Mercedes reveals the GLA Concept before Shanghai Auto Show

Although the 2013 Shanghai Auto Show won't take place until 20th April 2013, the premium German automaker Mercedes-Benz seems impatient to reveal its latest compact crossover concept. Mercedes calls it the GLA Concept. Looking like a taller A-Class, the concept is based on the German automaker's new MFA platform. With that being said, it's likely that Mercedes will price the car close to the price of the B-Class. Besides, it will go below the GLK lineups. The interior of the German compact crossover concept is dominated by brown-silver colour combination. The designs of the dashboard and centre console are quite futuristic, too, with some blue illumination. The GLA Concept will have a total power output of 211bhp, with a probable AMG version. The AMG version is expected to feature a total power output of up to 354bhp, thanks to a 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbocharged engine. This latest compact crossover concept from Mercedes-Benz will come with an FWD drivetrain and will be available with either a diesel or a petrol engine. Unfortunately, though, it seems that you won't be able to buy this car at least until the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show as the production version isn't due until September. -

Anyone sent in their car for a major servicing there before, like change of engine oil, parts etc etc? I know this shop specialised in tyres and i have changed mine there just a few days ago which was a pretty good experience. Thought of letting them service my car at the same time while doing rotation 2 months later as the boss seems sincere and honest. Need some reviews first if possible

Surf through sgCarMart, finally found a favourite "Manual" SUV as, BMW X6 but......, there is not Clutch pedal, can anyone tell me what a "Manual" it is :angry: can't understand why SUV made as all Auto in Singapore, SUV is for off road adventure, M/T is basic equipped, if want auto, go for MPV lah :angry:

I think many of you have been waiting for this... I know i know, i've been holding back on you all on these pictures but truth be told, i was hoping to finish off all the automotive posts before starting on them ladies. I think since most of you won't be reading this anyway, i will keep my comments short. Here we go! Kawaiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii~ She was promoting something... i forgot what it was. I think it was side indicator lamps... Gotta get me shot of the side indicator now... She keeps getting in the way! Since the previous girl kept getting in the way of my side indicator shot, i moved on... Nitto chicks. There... better...

Tokyo Auto Salon 2012 - Honda Of all the manufacturers at the Auto Salon, Honda had one of the most varied showcases around, showcasing their classics, hybrids, JGTC racers, an open wheeled racer, as well as their street cars. The most anticipated of them all for me would be this pair of Supercharged CR-Zs. Tagged, CR-Z Type-RRs, i sure hope they make it to production. Looking menacing in orange or green, pick your favourite. Looks like this kid just wants the engine. These 2 look ready to hit the tracks. A cool vending machine for you to purchase some classic themed t-shirts. That's Snoopy there! I should have bought a t-shirt on the 1st day i arrived because on they were all sold out when i came back on the 3rd day. You could buy your Honda memorabilia here too. I bought a Choro-Q CRX. Following up the classic cars featured previously, the Vtec pioneers also brought along some of their rejuvenated past heros, like the S800 above. Immaculate. Probably the cleanest Best around? The original Honda Life van. Even old bikes were featured.

folks, My N16's auto tranny is having some intermittent problems recently. When shifting from gear 1 to gear 2, sometimes it enters into neutral instead. I had to release the throttle totally and it will be back to normal. It doesn't happen very often so my mech says it is hard for him to troubleshoot. Which I agree. Just changed ATF 8,000km ago so no point changing it again. My mech says if there is a need to change gearbox it will cost 1k+. My car has only 2 years left on the COE so I am trying to spend as little as possible. Any alternatives that you can advise? Thank you.

Just wanna share with forumer here. First time servicing at this workshop at Circuit Rd. I took the $110 package. After checking, recommended to change air filter $28, auto transmission oil $90, aircon filter $28 & service throttle body/resetting $70. Total damage $326. The boss & workers there are friendly. I used to go to Riverview but want to give other workshop a try. The boss adviced me to change spark plug & brake pad on 50k servicing. Any feedback is most welcome.

