  2. It seems like the more popular brands are Blackvue or Iroad cameras. I am given the Blaupunkt BP-9.0A with the following specs Resolution : Front 2MP FHD 1080 30fps, Rear : 2MP FHD 1080 30fps Wide viewing angle: Front - 140, Rear - 120° Screen display: Front, Rear, PIP 3.5” touchscreen LCD display Preview, download, playback Videos & Settings Configuration via Smartphone Wireless Control App Automatic memory card format (Format-free Technology) Fixed ‘High Temperature’ & Variable ‘Low Car Battery Voltage’ Cut-off 24-hour automatic park recording Motion detection, automatic display shutdown, G-sensor, loop recording Support up to 128GB Micro SD, Class 10 & above Micro SD Seems pretty legit and decent and i suppose i can save moolah and use it? I just need to get an additional battery pack (Was quoted Cellink) to support its 24hr motion sensor activation to record.
  3. Hi there, I am in the processing of comparing different dashcams. There are lot of opposing opinions so I thought I would do some further research. My criteria was to future proof so that it at least lasts a couple of years BUT not get the latest which might be overkill/too expensive. Like I don't think it's necessary to have 4K. I think getting from the US also might be an option (even despite not having local warranty). I prioritize safety and so an ACTUALLY useful driver assistance system would be great! The ones in my comparison set are: iRoad x9 $460 Front and rear at full HD 1080P at 30fps, 90 degrees rear I think, 150 degrees front, Driving Assistance Features / Road Safety Warning System, prevents battery discharged, Wi-Fi Does not overheat too much. Reviews are quite mixed BlackVue DR750S-2CH $568, even lower in some places Front camera with Full HD (1920 x1080 @60FPS), Rear camera with Full HD (1920 x 1080 @30FPS), 139º wide view angle, WiFi built-in, Cloud service compatible, Endures higher operation temperature than earlier models. Reviews are quite mixed, but skewed a bit negative. Although this US site shows very good reviews. Thinkware Q800PRO 2K QHD Cloud Dash Cam $699 2K QHD Front + Full HD Rear, 140°. Advanced Driver Assistance Systems that includes Lane Departure Warnings, Front Collision Warnings and more. Reviews are quite mixed, but skewed a bit negative. Although many review sites say it is feature packed. This US site compared a lot of the dashcams: https://www.blackboxmycar.com/pages/best-dash-cams#budget-friendly-4k Clearly, the iRoad x9 has similar features like driver warning systems without overheating and is cheapest but reviews for ALL are mixed. What have your personal experiences been after using it for a while? Which would you go with?
  4. Dear All, Does anyone has lobang to install blackvue (2Ch) camera for front and rear? Thanks
  5. Anyone has any model to recommend ? - HD recording - Clear recording at night or dim lighting - Can record people scratching, of course when car is parked with engine off. Blackvue or Thinkware better??? Or any better brand? Which model?
  6. So I been having intermittent issues with my dash cam over the last year, it finally seemed that the problem was the memory card. Now looking further into it, the issue at hand is that most memory cards aren't suitable for the 24/7 continous writing in surveillance/CCTV mode enabled dash cams. A typical 32GB card will hold maybe 2, maybe 4 to 5, hours worth of content which means that it is probably eating through its entire capacity's worth perhaps 2 or 3 times a day. Most common memory cards are built on a cheaper variety of memory chips called TLC NAND, which have relatively short write endurance of around 3,000~5,000 cycles, which apparently translates to about 150~300 total overwrites. Examples include be SanDisk Ultra cards... Then there's MLC and SLC NAND, which without going into working detail, get more endurance. Doing some simple math, 150 total overwrites, assuming the card does it twice a day, a cheap memory card could eat through its entire rated write endurance in less than a year! My older dashcam-used memory cards, even with formatting, cuck up the camera every few seconds now. Anyway, I notice now there are High Endurance for video surveillance memory cards by SanDisk, Lexar and Transcend, advertised to handle at least 2 years of continuous recording. I'm trying out the SanDisk card, will be interesting to see if it's still problem free after warranty is over. Anyone else tried those, or other brands of cards? I'd also like to get some more data from other users about how long their memory cards are lasting in cams.
