  1. It seems that the people at Mercedes-benz Europe are pretty creative when it comes to producing the company's latest commercial for their new van, the Vito. Cunningly titled Dirty Driving, the video stars its recently released 577bhp, 5.5-litre V8 bi-turbo S63 AMG Coupe and its Actros semi truck. The pair is seen checking each other out and eventually makes out after some very 'intimate' moments. Don't worry, while the whole clip is very much safe for work (and for kids) to watch, I must say it is pretty suggestive and clear about what the ad is trying to get across. For those of you who can't get enough of the ad, there is even a censored and a bondage version. Hmmmm..... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VTIfjxNHEPw
  2. The first Mercedes was a racing car and its most recent successor carries this heritage forward. With the new Mercedes-AMG GT, the Mercedes-AMG sports car brand is moving into a new sports car segment. The GT is the second sports car developed entirely in-house by Mercedes-AMG. Its front mid-engine design with a rear transaxle and use of intelligent aluminium lightweight construction form the basis for a highly dynamic driving experience. Its newly developed AMG 4.0-liter V8 biturbo engine underscores the hallmark of AMG driving performance. The first sports car engine from AMG with internally mounted turbochargers ('hot inside V') and dry sump lubrication is configured in two output ratings: as a GT with 456 hp (340 kW) and as a GT S with 503 hp (375 kW). The new GT combines driving dynamics and first-class racetrack performance with superb everyday practicality and efficiency that sets new standards in the segment. It has everything you would expect from an authentic Mercedes-AMG sports car – from the characteristic styling, thoroughbred motorsport technology to the optimum weight distribution. The drive system tailored to consistently delivering driving dynamics perfectly complements this set-up. The centerpiece of the Mercedes-AMG GT is thethe new 4.0-liter V8 biturbo, which responds instantly with extreme power at low revs and delivers outstanding performance. Top figures such as 3.7 seconds from 0-60 mph (preliminary) and a top speed of 193 mph (310 km/h), combined with the outstanding driving dynamics will undoubtedly translate into extremely fast laps on the racetrack. At the same time, this two-seater is a comfortable and reliable companion for everyday motoring thanks to its practical decklid, easily accessible luggage compartment, and high level of comfort on long journeys. It also features an extensive list of Mercedes-Benz Intelligent Drive assistance systems which ensure the high level of safety expected from Mercedes-AMG. "With the new Mercedes-AMG GT, we are venturing out into a challenging sports car segment with its top-class competitive field. This is an incentive and motivation for us at the same time to prove to sports car enthusiasts around the world the kind of performance that AMG is capable of", says Prof Dr Thomas Weber, Member of the Board of Management of Daimler AG, responsible for Group Research & Mercedes-Benz Cars Development. "With the new GT we are positioning Mercedes-AMG even more aggressively than to date as a dynamic sports car brand", says Tobias Moers, CEO of Mercedes-AMG GmbH. "With its technological substance, the Mercedes-AMG GT fulfils our high aspirations with regard to driving dynamics, agility and sportiness. The new GT is the second sports car developed fully independently by Mercedes-AMG. The car is manufactured according to the motto 'Handcrafted By Racers' – which perfectly encapsulates our heritage and our spirit." Mercedes-AMG GT Displacement: 3982 cc Output: 456 hp (340 kW) at 6000 rpm Max. torque: 443 lb.ft (600 Nm) at 1600-5000 rpm Acceleration: 0-60mph 3.9 s (preliminary) Top speed: 189mph (304 km/h)*** Mercedes-AMG GT S Displacement: 3982 cc Output: 503 hp (375 kW) at 6250 rpm (6000-6500 rpm*) Max. torque: 479 lb. ft. (650 Nm) at 1750-4750 rpm (1750-5000 rpm*) Acceleration: 3.7 s (preliminary) Top speed: 193 mph (310 km/h)*** * In conjunction with AMG DYNAMIC PLUS package; *** Electronically limited.