When it comes to automatic transmissions, four speed auto transmissions are fast getting replaced with more advanced auto transmissions. More automakers are introducing six, seven and even eight speed automatic transmission into their vehicles nowadays. These introductions are made mainly for fuel efficiency reasons, to get more kilometres out of their fuel consumption usage. But, there are also some automakers such as Nissan, who are moving towards the usage of continuously variable transmissions (CVTs). But that is not the case for Hyundai as the Korean automaker has preferred dual clutch transmissions over continuously variable transmissions. Mike O

Currently, a lot of cars with semi auto transmission have the orientation of : Push up + Pull Down - A few cars comes with reverse orientation of Push up - Pull down + Which one do you find more natural? Maybe I drove manuals before, I find the reverse orientation more natural for drivers. Any views to share?

Hello to all , Base on newspaper report there are about 2,000 car workshops in Singapore, do anyone out there know how many mechanics are employed by the shops. My rule to thumb estimate is averaging 5 mech per shop, total about 10,000 mechanic. What is your estimate ?

Hello guys! Would appreciate some helpful input here.. I'm currently using Outlook 2010 in the office and Entourage 2008 at home. I will be travelling for a week and will need to have an Out Of Office auto reply whenever a new email comes in. I'm on Pop3, and not using any exchange server. I guess I have to switch on my Outlook or Entourage all the time for the auto reply to work? This seems pretty frustrating as it means I have to bring my laptop and have the Outlook or Entourage running all the time for the auto reply to work? Any way to get around this? Thanks!

Hi, I drive to Malaysia once a year. Is there a per trip car breakdown insurance such that it'll include towing back to Singapore in case of breakdown and also roadside assistance like tyre puncture and flat battery ? One trip per year doesn't justify for the AAS membership. TIA !

A mechanic from TCM said it is not recommended to push the gear to neutral while going down slope because when you shift back to drive mode, the gears wont have enough power to shift back properly?

Hi Folks, Yesterday, I came across Cars International that provides complete auto restoration services. Their deal is $388 for 1 year or $688 for 3 years. Their service includes these 3-steps restoration: Step1 - Lacquer Compound Step 2 - Power Polish Step 3 - Sealant Wax They will take care of interior too (e.g. leather, dashboard). My qtns are:- 1. Has anyone here tried their service before. Are they reliable? 2. My white car is 3 weeks old. They said if I don't do the above 3 steps, my white car will deteroriate quickly by turning to yellowish white. Is there any truth to that? Thanks for your advices!

Today when to an auto trans workshop for a checkup because my car encountered an incident recently where there is difficulty in shifting from 1st to 2nd gear. The problem has since disappear by itself. Workshop recommends me to overhaul the auto trans since my car has already hit 110k mileage. Like to hear from members here, have you ever overhaul or replace your auto trans before? If so at what mileage did you overhaul. Anyone has driven their car for many years without an auto trans overhaul? If so, what is your car's current mileage or if you have sold your car, at what mileage did you sell?

hiii my car at 1500rpm, funny crank sound or half clutch(auto gear box), i suspect something happened during the atf change, just change and run in 10k, current 150km, this workshop quite a dissapointment when comes to servicing those real problems.. i just encountered this one..i am first owner, so wanna see how first owners ride thru the 7 years, maybe then i do another car purchase.....i do the 2000 rpm, and onwards all super smooth, cvvt, etc.low rpm at 1500rpm also very smooth, except this 1500 mark...issit i never give enuf petrol to the metal head..? also need a super experience mechanice ear to pin point the exact prob.. i believe and know they can tell...cos ... u know u know...no need guess one...its mechanical. -

There is something wrong with my gearbox. It is ok when I accelerate gently from 0-120. But when during constant speed, I release acceleration, rpm drop to below 2000 then I step hard on the acceleration again, the rpm will go up, but car did not accelerate. Mechanic told me it gear slip. So now I face with a 2 option 1)repair gearbox 2)get a recond 2nd hand gearbox Anyone can advise me where can get cheap repair for gear box or where can get a cheap recond one. Or anyone selling can give me a msg at 90627955
