East Coast Esso and was walking to pay for my petrol. I stood near the pump nearest to the payment coutners and stopped for awhile to look at the petrol prices and a Subaru WRX sped through the kiosk almost hitting a car and me in the process, the car driver also honked at the Rex the longest time, for me it was a mixture of shock and anger. Why do people do these kind of things? In a petrol kiosk speeding off after pumping petrol? What is he trying to show off? What if there was a kid there walking out and the Rex cannot brake in time.....this is totally unrespondsible and a total danger to the public. Just my rant and hopefully help send a message out about safe driving.
  2. wah, still recovering from shock just now, was driving along kim seng road, just after great world city. there is road works in the middle lane 3. i was in lane 2, a van in lane 1 just slight behind me. as there is a RED traffic light in front, both me and the van and cruising to a stop from 50km/h. when we just pass the road works, suddenly a teenage gal about 20yo out of nowhere dash across our path and she instead of checking for traffic from the incoming direction, she look at the other direction while dashing across! i immediately horn and ebrake thats when she realise she was looking at the wrong direction, she scream and continue her dash across, van also horn non stop. i think i missed her by 1/2 car length KNN, if i have driving faster, i probably have killed her. sometimes, even when drivers are not at fault, when we knock down someone, sure alot of trouble....
  3. hi all would like to ask is it worth buying almost new cars, was browsing thru sgcarmart n saw some cars are barely 6 mths old and have 6-10k off the tags its actually not the price that is tempting me but due to some reason i cant wait few months for a brand new car, its because of work, not the impulsive-syndrome n of cos those cars are still under warranty, will the service centres honour resale cars still within warranty period? does buying this kind of cars have any impact on the break even time line ? anything else to look out for other than it could be a lemon, chalk up heavy msia fines or been in accidents b4
  4. I'm pissed off... My Story: I hunted around for a new Stream RSZ in March. All PI didn't have ready stock except Lec*. They said they only have one last Silver (which is not my preferred colour) in stock. But hack, I need a car so since they got immediate ready stock colour would been secondary. Immediately I said I wanted it, paid $1k deposit to reserve the car so at the mean time I will sell my car. Then when I sold off my car, they told me couldn't get COE but everything, including bank loan, chasis number, etc is ready. Then no news from them for 2 months, nobody call me to update. So when I knock on their door recently and they told me they sold the Silver Stream that I reserved. WTF!!!!!!!!! Tell me can't get COE but managed to sell to other people?? Pay deposit for fun is it??? And the next shipment will come in late June and can only get it on the road in July! WTF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That's almost 4 months! I felt like setting fire to their office (just joking) So come July, I would have waited stupidly for 4 months to get a car which is not in my preferred colour...

  10. Like to share a bad experience I had. For the whole of last week, I detected my oil pressure indicator lighting up on a few of occasions. Since it was just a few day more before my next servicing and the indicator light didn't come on permanently, I didn't pay much attention to it since the engine temp was normal and the engine didn't behave abnomally. I just thought that that the oil level could be a bit lower. After knocking off from work on Fri, I checked the dipstick and found to my horror that the oil level was way below the minimum. I drove over to Stamford Tyres which is a few blocks away from my work place to top up the oil and check for any obvious leakage. To my horror, it took almost 3 litres of lube oil to get it up to an acceptable level which incidentally has a capacity is 3.6 litres. No evidence of leakage was also detected. After drving home, I made another check myself below my vehicle and found a very small puncture from the oil filter which was damaged by the tightening tool. On Sat, I drove to the workshop, Jxxxsxxxd and complained to them about the sloppy job that they did for my previous servicing. For this servicing, I had no choice but to follow them every step of the way to ensure there would not be another repeated incident and to make sure that they actually used the oil that I brought myself.
