  1. From the originator of daylight running LED brings you the new Matrix LED headlights. The new technology, which projects the high beam more precisely, will debut on the 2014 facelifted Audi A8. Audi's latest innovation consists of LED high beam headlights that are split into numerous individual, small diodes working in conjunction with lenses or reflectors connected in series. They are activated or dimmed separately. The new headlights work in tandem with a camera to block out light aimed at oncoming and preceding vehicles while continuing to light up other zones. The optional 'marker lights' flashes at pedestrians in the critical range in front of the car three times in succession. Lastly, the lights also have a cornering function that targets the emphasis of the beam towards the direction of the bend. When the auto headlights function is on, the system is activated from 30km/h on highways and from 60km/h on city streets. According to Audi, the light that the driver sees is always bright, homogeneous and much more effective than that produced by competitors' mechanical dipping systems.
  2. If you're one of those people out there who happened to buy the KIA Rio last decade, you may no longer recognise KIA cars of today. The thing is the South Korean automaker is picturing itself as 90 percent of an European brand. With that being said, the company has been decorating its cars with everything European, from LEDs to leather interiors and electronically retractable side mirrors. In addition to that, the South Korean brand is also seemingly pursuing the ST, RS, and GTI lineups from its rivals. All of these lineups are pretty legendary as they tend to make it to the cover of most car magazines every year. For KIA, on the other hand, it has already prepared the pro_cee'd GT to kick off with. KIA cee'd GT Launched just recently in Great Britain, the three-door sporty hatchback (or Sportback, as Audi would say) runs on a 1.6-litre turbo engine that promises a total power output of 201bhp. The good thing is, the pro_cee'd GT may not be KIA's only GT lineup as the company has confirmed that the Rio GT is a possibility. A KIA insider confirmed with Auto Express that if everything went well and that the KIA pro_cee'd GT was received warmly, the GT lineups could be seen expanded, possibly including the Rio GT. However, there may still be one other problem. It is said that KIA will also see how its five-door procee'd GT fares in the global automotive market before continuing with the Rio GT. But then again, the model won't be launched until 2014 and by then, the Rio would have been three years old. Well, if only KIA would 'pro_cee'd' with the Rio GT sooner..
  3. Good morning, ladies and gentlemen. Today, we're gathered here to watch a lesson carefully by Audi regarding the magic hidden atop the powerful engine of our cars. Right, it's the bonnet and it's very kind of Audi to teach us how to open it! Well, as a matter of fact, the German automaker is even more kind to also teach us how to close the bonnet again properly. This is to enable us to keep our cars in excellent condition, at least that's what the company claims. Well, it seems that we can go through an awful lot of pages just to figure out the proper ways of opening and closing the bonnet but no, don't worry, we aren't going to do that. However, I have to admit that sometimes automakers place bonnet releasing switches at pretty strange and unexpected places, especially when it comes to super cars. Thanks to that, some drivers end up making a fool of themselves for not knowing where to find the right switch for popping up the hood, especially when their car is still brand new. Well, for now, I guess we're better off watching this video carefully, especially if any of us owns an Audi and let's not make a fool of ourselves as well, shall we?
  4. In a recent survey conducted by U.K.'s largest dating website for married people, Illicit Encounters, Audi owners are found to be the most likely candidates in having extramarital affairs. The result was concluded by polling its 750,000 members. To be specific, 22.2 percent of Audi owners claim that they have cheated on their spouses. This is followed by BMW drivers with a score of 13.8 percent. Taking third place is Mercedes-Benz with 8.7 percent. In the survey last year, BMW owners take pole position for being the most adulterous bunch. At the other end of the spectrum, French car owners are found to be the most loyal partners. Only 0.4 percent of Peugeot drivers confessed that they have had an affair followed by Renault drivers with a score of 0.5 percent. "Cars can reveal a lot about their owners. All the cars in the top five represent our members - they are typically successful, motivated, high-achievers who are less likely to settle for something they find unsatisfying, be it a car or a relationship," commented Mike Taylor from Illicit Encounters website. Premium German makes have been dominating Singapore's sales charts for the past few years. If your hubby wants to get a German car, perhaps you may want to try convincing him to get a French car instead to 'safeguard your marriage'.
