Mercedes-Benz has been accomplishing miraculous feats of incredible horsepower with its large displacement engines. However, those engines haven't been particularly fuel efficient, so M-B is in the process of developing several new mills to meet new CO2 and fuel economy standards in Europe and the U.S. Mercedes is reportedly adding a new, direct-injected, twin-turbo 4.7-liter V8 engine this fall with an impressive 435 horsepower and 516 pound-feet of torque. The German automaker claims a fuel economy improvement of 22 percent versus one of its last-generation engines outputting a similar amount of power. Those impressive gains come courtesy of the aforementioned direct injection, stop/start technology and more efficient components like the fuel and water pumps. The twin-boosted V8 will reportedly arrive this fall in the CL-Class and S-Class. Also up for an overhaul is Mercedes' 3.5-liter V6. The new mill will have an all-new 60 degree V block with new intake and exhaust. The sum of these changes is 306 horsepower and 273 lb-ft of twist, and a reported fuel economy savings of 24 percent in the not-for-U.S.-consumption S350. The new 3.5-liter will be an especially welcome addition to the Mercedes lineup, as the current 268 horsepower engine isn't exactly keeping up with similar displacement engines available from Lexus, Infiniti, Cadillac and Acura. Keep in mind that Mercedes isn't listing official EPA numbers when its touting its new engines' improved efficiency, and Inside Line points out that the EPA rating system doesn't really account for Stop/Start systems in its fuel economy averaging. Shortly after the next-generation Mercedes-Benz B-Class launches in 2011, it has been reported that the United States will receive its own version of this car. Now, a new report from Automotive News suggests that an AMG-tuned version of the diminutive B-Class could be in the works, as well, set to rival European hot hatches like the Audi S3 and Volkswagen Golf R. The tuned-up B-Class will be the cheapest AMG offering, in an attempt to attract younger enthusiasts to Mercedes-Benz showrooms. AN reports that the smallest AMG will likely be powered by the all-new 5.5-liter, twin-turbo V8 a specially tuned four-cylinder engine and, like all AMG models, will feature slightly revised body work, better brakes, a sportier suspension and revised interior trim. Expect the AMG B-Class to launch in Europe around early 2012. No official timing for the U.S.-version of the B-Class has been set, but 2012 seems like a safe bet for that, as well.

The Mercedes-Benz F800 Style concept car that'll debut at the Geneva Motor Show next month is highly-touted by Mercedes-benz's press release scribes for its green-car tech, but what's probably of greater interest to most of you is its styling, which is everyone's first peek at what the next-generation CLS-Class sedan is going to look like. To that end, get ready for a nose section whose grille apes that of the SLS AMG, plus enough flame-surfaced bodywork to make one envision Chris Bangle, sporting a set of Groucho glasses to mask his true identity, clandestinely moonlighting at Benz. The rear doors are sliders, because it's a concept, and you need to give the people a clear view into the swoopy, sci-fi passenger cabin. Props to Mercedes PR for gamely making it sound as if there's an actual practical application for those doors, though (see the attached press release). Mercedes-Benz also touts the concept's flexible powertrain platform. The realistic option is a plug-in hybrid system that's basically an offshoot of the V6 light-hybrid setup found in the S400 sedan. Mercedes says this new plug-in gas-electric system, which is good for over 400 combined horsepower, gives the car an EV-only driving range of 18 miles. The automaker has announced that a new plug-in system is headed to the next-gen S-Class, so don't dismiss the F800's hybrid setup as trendy green pandering. Save that cynicism for the concept's other powertrain option: a compact fuel cell/electric setup evolved from the one used in the current F-Cell cars. We have no doubt that the technology itself is genuinely impressive, and we're sure news of its development will be a hit with all the jet-setters at the next snowbound climate change conference. From a mass-production, real-person's-car standpoint, expect to see the fuel cell system in Benz showrooms right after Mercedes intros a 700-horsepower inline 3-cylinder that runs on unicorn milk. Alas, we digress. The F800 concept also introduces two new technologies that will doubtless appear in upcoming models. Distronic Plus Traffic Jam Assistant is an enhanced version of Mercedes' active cruise control system, which can now steer the car through curves as long as it's traveling under 25 mph. Neat. Also new is the Pre-Safe 360-degree system, which expands the existing Pre-Safe collision detection/mitigation system to the rear of the car. Now, if Pre-Safe senses that a rear-end impact is imminent, it'll apply the brakes in a bid to keep the car from getting into an additional chain-reaction accident involving other cars or pedestrians. We'll be in Geneva to see the sheet come off the Mercedes-Benz F800 Style in person, and will have plenty of firsthand observations and live photos then. Mercedes-Benz is completing the E-Class family with the introduction of a convertible model that will replace the outgoing CLK drop top. It will compete head on with the BMW 3-Series and Audi A5 cabriolets. Unique to the 2010 E-Class Convertible is a retractable wind spoiler located on top of the front windshield. Called an 'Aircap', the system works in conjunction with a rear deflector to help to direct wind over the passenger compartment. The convertible also gets an electrically operated fabric roof instead of a retractable hardtop. The entry level petrol lineup is the 184HP E200 CGI found in the latest E-Class Sedan. Other powerplants include the 204HP E250 CGI, the 292HP E350 CGI and the top-of-the line E 500 with a 388HP V8 engine. Cabriolet lovers in Singapore, get your cheque books ready!