  3. Mercedes-Benz has been teasing about its new GT sports car for a while now. While it hasn't let the cat out of the bag yet, the marque continues to taunt with a video showing off the soundtrack from the next-gen 4.0-litre V8 engine. Conceived to replace the SLS, the new GT will be smaller in dimensions and more 'affordable' than the outgoing model. Likewise, the engine will also be shrunk - from a 6.2-litre V8 to a 4.0-litre V8 unit. The people at Mercedes-AMG, has however, assured us that the new block will be as great-sounding as the previous - if not more. The new engine will also feature a total of four driving modes, each with its own distinctive sound signature. http://dai.ly/x21u61t
  4. While we love the way Mercedes-Benz gives its latest S 63 AMG Coupe a black, sinister feel with its new online spot, we can't help but think they borrowed some ideas from Jaguar's 'Good to be Bad' campaign. That said, it is no bad thing considering how well its suits the S 63 AMG Coupe when it bellows in anger! http://dai.ly/x1xurbq_s-63-amg-coupe-performance-art_auto
  5. From its unique architecture to its amazing skyline and eyewatering prices, the United Arab Emirate of Dubai has always done things very differently. Never afraid to flash its excess wealth, and famed worldwide for its conspicuous consumption, it’s no surprise that the local constabulary has accumulated the most exotic stable of police cars in the world. Lamborghini, Aston Martin, Ferrari and more... it’s every petrolhead’s wishlist of motoring exotica, but a daily drive from some for the lucky officers serving in the desert. We take a look at the cars that will be on your tail if you’re foolish enough to consider speeding in Dubai, the land where the PCs most certainly aren’t plodders... BMW M6 Gran Coupe Engine: 4.4 V8, 552bhp | Top speed: 250km/h | 0-100km/h: 4.1 secs A relatively tame part of Dubai Police’s fleet, but BMW’s legendary ‘M’ badge signifies there’s no shortage of power. With a 4.4-litre V8, the M6 Gran Coupe is propelled from 0-100km/h in 4.1 seconds, on its way to a limited top speed of 250km/h. At just under £100,000, this is one of the cheaper cars on the fleet, but rest assured those sumptuous leather seats will keep criminals comfortable. Mercedes SLS AMG Engine: 6.2 V8, 591bhp - Top speed: 320km/h - 0-100km/h: 3.7 secs As supercars go, few would deny that the Mercedes SLS AMG is a work of art, with its generously proportioned front end sweeping back to a dramatic set of gullwing doors. The Mercedes produces almost 600bhp from a 6.2-litre V8, and is capable of nearly 320km/h, doing 0-100km/h in under four seconds. Now where do the bad guys sit? Lamborghini Aventador Engine: 6.5 V12, 690bhp | Top speed: 350km/h | 0-100km/h: 2.9 secs A product of Lamborghini’s famous factory at Sant’Agata, the Aventador is striking in every way. Its rakish lines and aggressively flared arches and intakes give it a presence few cars can match. And with a massive 690bhp from the 6.5-litre V12 engine, this bull can charge to 350km/h and from 0-100km/h in a mightily impressive 2.9 seconds. But at £265,900, it’s definitely no cheap thrill. Aston Martin One-77 Engine: 7.3 V12, 750bhp | Top speed: 354km/h | 0-100km/h: 3.7 secs This is as special as they come from the legendary British maker. As the name suggests, the Aston Martin One-77 was a limited release of just 77 models worldwide. Beautifully hand-crafted materials and an obsessive attention to detail mark the car out. It’s no slouch, either, with 750bhp from a V12 and a top speed of 354km/h. The force’s accountant may be concerned at the £1,150,000 price tag, though. Ferrari FF Engine: 6.2 V12, 651bhp -| Top speed: 335km/h | 0-100km/h: 3.7 secs Practical and Ferrari are two words you rarely hear in the same sentence. The Ferrari FF is an exception, though, because it is a genuinely practical supercar with space for four occupants in a shooting brake bodystyle – the perfect choice for transporting criminals to the station quickly, thanks to its 651bhp V12 engine. Another costly addition to the Dubai police fleet. Bentley Continental GT Engine: 6.0 W12, 567bhp | Top speed: 317km/h | 0-100km/h: 4.3 secs Another British car, the Bentley Continental GT is a fine choice due to its superb refinement and quality. It’s hand-made at Bentley’s famous Crewe factory, and every effort is made to produce the perfect car, tailored to buyers’ every request. The 6.0-litre W12 engine catapults the car to just