  7. I installed my 2-channel in October last year. The unit either shut itself off during very hot weather like these days OR worst render my car battery flat if you ON the unit at the Power Magic. Able to us 64 GB but may go haywire at times! Installer suggest JUST 32 GB! That is, it is just good when driving AND NO GOOD for parking mode (just 3-4 hours before it flattened your car battery!!) Yes! I went back to the installer who is now suggesting a replacement of power magic for another ADDITIONAL $388 (beautiful number isn't it??) battery pack (batteries similar to handphone) just to power Blackvue. Yes! Both power magic and Blackvue has a "one year warranty" and the installer claimed that they no more install power magic AND most "small" car owner come back to install their $388 battery pack! Isn't this falling under the Lemon Law? So, people, don't simply think that a Made-in-Korea product is good judging by its video output. Careful of who your installer are!
  8. Hi All, Need to pull a quick one. SE offering me two options... which one should I go for? thanks!
  9. Like many I have issues with the atrocious footages of my 5-month old BV DR400G-HD II. The footages were crystal clear initially but now deteriorated untill There were another problem which was the out-of-sync date and time on the unit but i managed to solve it with the help of our resident cam guru Adrian (read post http://www.mycarforum.com/index.php?s=&...t&p=4771472 onwards) The poor video image was initially thought to be the defective lens and there was a suggestion to find a replacement lens machiam what I did for my faulty internal battery. Curious I dismantled the unit for the 1,000th-time and this time I unscrewed the two screws securing the lens to the unit and found out the real cause of the poor image: the internal lens surface was simply covered with dust!!! So I just took a medical alcohol swap to clean all 3 surfaces: both the external/internal lens plus the tiny rectangular film-like surface on the unit (is this the CMOS thingy?) like shown below: Once done I assembled the entire unit and tested it out to see if I was right.

My concern is will the recorder able to record after i off the engine and left?? So that I can look back the video if my car kena bang when I am not around. Does it necessary to have the GPS function and the power magic if I were to connect to my car battery??
  13. Hi guys, I am looking at purchasing a dashcam in the upcoming IT show and I hope the gurus around here can enlighten me and point me in the right direction. The three models I am looking at are the Thinkware X500, Marbella QB6 and Blackvue DR650GW-2CH. I heard thinkware is super reliable. It has all the bells and whistles but the price is a bummer. The specs of the QB6 looks good and the videos look decent and can get the job done. Best thing is the price for 2CH full HD. However i would like to know its reliability, maybe based on past models because this is a new model. The Blackvue DR650 has the best form factor. However, I read online that the back camera sometimes turns totally purple. Blackvue also has quite a bad problem with heat. The most overheating problems come from Blackvue units. Having said all these, I am still a newbie at dashcams and hope you guys can help me out. Which should i pick and why? Also may I know approx how long do these cams last? Thanks a ton in advance
  14. Went to the IT Show yesterday, intending to buy a 32gb micro-SD card for my Blackvue. Was told it is advisable to get a Class 6 card. But the price diff between Class 4 and Class 6 is huge. 32gb class 4 = $39 32gb class 6 = $79 The price diff is ridiculous. Didn't want to be a sucker. I put off the purchase. Did some research. Found out that Class 4 is good enough for HD recording. www.sdcard.org/developers/overview/speed_class/ I did an experiment. Took out the 4gb Class 4 micro-SD card from my Blackberry. Format it to install Blackvue firmware. Did a few minutes of normal recording. The video quality was good. No jerky recording. Everything looked good.

  19. Installed the in Car Cam for some time now, but never uploaded or tried to use any feature in it, so nows my chance … I was exiting out of Holland Village Public Car Park … Exit has 2 lanes, inner & outer … I was in the outer lane, the Camry was in the inner lane ... As I turned out, he cut into my lane & so I high beamed him twice ... He claims I turned into his lane & I was a "Typical Singaporean" … So, let the video do the talking … & you be the judge … Normally, I don't bother with these people, but this bugger is a bit too much & I'm no "Push Over" … http://youtu.be/gNwcRvaGnps
  20. This new version is good, finally a iphone friendly apps that works with new blackvue 500 via WIFI. But the sad part is to all of us who have bought the 380 or the 400-HD is a bit sian. If this function have been out on these previous 2 model, sure will be more easy for us to access our video. The new 500-HD seems like can update the blackvue via WIFI without the trouble to bring our micro SD card to PC, and back to our blackvue. check the video below for more easy unstanding point.
