    Alpine Motors

guess some of you know that Chevy has appointed Alpine Motors as the new distributor and service partner. read today's ST for the ads. Here's AM's details: Boon Lay Showroom: 8 Boon Lay Way, #01-24/25/26 Tradehub21 Singapore 609964 Tel: 6316 5335 Fax: 6316 5333 Bukit Timah Showroom: 833 Bukit Timah Road, #01-01 Royalville Singapore 279887 Tel: 6469 9998 Fax: 6469 3188 Service Center in Sin Ming. After my bad experience with SA, i welcome the new change and hoepfully bring in better service. with competition, i foresee the price for new cars will go down and you can ask for better freebies. solely my opinion: if you are thinking of getting the new Aveo, you can now have the option to ask both AM and SA, see which gives better offer.

  16. Hi all, Me newbie in car audio.. My set as below: Clarion 846 HU Alpine MRP-F240 amp mb quart component front spk infinity 3 way rear spk I had been trying to tune my amp but i noticed even when i set the gain to the min or to max..there is not very much difference in the sound being play out.. However i noticed when i tuned the bass eq to more than mid level..the bass of the rear become very bommy. I had been following the manual to tune the amp. As per manual, tune the gain of the amp to min and turn the vol of HU to a reasonable level till the sound distorted. Then lower the volume of the hu by one level. Next tune the amp by increasing the gain till the sound distorted and drop by one level. Can any bro highlight to me what can you expect when you tune your amp gain from min to max. I do hear some difference but not very big..can tht be due to my amp is only a 40w rms per channel? Please advise . Thanks

  24. I bought my car with this Atlanta CD34 SDP. I added a monoblock amp AudioBank M5 1300w max 350w rms at 4ohm and Cadence single coil subwoofer 300w rms. I also added a Cadence CEQ770 band equaliser with subwoofer control so that I can control the speakers' frequency and also have the subwoofer's control more easily reachable. Other wise I only have the bass volume control knob extended from my monoblock amp and cannot control the frequency at my seat. But the problem is this HU has no PRE-OUT to output to the monoblock amp. So the audio shop gave me a hi-lo converter to create a preout. The configuration is hence, HU->Preamp->Monoblock amp->Subwoofer.So I use it for 2 month plus. The bass is excellent. Unil... Yesterday, I backside itchy, went to sim lim walk walk, then bought a Alpine HU. Now this new HU got 3 PRE-OUT. One is front speakers, one is rear speakers and one is Subwoofer PRE-OUT. I have 7 band equaliser inside my new HU already. But I duno how to tune it yet. The installer connected the front speaker PREOUT from my HU to the preamp input and then the preamp's subwoofer's PREOUT to the monoblock amp. The configuration is now. HU's front speaker PRE-OUT->preamp input->monoblock amp->subwoofer. The pre-amp's front speaker and rear speaker's PRE-OUT is not in use. Got a problem is now my bass become very soft, I tune up the gain until super high already still quite soft. I duno whether which HU's PRE-OUT should I use. Should I use the Front Speaker's or Subwoofer's? I haven add any amp for my front and rear speaker, hence the preamp's front speaker output and rear speaker's output is not in use. I currently power the front and rear speakers from my HU's in built amp at 18w rms. I am afraid if I use the Subwoofer's PreOut to the preamp, then in future when I add a amp(4 channel) for the front and rear speaker's will I still get the correct signal or my 4 channel amp only can receive subwoofer's low frequency(wrong signal). Should I still use a preamp? My installer say I can directly connect my amp to the subwoofer's PREOUT at the HU. And in future, the 4 channel's amp also use the front speaker's and rear speaker's PREOUT directly from the HU. But one thing is, I like the advantage of the control of the bass volume and frequency directly without tuning my HU, bcos my HU's equaliser is very complicated and deep(have to press many buttons to access the tuning while driving quite dangerous) inside to tune.