shy of 321km/h, and dispatches the 0-100km/h sprint in 4.3 seconds. Ford Shelby Mustang Roush Edition Engine: 5.0 V8, 575bhp | Top speed: 236km/h | 0-100km/h: 4.5 secs The Ford Mustang costs small change in relation to the other cars on the fleet, but doesn’t disappoint. This ‘pony car’ is more of a cobra, something its Shelby badge backs up. Modifier Roush has added even more power to the Ford, which features a highly tuned 5.0-litre V8. This pushes out 575bhp and gets the car from 0-100km/h quicker than the Bentley. It costs under a third of the price of its British rival, so what’s not to like? Whether it's for practical or publicity purposes, do you think it makes sense for the Dubai police force to run such an incredible fleet of supercars? What would the response of our tax payers be if Singapore police force attempted the same thing?
  6. The Mercedes-Benz S 63 AMG Coupe will have its world premiere at the New York International Auto Show in April 2014, as the most powerful member of the BlueDIRECT engine family. The 5.5-litre V8 bi-turbo engine boasts an output of 585bhp and 900Nm of torque - linked to an AMG SPEEDSHIFT MCT seven-speed sports transmission. This allows the performance Gran Tourer to accelerate from nought to 100km/h under 4.3 seconds, and on to reach a governed top speed of 250km/h. With a combined figure of 10.1L/100km - the two-door model is the most fuel-efficient model in its competitive segment. The S 63 AMG Coupe is lighter by 65kg - thanks to a lighter lithium-ion battery, forged light-alloy wheels and a weight-optimised braking system. Furthermore, the entire outer skin and the front end of the body are made of aluminium. There are two variants of the S 63 AMG Coupe - with rear-wheel drive or with AMG 4MATIC all-wheel drive. With the 4MATIC system, 67 percent of the power is sent to the rear axle and the rest to the front. For the suspension - the rear-wheel drive AMG Coupe is equipped with MAGIC BODY CONTROL, while the all-wheel drive variant features the AIRMATIC system with the adaptive damping system ADS PLUS. Inside the car, high-quality materials and fine workmanship are combined with a sporty, exclusive design idiom. The newly developed AMG sports seats offer the driver and front passenger optimum lateral support. One particularly exclusive model in the range is the S 63 AMG Coupe 'Edition 1', which will be available a year after market launch. Swarovski crystals in the LED headlamps (not the one above) lend the car an irresistible look, while the cabin is trimmed in exclusive nappa leather with contrast topstitching. The roof liner and the sun screens are in DINAMICA microfibre. Further features include AMG Exclusive floor mats, door sill panels with illuminated AMG lettering and a high-gloss black poplar wood trim. Also included is an 'Edition 1' branding on the sports steering wheel.
  7. I have always wondered if a Mitsubishi Evolution owner wants to upgrade to another All-Wheel Drive (AWD) sedan which uses forced induction, what would he get? Unless I am mistaken, there are not many options other than the current Audi S4/S6 sedans. Fortunately, AMG has provided another option with its CLA 45 AMG. With one of the highest specific outputs of any road car, the 2.0-litre turbocharged engine in the CLA 45 has helped it to be one of the most effective point-and-shoot weapons on the road in any weather. The engine, which is the highlight of the car for me, has minimal lag and pulls strongly all the way to the red line unlike most turbocharged cars. It sounds pretty good at the top of the range too, although it will not be mistaken as one of AMG's V8s. Reach for the next gear and it rewards you with a loud "barrrrpppp". And I mean 'Loud'. It might be too much for some but I personally love it! On the handling front, it rides softer as compared to its sister, the A 45 AMG hatchback. Unless you drive them back to back, chances are you wouldn't notice the difference. Its variable-ratio steering feels sharp and weighting is fine. Road feel could be improved though. No complaints on the brakes. They are pretty much as good as they can get. Seats hug you snug and also look great. Red belts remind you this is something special. AMG illuminated side step is one of the many features that adds to the overall feel-good factor of the car. While it might be slightly pricey, its looks and talent more than makes up for it. Evo owners, look no further. Click here for the full review.
