  3. ANOTHER ONE! This time round seems like no one had any recording!! Stomper Alert Citizen saw what looks like a hit-and-run at a Tampines carpark last night (March 16). According to the Stomper, three cars were left damaged, with the black Toyota on the right sustaining the most damage. Stomper Stephen also spotted the accident and sent in a photo. The Stomper said: "I was walking past the carpark at Tampines Block 486 last night (March 17) when I saw this 'mess'. "Two cars and a lorry were left damaged in what seems to be a hit-and-run. "The black car on the furthest right was the most damaged and it seems like the culprit rammed into the car first, which caused it to veer into the two other vehicles. "Hopefully, the culprit can be caught." http://singaporeseen.stomp.com.sg/singaporeseen/this-urban-jungle/hit-and-run-accident-in-tampines-leaves-3-vehicles-damaged

Seems to be the trendy word nowsadays..... North Korea rescinds US envoy's invitation WASHINGTON: North Korea has cancelled a US envoy's visit to seek the release of imprisoned US missionary Kenneth Bae, adding civil rights activist Jesse Jackson had offered to go to Pyongyang instead, American officials said Sunday. No reason was given for Pyongyang's decision to rescind Ambassador Robert King's invitation. But State Department spokeswoman Jen Psaki stressed that North Korea had promised last year it would not use jailed Christian missionary Kenneth Bae as a "political bargaining chip." Bae, a US citizen and tour operator described by a North Korean court as a militant Christian evangelist, was arrested in November 2012 and later sentenced to 15 years' hard labor on charges of seeking to topple the government. US officials say Pyongyang has moved him from hospital back to a labor camp, saying they were "deeply concerned" for the health of the 45-year-old Korean American, who has been detained for more than 15 months. "We are deeply disappointed by the DPRK decision -- for a second time -- to rescind its invitation for Ambassador King to travel to Pyongyang to discuss Kenneth Bae's release," Psaki said, using North Korea's formal acronym. "We again call on the DPRK to grant Bae special amnesty and immediate release as a humanitarian gesture so he may reunite with his family and seek medical care. We will continue to work actively to secure Mr. Bae's release." South Korea and the United States meanwhile announced they would begin joint military drills on February 24 but Psaki insisted that this was not intended to pressure Pyongyang to release Bae. "We remind the DPRK that the US-ROK military exercises are transparent, regularly-scheduled and defense-oriented," she said. "These exercises are in no way linked to Mr Bae's case." Washington and Pyongyang have no diplomatic ties. But Psaki said Washington stood ready to send King, the special envoy for North Korean human rights issues, to North Korea for talks on Bae's release. She also expressed support for efforts by Jackson, a Baptist minister, to press Bae's case. "At the request of the Bae family, Reverend Jackson offered to travel to Pyongyang on a humanitarian mission focused on Bae's release," she said. "We support the efforts of the Bae family and Reverend Jackson to bring Bae home." Bae, who is also known as Pae Jun-ho, was detained as he entered North Korea's northeastern port city of Rason. He began serving his jail sentence in a prison camp in May 2013. But in August, he was admitted to hospital after he lost more than 50 pounds (23 kilogrammes) and began having kidney and liver problems. - AFP/nf
  8. From Yahoo news: MSF, police investigate baby scalding incident at PAP childcare centre The Ministry of Social and Family development (MSF) and the police are investigating reports that a six-month-old baby suffered second-degree burns at the hands of a caregiver at a PAP Community Foundation (PCF) infant care centre. According to a Facebook user named Wendy Foo, the unnamed infant, a child of a friend of hers, was being looked after at the government-run Little Wings childcare centre in Boon Lay on Wednesday when his hands were scalded. Foo's account of the incident, in a post on her Facebook page, revealed that her friend was initially told by a caretaker at the centre over the phone that someone had spilled coffee onto his wrist by accident. It was accompanied by three pictures she posted of the baby's left wrist, perforated with bubbles, sagging skin and an angry red burn mark on the top side. "But my friend (said there) wasn't any coffee stain at all," Foo wrote. "So my friend insisted (to be given access to watch) their CCTV (footage), and the video show(ed) differently," she added, without elaborating on what her friend saw instead. In subsequent comments, she noted that the CCTV camera had only captured "half" of the area of the childcare centre, adding that her friend has withdrawn her baby from the programme. Foo also said her friend was told by a teacher at the centre that the person in charge was unable to travel there to speak to her because she stays "very far" away, adding that a complaint was lodged with the MSF. When contacted, a spokesperson for the Early Childhood Development Agency, a subsidiary of the MSF, confirmed it had been informed of the incident and is investigating. "The safety of our children is of utmost importance," the spokesperson told Yahoo Singapore on Thursday. "ECDA is investigating, and working closely with the centre to ensure that safety guidelines are adhered to." Local media reported also that the police have also been alerted to the incident and are investigating. Yahoo Singapore has also contacted the PCF for a statement. link: http://sg.news.yahoo.com/msf--police-investigate-baby-scalding-incident-at-pap-childcare-centre-035259766.html Look at the baby arm, sooooooooooooooo sad ...

Intern nurse Hu Yixuan passed by the expectant mother who had pretended to collapse in the street in Jiamusi city in northeast China's Heilongjiang Province. She accompanied the woman, named locally as Tan, to her home where she was met by her husband who gave her yoghurt spiked with sleeping pills. The man then tried to rape her, but she was conscious enough to fight him off. During the struggle, the couple suffocated her with a quilt before stuffing her body in a suitcase and burying her in a rural area, according to China.org.cn which cited the Heilongjiang Morning Post. Haunting surveillance footage reportedly shows Hu's last moments as she walks with Tan under an umbrella to the house on Wednesday last week. One of Hu's friends also uploaded a chilling screenshot of the girl's final WeChat message to her before she was killed. It said: 'I've just helped a pregnant aunty to her doorstep.' Victim: Teenage intern nurse Hu Yixuan (pictured) was murdered after helping a pregnant woman who lured her back to her husband so he could have sex with a virgin, it was claimed The same CCTV camera later allegedly shows the pregnant woman and her husband carrying the suitcase containing Hu's body to a car before driving away, it was reported by shanghaiist.com. Neighbours claimed the couple had separated after the woman was 'caught in bed with another man' but she had tried to win him back by promising to 'find him a virgin' to have sex with. The couple were arrested on Sunday and the woman reportedly confessed to the murder. Hu's body was found the following day, her uncle said. Tan is currently under police guard at a hospital as she is expected to go into labour soon, the Heilongjiang Morning Post reported.
