  1. Looks like ST Engineering has taken this mantra and export it to the good US of A. http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontline/flying-cheaper/

  3. Hi, seeing how traffic is already bad and probably not going to get much better, especially traffic towards the business centers like CBD, etc, let's brainstorm on how to improve traffic situation in Singapore. My own opinion, which may not be a good idea but open for discussion, is that Singapore is so bloody small, so why must we designate like residential area (housing+malls) and business areas (CBD, Tampines, Business Parks, etc)? Why can't they just treat the whole of Singapore as a metopolis and allow big tall office buildings to be errected everywhere, maybe with the criteria that must be close to MRT stations. So eg, office buildings near every station that currently no office building nearby, just sell one plot of land near each station for erecting a couple of office buildings, instead of reserve everything for flats/condo/malls/shops. I do see offices at Toa Payoh, Bishan, Tampines, but I feel is not enough. Wouldn't this disperse out the businesses and traffic? And also make more people switch to use public transport or even walk to work? Of cos, I am not a qualified city planner, only played SimCity when young, so i won't know the issues and obstacles that comes with my idea, maybe by spreading will make more difficult for businesses to operate or other cons or devalue the CBD properties badly or inflat HDB prices etc?
  4. Was on the road most of yesterday and couldnt help but notice a trend...gone are the dusty old looking vehicles from Malaysia, now they are replaced by MY registered Porsche Caymans, nice shiny civics, saw one black Mark X, lots of Camrys...new and expensive cars..Then I see 6-7 years old SG sunnys, altis and lots of old SG cars... A sign of the times? JB is benefitting from Singapore's growth and also their own Iskandar project? Anybody noticing this trend? If so we better buck up..or else...

  10. Hi everyone! I have trying to improve my driving style to improve FC. Thus asking you guys for some tips on improving my FC. What RPM do you all usually change your gear at? Do you prefer to step lighter on the accelerator at a lower gear or step harder on a higher gear (i.e. something like dragging engine at low RPM vs light acceleration at high RPM). Do you quickly accelerate to highest gear and then cruise or slowly accelerate and change gear? Thanks for the help!
  11. Hi all, I believe we have all heard that the thinner the engine oil, the easier it is to flow to various parts of the engine thereby giving better protection during start up? But, I realised that lube oil pumps are basically gear pump, they are positive displacement pumps, where capacity is directly proportional to the rotation speed. The capacity of gear pumps should not be affected by the viscosity of engine oil under our local climate, whether 0w20 or 20w50 the flow rate from a positive displacement pump should be almost the same, right? Maybe cold countries where temperature are freezing and the pour point of oil are affected, then perhaps the engine oil viscosity would affect the capacity of gear pumps. The oil if get too thick due to cold weather then the relieve valve of the pump will blow (by-pass back to suction?) due to higher pumping pressure, so discharge volume will reduce. If that is the case, then for our local environment whether using thinner or thicker oil the protection should be same at start-up? Perhaps the advantage of thinner oil is only for better fuel efficiency only? What do you think?
  12. KUALA LUMPUR (Oct 18, 2010): Former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad said today if democracy does not work for the betterment of a country, an authoritarian system might be the answer. "Democracy has failed in many countries. They have failed to deliver what they have promised. In the system of election for example, if you are to insist on 100% support to form a government, you will never have a government
  13. I have tested and it confirm works. I side gap a set of copper autolite plugs (they are just normal copper plugs), regap them to 0.03 inches and add 1ml of Castrol 2T oil per 1L of petrol (I believe other brands work as well). Previously using Denso Iridium plugs and no 2T, I get a very consistent 7.5KM/L for my car. Tried those expensive Nology plugs, slightly better to 7.8KM/L. Now with 2T oil and side gapping of copper plugs, I get 8.1KM/L, its a big increase over my iridium plugs considering iridium is supposed to give you better FC. However, do take note that side gapping also requires a higher voltage to fire the spark. My MSD coil misfires at around 3-4K RPM. I modded my Mallory coil to reduce the no. of wounds on the primary coil (to increase secondary:primary ratio) hence producing a slightly higher voltage. It works and misfiring issue is solved.
  14. any bro got comments as if its the right time to make the move?

  16. Can any bro explain why the exchange rate for RM$ here is better than in JB? I saw the exchange rate for RM$ at Eastpoint money changer this morn at $231.50 but when I went to JB City Square this afternn, it was $230. Strange rite, all along I thought the rate in Msia is higher. Is it due to the fact that there are too much RM$ in sg becos many Msian gambler brought them over to sg casino.
  17. Hi all, If given a choice would you send your child to a neighbourhood co-ed school or a boys school such as St. Garbriel's primary? Due to where I live now, all available schools are >1Km and <2Km. So my chances of enrolling the child to a choice school is not rosy . Any comments and advice from the parents and old boys of the school? Thank you very much. Regards,

  21. Heard this phrase in yesterday's news on national TV and my son was asking me to explain what it meant. Scratch my head bald and really, I have no idea at all. Engrand so powderful that I'm speechless, so I told my son "Phua Chu Kang speaks that way and you don't follow okay?" He shrug his shoulders and nodded his head. OMG! Fancy a MP talking like that on national TV. Any brudder heard it? Incidentally, it was reported in today's ST as "Good, Better, Best"