  8. We have seen F1 drivers in action in their single-pilot, open wheel race cars. But what happens when you put two of them in one supercar?
  9. Mercedes-AMG (Aufrecht Melcher Großaspach) GmbH has reported 2013 to be its most-successful year with up to 32,200 AMG models sold. The German firm recorded strong demand in its three biggest markets U.S., Germany and U.K., last year driven by new products and the extension of its distribution network. Among the factors driving this growth was the broad introduction of the 4MATIC, all-wheel drive system, and the introduction of the facelifted E 63 and CLS 63 AMGs. There was also increasing demand for AMG’s SUV models and the new compact cars - the A 45 and CLA 45 AMG. The product offensive is rounded off by the recently introduced S 63 AMG. Through the introduction of the CLA 45 AMG Mercedes-AMG was able to steadily increase its sales in the USA market, with a growth of around 20 percent. AMG’s two main European markets, Germany and the U.K. posted strong sales, despite the overall market weakness in the EU, and exceeded their 2013 sales targets. The dynamic growth has been made possible by the expansion of the product range and entering attractive new segments. With the sporty A 45 AMG, the CLA 45 AMG and the GLA 45 AMG, Mercedes-AMG is offering three new entry-level models to reach out to new target groups. All three models are equipped with 4MATIC technology and the world’s most powerful four-cylinder production engine. Later this year, AMG plans to enter a new segment with a sports car it has fully developed itself. Founded in 1967 by Hans Werner Aufrecht and Erhard Melcher, today, the former two man company employs a workforce of more than 1,200 at its plant in Affalterbach, and over the past 47 years has become the technological spearhead and a wholly owned subsidiary of Daimler AG.
  10. Mercedes-Benz Japan recently revealed a new special limited edition of its A-Class premium hatchback. Called the 'A 45 AMG 4MATIC PETRONAS Green Edition', it features special exterior/interior designs available under the customisation program from the AMG Performance Studio. Available only in Calcite white, only 30 of these limited edition cars will be produced for the Japanese market. Differences to the normal A 45 AMG are mainly cosmetic. Its front-end areas, exterior mirrors, rear spoiler, headlamp units, wheel hub caps, and other details are painted in PETRONAS green - the special shade normally reserved for the Mercedes AMG PETRONAS FORMULA ONE® car. Inside, AMG Performance Studio gave its steering wheel, dashboard, instrument panel, and climate control air vents the green treatment while the steering wheel, door panels, arm rest, and floor mats get matching green stitching too. The lucky Japanese will also be the first in the world to get carbon fibre material for the interior. Mechanically, the car remains the same, which is no bad thing considering it has the most powerful four-cylinder turbo engine in the world. And with 360bhp channeled to all four wheels, you bet it will be a riot to drive.
