  1. I was thinking, currently the 3rd brake light only gives a 'on' and 'off' indication, but does not reflect the intensity of braking force. Therefore, while traveling on the expressway we do not know the car in front when the brake is it a light tap to slow down or hard braking. Possible improvement I'm thinking was a 3rd brake light which would reflect whether the brake is a light tap or emergency brake, by the length of the lighted 3rd brake light. IF it is a light tap to slow down, 1 foot length of 3rd brake light showing. If moderate braking, 2 feet length of 3rd brake light showing. IF its a emergency brake, full 3 feet length of 3rd brake light would show. If there is such a 3rd brake light I believe the accident would reduce, because people would not hard brake unintentionally because he can see whether the car in front is a light tap or hard brake. Does such a 3rd brake light exist?
  2. Got a 2009 Hyundai Avante. 3rd brake light isn't working (other two are ok). Changed the bulb but it still won't light up. What could be the problem? Checking the fuses later although I think there isn't a separate one for the 3rd brake light. TIA.
  3. Hi Folks, I'm driving a 2008 avante. Just now while driving home after dinner, when i turn on the light switch, the rear lights are lit as usual However, i noticed that both main brake lights and the 3rd brake light do not light up when i depress the brake pedal. Is it a fuse issue or something else?
  4. Driving Nissan latio, replaced original brake pad @ 70k , now is 120k, "ji.." sound was heard when brake, went to work shop, was told the front brake pad still can last at least 6 month, front brake disc and rear brake shoe also normal. as the brake pad was alreday taken out, decideed to replace with original brake pad, but after server days, the sound happened again when brake, not loud, really confused what could be the problem? anyone got similar experience?
  5. My car is nearly 3 yrs 7 mths and have covered 115k. My car is serviced by agent from day 1 and they never said I need to change brake pads. Is there a time limit to change? My last servicing was early Jan. They tested my battery and the result was bad (something like 64%???) and was told to change. Till date I have not changed and nothing happened though there is sign that starting was not that strong as before. How long more can I tong?
  6. Just came back from servcing, ws say my MIt colt left front brake is wearing twice as quick as the right. Any idea what wrongs The ws say is clipper and skimming the rotor as to fix the issue. Any experince Thanks for reading.

  8. Hi, my neighbour's 6 pot brake calipers having slight brake fluid leak from the piston area. Most likely due to damage rubber O ring seal within. Anybody got contact or know of any wkshop that can repair brake caliper or hardware store that sell various/custom size rubber O ring. Thank you in advance. Regards,
  9. I am driving a Toyota Vios 2005 and is currently on stock brake pad. Well, I was driving along an empty road when suddenly a mother holding daughter's hand jaywalk while looking at the LEFT when traffic is from the right. My E-Brake comes with very loud growling noise (not it's not ABS). Diagnosed to be hardened brake pad.First time I heard of this situation but given the factor of my last minute late and hard braking bad habit,30,000KM clocked with very little signs of wear, I guess it's the material inferiority. Thus, I am thinking of changing it and since I am doing so, might as well just buy a better ones.I am perfectly fine with dirty rims. Have ever used Ferodo but I find it too strong.I am kind of confidence with Bosch product but I have no idea where to get.Anyone have suggestion? I don't need very good but something better than OEM.
  10. So on my E60 523i, I changed new brake pads recently but left the old rotors on, as they still had lots of life left. The problem was the squeal when driving slowly (not braking). I read up on this phenomenon and it appeared that the new pads were not sitting on the backing very well, because of dirt and dust over the years. And while this does not cause friction against the rotors, it is the vibration of the brake pads and the backing that causes harmonics and hence, these squeals. One of the methods recommended was to drive till 80 or 100 kmh and then brake violently till stop. Do it 5 times (or so they said) and the squeal will be gone cuz the new pads will be seated properly then. I tried it and it worked! No more squeal. There are other methods which require taking out the pads again, cleaning the back of the pads and the backing, and then greasing the back of the pads and putting duct tape on them etc but they were a waste of time I thought. This was the easiest and fastest way, but do it somewhere safe.
  11. I find that my car brake is not very sensitive. My car workshop advise me to change the brake pad and also to skim the rotors. I was told that the time to change the brake pad will be when the brake give out a hissing sound when you pressed on the brake. This is because there is a inbuilt strip within the brake pad which will make a hissing sound when it had been worn down to a certain thickness. Otherwise, it is not necessary to change. Is this true? Some people also claimed that we should never skim the rotors. May i know the reason why? My workshop claim that by skimming the rotors, it make the rotors more even, resulting in better grip when the brake pad pressed on the rotors. Is this true?
  12. Any bro knows where to get a good brake kit for this car ? :)
  13. As per topic.. Anyone using this type of brake pads for their ride?
  14. In 2009, Hyundai and KIA had to recall 700,000 units of their models due to defective brake switches. Unfortunately, not learning from their experiences, these South Korean automakers repeat their mistake and this time, it's even worse. They now have to recall a total of 1.6 million units of cars they have produced due to the exact same problem. The brake switch defect may prevent the brake lamps from illuminating even when the brake pedal is actually stepped on. Of course, this is a big deal as it may trigger rear-end collisions. In addition to that, the defect may fail to cancel the cruise control feature while braking, prevent the push-button starter from functioning, and may even block the gear shift in the neutral position. Both KIA and Hyundai will start contacting dealers and customers of the affected models in June 2013 and will provide necessary replacements free of charge. The list of the affected models is as follows: - 2007 KIA Sedona - 2007-2009 Hyundai Tucson - 2008-2009 Hyundai Veracruz - 2007-2010 KIA Rondo - 2007-2010 KIA Sportage - 2007-2010 Hyundai Elantra - 2007-2011 KIA Sorento - 2007-2011 Hyundai Santa Fe - 2010-2011 KIA Soul - 2010-2011 Hyundai Genesis Coupe - 2011 Hyundai Sonata - 2011 KIA Optima

