  5. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hhx3TL4v--c The year of the horse may be round the corner but it is a video of a cow and a calf being ferried on the back of a lorry in Singapore that has caught the attention of netizens. In a video posted on Jan 19 by Facebook user Eunice Lim, the animals were seen transported on a lorry with an open back along an expressway in Singapore. Both the cow and calf did not seem to be secured onto the vehicle. The video has been shared close to 900 times. Viewers who posted comments about the video were concerned if this was legal and questioned what would happen if the animals leapt off the moving vehicle. Others drew parallels to a scene from the movie The Hangover Part III, where one of the movie characters transported a giraffe in the backseat of his convertible. Responding to queries from The Straits Times, the Agri-Food & Veterinary Authority (AVA) of Singapore said while there are no specific regulations governing the transport of cattle, animals should be transported safely and comfortably. "Usually the cattle is secured by a short tether to the vehicle and accompanied by a handler," an AVA spokesman said. The AVA added that it will speak with the farm about this incident and "advise them accordingly". 12. Nostalgic sia. TOKYO: Japanese automaker Honda said Thursday it will return to Formula One in 2015 as an engine supplier to British team McLaren in a bid to revive their championship-winning partnership. Honda president Takanobu Ito said "McLaren-Honda" will aim to become "number one" in the elite racing world. "Honda is a company that has grown by participating in and winning races," he told a Tokyo press conference. McLaren boss Martin Whitmarsh said at the joint press event their "legendary Formula One partnership" would restart. "McLaren and Honda are about to embark on a new and extremely exciting adventure together," he said. "On behalf of everyone at McLaren, and also everyone who loves Formula One, I am delighted to welcome Honda back to the sport." Ito refused to be drawn on how much money Honda would be putting into the project, but said it was determined to succeed. "It is wonderful timing that we announced it today. Personally, I'm very happy about it," he said. Ito said Honda's going it alone in an earlier incarnation had not proved easy and a tie-up like this would prove fruitful. "It is ideal to compete as a McLaren-Honda team. I hope we can continue for a long time," he said. The Japanese automaker pulled out of F1 after the 2008 season, ending an involvement that began in the 1960s, to cut costs during the economic downturn that ravaged Japanese exports to the United States and Europe. It sold its team to former principal Ross Brawn the next year. A recent change in F1 rules, promoting the use of environmentally friendlier turbo engines, has made the comeback decision easier because Honda could readily transfer the technology to its commercial vehicles. The McLaren-Honda alliance conquered F1 from 1988 to 1991 with Ayrton Senna and Alain Prost at the wheel. Honda started racing in F1 as a full-fledged team in 1964, and stayed until 1968. During that time, it won two races. Then, as a supplier of engines to other teams including McLaren, Williams and Lotus, it raced from 1983 to 1992 and won 69 races. After an eight-year hiatus, Honda returned as an engine provider and then part owner of the BAR team from 2000 to 2005. In 2006 it took full control and renamed it Honda. Formula One chief Bernie Ecclestone welcomed the Japanese firm back into the fold. "It is a great pleasure to see Honda back in Formula One," he was quoted as saying in a statement issued by Honda. "Their engine technology and passion for motor sports make them a natural Formula One contender." - AFP/sb

  17. This may be a redundant question, but what would your opinion be on this matter? A 2.4L camry makes about 160hp. Quite a poor figure as opposed to Honda's average 160hp 2.0L K20A3/K20Z2 engines that we see on BnB Accords and Civics. A 1.6L 20V Blacktop/Silvertop 4AGE could easily make 160-170hp right out of the box with lots of room to spare. It also weighs considerably less than most engines today. If they updated their Blacktop/Silvertop engine to 2.0L in displacement, the engine could push out about 260+hp if they use better intake/exhaust ports and newer VVTi. That would be close to Evo territory and keep in mind, all of this while still being NA. If fitted onto their upcoming upcoming Supra (FT-HS) with a small turbo, then nb can reach 400hp minimum liao

  20. Mini Acura NSX or S2000? While the words "Small NSX" may conjure up visions of a successor to the S2000, our inside source tells us this is not the case, and that it will look much like a shrunken version of the big-boy NSX, something along the lines of the car you see in this artist's impression. Our source also tells us that like the NSX, it will be equipped with a version of Honda's SH-AWD system. Acura NSX Concept Front Three Quarters Power will likely be provided by a turbocharged direct-injection engine. Honda currently has a number of engines that could fit the bill, including the 3.5-liter V-6, 2.4-liter I-4, and 2.0-liter I-4 already offered in several of its American-market products. Given Honda's America-focused development, overseas engines such as its 660cc and 1.0-liter mills are unlikely to be considered. Of the possible three, the 2.4-liter is the most likely candidate. There's also the possibility that it will be fitted with some kind of hybrid drivetrain.

  22. Dear bro and sis, Need your opinion and advice, hope you all can help. Recently I bought a new car and put down my deposit. At the same time, i will trade in my old car to the dealer. I took the full loan so I will get back tsome money from the dealer. I will collect my car soon. i need to hand over the old car to the dealer on the day when i colkect my new car. However I was told by the dealer that I only can get the trade in amount plus the deposit back from dealer after one month only. The dealer will pay me back with cheque, that's need time to process. This is the reason I got from the dealer. Is this the normal practice? Do you guy think this is normal when buy new car and trade in the old car with them? I thought I should collect the trade in amount plus the deposit from dealer after hand over my old car since the owner name of my old car will be transferred to dealer? Hope to hear from you guys soon . Thanks.
  23. Changing alimony laws will get women back to work: Source Straits Times Date 14 Dec 2012 IT IS perhaps timely to relook the long-standing alimony laws to encourage more women to return to work ("Keep kids in school till 7pm so mums can go to work?"; last Friday). In Scandinavian countries such as Sweden, alimony laws, along with other measures like extensive childcare facilities, serve to keep women in the workforce. Alimony is seldom granted except in certain circumstances where a spouse becomes financially needy upon a divorce. This sends a strong signal to women that they are responsible for their own finances after divorce. As such, most women continue working while having a family. In Singapore, however, the option of alimony is open to every married woman no matter how well off or highly educated she is. This safety net makes it less risky for her to quit her job to meet the needs of her family. Should her marriage fail, she can depend on alimony payment from her former husband to tide her over. Laws enacted to enforce alimony payment further strengthens the idea that staying home poses little financial risk. Alimony laws in Singapore were forged in the 60s when most women were homemakers. The economic situation of women has improved tremendously over the years. Many are now highly educated and pursuing successful careers. The laws need to move with the times. Access to alimony should be restricted to women from the low educational and income levels and when they could be in a dire financial situation upon divorce. This will send a strong message, especially to highly-educated women, that staying home would no longer be a viable option for them. Sulthan Niaz Source: Straits Times