  11. The all new GLA 45 AMG expands the extensive SUV lineup to five models, and is the third vehicle to feature a rather small four-cylinder turbocharged engine, in a bid to appeal to a younger motoring demographic. The AMG front apron with front splitter and the 'twin blade' radiator grille provide athletic highlights while the distinctive AMG lettering between the louvres of the radiator grille will become a standard feature on all future models - to easily identify the AMG bretherens from stock cars. Personally I think AMG is just trying to replicate what BMW or Audi does with their 'M' and 'RS' badges respectively. The side sill panels with matte titanium grey inserts, the 'Turbo AMG' insignia on the front wings and the aluminium roof rails lend the compact SUV a special touch. The diffuser insert with matte titanium grey trim and the rectangular chrome-plated tailpipe dominate the aesthetics of the rump. I don't know why but I think the hatchback shape works better with the GLA than the A-Class? I have not been a fan of modern Mercedes styling but I think the GLA is more attractive than the X1 and the Q3 from BMW and Audi respectively. Although it is not as funky as the Juke, it carries the A-Class desgn language well, albeit in a slightly chubby body that well complements the 'urban SUV' look. The speed sensitive three-spoke sports steering wheel ensures high steering precision and agility, while stopping power is provided via vented, cross-drilled brake discs highlighted by grey or red brake callipers. The hand-assembled 2.0-litre turbo with an impressive 360bhp and adequete 450Nm of torque, helps the GLA achieve its century sprint in a brisk 4.8 seconds before climbing to a governed top speed of 250km/h. The GLA 45 AMG comes with variable AMG 4MATIC all-wheel drive as standard for optimal traction. Under normal conditions, the GLA 45 AMG transmits power to the front wheels, but when conditions require, the torque is split between the front and rear axles to a 50:50 ratio. The SPEEDSHIFT DCT seven-speed sports transmission features three distinct transmission modes, a double-declutching function and a 'Race Start' function for the best off-the-line acceleration. The shift times in manual mode 'M' and sport mode 'S' are similar in character to those on the range-topping SLS AMG GT! That is a pretty cool feat isn't it? The GLA 45 AMG is not all focused on performance though, as it returns a decent 13.3km/L while emitting 175g/km of CO2, on top of complying with Euro6 emissions standards. As in all AMG models, the interior boasts high quality appeal, combined with sporty flair and exclusive equipment features. Sports seats are finished in Artico faux leather and Dinamica microfibre with contrasting topstitching while the instrument panel is adorned with brushed aluminium. Expressive and exclusive: the GLA 45 AMG 'Edition 1' Along with the GLA 45 AMG, an 'Edition 1' model is also available offering a high-gloss black Aerodynamics package with larger front splitter, additional flics in the front apron, and rear aerofoil for an uncompromising racetrack feel. The silver grey/red AMG racing stripes on the vehicle sides are complemented by red highlights and perfectly matched red painted brake callipers. The AMG Night package is also part of the standard equipment, as is the 'Edition 1' badge on the front wing. The interior is dominated by the colours black and red while an E-SELECT lever is embossed with the AMG emblem along with the addition of the ‘Edition 1’ badge on the AMG DRIVE UNIT.
  12. One of PlayStation’s popular titles, Gran Turismo, will launch a sixth version on the eve of its 15th anniversary next month with a smattering of spectacular new rides. Mercedes-Benz is one of the manufacturers to have fully engaged its marketing engine for the launch and is helping to kick-off the virtual exercise with a spectacular 585bhp virtual concept named the AMG Vision Gran Turismo. The project reportedly started because of a challenge put forward by Gran Turismo creator Kazunori Yamauchi. He asked design studios from all across the globe to come up with a concept using the theme “Vision Gran Turismo”. A handful of these, including the AMG Vision Gran Turismo, were selected to be transferred to the virtual world where they will be available in Gran Turismo 6 through online updates. But for Mercedes, the challenge was also an opportunity to explore future design. For the German automaker, future design looks to contain extreme proportions, sensual contours and a high-tech quality. Signature styling elements for the brand are also present, including a long hood, compact greenhouse and broad shoulders. Like the recent Mercedes-Benz SLS and the 300SL from the ’50s, the Vision Gran Turismo comes complete will gullwing doors. Players will be able to drive the new supercar when Gran Turismo 6 launches in December.