  16. WTF! Seems like the driver is anticipating the accident. So calm when he alight from the car. Maybe saw the camera, quickly run for his life ============================================================= http://singaporeseen.stomp.com.sg/stomp/sg...#commentSection Driver causes crash by swerving into STOMPer's lane and jamming on brakes A Honda driver cut into STOMPer Sam's lane along Cross Street and then jammed on his brakes, causing the STOMPer to hit his car. The incident happened at about 9am yesterday (March 12). The driver then exited his vehicle, took photos of the accident and the STOMPer's car, and simply drove off. Said the STOMPer: "The clip that I have attached is the accident between me and the other party. "The timing from the clip is not accurate. It should be on March 12, at 9am. "I was driving along Cross Street when suddenly, a Honda Civil Type R dashed into my lane and jammed his brakes, causing me to jam my brakes as well. "I didn't manage to stop in time so I banged into the car. "The best part is he came out from his car, took photographs of the accident, and then drive off just like that, without saying a word. "Just wanted to warn everyone to be aware if you see this car, as his driving is very dangerous and endangers other road users. "I have since made a police report."

  18. Hi, I'm driving a Nissan Sunny Manual. Recently i start feeling my clutch, brake and pedal vibrating when i'm driving. The faster i go, the vibrating gets stronger. The vibration feels like the engine is rubbing against the pedals. I suspect could be the engine mounting, but i don't feel must vibratin on my steering wheels yet. What could be the problem ? Thanks.
  19. Hi i am now on D1 Specs BBK and its time to change brake pads and bleed system I am driving a Lancer EX 2.0 GT. I want to ask if there is any recommendation for a place that do proper brake flushing and VACUUM brake bleeding, the leg method used by many workshop proven to be not very effective as after a few months air entered the brake system again and need to bleed again... I also want to know if any one of you is on the d1 spec caliper and know that is it possible to use better brake pad than the d1 spec one, looking at a better brake pad also but not sure will it fit into my caliper. If inconvenient to post recommended place to do brake flush and brake bleed please pm me as the one thread i have found here is dated 2011 thus dont think accurate anymore. Thanks in advance

  23. Hi All, I went to a workshop wanting to replace my worn-out front brake pads and at same time asked for renew all new brake fluid since already 3 yrs old, this is what the technician said "Change the brake pads enough but actually brake fluid not need to change. Can last 5-6 yrs.Besides yr Honda car (mine is a Stream) brake system always have problems after renew, caused brakes to jam".....How true is this? I didn't believed him (even the workshop wasn't busy so should be OK to change brake fluid), so can someone kindly recommend a good workshop near Queenstown area. Cheers!/ Str2
  24. How does it looks like? Heard people customise/fabricate it to fit non standard brake calipers onto their vehicle. Especially when there isn't any kit for their vehicle model. Maybe lack of knowledge, it should dangerous and unsafe to me, unless it is just a very simple job. Can someone enlighten me? or share your experience?
