  1. Bridgestone is showing signs of performing a dramatic U-turn and staying in formula one beyond 2010. Currently, the Japanese supplier is due to depart at the end of the season, as potential replacements including Michelin, Pirelli, Avon, Kumho and possibly others clamour at the paddock turnstiles. But the teams are trying to persuade Bridgestone to stay, and have written a letter to Bridgestone Europe that will be passed on to CEO Shoshi Arakawa. "The request is an honour," said the marque's F1 boss Hiroshi Yasukawa. Before departing Barcelona, he indicated in a statement that F1 is still important to Bridgestone. "We hosted guests from the USA and Brazil as well as many from our European markets which has illustrated the importance of formula one as a business tool," said Yasukawa. "Our sales companies continue to support our formula one activities, showing the significance of this to our business. "We are proud to have the support of all of the teams in this fantastic sport," he added. FOTA chairman Martin Whitmarsh said the teams are hoping the issue of 2011 tyre supply is settled in Monaco this weekend, but Stefano Domenicali fears it might take another week. "There are four proposals that appear to be out there and maybe there's another couple as well," Whitmarsh confirmed to Reuters. And with Michelin wanting tyre competitors and the smaller teams wanting cheaper options, the Briton admitted that the concept of multiple brands in F1 next year is not out of the question. But he insisted: "If you use multiple suppliers, it has got to be controlled in terms of testing and development." Source: GMM
  2. Any bros here know where to get the above mentioned tires and what is the price like? Looking to get 215/45/17 ones. Anyone using these? Maybe can give some comments. TIA!
  3. Anyone use this tyre before? Any reviews or comments?
  4. Bridgestone just launched their new flagship touring tyre, the Turanza GR-90, in Bangkok. The GR-90 is the successor to the critically acclaimed GR-80. Touring tyres are essentially comfort biased. The GR-90 has Intelligently designed rounded corners, combined with ideal construction rigidity to provide superior handling over a wide range of roads. The tread design features rows of low and high-angle winding grooves and flexible construction to deliver outstanding traveling dynamics and better water dispersion. This leads to a higher level of safety and comfort. The GR-90 proved to be incredibly silent on rough road conditions as compared to the GR-80 at the media launch. My Civic 2.0 used to run on a set of GR-80 some 3.5 years ago. The tyres are decent with acceptable grip and good comfort level. My only complaint about the GR-80 is the soft sidewall, making the front tyres appear under inflated even though I pumped up to 250 kPa. I hope that the GR-90 will come with a stiffer sidewall.
  5. Hi bros, does anybody know roughly how much will I be able to get if i trade in my new 17" avante rims with bridgestone my-01 tyres? The road noise in the wet when i drove today was horrendous..drown out my radio..so maybe thinking of changing.. Any recommendations? Gam sia many many in advance!
  6. I was told to try this new tyres and I did change it all 4 of them it is pretty expensive as it cost about $200+ each tyre it is the most quiet tyre I have ever had, you can only hear the wind noise from your side mirror and hardly anything from the tyres it is worth it, I highly recommend it because you have to live with it for the next 30,000Km for the next earliest change or earlier if you are well enough BUT there is a small problem visually the tyre shop ask me to pump to 34 psi and I did and still the tyre on the side looks a bit flat not use to this kind of look but the shop said it is OK I am not sure any expert or season driver here to help
  7. Hi, anyone know the current market price for 195/65/15? KM quoted me $135, kena ? tks

  10. I always get comments that Bridgestone Turanza ER-300 is an OEM tyres. But somehow nobody is able to tell me which model uses it. Honda Civic is using ER-30 as stock tyres but ER-30 not the same ER-300. In fact ER-300 is better than ER-30. So does any bros and sis here has any info about ER-300 as stock tyres?
  11. Any one can help me? I want to change my tyre. ( 2Y9M ) Currently using NCT5 175/65/R14. My friend told me to change (185/60/R14) is it ok? (stock tyre 175/65/R14 ) 1)For Bridgestone Turanza AR10 & GR80 which one better? 2)For tyre = Nitrogen gas better than normal gas? Which shop provided the service? ( North side ) Thank
  12. Hi Bros, Is anyone using this tire ( Bridgestone Turanza ER300) now? ANy good comments? I was shopping for a new set of tires to replace my current Michelin Vivacy. 13. Is Regno ER30 = Turanza ER30? Regno ER30 for OEM? Turanza ER30 for commerical? If the above is true, can those using Regno/Turanza ER30 give some comments on the tyre? I understand Civic is using Turanza ER30. Any other models?

