  1. [extract] http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D92gxpAcrRA After the introduction of the revised Continental GT Coupe and GTC convertible, Bentley is preparing the launch of the facelifted saloon version - the Flying Spur. As a build-up leads to the eventual launch of the 2014 Bentley Flying Spur during March
  2. You live in the US and have over $200,000 to spend. You are shopping for a luxury limosouine sedan and have narrowed down to two choices - A Bentley and a Mercedes AMG. But which is better? If you, like me are wondering why isn't a Rolls-Royce featured in this head to head video, well apparently Rolls didn't want to compete, or they were worried apparently. Another worthy contestant will be Maybach but they have folded - so to speak. So it was really interesting to see an uber luxury saloon and a well really expensive saloon competiting. Spoiler alert - the results are not surprising at all. Whats your take guys? If you had all the money in the world which luxury saloon would you guys buy?
  3. What can I say? Envious!!!! [thumbsup]
  4. The new Continental GT Speed is the fastest road-car to exit Bentley's factory in Crewe, U.K. and if you have the cash, place your orders with deliveries expected to start from October 2012. Bentley has released the full technical details for its new performance flagship, the Continental GT Speed that reaches a top speed of 330 km/h with power sent to all four wheels (60:40; rear biased). It will debut at the upcoming Moscow Motor Show on the 29th August. Pretty apt location for a luxury car. The GT Speed is powered by a monstrous 6.0-litre twin-turbo W12, developing 616bhp and 800Nm of torque. All the power is mated to a new ZF eight-speed close-ratio automatic transmission featuring
  5. Hey guys I was wondering if any one of you owns a Bentley or has driven one? I presently own an Audi RS5 and I plan on upgrading to a bentley supersport however i am on the fence about buying it brand new or second hand... I can afford both but, just curious if there is a stark diffrence. I have been to the Bentley show room and they claim that its better to get it brand new (possibly because its a sale for them) Fyi brand new Supersports cost around $990,000 and there is only one second hand one in singapore costing $808,000 http://www.sgcarmart.com/used_cars/info.ph...715&DL=2190 but Malayan motors can help me import an authorized used one. Thanks guys in advance
  6. [extract] If you speak to management at Bentley, you may think that the global economy is booming. The ultra-luxury sub-brand of German giant Volkswagen AG said its worldwide sales for the first half of 2012 rose 32% to 3,929 cars, driven in part by a nearly 26% increase in US sales to 1,140 cars. This allows US to re-emerge as Bentley
  7. These billionaires made it to the Forbes list as some of the richest people in the world, but their choice of rides varies. For example, one house hardware entrepreneur drives a car that would only fetch about $1,500 (S$1,864), while a software mogul could sell his car for $4.4 (S$5.47) million. While some vehicles are considered dream rides others made the list due to the owners. Though the source of this article is new, it is unsure if these billionaires have changed their rides. Carlos Slim Helu is the world's richest man, according to Forbes Bill Gates' Porsche 959 Coupe, one of only 230 in the world Alice Walton, heiress of the Wal-Mart, second-richest woman in the world. Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal Alsaud, member of the Saudi royal family Ingvard Kamprad, founder of Ikea, worth $28 Billion Michael Bloomberg Larry Ellison, founder of Oracle Warren Buffet Mark Zuckerberg, founder of Facebook Michael Dell, CEO Dell Computers Steve Ballmer from Microsoft with his Ford Hybrid Fusion Phil Knight, founder of Nike Francois-Henri Pinault, husband of Salma Hayek Laurene Powell Jobs, Widow of the Steve Jobs Eric Schidt of Google
  8. The usage of turbocharged engines is getting pretty rife in the last decade or so. The main reasons for this are exhaust emission regulations and also the positive highway mileage that turbo-ed engines offer. Lamborghini is one automaker that has always used high displacement, naturally aspirated engines in their cars and they have no intentions to change that. During an interview with Autocar, Lamborghini CEO Stephan Winkelman mentioned that he does not see Lamborghini using turbocharged engines in this decade but he also said that it could happen in the near future. In addition, he stated that the future can take its own path when fuel regulations are involved and any development along those lines must be consistent with the DNA of Lamborghini. Winkelman added that the next generation Gallardo is set to be launched in around two years time and it should not come with a turbocharged engine. However, there are rumoured reports of Audi working with Bentley on a turbocharged V8 engine to be used in the next Audi R8 and the engine might be used on higher performance cars within the Volkswagen Group. Although turbocharged engines are used heavily on most of Lamborghini

