  1. Be it car or hi fi or computer, modification can be addictive. Some do it blindly and some can't stop doing it. Save for those top of the line big ticket items perhaps, even a car costing maybe SGD80K to SGD100K can be mod for improvement. The question I ask is - is there any compromise and if it is worth the compromise ? Be it more power, sound reduction in cabin, horn, better pick up, improved stability improved FC etc etc, what your best mod for the dollar ? Please state any compromise and if it is worth the compromise. I've been driving for more than 10 years now, been looking and reading for mod to do on my car, but have yet to be convinced if any of them actually work with little or no compromise. Please share your experiance and thoughts.
  2. Minor front end collisions can cost big bucks on BMW 5 and 6 Series AUTOMOTIVE NEWS[/url] Posted Date: 10/27/05 Note to owners of BMW 5- and 6 Series cars: Drive with care. Even slight damage to the front of the car can be expensive. In some cases, insurers are declaring a lightly wrecked car a total loss. Why? Because the front end of the car -- built with high-tech aluminum, rivets and glue -- can be hard to repair, according to the Los Angeles Times. The front-end structure, which includes an aluminum firewall and body rails, weighs only 100 pounds. The minimal weight helps BMW achieve an ideal 50/50 fore-aft weight balance for better road handling. Because tolerances are so tight, if the front structure is bent by more than 1 millimeter in a crash, it must be replaced, not bent back to place, BMW says. The automaker recommends that repairmen be specially trained and use only BMW-certified tools and supplies, such as rivets. Experts say it can cost an independent repair shop as much as $100,000 for the training and special tools
  3. She bang me from behind!!! I stopped my Optra to check the damage. Oh! To my surprise, the Lancer front bumper has dented badly however, my Optra back bumper only suffer slight scratches. Checked the main body for any dent but luckily there isn't. I always believe the heavy steel (high FC) has it reasons. Now it proved again.
  4. Anyone, installed side trim that helps protect against doors banging the car, follows trim line of car? I noticed some cars like Getz has it. The MSCP where I live got plenty of cabs, vans, small lorries parked as the area got lots of eateries/coffeshops, there are lots of non-resident cars around. I dont really fancy parking like at the 4 level Anyway, none of the Aveos I have seen so far got this side strip stuff.
  5. Damn..... kanna knock on my bumper and left side of the bonet.....my left head light dropped out also..... was driving on the extreme right lane...about to turn right.... the lorry on my left... turning right too... then suddenly stir right into my turning lane..... use the back of his lorry and bang my left bonet corner.... now CNY no body to repair.... bloody sxxt.... pui.... that road damn suay... kanna knock on the same junction before too. can anyone suggest where to repair better.... go back to star auto or ntuc authorised workshop... will going to other workshop to do repair job void any parts warranty...mostly external damages.
  6. I kenna rear ended. Only scratches so wave the driver off. Dondon kenna rear ended. Substantial damage. Ultraman meet monster and Ultraman's ultramobile kenna damage. Why people like to ram Chevy. American issit? Buay song Bush's foreign policy therefore must ram ah? Test American metal whether as tough as Japanese metal issit? Hope that the repairs to Dondon's Optra will be complete. Maybe can augment with reactive armor. Bang already set off mini explosion to blast banger with more damage. I think the repairs can be easily done but painful lah. Hopefully Ultraman will transform and crush bangers' car with his Ultrafoot. He then sway cannot claim because damage is caused by act of superhero.
