  1. Today went to show room to test these 2 cars. I found that Kia forte and Avante both got weaker pick compare to my 1.5A Vios. The Avante steering wheel is so loose even when the speed goes up to 80. The SE told me its electric steering? Tested Vios and Impreza later and the sterring wheel is stiff and good. Anyone drving a Avante also feel the same looseness?
  2. To fellow Avante drivers, Need help in setting radio stations on my HU (Pioneer DEH-P5150UB). Been trying for a long time to no avail and I don't understand the instructions booklet. Can any avante drivers help?
  3. New Hyundai Avante: Engine Capacity (cc) : 1591 Top Speed (km/h) : 185 Max Power (bhp) : 121 Max Torque (Nm) : 153 Price: $61,999 with COE Altis: Engine Capacity (cc) : 1598 Top Speed (km/h) : 185 Max Power (bhp) : 110 Max Torque (Nm) : 150 Price : $55,988 with COE
  4. Don't know if there is already a thread on this, but definately there isn't a poll on this. So come on don't be shy, take your pick. Take everything into consideration la, be it value for money, fuel consumption, design, safety, brand, factor EVERYTHING in ! I know i30 not really in the same cat as the other 2 but trust me, i've seen a lot of people comparing between these 3.
  5. Hi all, just bought a used Avante. The car is really basic. Want to install accessories like leather seats, pioneer 2 din HU, reverse sensor and tinting. Any recomendations? Can PM me? Thanks.
  6. my friend just bought this kit for 3k looks amazing! couldnt really tell its an avante Source: http://www.babomall.com/rd/index.html?pg=d...a&cb=na_m_s
  7. At S$56,999, it is S$5,000 more expensive than the best seller - Toyota Corolla Altis 1.6
  8. hi bros, someone in the forum here says that the avante aircon not cold problem can be solved by DIY wrapping of one of the air con cable with a rubber insulator. does any bros here have a diagram of which cable i should wrap the rubber around with?
  9. Bros, how do u guys view dis 2 models? r they worth buying and how's their fc?? thanks bros for ur feedback
  10. Hi folks, Was helping a friend to calculate the feasibility of switching to a CNG car and in the process I am interested of making a switch in the near future too. One car that comes into mind is the Hyundai Avante basic version. Below is what I have gathered after going for a test drive today. Just want to share the details with everyone here so that you can take this as a reference if you are also considering a CNG ride. If I miss out any important steps in the calculations, please point out to me. thanks. Avante 1.6A ~ $49k Avante 1.6A (CNG) ~ $48k OMV ~$12k CNG rebate - 40% ~ $4.8k CNG version is 1k cheaper because garhment is giving a 40% rebate on the OMV if we opt for the green diamond label. About 4k goes to the installation of the CNG kit by a local company, and the balance are upfront savings to us car buyers. My estimated mileage per year = 25,000km Current 95RON petrol = $2.236 per litre (subject to 10% discount) Current SG CNG = $1.49 per kg Gathered from the SE that a 66L CNG tank will be installed and it has a range of about 200km. Estimated amount of CNG that it can contain is ~10kg. Estimated FC for Avante on petrol = 13km/L Estimated FC for Avante on CNG = 200km/10kg = 20km/kg Total petrol used per year (if run on petrol only) = 25000/13 = 1923 litres Total petrol expenditure per year = 1923*2.236*0.9 = $3870 Total CNg used per year (if run on CNG only) = 25000/20 = 1250kg Total CNG expenditure per year = 1250*1.49 = $1935 In reality, we know that it is not possible to run 100% on CNG for such a car. Petrol will still need to be used during engine start, idling and maybe even when the speed is low. Also, we may run on petrol only for a short distance when the CNG tanks goes totally dry and we wait for the next top up. So for easy calculation, I am assuming a worst case scenario ratio of 50:50 on CNG:petrol. On a mixed mode, the total fuel expenditure per year is $2902.50 => savings per year for mixed mode is $967.50. Because a 40% rebate is given upfront for going green, a CNG Avante's OMV will be 40% lower as well. Based on my own habit of changing ride on the 4th to 5th year, the annual depreciation of Avante, based on paper value alone is 1k difference between the CNG version and the non-CNG one. So in effect, the potential savings of 1k under the worst case scenario is offset by the 1k difference in the annual depreciation of the car. So, still worth to get the CNG version or not? Of course in real life, many bros may pump JB CNG which is really cheap and the mixed usage ratio may be higher in favour of the CNG version. Also, I was told that the CNG version could command a higher body value during resale...food for thought. Comments welcome.
  11. If you are here or if you know this driver with P-Plate, kindly PM me. *Mods request to have this around for a while. Not a big issue, would not want to disclose more than this bit of information provided but definitely something to be sorted out.