  10. [extract] This is what a Bentley would look like if it had 911 GT3RS stripes on it. It is usually the case when a tuning house takes a very expensive car and then makes it look very boy-racer. But sometimes car manufacturers amaze me and come up with their own boy racer cars. This time Bentley has come up with what I call
  11. In an effort to reduce emissions and improve fuel-economy ultra premium brand Bentley is looking to downsize with the introduction of an all-new V8 engine. As previously reported, Bentley is looking to sister brand Audi to co-develop a new direct-injection 4.0 liter V8 engine to be used in the Continental GT and future Audi performance models. Bentley says the new 4.0 liter direct-injection V8 will cut CO2 emission on the Continental GT model by a substantial 40 percent. Latest reports reveal the new V8 unit will be available in two versions. According to Autocar, the first version will have a single turbocharger producing 415 bhp (309 kW / 420 PS). The second version will be twin-turbocharged unit making 555 bhp (413 kW / 563 PS) - in line with Bentley's target output of at least 100 bhp per liter. The 4.0 liter V8 engine will debut in the Bentley Continental GT near the end 2011. Meanwhile, Autocar also reports that 2011 production for the Mulsanne is already reserved. The Arnage successor which starts at
  12. Must give it to the Bentley driver for having the "courage" to park it this way. Imagine you are in a hurry to find a lot in a packed car park & you come across this Bentley parked this way... http://singaporeseen.stomp.com.sg/stomp/sg...ies_2_lots.html He owns a one-million-dollar car and he parks right in the middle of two lots in a busy shopping mall's carpark. STOMPer HungryWomanAngryWoman is enraged at the behaviour of this Bentley driver. Said the STOMPer (Oct 27): "This Bentley owner thinks just because he owns a 1-million-dollar car, it gives him the right to park in the middle of two parking lots at VivoCity? "People these days are so inconsiderate..!!"
  13. [extract] The Black Bison series must be used by Wald International for all of its humongous, large, monstrous sized cars that it kits out. This means the large Mercedes Benz S-Class that I wrote about earlier and now it means a Bentley Continental Flying Spur that we shall now name the
  14. Bentley have revealed the latest generation of their best seller, the Continental GT recently. This new for 2011 model looks similar to the outgoing model. By looking similar, this means thaBentley has done a BMW Mini or a Suzuki Swift in terms of a redesign. Everything still looks like the outgoing model and it is only when you squint and look closely, you can see the differences. And you really need to squint. The Continental GT now has a smaller glasshouse compared to the outgoing model. The scuplting around the edges are bolder, the car looks more squat due to a higher beltline and that lower glass area, the rear three quarter windows slightly longer, new larger rear lights, a front lights that takes more from its more expensive sibling; the Mulsanne and a more prominent upright grill. This new Bentley now rides on 20inch wheels with two 21inch wheel options for those that want bigger sized rollers. On the mechanical upgrades, the Conti GT has new aluminium suspension components coupled with a wider front and rear track as well as a new steering system that would benefit ride and handling. The Conti GT also makes 567bhp and 699Nm over 552bhp and 659Nm running a revised 6.0 W12 engine. All that power now runs through a new automatic gearbox that has 50% speedier shifts (down to 200 milliseconds and does throttle blips for precise rev matching) with an all-wheel drive system that channels 60 percent of the power to the rear wheels instead of a standard 50:50 split as before. The car is also 65kg lighter than the outgoing model, making it hit 100km/h from nought in about 4.4seconds and a top speed of 318km/h. Fuel consumption is also slightly improved owing to a 15 percent improvement in powertrain efficiency. Bentley has also stated that there will be a newer more eco friendly, but not necessarily cheaper Continental GT which will use a high output 4.0liter V8. Details have not been stated as yet, as the car is due for launch at the end of 2011. There are not many changes to the interior though. It has 2 inches more legroom for the rear passengers due to the redesigned and slimmer front seats. The materials are better, the multi media interface (hey, it's basically a VW Group car, so the infotainment system could be called an MMI) is new and improved and the center console is a floating type