  5. In 2011, Audi presented the Quattro Concept, the final production version of which has yet to come. But now, it seems that the German automaker is finally ready to take the wraps off the final production version when the 1984 Audi Sport Quattro celebrates its 30th anniversary. Rumour has it that the final version will look sportier as well as sharper than the Quattro Concept. It's also said that the final version of the car will carry a twin-turbo 4.0-litre V8 engine. Capable of producing a total power output of 650bhp, the car will seemingly take only 3.4 seconds to go from 0-100km/h. The Quattro Concept, however, had to count on a turbocharged 2.5-litre five-cylinder engine with a total power output of 408bhp. In addition to a powerful V8 engine, the successor to the Audi Sport Quattro will also feature a sports tuned suspension with adaptive dampers, a sports Quattro rear differential, and carbon-ceramic brakes. To keep things light, Audi will be using such components as aluminium, magnesium, and carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP). In total, the car won't weigh over 1,300kg. If you are keen on seeing the car with your very own eyes, you may want to anticipate the upcoming Frankfurt Motor Show as the German automaker is likely to show it there. And, if all the rumoured specifications turn out to be true in the end, expect to see a price tag of around

  8. Hi all I know this is not a new topic but pls bare with me so we can do a more updated poll on which of the above makes is preferred. Things to consider are Reliability, Build Quality, Driving Experience, Aesthetics, etc I hope to confine the review to the more common vehicle classes like the E90, A4, C Class although I am sure many bros will also include the more exotic classes (R8, M3, C63 etc).. Thanks again for your help with the poll....
  9. Cars might be getting smarter, more efficient and environmentally friendly over the years but one aspect that hasn't changed in the face of motoring - fuel prices. The Volkswagen Group are among numeral carmakers that are actively pursuing ways to manufacture cars that are environmentally friendly and fuel efficient. Audi is no stranger to this formula and the premium German marque aims to bring it one step further - from saving fuel to saving money on fuel through a nifty online feature. Aptly dubbed the new Fuel Prices service
  10. You know what they say, "Do whatever you want, just don't get caught!" Unfortunately (or thankfully, perhaps), these teenage car thieves in the United Kingdom don't seem quite knowledgeable about such a saying. Instead, these thieves just seemed so proud of their 'stealing' ability that they even shot pictures of themselves with the cars they had successfully stolen. What amazes me more is that they even posted the pictures on Facebook, a world renowned social media, and on their phones! This led the local police to catch them red-handed, or should I say, 'bread-handed' (you'll see why). It's a real 'shame' to the world of Grand Theft Auto. Speaking of Grand Theft Auto, it reminds me of the action adventure packed car theft game, the latest trailer of which will be shown on 30th April 2013. Alright, let's get back to topic. To be honest with you, these teenagers, aged from 18-23 years old, were quite an expert indeed. Comprising eight members, they managed to successfully steal nine high performance sports cars that were, and still are, very expensive. Porsches, Range Rovers, BMWs, and a Mercedes Coupe worth
  11. After much anticipation, the all new Audi A3 sedan has made its world premiere at the 2013 Shanghai Motor Show. The A3 sedan replaces the A4 as the new entry level sedan for the German brand. The A3 sedan is designed to ward off competition from the Mercedes-Benz CLA-Class and the upcoming BMW 1 Series sedan. The styling is very typical of Audi and one would not mistake it for any other makes. The baby Audi sedan measures 4,460mm long and 1,800mm wide with a wheelbase of 2,640mm. This makes the car shorter but wider than class competitor, the CLA. Base engine is a 1.4-litre TFSI petrol with 140bhp and 250Nm of torque. 0-100km/h is performed in a brisk 8.4 seconds while it sips fuel at 4.7L/100km. Range topper for the petrol version at the moment is a 1.8-litre TFSI with 180bhp and 250Nm of torque that allows the car to complete a century sprint in a timing of 7.3 seconds. Transmission options include a six-speed manual or seven-speed S-Tronic gearbox. A high performance S3 version that runs a turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine with 296bhp is said to be in the pipeline. Although the spiritual successor of the Audi 80 is the A4, the A4 has grown so much that it is close to the size of the last Audi 100 that we have. Customers looking for a true compact, well built German sedan can now rejoice with the arrival of the A3 sedan.
