  1. TL;DR - A van driver was caught physically abusing a female passenger by grabbing her head back and forth. It seems like they were in a heated argument where the man loses it and trashes her. Controversial topic but agree to disagree: Chivalry is dead (almost, kinda?) Watch this 26-second clip of this vulnerable passenger getting whacked by the driver. What happened? It is apparent that the driver was physically (and highly likely, verbally) abusing his passenger. Judging from how violently he threw her head, it was definitely a very, very heated argument. The defenseless was also seen bending over to a vulnerable state. Poor thing. It seems as though the violence continued on for quite some time. As much as we do not know the context of the situation, I, for one, believe that men should never resort to violence, especially on a susceptible female. And of course, violence in itself does not resolve anything. Online Chatter Unfortunately, not every girl gets to be a passenger princess. Was this man trying to practice his WWE headbutting stunt on her or something? Ok but for real, no matter what, a man should never lay hands on a female. NEVER! Takeaway No matter how good you are at multi-tasking, you should not drive and argue simultaneously as driving requires maximum concentration. 2. Seem like I had beat the red light at slow speed where can sense the bright flash. I was doing a left turn & it is not going straight or turning right. Any idea how to go about appealing? If appeal does it means waive off the fine & the points? Some expert offering the solution: (1) Use other driver license to own it up. Pay fine + demerit points. (2) Appeal to TP. (3) Appeal to MP. Normally how long would get the letter to be sent to the home address? Hope do not have then can Z.zzz in peace.
  3. Unlike our previous blog post, this is neither weird nor uncommon. Unfortunately. Shot earlier today from an unknown camera vehicle, a red light-beating mini lorry which was carrying an unspecified number of passengers at the back, flipped when a taxi smashed into it. The accident happened at the junction of Tanjong Katong South and Mountbatten road with the driver of the Transcab taxi appearing fazed but unhurt. The video, which was post by SG Road Vigilante, did not mention what injuries there were and how many were hurt but we could see at least two passengers emerging from rear of the lorry after it was on its side. Obviously, this was the fault of the lorry driver and the netizens wasted no time slamming him online. One of them even put up a good point on why are people still allowed to sit on the rear of lorries where there are no seat belts. We wish everyone who was hurt in the accident a speedy recovery.
  4. ICA officers who hit truck driver at Woodlands Crossing have been taken off operational duties (video at URL) Two Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA) officers who were caught on video hitting a truck driver on Friday (Dec 21) have been taken off operational duties, ICA said. Several Stompers alerted Stomp to the video that has been circulating online. In the video, the two officers wearing fluorescent vests are seen confronting a man sitting on a grass patch next to a road. One of the officers lunges towards the man who then falls on his side. They are then seen pointing fingers at the man while talking to him. ICA said in a statement posted on their Facebook page at about 9.37am that they are aware of the incident that happened near Woodlands Checkpoint on Dec 21 at about 4.40pm. "Preliminary investigations showed that the two officers, who were performing traffic control duties at Woodlands Crossing, were directing the container truck which was on its way to Woodlands Checkpoint for departure clearance," it said. The truck driver, who was travelling on the rightmost lane of the three-lane carriageway, disregarded the officers' instructions and reportedly drove recklessly across three lanes into the officers' direction, endangering the lives of the officers and of other road users. The officers then confronted the driver and engaged in a physical altercation with him. In its statement, ICA said it takes a serious view of the incident: "Our officers are expected to discharge their duties professionally. "ICA does not condone such behaviour, even if the driver may have disregarded the safety of others, and has referred both officers to the Police following our preliminary investigations. "The officers have also been taken off operational duties pending the Police investigation."