  16. Bentley will be producing two special edition Continental models for the Middle-East market only, namely the Continental Flying Spur Arabia and the Continental Flying Spur Speed Arabia. Bentley will limit the two special editions to a (combined) total of just 50 units. The Flying Spur Arabia gets the standard 6.0 liter twin turbo W12 engine with 552 bhp and 650 Nm of torque. The Flying spur Speed Arabia gets the same engine tuned upwards to 600 bhp and 750 Nm. The Flying Spur Arabia and Flying Spur Speed Arabia does the century sprint in 4.9 seconds and 4.8 seconds respectively. These two special editions feature special Arabia badges on their fenders, door sills and ash-tray lid. The non-Speed Flying Spur also gets a new unique 14-spoke wheel design while the higher performance model gets 20-inch, ten-spoke wheels. Other touches include ventilated seats that can cool or warm passengers, veneered picnic tables inside the cabin and a chrome fuel cap with the 'B' insignia of Bentley. Middle East now accounts for one-tenth of Bentley
  17. Bentley has released photos and details of two special edition Continental models that have been designed exclusively for the China market and will have their world premiere at the Beijing motorshow on the 23rd of April. First up is the 'Continental GT Design Series China', highlighted by its unique color and trim options. The pride and joy of each design series is the three-tone interior that blends a main leather hide color with insert colors at locations such as the coupe's seat belts, floor mats, seat piping and the hand-stitched steering wheel. This series of cars will be further distinguished by some subtle exterior and interior motifs such as an exterior wing badge, treadplate and name badge positioned on the centre console, all bearing the 'Design Series China' signature. The Continental GT special will be accompanied by the Continental Flying Spur Speed China that boasts unique styling features and a range of engineering upgrades developed specifically for the Chinese market. Under the skin, the suspension has been retuned for enhanced comfort while the exhaust system has been modified to produce a quieter note. If you're wondering why Bentley chose to develop these China-only models, the answer is simple - the Chinese market is now the company's third most important market globally in terms of sales, which have grown nearly ten folds to 421 cars in 2009.

  19. Bentley has released new details about the craftsmanship that goes into the Mulsanne luxury sedan. Boasting "classic signature features that have defined Bentleys from the 1920s to the present day," the Mulsanne interior is adorned with mirror-matched wood veneers (which take five weeks to make) in Walnut, Piano Black, Oak, Bird's Eye Maple, Vavona, Olive Ash or Sapelli Pommele. Should the distinctive
  20. When you think of luxury, you'd think Shangri-la or Ritz Carlton. In car terms, that would probably equate to Mercedes and BMW. But with Bentley, its on a whole new level. Its the St. Regis. I recently managed to get a chance to view these two bucket loads of luxury at their official launch in Singapore at the Shangri-la hotel and boy did they ooze of class and panache. The Mulsanne, which was produced from 1982 to 1992 featured a full sized luxury sedan which was supposed to offer the unique blend of speed and agility of a Sports coupe, with the comfort of a proper Bentley. The name itself is derived from Bentley's 5 victories at the 24 Hours of Le Mans between 1924 to 1930 - The 'Mulsanne Straight' is the stretch of the racecourse where the cars reach their top speed. So speed is essential in the new Mulsanne or the car wouldn't live up to its legacy. And I'm happy to say it doesn't disappoint. Though the car is almost 5.5m long, 2.2m wide and weighs the Moon, it would still go from 0-100km/h in 5.3s and reach a top speed of about 300km/h. All this speed and power is only possible with its 6.75l V8 twin turbo with something called cam phasing and variable displacement or whatever that is, (which makes it sound faster) that produces 505bhp @ 4200rpm. But here's the real party piece. You see, a 'normal' luxury saloon car, say a BMW 5 Series with 4 doors and a big boot, would produce around 300NM of torque. But in this, it produces 1020NM of torque at 1750rpm! I wouldn't be surprised to see a blown-out tire at the garage of its owner or two distinct holes in the ground the shape of semi-circles. That is just an immense amount of torque. And the interior is very spacious, comfortable and well equipped. Its just too bad I didn't get to sit in one