  12. Acura, the luxury division under the Japanese automaker Honda, has released an image of a new concept vehicle prior to the 2013 Shanghai Auto Show. From the image released, the concept vehicle is seemingly a crossover. Acura had mentioned that the concept will debut for the first time in the world at the automotive exhibition that will take place later this month in Shanghai, China. Unfortunately, apart from that and the image, the automaker has yet to reveal any other details, such as engine specifications and interior features. The concept is likely to create a new market segment, considering Acura has recently launched the 2013 all new RDX and the 2014 MDX. Judging from the tyre sizes in proportion to the car's body in the image, it seems that this new concept vehicle from Acura will be a compact crossover. If so, it'll potentially compete against the BMW X1, the Audi Q3, the Mercedes-Benz GLA-Class, and the Lincoln MKC, the latter two of which are going into production soon. It seems that Acura won't be the only one previewing a new concept vehicle as Honda will also do the same thing. The model that Honda will likely preview is a redesign of the Honda Odyssey. Yes, although the North American version (redesigned) of the model had just recently been revealed in the 2013 New York Auto Show, Honda has actually been selling the global version since 2008. Therefore, it seems wise for the model to see a redesign of its global version soon.

  15. Hi all I was on a main road 4 lane and speed 60 to 70 km. Along this road there are various left turns to their respective condos. I was trailing behind this white Audi and he did not signal and jam brake at his speed of 70km then turned to his condo. Am I supposed to stop and anticipate cars turning left in front of me for every turn and every condo property? Good thing I was alert and also jam brake in time. But signalling is very impt especially you are High speed no one expect you to turn left Any feedback guys
  16. I am toying with the idea of changing car. I am considering these 2 models. 1) BMW 335 sedan 2) Audi S5 sportsback. Anyone have driven any of these yet? Want to hear your comments. I guess i will go for test drives if i finally decide on changing.
  17. With 295bhp and 380Nm of torque under its taps, the all-new five-door Audi S3 Sportback features a longer wheelbase than both its predecessor and the three-door S3 variant on top of a decent fuel economy of 17km/L. Powered by a new 2.0-litre engine linked to the S tronic twin-clutch transmission, the Audi S3 Sportback will make its formal debut in Geneva next month When petrol is applied, the S3 Sportback delivers a 5.0-second century sprint before hitting a limited top speed of 249km/h. The exhaust system also includes a sound flap that opens at certain engine speed ranges for a intimidating soundtrack. The versatile modular transverse platform (MQB) underpins the new S3 Sportback. and is almost 70kg lighter thanks to weight savings in areas like the powertrain and use of ultra-high-strength steel passenger cell and light aluminium wings and bonnet. 19. [extract] Although Honda and Toyota may not employ direct injection and turbocharging technologies as widely as their German counterparts, they can at least claim that their engines are more reliable. According to a report released by UK-based Warranty Direct, a provider of direct consumer car warranties, Honda
  20. Many would have heard or read about Google's self-driving vehicles and they were the first to get a permit from the state of Nevada to test autonomous vehicles on public roads. Now it is Audi's turn to be granted a licence by the state of Nevada. The licence allows Audi to operate an autonomous vehicle on public roads. This is the third such licence issued out to companies that wishes to test autonomous vehicles on public roads. The second licence was issued out to tyre manufacturer, Continental late last year. This makes Audi, the first auto manufacturer to be issued out with such licence. Many might not know this but Audi has dabbled in autonomous vehicle technology before this. Audi teamed up with Stanford University and Volkswagen Group

  22. All three German luxury car makers, Mercedes Benz, Audi and BMW posted positive sales growth for 2012. In 2012, BMW sold 1,540,085 cars, Audi sold 1,455,100 cars and Mercedes Benz sold 1,320,097 cars, globally, registering 11.6%, 11.7% and 4.69% sales growth respectively. http://www.rushlane.com/bmw-audi-and-merce...al-1258738.html
  23. Audi has unveiled the R8 China edition specially designed for the Chinese market. Only 80 units will be produced, with the car knob bearing the serial number from 1 to 99. Audi skips all numbers featuring a 'four' because Chinese customers consider it as an unlucky number. The Audi R8 coupe is only offered in China with a 5.2-litre V10 engine churning out 525bhp and 530Nm of torque. All it takes is 3.9 seconds for the car to sprint from standstill to 100km/h. On the outside, buyers can choose to have the special Malibu Blue paint used for the body and Suzuka Grey for the side blades or vice-versa. Inside the cabin, the aluminum shifter is engraved with the R8 emblem and two Chinese characters. Other interior upgrades include leather upholstery with contrast stitching, Alcantara material for both the parking brake and steering wheel as well as Malibu Blue trimmings are featured all over the cabin.