  13. Following the A-Class, the CLA is next to go under the knife of Mercedes-Benz AMG performance division - to be honed as a thoroughbred tarmac burner. Having recently arrived on our shores, this could just be the perfect blend of style and performance. There should be no qualms about the CLA's ability to turn heads - more so this AMG version. Having been spruced up quite a bit, it now has the right muscles at the right spots, and is not shy to flaunt its potent performance underneath the hood. Of course, AMG's works are more than skin deep. The CLA 45 sports a slew of technical trickeries - such as AMG-tuned 4MATIC all-wheel drive, twin-scroll turbocharger, AMG sports exhaust system with automatic exhaust flap control etc. All these helps to put the 360bhp and 450Nm of torque firmly onto the tarmac, in the usual AMG way with a characterful howl that should easily leave bystanders in awe. To ensure the CLA gets the right dose of AMG DNA, its 2.0-litre engine is built the same way as its bigger brothers - according to the traditional 'one man, one engine' philosophy. A seven speed twin-clutch DCT sports transmission helps despatch power to all four wheels, and achieve a century sprint timing of 4.6 seconds. Likewise, the cabin of the CLA 45 AMG is no less dramatic than its sheet metal. While we haven't got the chance to get up close with this street racer, we thought we might as well enjoy these lovely photos from the manufacturer.

    What

2013 has seen quite a good number of car launches in Singapore so far. Many were important models while a few of them were highly anticipated ones. The Lexus IS, Audi A3 and Porsche Cayman are examples of such. So what's left for 2013 that deserves the extra attention? Alfa Romeo 4C There has been much hype about this little sports car for some time now and it isn't dying anytime soon. Why would it when it has a lacquered carbon tub, 237bhp, plentiful torque, weighs less than a tonne and utilises an unassisted steering? Also included in the package are a mid-mounted engine and a dual-clutch gearbox for maximum efficiency. A 45 AMG Hot hatches. Any true blue enthusiast will hanker after one sometime in his/her life. How about the most powerful one currently in production? The A 45 AMG has 355bhp from a turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine with a huge specific power output of 178bhp per litre. According to Mercedes Benz, it can also do around 17km/L, which is frankly a miracle. Coupled with a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox and four-wheel drive it is going to be one good weapon for the track. Look out for these two. I'm serious.
  15. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jm90__azVSo Mercedes has revealed the 2014 S 63 AMG ahead of its public debut in September's Frankfurt Motor Show. The high performance Mercedes flagship sedan is powered by a direct-injected, twin-turbocharged 5.5-litres V8 engine which delivers 585 bhp and 900Nm of torque. The engine is mated to a seven-speed AMG SPEEDSHIFT MCT sports transmission with three selections, namely "C" (Controlled Efficiency), "S" (Sport) and "M" (Manual). Both the SWB and LWB S 63 AMG take only 4.4 seconds to reach 100km/h from standstill. The AWD 4MATIC model even manages to shave off 0.4 seconds from the century sprint performance. All models have an electronically limited top speed of 250km/h. The new S 63 AMG is up to 100kg lighter than its predecessor due to several weight saving measures. These include the usage of light alloy rims, aluminum construction for the roof and front panels, usage of carbon fibre for the spare wheel recess, among others. The lithium-ion battery itself already contributed to 20kg of weight savings. The S 63 AMG is equipped with Mercedes' AIRMATIC suspension which offers continuous damping adjustment. This enables the performance sedan to adjust better to driving styles and road conditions. The suspension offers two settings, namely "Comfort" and "Sport". A torque vectoring system helps to improve handling. High performance AMG ceramic composite brake, which weighs 20 percent lighter than stock ones, is on the option list.