that actually moved on the road because then I could start talking about how the suspension evens out the bumps or how the engine sounds. So on the whole. the new Mulsanne definitely looks and feels like what a proper Bentley should. But what if you are the type of person who only likes to have luxury and speed, but only share it with one other person? Worry no more because the Bentley Continental Supersports is the perfect car for you. It is the most powerful, most extreme Bentley coupe ever made and it even runs on both petrol and biofuel using FlexFuel technology. It has a 6.0l W12 twin turbo engine which produces 621bhp and with 800NM of torque and 0-100 km/h is dealt with in 3.9s in a car that weighs 2.2 tons and its maximum speed is 329km/h. Quick car! And if you were there to see its brake discs, they were the size of a Nissan Latio's steering wheel.. And the Supersport scores in the looks department as well. The pristine shade of White on this body looks absolutely perfect for this car and the huge 20 inch black alloy rims announces to the world that it means business. On to the interior. The Supersports is focused on being lighter than the Continental GT so the entire cabin is littered with carbon fibre trim. On the dash and everything. It is tastefully done with a matte finish and all the switches and buttons feels bespoke to this car. And though this is the most extreme Bently ever made, it still features equipment that you see in a luxury sedan like cruise control, an in-built phone and even a space in the back for your golf bag which is well protected by a carbon fibre beam which I presume is to stop it from rolling about. The seats are relatively hard but they offer great support and it feels like a glove to the body's contours. Both of these machines are wonderful. They bring the unthinkable to reality and the level of luxury is suited for royalty. However, the thing that left a niggling feeling behind is that a Rolls Royce still is the ultimate luxury saloon in my opinion. Somehow, they just feel more special, the name and just the look of their cars would bring a sense of unparalleled royalty. The Bentleys are great cars, but I just feel that they aren't as special.
  21. Bentley has released new details about the Mulsanne's 6.75-liter twin-turbo V8 engine. Taking nearly 30 hours to build, the engine features over 300 new (or significantly re-engineered) components to ensure it is more powerful and fuel efficient than its predecessor. In terms of performance, the V8 produces 505 bhp (377 kW / 512 PS) and 1020 Nm (752 lb-ft) of torque. This enables the Mulsanne to rocket from 0-60 mph in 5.1 seconds (0-100 km/h in 5.3 seconds), before hitting a top speed of 184 mph (296 km/h). While this is pretty impressive for a car with a 2585 kg (5700 lb) curb weight, Bentley paid special attention to being eco-friendly. Due in large part to two new control systems, cam phasing and variable displacement, the engine has a 15 percent improvement in emissions and fuel consumption. Despite this, the Muslanne has a combined fuel consumption rating of 16.7 mpg UK (16.9 liters/100km). Once the engines are completed, they are put on state-of-the-art balancing machines to rigorously test all the spinning components. Once they pass inspection, the engines are put through an 80-minute test cycle where engineers run the V8 from idle to maximum revs to simulate real-world driving conditions.
  22. If you have enough dough, you may wish to engage the all-new Bentley Continental Supersports Convertible for the fastest hair restyling job. This new convertible is billed as the fastest and most powerful drop-top that Bentley ever produced, as well as the quickest four-seat convertible in the world. It is not hard to understand why this is so when you have a twin-turbocharged W12 engine under its hood. This is the same unit found on the Continental Supersports Coupe. It produces 621 bhp at 6,000 rpm and 800Nm of torque at 2,000-4,500 rpm. Power is channeled to all four wheels through a strengthened ZF transmission with a 'Quickshift' system that is said to reduce shift times by 50% while also enabling double downshifts. Bentley says that the soft-top Supersports model accelerates from standstill to 100km/h in 4.2 seconds and reaches a top speed of 325km/h. Like its coupe counterpart, the Continental Supersports Convertible features revised suspension, steering and ESP settings, a 40/60 rear-biased torque split for the all-wheel drive system and carbon-ceramic brakes. The interior that has been upgraded with carbon fibre front sports seats, special materials and trim options. However, unlike the coupe, the convertible model keeps the rear seats. The Bentley Continental Supersports Convertible will make its debut at the Geneva Motorshow in March 2010.
