  1. 12 September 2018! https://www.apple.com/apple-events/september-2018/ Looking forward to this: https://www.macworld.co.uk/news/apple/when-is-next-apple-event-3658198/ It has been confirmed, Apple's next major iPhone will be unveiled Wednesday September 12th, 10 am PDT (1am in SG). The event will take place at the Steve Jobs Theater at the Apple HQ in Cupertino, Californa. You can watch the live stream (or add it to your calendar for now) here. Apple is also likely to let the audience know when the next version of the Mac and iOS operating systems will be available for download. The rumours surrounding the date and time of this Apple Special Event were originally reported by the French Radio Station, Europe 1, that claims it got the information from two sources. The difficulty is predicting what Apple will call the next iPhone (or iPhones). Below we will run through the products we expect to see at the event, you can read more about what to expect in our: What will Apple announce on 12 September story. iPhone X Plus, 9, Xi, 11, or something else...There are lots of rumours pointing to an iPhone X Plus - expected to launch at the September event. It's likely that this will be a next generation of the iPhone X, launched alongside the new version of that phone, perhaps the iPhone Xi. We may also see an iPhone 9 (or iPhone 9 Plus). Now may be the time it ditches the numbers and refers to the iPhone simply as iPhone and iPhone Plus. What ever happens, it looks like all the new phones will have Face ID - and no home button. Some rumours suggest that Apple will announce three new phones in 2018 - two high-end X models with OLED screens, and one cheaper model with a LCD-TFT display. All three models are said to have all-screen displays (although we assume the notch will remain). Read all the news about the new iPhone for 2018 here. iPad ProApple updated the iPad back in the Spring, but it's now nearly a year since the iPad Pro was last updated. All the rumours point to Apple updating the iPad Pro at its September event, with the new model using a Face ID camera rather than Touch ID - and hence having no Home button. You can expect smaller bezels and the 10.5in version may get an 11in screen without a significant change in dimensions. Read all about the iPad Pro rumours here. iOS 12 & macOS 14The iPhone usually shares its September event with announcements of when the latest version of iOS (in this case iOS 12) and macOS (Mojave) will become available to the public in their final form, having been announced earlier in the year at WWDC 2018. Apple Watch September is also a good time for Apple Watch updates, and in September 2017 we saw the announcement of the Apple Watch Series 3 with LTE. Anyone waiting for their phones? https://wccftech.com/what-to-expect-from-apples-gather-round-iphone-event-on-september-12/

  3. Hey guys thinking of buying the new Apple Macbook air but the 1.6ghz processor only comes with the 11.6 on 128GB SSD. I actually only need the 64gb SSD but that only comes with 1.4ghz core 2 duo. Do you think 1.4ghz and 1.6ghz core 2 duo makes a big difference?
  4. There no In-Car Entertainment system that supports Android Auto but there's system which supports Apple CarPlay. Just wondering when will Android Auto system be supported here in Singapore!

So how will the company generate excitement for its 2019 iPhones? Now we know… In a major scoop, Bloomberg has revealed Apple is working with Sony to integrate long distance 3D cameras into its next-generation iPhones. This is technology, with the potential to transform photography, security and gaming. Furthermore, the source couldn’t be better: Bloomberg spoke to Sony itself. Apple iPhone XI conceptCONCEPT CREATOR “Cameras revolutionized phones, and based on what I’ve seen, I have the same expectation for 3D [cameras],” said Satoshi Yoshihara, head of Sony’s sensor division, when speaking with Bloomberg. Bloomberg reveals Apple’s interest in incorporating the technology and Yoshihara subsequently confirmed its commercial availability. Yoshihara said Sony will have front and rear-facing 3D cameras ready in 2019 with the company “kicking off mass production in late summer to meet demand”. With Apple’s next-generation iPhones launching in September, this should make you very excited indeed. Differentiating itself from rivals, Sony’s 3D cameras use ‘Time of Flight’ technology (previously used only in industry). It sends out invisible laser pulses and measures the time before they bounce back to build detailed 3D models of objects up to five metres away.

    3 party repairs ?