  12. Hi guys, this is gonna be my first car so need to ask you gurus out there for advise ya. My key concern is on protecting the car paintwork from the start. Does the car come with paint protection (eg system 6) or anti rust (tuff kote). Was thinking if i will need to do this after i collect the car? Was thinking of going for Sys 6 and anti rust at Tuff. Seems like there are so many camps out there read liao more
  13. actually i written a nice review but i accident DC. Anyway i will write a quite one. Vios 50,888 J 52,888 E 55,888 G
  14. Was 1stly position as a Corolla Killer but seems to lose steam and "get killed" in the process instead. Last heard, BM has cleared all its old stock of Altis and awaiting arrival of new Altis without DVVT-i. What do you think? Regards,
  15. As someone who drove many times Galant 2.0AT, Lancer MT/AT, Colt AT, Corolla MT/AT, Altis AT, Vios AT, Alfa 147 1.6MT, and can sort of appreciate 'soul' and 'passion' in alfa speak, I test drove Avante 1.6 and 2.0 today. (not bashing Hyundai or Avante, just trying to give my objective view). Verdict: Bland. 1.6 Very similar to Altis, in that it's a get-you-from-pt-A-to-B kinda car, but differs in that the engine is louder, and acceleration is linear. Need to go step by step as it climbs up, cannot skip any steps. Otherwise, except that I find the interior plastic a bit cheaper, it is very similar to Altis. Steering is very light at low speed (in my opinion, good esp for parking). $60,398 list price (w/Sunroof) with $2K no-questions-asked discount. all colors available (in-stock) except metalic sand (aka champagne) which Komoco does not bring in. 2.0 during acceleration, power below 2.5K RPM is similar to 1.6 model. then it jumps to 3.5-4K RPM and power kicks in (and engine screams appropriately). all this is during i almost floor the pedal. $67,398 list price (w/Sunroof) with $2K no-questions-asked discount. only silver and indigo blue available (in-stock), SE cannot give me a date if i choose to wait for a diff color. Sunroof Sunroof is two layers: external glass 'door', and internal fabric 'door'. the latter you've to open manually. external door, you control by 3 buttons. 1) open, to slide door back, 2) tilt (to get reverse air intake), and 3) close, to slide door forward. when opened, there is a wind deflector, so there won't be mad rush of wind into the cabin at highway speeds. everything is as per standard in-built sunroof that i had previously, except that when both doors are closed, and i press OPEN to open external door, by right, external door should drag internal door to open as well. in Avante, this does not happen. die die, internal door must be opened manually. and bec sunroof extends slightly beyond the back of your driver seat, your arm motion is slightly awkward, at least for me. as per the list price, the sunroof costs $2K. summary: $7K diff for an engine that feels diff only above 3.5K RPM (and of cos the exterior color) COE: 3-bid non-guaranteed. Financing: Maybank (default) or DBS. 2.8% interest regardless of loan amount and period. Insurance: HSBC. Age group: 36-40. $893/yr for 1.6 model, $1,131/yr for 2.0 model. Example: $60398 minus $2000 discount minus $10K down gives $48398. Loan 2.8% for 8 years gives $618 monthly. all above without negotiation.
  16. hey bros. my dad got a maroon avante 2month ago and right after he took the car i immediately drive to the tire shop to change to a pair of 17inch. and obviously do alignment and adjustment here and there. a few days ago while only traveling at 90+ the car vibate. and i was sitting at the back as my dad is driving. whenever i sit behind it's smooth comfortable but small. but this time it caught me cos i see the dashboard shaking. bro suggest it's suspension but i don't think so as it's still quite new. when i took over the wheels. i tried at a higher speed. 110-120 the streeing cannot keep still. car vibrate. it's dangerous, but at normal speed it's okay. any bros knw what's going on?
  17. Just bought this 2001 car recently, din really see any on the roads. Mine's a 5 door manual version. anyone still owns this? would like to check the FC currently, mine's doing about 10km/l (light footed driving below legal speed limits 90% of the time) which seems quite bad for a manual car... any comments?
  18. One of its kind!!! Very original!
  19. Which one would u choose? Please state ur reasons..... I cant decide between both of them..... Please advice.....
  20. I seriously think it's the driver this time, or is this a good product? http://www.ammpaf.com/ read the review sections: Humiliated Black Honda Integra (03-02-07 PIE) 1,998cc, 16v in-line 4 160bhp at 6,500rpm 191Nm at 4,000rpm "160HP..... abt 40 HP more than mine, still neck to neck from 100km/h to 160km/h.... and of cos i won... thanks to Max-Zone GT." Anyone to comment?

  23. http://www.sgcarmart.com/main/listing.php?...1=0&PR2=&FR=Any Just wondering of any of the above 2 Avantes for sale could be the accident Avante I spotted at Komoco when I sent my Getz for servicing last mth. But I could be wrong. There are many blue Avantes on the road.
  24. Many of us who signed the dotted line have yet to recieve our new Avante. In the mean time we are suffering losses as our trade-in car values drops and drops. Please click on this link; http://clubhyundai.org/forums/viewtopic.ph...der=asc&start=0