  16. After read some of the thread here, I have shorten down to 2 selection, either GR80 or V8... Any bro have more comparison btw these 2? In term of comfy, quiet and good grip? Well, comfy and good grip might not goes hand in hand but decent grip will do as I travel much on NSH. Also should I keep to 185/65/R15 or should I take a broader width of 195/60/R15? what's the diff besides increase FC and increase sluggishness? Thanks all
  17. Hi, has anyone use Bridgestone GR80 tyres? Read good reports from magazine & keen to try them out. Was quoted $100/pc for 195 60 R15.
  18. Hi, I am considering falken RT 615 and BS RE070 for a Golf GTI on 18". My emphasis is on good dry grip, passable performance in the wet and threadware not a concern. I do not intend to track. But the tires should not be howling too much. Bros out there, any comments on these two tires? Other tires that I have used (and therefore will not try again) and in order of my liking are as follow: RE01R, AD07, PS2 and RS2. Too bad RE01R does not have 18" in SG market. Thanks.
  19. Just bought them this evening, so far the noise level is same same to my previous stock tyre Bridgestone ER030 which had covered 50000km.
  20. http://www.xxxxxxx.com/articles/article.p...pageid=1&view=1 For those of you intending to buy the RE001, I can say that you won't be disappointed, a great improvement over the S-03 and GIII, but still very different.
  21. Hi all... Went for my 3rd PG session on my current set of tires, the abovementioned. Size 195/50R15. Some pix after my 2nd session These tires were at least 85% new before the tracking session, as they had been used as rear tires for abt 10-15k kms before I rotated them to the front. Of course, they speak volumes abt my driving prowess (loads of understeer and the worst possible lines) Immediately after tt session, I had them rotated left to right and sent back to "serve" as rear tires. 3rd session, decided to ask the track office manager/boss to "teach" me the best lines and to give me some tips on improving my driving, and he was more than happy to oblige.. Did abt 6 or 7 laps, of which I had 3 laps timed by my gf. No improvement in timing (in fact, same as prev trip), but considering that I was focusing more on taking correct lines rather than speed, I guess that meant some improvement. I also wasn't feeling too gung-ho considering it was just my gf and I (yes one car only..) On the very last lap after my 2 timed laps, I decided to switch on aircon and cruise back to the pits. At the 4th or 5th corner, kena oversteer (suspect it was cos i lifted off the throttle too much. when cruising round i don't chiong but i don't brake much either) and didn't correct it properly.. Leading to a SPIN. Partial spin at least.. While fighting the spin (turning in the direction of the skid basically), fishtail left right left abt 70 degrees abt 4 or 5 times. then finally slowed down enough to regain full control . While driving back to the pits, realised that the car felt a bit lembeh.. Steering pulling a bit to the left. HOPED and PRAYED that it was a flat tire (otherwise it wud be much much worse, maybe alignment off, steering bengkok.. really dunno what else is possible!) changing the flat The space-saving spare tire up front.. Didn't want to go through extra trouble to fit it as a rear tire although some people recommend that. After that, we headed to a nearby tire shop recommended by the track office boss.. These were the findings View from the inside View from the outside Didn't want to change my tires there as I felt that the prices weren't competitive. As you can see, the bead (what keeps the air in, and what keeps the tire on the rim. If this description is wrong, please correct me ) had been damaged. I was hoping the bead merely "popped" out and that the tire could be reinstalled and used. Labor charge for the trouble and diagnosis, RM6. Abandoned the traitorous tire and hobbled around Johor on my space saver. Horlanded for a few hours trying to navigate my way from PG to JB (on the way also Horlan) Even ended up on the NSH where I had to crawl at below 80km/h on the road shoulder.. Maybe the next upgrade for my ride shd be a GPS Anyway, I bought a pair of Hankook HR2 (equivalent to V8RS, for 16" and above, it's called V8RS, for 15", it's called HR2) and got them installed on the rear, while my shredded tires which u see in the 1st two pix were sent to the front. I brought home the single G3 to keep as spare. Gonna bring it for future track sessions! Anyone seen such bead damage before? My tires are properly inflated (220kpa before I left SG for PG) and I am running fairly new BC coils with camber at -1.1. Checked alignment abt a week or so before track session.
  22. Hi Guys, anyone can do a comparison for the above 3 tyres? Pros and Cons for each tyre? Personal Experience for each tyre? The deulers are stock on my car and thinking about changing it to the ContiCrossContact or the RH06. Advisable? Size: 255/55/R18
  23. Which of the above tyres provide good grip and do not compromise on comfort? Anyone who has the experience with the above tyres do share your reviews and guess it will benefits those who want to get any of the tyres above, thanks.
  24. Kumho ECSTA KU31 vs Falken FK452 vs Bridgestone RE001 Which one cheapest and which one best in overall performance?