  16. Both cars are built on the same platform. Both are powered by the most powerful series-production four-cylinder turbo engine in the world. Not only that, both are equipped with the AMG SPEEDSHIFT DCT seven-speed sports transmission and performance-oriented AMG 4MATIC all-wheel drive. These two cars could not be more similar. We are taking about the Mercedes A 45 AMG and CLA 45 AMG. Auto Express has put up a comparison test involving the two AMG vehicles. These cars are the first four-cylinder models from the tuning company. So, which model will emerge victorious ? The CLA 45 AMG The A 45 AMG
  17. Recently, Auto Express setup a quarter mile drag race between two AMG models. They are the CLS 63 AMG Shooting Brake and the 'entry level' AMG, the A 45 AMG. The competition feels like David vs Goliath as the CLS 63 AMG has a twin-turbo 5.5-litre V8 engine that generates 518bhp while the 45 AMG makes do with a turbocharged 2.0-litre that makes 355bhp. In terms of engine capacity, the CLS63 is more than two times that of the A45. Is the A45 destined to lose the drag race to its much more powerful sibling? Or will the lighter AWD hot hatch with dual-clutch transmission reign supreme? I shall leave the conclusion for you to find out! A 45 AMG CLS 63 AMG Shooting Brake
  18. In less than a week, the world will witness the debut of the all new 2014 Mercedes-Benz S-Class. But right now, photos of its 1:18 scale die-cast model has surfaced on the Internet, courtesy of a photo gallery in an online French forum dedicated to miniature models. The photos revealed that the new model, codenamed W222, is clearly an evolution of the current model. Perhaps Mercedes-Benz is trying to play it safe with the styling of its top tier sedan so as not to 'shock' its current customer base. Some interesting styling features include a large front grille inspired by the F700 Concept car and LED head lights and taillights. Along with the sedan, the S-Class will spawn a coupe and convertible as well as an extended wheelbase S 600 Pullman trim that will fill the Maybach void. The latest S-Class represents Mercedes-Benz' ninth generation flagship sedan, and the sixth to be officially called the S-Class. Like the current S500, the new S-Class will be powered by a twin-turbo V8 and the S600 will pack a twin-turbo V12. The S 63 and S 65 AMG, diesel, hybrid and smaller powertrains will be introduced at a later date.
  19. You know what they say, "Do whatever you want, just don't get caught!" Unfortunately (or thankfully, perhaps), these teenage car thieves in the United Kingdom don't seem quite knowledgeable about such a saying. Instead, these thieves just seemed so proud of their 'stealing' ability that they even shot pictures of themselves with the cars they had successfully stolen. What amazes me more is that they even posted the pictures on Facebook, a world renowned social media, and on their phones! This led the local police to catch them red-handed, or should I say, 'bread-handed' (you'll see why). It's a real 'shame' to the world of Grand Theft Auto. Speaking of Grand Theft Auto, it reminds me of the action adventure packed car theft game, the latest trailer of which will be shown on 30th April 2013. Alright, let's get back to topic. To be honest with you, these teenagers, aged from 18-23 years old, were quite an expert indeed. Comprising eight members, they managed to successfully steal nine high performance sports cars that were, and still are, very expensive. Porsches, Range Rovers, BMWs, and a Mercedes Coupe worth
  20. The Mercedes CLA 45 AMG was shown in digital format last month when the PlayStation 4-exclusive game Driveclub was announced. Now, we get to see the real thing as Mercedes has released the official images of the high-performance variant of the CLA. Like its close cousin, the A 45 AMG, the CLA 45 AMG is propelled by the turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder which generates 360bhp with 450Nm of torque. The engine is mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. Both cars also share the same set of 18-inch alloy rims and twin-blade radiator grille design. Powered by the most powerful production series four-cylinder engine in the world, the CLA 45 AMG claims to reach 0 to 100km/h in 4.6 seconds. The AWD four-door coupe will make its world premiere at next week's New York Auto Show.
  21. Mercedes has released the official photos of the A 45 AMG prior to its world premiere at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show. The German hot hatch is planned to go on sale in April. The A 45 AMG is powered by a highly-tuned 2.0-litre turbocharged, direct-injected engine that is good for 350bhp and 450Nm of torque. Its main rivals, the BMW 135i and Audi RS3, produce 320bhp/450Nm and 340bhp/450Nm respectively. Power is transferred to all four wheels via an AMG SPEEDSHIFT DCT 7-speed sports transmission. It should complete the century sprint in 4.6 seconds en route to an electronically-limited top speed of 250 km/h.