Apple fined millions by Australian court for misleading customers over faulty iPhones SYDNEY: Apple was Tuesday fined Aus$9 million (US$6.7 million) by an Australian court for making false claims about consumer rights when refusing to fix faulty iPhones and iPads previously repaired by a third party. Customers of the US tech giant had complained to the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) after an operating system update disabled their devices in a global issue known as "error 53". The users were told by Apple that they were not eligible for a remedy if the iPhone or iPad had been repaired by another company. The ACCC took Apple to the Federal Court last year over allegedly false or misleading representations to customers with faulty iPhones and iPads about their rights under the law. "If a product is faulty, customers are legally entitled to a repair or a replacement under the Australian Consumer Law, and sometimes even a refund," ACCC Commissioner Sarah Court said in a statement. "The court declared the mere fact that an iPhone or iPad had been repaired by someone other than Apple did not, and could not, result in the consumer guarantees ceasing to apply, or the consumer's right to a remedy being extinguished." Apple admitted misleading at least 275 Australian customers over the issue between February 2015 to February 2016 on its US website, by its Australian store staff and on its customer service phone calls. The consumer watchdog said Apple had also committed to providing new devices as replacements, after allegations that the company was giving customers refurbished goods instead after a device suffered a major failure. There was no immediate comment from Apple, which has previously described the error as appearing "when a device fails a security test". It has released an operating system update to fix the issue.
  11. Agree or disagree? In January 2000, after running Microsoft for 25 years, Bill Gates handed the reins of CEO to Steve Ballmer. Ballmer went on to run Microsoft for the next 14 years. If you think the job of a CEO is to increase sales, then Ballmer did a spectacular job; he tripled Microsoft’s sales to $78 billion and doubled profits from $9 billion to $22 billion. The launch of the Xbox and Kinect, and the acquisitions of Skype and Yammer happened on his shift. If the Microsoft board was eager only for quarter-to-quarter revenue growth, Ballmer was as good as it gets as a CEO. But if the purpose of a CEO is long-term company survival, then one could make a much better argument that Ballmer was a failure as a CEO the moment he optimized short-term gains by squandering long-term opportunities. 12. This should be fun and interesting.. I am using Airplay for most of my music at home.. https://www.whathifi.com/advice/apple-airplay-2-everything-you-need-to-know From what we saw at Apple’s presentation, AirPlay 2 will offer the ability to stream music wirelessly to, and between, compatible speakers on the same wi-fi network. This is through the Control Centre on iOS devices, an Apple TV box, or iTunes. You can define where in your house the speaker is located, using labels such as ‘Living Room’ or ‘Kitchen’. From there, you can control which speakers are playing music at any time, both invidivually and as a group. As long as the speakers are AirPlay 2-compatible, you’ll be able to connect speakers from different manufacturers together through this system, giving you more versatility regarding the products you want to use when setting up your multi-room system. 15. According to Bloomberg, Apple has invested S$1.37 billion in Didi Chuxing, a Chinese ride-sharing service that is Uber's biggest rival in China. It is also Apple's first foray into the automotive industry. Apple will be helping Didi Chuxing build up a platform to handle more than 11 million rides a day and 300 million users across China. The report also says that the tech giant is looking for ways to grow even further, with CEO Tim Cook preferring services with higher profit margins, as well as searching for ways to better infiltrate the Chinese market. At the moment, Didi Chuxing holds more than 87 percent of the Chinese market and claims that Apple's investment is the largest it has received.

  17. Hi guys need some guidance from the bros here. Am looking for a all-in-one big screen (27" and above) high reso (ABOVE 1080p, at 2,560x,1440) all in one desktop and I can only find the below two options. I have to confess I am not a great Apple fan boy and find their products over priced and this seems to be confirmed in the price and specs comparisons. The Dell XPS 27" has touch-screen, HDMI in and output, has optical drive which is absent from the iMac. The adjustable stand is also a benefit as I do lots of swiping (and toggling maps) in high resos so laying it flat helps a lot for touch interface. Anyway I am trying to keep an open mind so I am throwing this poll and discussion tread out to the bros here and will appreciate their feedback and guidance. BTW one of the other options I considered was to use a UHD 55" TV as a monitor, but its just not the same. Screen is to large so I need something smaller for more focused work and play. Here are the write-ups on both PCs from Cnet to help start the tread rolling; 1) Dell XPS 27" : http://www.cnet.com/products/dell-xps-one-27-all-in-one-desktop/ 2) iMac 27" : http://www.cnet.com/products/apple-imac-2013/ Thank you in advance

  23. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2739215/Jennifer-Lawrence-victim-hacker-leaks-slew-graphic-nude-photos-Oscar-winning-actress.html A flaw in the 'Find My iPhone' function of Apple's iCloud service may have helped a hacker to steal nude photos of Jennifer Lawrence and '100 other celebrities', it today emerged. The hacker claims he or she broke into stars' iCloud accounts, including those of the Hunger Games actress, Kate Upton and Rihanna, before publishing them on 4chan, the image-sharing forum. A list of the alleged victims of the hack - 101 in total - has also been posted online; most of whom have not seen any photographs leaked by the hacker. A spokesman for Oscar winner Lawrence confirmed to MailOnline the photos of her are genuine. 'This is a flagrant violation of privacy. The authorities have been contacted and will prosecute anyone who posts the stolen photos of Jennifer Lawrence,' the emailed statement read. Following the publication of the images of Sunday night, experts have voiced their concerns over how the hacker managed to access them. Now, reports suggest that a specific flaw in the 'Find My iPhone' service may have been to blame. Despite the story breaking last night, Apple is still yet to confirm or deny whether its software was the target of the hacking.
  24. Apple will take its latest step toward the conquest of car dashboards at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show this week. The tech giant will unveil CarPlay, a new way to integrate an iPhone into the infotainment systems of certain new cars. The system was known in development as iOS in the Car, and demonstrates Apple's interest in the automotive market. CarPlay allows drivers to make calls, access messages, play music, and use Apple Maps hands free. This can be done either through the car's infotainment controls, or by pressing a voice command button and using Siri. The call and messaging functions operate basically the same as with the standalone Siri Eyes Free system already available on some models. Siri both reads text messages to the driver and responds to voice commands which--in theory--means he or she shouldn't have to look away from the road at all. Drivers can also prompt Siri to read directions generated by Apple Maps. CarPlay can also anticipate directions based on recent trips, and the driver's contacts and e-mail. Soon, your car will literally be able to anticipate your every move. CarPlay users can also stream music from their phones through the car's sound system, as well as access iTunes Radio and certain third-party apps, including iHeartRaido and Spotify. As with the rest of the system, drivers can either use their cars' controls or Siri voice commands. CarPlay will launch at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show, and will be available initially on select models from Ferrari, Mercedes-Benz, and Volvo. It will later be globally offered on models from: BMW, Ford, General Motors, Honda, Hyundai, Jaguar-Land Rover, Kia, Mitsubishi, Nissan, PSA Peugeot Citroen, Subaru, Suzuki, and Toyota. The system will be packaged as an iOS 7 software upgrade on Lightning-equipped phones (iPhone 5 or later). You find out more about the iOS CarPlay at Apple's CarPlay microsite. CarPlay features Siri voice control and is specially designed for driving scenarios. It also works with your car’s controls — knobs, buttons, or touchscreen. And the apps you want to use in the car have been reimagined, so you can use them while your eyes and hands stay where they belong.
