  1. My car is due for scrap soon, and am thinking of getting another car. Am budget conscious and no not mind size, style or performance, but as wife and/or my dad might sometimes drive it too, am looking for a car that has auto transmission and also ABS (for basic safety concern). Old car is fine, and am thinking of the non-jap makes as cars of 4-8 yr old came in at time when yen was strong so jap makes should be more expensive? Am thinking of Chevrolet Aveo. Is that the cheapest car that comes with auto and ABS? Anyone has any advice on this? Much appreciated. tks.
  2. Is there any after market device that does auto-off for headlights? Ie, the headlights will go off on its own once the engine is off. I got a "phobia" since encounteering a dead battery after forgetting to off the headlights when I rushed my girl to KKH A&E. Rushed off from the car and came back 2.5 hours later to realise that the battery is kaput!
  3. http://www.streetdeal.sg/deals/view/1872/5...94426_158159_13 anyone looking at this? is it worth a try? currently i just leaving a gap among the window to ventilate the air especially under the hot sun.

  7. First time owning an auto car, would like to ask what's the proper sequence to put the auto gear to "P" after parking. Is it: 1. Stop car, keep leg on brake pedal 2. change gear to "N" 3. Pull handbrake 4. Change gear to "R", then to "P". 5. Turn off ignition Should one turn off the ignition (Step 5) before step 4? With the engine off, the auto trans would not have a slight surge when changing gears to "R" and "P"(which would seem to have lesser wear and tear), but is this the correct way? Thks for yr advice
  8. http://www.amazon.com/XADO-Revitalizant-automatic-transmissions-blister/dp/B0079KRFAW/ref=sr_1_2?s=automotive&ie=UTF8&qid=1421238296&sr=1-2&keywords=xado I just got this addictive injected into my transmission. The aqua blue gel if I am not wrong, smell like cologne, come in a syringe where you inject into the transmission dip stick port. Immediately after injection, I can hear my transmission actually quiet down quite a lot. A test drive around the block make me realise my shifting 1 to 2 have been a whole lot smoother than before where its used to jerk a bit. Not sure whether it is a placebo effect, but it does make my transmission feel smoother than before. Tml shall try it on the highway to have a better feel of it and hopefully recondition my transmission after 1500km which is the treatment cycle.
  9. Hi all, I'm thinking of replacing the current stock audio unit (of my Hyundai Veloster) with Alpine ICS-X8. Problem is - While the switches for the Auto A/C climate is separately located, the "DISPLAY" is integrated into the stock audio head unit  I was trying to find out more, by googling, to over-come this issue but it seems that it's either not an issue or nobody seems to be talking about it. Hence, I was wondering if anyone here encounter similar issue and had overcome it (or had given up) ? Will I be losing the ability to display the Auto A/C Climate if I insist on changing into 3rd party head-unit ? PS: Hyundai Service Center's technician are equally clueless.... Sigh.

  11. Hi guys. need to to check which is better...? when you are in stationery or approaching the traffic lights.. do you leave your gear knob on "Drive" or "Neutral" I heard that if you shift to "Neutral", eventually you will spoil your Gear Box. But I also heard that if you leave it at "Drive" you are stressing the engine and the brake system...? so which is true..? please enlighten me

  14. After years of setting the standard for quality and reliability, Japanese brand autos have dropped below the industry average, according to a new report by J.D. Power and Associates. The latest Initial Quality Study, which ranks brands based on consumer surveys after owning a vehicle for three months, shows the collective results of Toyota, Honda, Nissan, Mitsubishi and Subaru are not keeping pace with the industry as a whole and the Korean auto brands, in particular. "It's not that the Japanese models are all getting worse, but this shows they are not improving as fast as their competitors," said Renee Stephens, vice president of U.S. automotive quality at J.D. Power. "This is a clear shift in the quality landscape." http://www.cnbc.com/id/102766497

  21. Often heard / saw discussion on engine mounting but no one really talk on this. Just to check what is the frequency to get this changed? I have been driving for 200,000+ km without changing this but did not notice any erratic behaviour except some vibration during stopping @ traffic lights other than that car behave like new car shifting smoothly throughout and no jerking @ all. This is obvious especially in D gear. Engine mounts checked still working well and in good condition. Pls advise on this before I carry out this maintenance.