  22. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M14raMbpGg8 Mercedes has recently released the details of the 2013 E 63 AMG which include a series of high resolution photos. However, stationary photos do not do justice to the storming machine. Rejoice as Mercedes has now uploaded promotional videos of the top-of-the range E-Class in saloon and estate body styles. The videos mainly show the cars tearing down a race track and drifting along the way. Styling details of the exterior and interior are highlighted as well. The 2013 E 63 AMG is powered by a 5.5-litre V8 twin-turbocharged engine with output boosted to 550bhp and 720Nm of torque. A more powerful S-model with the same capacity is rated at 557bhp and 800Nm and it goes from 0 to 100km/h in 3.5 seconds. Both versions are fitted with the AMG Speedshift seven-speed automatic transmission. To keep the E 63 AMG rooted to the ground, it comes with 4MATIC all-wheel drive system as standard. Sit tight and enjoy the videos!
  23. Feeling the heat from Mercedes AMG A 45's 2.0-litre turbo unit, Audi is working to dial up more power and torque from its 2.5-litre five-cylinder TFSI engine. Stephan Reil, Head of Development of quattro GmbH, commented, "The five-cylinder engine will have a big future with us. But the numbers I see from AMG's engines are enormous from a 2.0-litre four-cylinder." AMG's power plant (below) produces 350bhp, which is only 10bhp behind the larger capacity unit from Ingolstadt. However, there is a tougher challenge awaiting Audi. The engine has to meet the tough EU 6 emissions standard in Europe by September 2014. This means that the engine's combustion processes and catalysts need to be heavily revamped, according to Reil. Audi's turbocharged 2.5-litre Inline five-cylinder currently powers the TT RS and RS3 models. Five-cylinder engines are noted for combining the best aspects of four and six-cylinder engines. They generate more power and torque than six-cylinder engines while maintaining the fuel economy and peppiness of smaller four-cylinder engines.
  24. You live in the US and have over $200,000 to spend. You are shopping for a luxury limosouine sedan and have narrowed down to two choices - A Bentley and a Mercedes AMG. But which is better? If you, like me are wondering why isn't a Rolls-Royce featured in this head to head video, well apparently Rolls didn't want to compete, or they were worried apparently. Another worthy contestant will be Maybach but they have folded - so to speak. So it was really interesting to see an uber luxury saloon and a well really expensive saloon competiting. Spoiler alert - the results are not surprising at all. Whats your take guys? If you had all the money in the world which luxury saloon would you guys buy?
  25. Just a few months back, Mercedes Benz announced that they will release an AMG version of the A-Class. Known as the A 45 AMG, the car is said to rival other performance models such as the RS3 and the M135i and the car will get a rather powerful engine. The A45 AMG will be fitted with the M133 engine which is a turbocharged 2.0-litre, four cylinder unit. It makes around 350bhp and 400Nm of torque. The engine is fitted with a single Borg Warner twin scroll turbocharger which redlines at 6,300rpm. That sounds pretty impressive and it would be great if Mercedes Benz offers the same engine in other models. And that is exactly what the German auto giant is going to do. The M133 engine will be used on a new, upcoming model which is called the CLA-Class. The CLA-Class is said to be heavily based on a recent concept known as the Style Coupe Concept (top most image). The CLA-Class will be based on a front wheel drive or an all wheel drive platform and it is sized just below the C-Class. The transmission that will be used on the A 45 AMG is a new seven speed dual clutch gearbox and it is possible that it will be used on the CLA-Class. Obviously, the M133 engine will only be fitted to the highest grade of the CLA-Class. The base model will likely get a turbocharged four cylinder unit that makes around 210bhp. The A 45 AMG is set to debut at the Geneva Motor Show in March next year and the CLA will be introduced shortly after that. Mercedes Benz intends to offer both models for sale within a few moths after their debut.