It was a minor collision between a BMW and a Mercedes-Benz. But it led to car chase,screaming rage from the driver and the death of other after a stroke... The Mercedes driver, who believe to be around 20+, allegedly shouted yulgarities, and he insisted on being compensated even as the BMW driver, Mdm lee bee huat, 56, was being carried on the stretcher into an ambulance. She died from a brain haemorrhage 2 weeks later. The damage to the car? Just 1 broken wing mirror each. According to the Mdm lee 's family.. the Mercedes driver chased mdm lee 's car through Lentor estate, off Yio chu kang road, for at least half a Kilometre.... She finally reached her house on Lentor street and stopped, sounding her horn... Her son-in-law, Mr edwin Han, 36, sales manager, rushed outta the house and saw her seated in the car. with 1 young man standing close by... Said Mr han :" I opened her car door... and asked if she okay... but she could not really speak." Mr han say mdm lee appeared to be confused, frightened and unable to get out of the car herself... During this time, the Mercedes driver allegedly kept yelling that "SHE KNOCKED MY CAR!!" "i carried my mother-in-law out of the car, but the young man din stop yelling..." say Mr han. Mdm lee 's 2 daughters also came out to help their mother... while Mr han go check with the guy wat happened... "He kept shouting that my mother-in-law was drunk. i told him she doesn't drink... but he refuse to listen!! He had making such a din outside our house that the neighbours started to come out and BEO..." Mr Han say... Mr han looked at the man 's Mercedes, and saw only its right mirror was damaged and offered to pay full damage.... He then wanted to go back to his house and check on mdm lee... but the young man shouted at him repeatedly :" YOU DUN MOVE!!! CHIU STAND THER!!! " Mr han ignored him.. cos he worry abt mdm lee... as he walked back... the young guy started to YELL yulgarities non-stop..." ----- Quick summary due to many text... Young man yelled non-stop.. from the time Mdm lee carried into the house.. until ambulance come... and she pushed to the ambulance.. and even After ambulance drove off.. still din stop..... Mr han make a police report... police say they will look into it....

Just at around 2210hrs at Ang Mo Kio Central open air carpark, near the MSCP beside POSB, saw this P-plate driver driving this dark blue E200 mid 90s make SBP5146(Why) while doing a reverse parking, reverse right into a blue colour Van parking beside him. The best thing is the driver park beside the van properly later on and walk away laughing with his friend as if nothing big deal happen...... What do you guys think??