  11. Darn CITYCAB taxi Last night, I was coming down Upper Paya Lebar Road and was turning left onto Airport Road. From behind, without headlights on, came this yellow taxi (I only knew it was yellow after it zoomed past me). I took the left turn at around 50kmh and was accelerating off when the taxi came on my left and cut right across my path. Having very little reaction time, it was either I hit him or do something about it. I knew hitting the brakes was a futile thing as he was going across me and braking would just cause me to smash into him. So I swerved right to avoid and mounted the kerb. The whole thing detroyed my front bodykit and damaged both of my right rims and tires. My right front suspension was leaking after that as well. My front undercarriage neon light was also smashed too There could even be axle damage The worst part is that the taxi didn't even stopped to help and just drove off I didn't get a chance to note his licence plate before he ran off. Estimated damage Front bodykit : $250 Two rims + tires : $400 Suspension : $200??? Axles : ??? Wondering if I can go after the taxi company for this
  12. See the new Civic 2006 for UK market. Its almost like the prototype in Geneva motorshow right up to the fancy front grill and rear lower spoilers and exhaust! (Unlike the US market one.) The interior is cooooool! http://www.honda.co.uk/2006civic/
  13. Not too sure what happened, but this morning, my Chevy can't start up at all! I hear the cranking sound, but once I release the key, the engine just died! It was only after I stepped on the accelerator while cranking the engine did the engine roared to life, but the RPM was very low and I felt the whole car vibrating...! It was only after stepping on the accelerator for a while before everything seems to return to normal... To make matters worse, I was reporting for my first day of ICT today, so imagine what happened if the car breaks down! How convenient! Anyway, till now, the car seem to go back to normal... I wonder what happened...! Anyone encountered this problem before? After having so much problem with my Chevy, I am now not sure if I still want to recommend to my friends when they are looking for a car anymore...! Hopefully it doesn't die on me like that anymore, especially during my ICT!
  14. Hi Bros, Need your expert advice to find out the current market price for selling a BMW 520iA. Model : BMW 520iA (Old look) Registered : Aug 2003 OMV : $55,900 COE : $31,000 How much can this car fetch now in the market? A dealer is offering only $108,000 for it. Which is only about $9k+ depreciation a year. Too low for a branded conti car. What's the average depreciation value for a Beemer? Thanks in advance.
  15. Arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrgh...shoot me!!! The Subaru Legacy 2005 model, Twin-scroll turbo....Oooooooooooooooooohhh .........placed the downpayment for it last Saturdayand most prolly will still dream over it this week too.... First glance, the car is nothing to scream about, but once behind the steering...............balls entered my mouth a de awesome power it delivered Strt line bursts were just FAB!!!! The corners, though, were what I found a little lacking, in fact much lacking still behind my 5I din have the confidence when I took a corner at 120km/h, unlike my 5....so that is my only dilemma Interior, and feel were astoundingly nice for a Jap, IMO Nevertheless, am still thinkin abt it...as a 2nd wknd car for sleeper drags...and perhaps agst our resident TP, SOYA
  16. Almost slammed into tis kayu driver just now. Was in the left filter lane, so i turned my head to check for cars, there was none. But when i turned back, the stupid car in front of me was stationary, n VERY CLOSE. I slammed the brakes n swerved, missed my bumper by inches. Din even have time to press the horn, haha. And tat wasn't the end of my sway journey. Shortly later, i went past a cop sentry along the SLE, under the bridge at roughly 100kmh. I saw the minibus/van, but i never expected it to be a sentry as i've never seen tat before. Too late when i saw e tripod. Do u pple think they'll be fussy abt 10kmh over the limit? And wat other tell-tale signs should i look out for next time? Thanx
  17. To: The driver of a red Toyota Corolla starting with SCE xxxx Date: 16/10/03 Time: Approximately 7.10pm Location: Bus-stop filter lane outside Kallang MRT The scenario: A bunch of colleagues and I was crossing the road when your car sped towards us. There was no traffic light at our point of crossing though. You did not slow down upon seeing people on the road, and continued to speed towards us. You gave us a long horn before you initiated your left signal to indicate that you are going to filter into the bus-stop to pick up your wife/gf. For your information, when you gave your signal, you are only about 10 metres from us. Yes, you almost knock us down. Thankfully, 7 of us managed to run onto the pedestrian path in that split second to escape the accident. There are more than 10 witnesses at the bus-stop if that slipped your mind. A colleague quickly jotted your number in both his notepad and mobile phone SMS. A car behind you saw this incident and stopped by us. He told us that he saw no brake light from your car until you drove into the bus-stop lane. He is certain that you were giving a extremely late signal (about 10 metres) to indicate your intention. In addition, he has been following behind your car and is extremely sure you have been travelling at 90km/h, way past the speed limit on that road. Never mind for this incident. My message to this driver: You are lucky you met us, that we are quick enough to literally leaped onto the pedestrian path. What do you think if it was an old man or old woman who is unable to react like us? We have taken your car license plate and should we happen to see such a situation from you again, we will not hestitate to submit your license plate to the Traffic Police for reckless driving. ** Two public members whom we don't even know, resort to pointing their middle finger at you, which you ignored, either you did not see or purposely pretend not to see. Be glad that we give you enough respect not to do likewise. Ed
