Today, I learnt that it is imperative we check the battery that is sold to us when we have the battery of our precious watches replaced. Out of convenience, Wifey had the battery for her Omega watch changed less than six months ago at White Sands SC, which cost her $25. Over the weekend, the watch died on her. Our first thought was that an inferior battery was used. But our main worry was that the malfunction could be due to faulty mechanism. To allay our worries, we brought it to a watch shop in Loyang Point. I trust the proprietor because my Tag Heuer's battery was replaced by him more than a year ago and the watch is still working fine. It was at the shop I learnt something disturbing. The guy removed the battery and showed me that it had leaked, staining part of the internal component. He said he would try his best to remove the leakage from the watch, hoping that the acid had not corroded the mechanism. Much to our relief, he was able to get the watch working again with a new battery. Phew! It seemed that the watch shop at White Sands is not the only unethical shop. I learnt from him that some watch shops in Tampines Central charge customers for a premium battery when the actual battery is of Japan origin, which typically cost only $5. Some are even more unscrupulous, to the extent of using those made in China. I wonder how prevalent is this practice in Singapore. So, it pays to be cynical sometimes. Where our watches are concerned, we should inspect the battery before it is inserted into our beloved watches.

Have anyone bro install car second battery in their ride? Example the stock battery is in the engine bay and they install another car battery in the boot ... Cause I feels that my car is under powered ... so was thinking of installing car second battery in the boot. But will it affects or damage the devices in the car? Thanks ~

Hi all , How do you know that battery going to be flat ? When the car starts , it prompt you "switch to economy mode " . Can this be 1 of the symptoms that battery is weak too ? Cranking sound . Usually it took me 1 crank to start the engine . But yesterday the cranking sound is long before engine start , can this also telling you that battery going to be flat soon ? Pls advise

Can anyone advise if it is possible to recycle regular alkaline/heavy duty batteries? I have read that rechargeable batteries are recyclable, but found nothing about regular single use batteries. Personal belief that we are using a lot, and perhaps we can do more to re-use, re-purpose and recycle stuff. Thanks!

Hi bros, my turn to ask... i have been changing car batteries at random location. the last change was at Soh brothers... he gave me a donno what GT brand which lasted only around 18months. This time round, i wan to buy Amaron or Varta (basically the more branded ones). where should i get it from? i need installation too. lazy to dirty my hands to change battery.

Hi Bros, I encountered car tremble issue whenever i starts to brake followed by completed stop. I just did a battery changed because the battery when dead on me. I noticed the voltage dropped from 14v to 12/11v whenever i brake followed by completed stop. After tremble for few secs, the voltage went up to 14v again. No issues of trembling when moving and the voltage is stable at 14v.. Anyone encountered this before? Could it due to battery not full charged yet or alternator faulty? Please advice.

2years old mazda 3 got slow charging battery, normal?

Hi guys, I'm a new driver and just bought a 2nd hand Mazda which is close to 2 years old and close to 20k kms. So I sent it to Mazda service centre to do the 20k service this morning after driving it for a few days which I didn't notice any problem with the car. I just got a call from the Mazda technician telling me that the battery is charging very slowly and they suggest to replace it with a new one at the cost of S$145. I have very little knowledge about cars but after google a little bit I think the price is higher than purchasing from 3rd party but that I can accept since everything from the original manufacturer is more expensive than from open market. But a faulty battery on a 2 years old car, is that reasonable? how long does car batteries usually last. And any suggestions for a newbie on (consumable) car parts purchases in Singapore? And any recommended service/repair shop after warranty is over? or shall I stick to Mazda for service/repair? I live in Choa Chu Kang and work in Clementi so any suggestion closer will be appreciated. Thanks a lot! -
Suddenly my Vezel (bought end Jun 2015) does not auto-switch off (when I come to a stop) anymore. Is it because it sensed that the battery is getting low? By the way, what sort of battery does the Vezel need? Does AA provide this? How much roughly? Thanks.

Thinking of getting the Redmi Note 3 @ $299. It has a 4000mAh battery with dual sim function. Alternative would be note 5 but a bit out of budget. Any grabcar/uber drivers here? What are your phone you used for work? The huawei I purchase from Grabcar cmi.

Can recommend brand. Apparently, my car battery can start my engine quite well but it cant hold charge long enough. When my Blackvue is running it will just drain till left 12v before it cut off. Battery CCA test show good. What i read is the alternator quick charge doesn't really charge the battery, only top off. You need a wall charger to really deep charge the battery. I top off the electrolyte and my specific gravity is less than 1.25 at 12 V

Last July installed 2 no. FINE CR-200HD cameras with 'Power Magic' in continuous running mode. My 2l Picnic also has a typical Pioneer 7" Audio System with 2 front & back speaker and a pair of tweeter. Had 2 backseat LCD as well. After running the cameras for a 1-2 weeks my Alternator charging system happen to die off. (cost >S$2k to change, new battery is 45 AH.) Suspected the 'Power Magic' or the new installed cameras causing the problem. Re-installed to an original 'Power Magic' The problem now is the battery will drain off (unable to start up the car) if it is left for more than 1-2 days. Check with AD - no problem, check with camera installed guy - no problem as the Power Magic is able to power-off the cameras at a preset voltage of about 11.8VDC. They suggest replacing with a higher capacity battery. Any comment? Thanks.

Today my stock car battery dead after 27 months. Finally find a shop selling car battery. He changed the Amoron brand (60A-green color) made from India. First time hearding this brand for me. Is this battery ok? As long as it is stable and does not explore and burn. I am pretty much ok with it. Hope to hear someone who use it before.

For some time, i'm been wondering about potential dangers of EMF from hybrid batteries. These batteries are in big capacity and usually placed in close proximity to drivers and passengers. The car cabin space is very small. So google is my best friend. For those thinking of getting hybrid cars or already driving one, think about EMF dangers. POV, i don't trust the claims from car makers. There are already lots of cheating done on fuel consumption. I'm not surprised if they cheat on the EMF test results. Fuel cheating doesn't damage your health, but EMF will. Understand that BM is giving 10 yrs warranty to Prius battery, but for PI owner, can please share what is you plan for *touch wood* in case issue with the battery? Because I am hesitating whether want to go hybrid with PI, seems quite common on the road now, just wondering how the battery reliability is covered?

Any bros here tried connecting small solar panels (18v) like 4W or so to trickle charge your battery especially if you seldom drives? Do you connect the solar panel directly to battery with the wires to car still connected? What voltage/wattage solar panel you you use? When your car starts, will the alternator power kill the solar panel if you leave it there?

So my Finevu CR300HD and CR500HD battery went dead. Thatz the normal thing for Finevu car cameras with lithium polymer batteries. After reading dashcam forum on how others replace their battery, I going to replace mine my way. I was thinking, since the lithium polymer will be dead in one year's time, why not just solder a connect and replace the battery externally. Much easier than open up the camera again. Remove the battery, de-solder the circuit board from the battery and solder the JST connector wires. Using my dremel, I drilled a nice clean hole thru the two casings.

Anyone tried this? In terms of emergency can help to charge up battery and go to workshop and replace your battery. Will never know when our car battery will suddenly fail us without warning. Came across this in e bay. Any comments? Emergency Car Battery Start Up Kit