  5. Jail for father who beat 9-year-old son with hanger over homework SINGAPORE: A 35-year-old man who subjected his nine-year-old son to a beating over homework was sentenced to four months' jail on Thursday (Dec 6). The man, who cannot be named due to a gag order protecting the boy's identity, pleaded guilty in June to one charge of ill-treating a child in his custody. The incident occurred at about 9pm on Aug 4 last year, when the man's 34-year-old wife left the house for dinner with her friends. She left her son in her husband's care, and the young child was seated at the dining table doing his homework while the accused was watching television. More than an hour later, the boy asked his father for help with his homework. The man told him to think of the answers on his own, and the boy gave several answers which were wrong. "The accused was angered by the victim's mistakes," said the prosecutor. He left the dining room, returning with a plastic hanger while his son begged him for leniency. He grabbed the boy's hand and yanked him forcefully from the chair, causing him to tumble onto the floor. He then pulled him up by his left leg, so that the boy was held upside down, and hit him on his buttocks and legs with the hanger, swinging it down "with his full strength", court documents said. The man then shouted at his son, who was lying on the ground in a daze. The boy told his father that he really did not know the answers to his homework questions, enraging him further. The accused kicked his son twice, shouting at him: "You know why you don't know, you're stupid!" He then threw the hanger at the boy and kicked him again before chasing him into the bedroom, where he hit the boy's buttocks with his hands. The assault on the boy was captured by a closed-circuit television camera mounted on a ledge in the dining room and was played to the court. A neighbour called the police at 10.43pm, saying that he heard a child crying out and he thought it was child abuse. When the boy's mother returned home, the child told her what happened and she retrieved the CCTV footage. The boy was admitted to hospital, where a medical report showed that he suffered multiple hematomas or bruises on his body, including hook-shaped ones measuring 3cm and 6cm. The couple is currently undergoing divorce proceedings. DEFENCE ASKS FOR PROBATION, SAYING RELATIONSHIP HAS IMPROVED Deputy Public Prosecutor Jotham Tay asked for four months' jail, saying that the facts were alarming. "It is clear that it was not done simply in a controlled manner for the purpose of discipline, but out of rage," he said. The man's defence lawyer, T U Naidu, asked instead for probation, saying that the relationship between the accused and the victim has "greatly improved". The accused has been attending counselling, he added, and the entire family is now close enough to assure the court that there will not be any chance of reoccurrence. "It is admitted that he lost his cool," said the lawyer. "My client is greatly remorseful. Any form of custodial sentence is going to affect what has been built up thus far between the (accused) and the son." Addressing the accused, who stood in the dock with his head bowed throughout the hearing, District Judge Eddy Tham said there was no excuse for the "totally disproportionate" actions, no matter how frustrated the accused had been with his son. He added that while he noted the improvement in the relationship, a message must be sent out on such violence by parents and caregivers, and said it was fortunate that the resulting injuries had not been more serious.
  6. Crazy footage of a car reversing all the way to the intersection to skip the traffic jam. Very clever, but also very dangerous, I think. Anybody knows whether a similar thing has been done in Singapore? Best not to try. http://dai.ly/x41oe50

(WOFL FOX 35 ORLANDO) - Daytona Beach police say a father beat up an 18-year-old man after he said he witnessed the teenager sexually abusing his son. According to a police report, Raymond Frolander is a family acquaintance who solicited the boy to engage in sexual activity at the boy's home around 1:30 a.m. on Friday. Authorities said the father walked in on the alleged abuse and then beat Frolander, leaving him bleeding and motionless on the floor. He then called 911 to report the incident. "I just walked in and found a grown man molesting my [name withheld], and I got him in a bloody puddle right now for you officer." The 35-year-old father said he had just left the house for a short while, and when he returned, he said he thought he heard something in the back bedroom. "I looked at Ray and said, 'What's going on?' He stood up, and his pants fell around his ankles," the father told the 911 dispatcher. "I knew what was going on, and I did what I had a right to do, except I didn't kill him." When officers arrived, they found Frolander unconscious on the floor. He was taken to Halifax Medical Center and later transported to the jail before appearing before a judge later in the day. According to the police report, the young victim disclosed there was a history of past sexual abuse involving the defendant, beginning when the victim was 8. Police said that during an interview, Frolander admitted he has had a sexual relationship with the victim over the past three years. "Here's a young man whose innocence was taken away from him," said Daytona Beach Police Chief Mike Chitwood. "Eight to 11-year-olds should be outside playing sports and video games, not cowering in fear. Chitwood said the father will not face any charges for the beating, because he was protecting his son as a crime was being committed. Frolander is charged with sexual battery on a child under 12 and has been denied bond by a Volusia County judge. Otherwise, is there anything I can do to report him?
