  4. July 10, 2008 Probe into M'sian budget hotels filming couples in sex acts MALAYSIAN police will investigate claims that budget hotels in Klang are being used to film couples having sex and selling the footage to pornographic VCD and DVD sellers. Klang Asst Commissioner Mohamad Mat Yusop said police will follow up on a report in a Malay daily that rooms at these hotels are fitted with hidden cameras placed in the television set and air-condition unit to capture couple in the sex act. 'The report in the Malay daily is the first that we have heard of such incidents taking place and since it is illegal to have such cameras in hotel rooms we will definitely carry out investigation soon,' he said. He said the making and selling of pornographic VCDs and DVDs was another offence and the police would put a stop to it if the claims were true. The DVDs and VCDs were sold for between RM10 (S$4.19) and RM18 each and featured mostly teenagers and students from institutions of higher learning. The Malay newspaper report said that a 23 volume set of DVDs of the sex romp could fetch RM3,000, besides the royalties for each copy sold. -- The Star/ANN. http://www.straitstimes.com/Latest%2BNews/...ory_256433.html

  6. U still dare to take budget airlines like Tiger airways, Jetstar and air asia after reading this crash ? At least 66 dead in Thai air crash: official Posted: 16 September 2007 2005 hrs Photos 1 of 1 The wreckage of a One-Two-Go passenger plane sits on the site of the Phuket airport after it crashed Related News BANGKOK: At least 66 people including foreigners were killed Sunday when a Thai airliner crashed on the southern resort island of Phuket, the director of the airport there told AFP. "The confirmed dead is 66 now. Forty-two survived and were hospitalised. The rest are still missing," Pornchai Eua-aree said. "There are absolutely foreigners among the dead because almost 70 per cent of passengers in this flight were foreigners," he added. Hospitals in Phuket have confirmed foreigners were on the plane and among the injured. "We still don't know the cause of the accident." Pornchai Eua-aree told AFP that officials expected the death toll to rise. "We expect more bodies inside the wreckage since a large number of passengers are missing," he said. Aviation officials have said that the MD-82, operated by low-cost carrier One-Two-Go, burst into flames and broke in two when it slid off the runway upon landing, crashing into trees. - AFP/ac
  7. Hey bros i'm living in the 6th floor (HDB). Clear view of the open carpark. Just wondering what options are there to "equip" myself to catch the errant car scratcher who often scratched new cars indiscriminately. i'm not looking for trouble or quarrel. i just hope to give him/her a warning should i catch him red handed. my nephew will be on school holidays and has volunteered to help me set up and monitor. thanks bros!
  8. I am starting this thread due to the recent "explosion" of polls on extra-maritial affairs and stuff like that. So in your opinion, which is the most value for money and discreet (with accessible or free parking) budget hotel? Feel free to share.
  9. Plse share yr annual budget for car ownership. Can indicate the cost of your car, e.g 50k Monthly instalment Season parking Parking Petrol ERP Grooming Quarterly maintenance Insurance Road tax Mod TIA for yr contributions. Trying to see my figures are realistic or not.
  10. Hi Bros, Been doing some research and I have come up with a list of tyres that are supposedly good, have relatively low road noise and still cheap relative to the bigger names like Yoko and Bridgestone. I have been asking around on prices and these range around the 130 to 150 level. 1)Kumho SPT (KU31) 2)Firestone Wide Oval 3)CooperZeon ASP 4)Hankoon V8RS (Tried before, excellent but now bit pricey I think) 5)Nexen N7000 6)Maxxis MA-Z1 7)GT Radial HPX 8)Neuton NT5000 9)Federal Formoza FD2 10)Federal 595 EVO I just wonder if any of you bros have lobangs or contacts for shops that carry these tyres and possible prices you have been quoted (Especially 215/45r17 and 225/40r18). Also any new or update opinions on these tyres are much appreciated or pls add to my list if I have missed anyother brands out. PM if you have any lobangs k? Thanks!

    Govt Budget?

Just read HK budget, it is really conprehensive and their healthcare budget is fantastic. The way i see it is grow spore economy at our expenses. Our govt is so corncern about GDP growth and to produce postive balance sheet. So increase GST,HK no need have GST also have 16.4billion surplus. We achieve growth only by price increase How much more increase to sustain our growth rate????????
  12. SINGAPORE: The government has no plans to lower the rate of petrol duty despite higher oil prices. Minister of State for Finance and Transport Lim Hwee Hua said this is because petrol duty is a vehicular usage tax aimed at discouraging the excessive use of cars and promoting the greater use of public transport, and these objectives remain relevant. Mrs Lim was replying to a question posed by MP for Aljunied GRC, Mrs Cynthia Phua, in parliament on Friday. Mrs Phua had asked if the government would review its tax policy on petrol, diesel and natural gas to help reduce business costs for transport operators, businesses, as well as commuters. Mrs Lim explained that higher pump prices do not mean that the government gets to collect more petrol duties. She said: "The excise duty on petroleum is imposed on volumetric bases of 41 cents a litre for 92 and 95-octane petrol, and 44 cents a litre for petrol rated 97-octane and above. The excise duty is therefore a fixed sum per litre of petrol." There is no excise duty on diesel, fuel oil and natural gas used for generating power.
  13. Another hour plus to the budget report...... Whether how its going to be is everyone guess as US & Europe are heading for ressession. Goods news could be the import tax & road tax for vehicles, personnal income tax....etc to be reduced. Bad news is that cig & liquor tax to be increased, more ERP gantries to collect revenue for more MRT lines coming up. Before the budget even annouced, Universities fee had gone up by 5 to 20 %
  14. What do you expect from the budget this year besides the much talked about corp tax cut. Personal tax cut (to relieve GST)? Diesel tax cut? Custom excise duty cut?
  15. every yr car buyers waiting for cut in ARF (which has not been since some yrs ago). This time will it happen?
  16. Jan 7, 2008 15,000 free seats on Tiger Airways Spore-KL flights By Karamjit Kaur, Aviation Correspondent TWO days after Jetstar Asia offered Singapore-Kuala Lumpur one-way air tickets from 88 cents, competitor Tiger Airways has gone one step further. It is giving away 15,000 free seats - for immediate booking online - the budget carrier said in a media statement on Friday. Jetstar's offer ends on Tuesday. Whichever airline they choose, travellers will have to pay taxes and other surcharges that come to about $120 for a round trip. It is still a fraction of what it now costs to fly Singapore Airlines and Malaysia Airlines that currently dominate the market and charge more than $400 for a round trip. Low-cost carriers that have for years been kept out of the Singapore-KL market will start plying the route from Feb 1. For a start, Tiger which operates out of the budget terminals at both Changi Airport and Kuala Lumpur International Airport, and Jetstar which flies to the main terminals, will each operate one service a day between the two points. Malaysian budget carrier AirAsia is expected to announce details of its Singapore-KL service at a press briefing in Singapore on Thursday. The partial liberalisation of the market comes after years of lobbying from the airlines and travellers on both sides of the Causeway. By December, all restrictions will be lifted, which means low-cost carriers can fly as many times as they want between Singapore and KL. Tiger's chief executive officer Tony Davis said the airline will also continue to push for the rights to fly to other cities in Malaysia including Penang and points in East Malaysia. Jetstar, in the meantime, is so pleased with the response to its 88-cents Singapore-KL promotion fare that the airline is rewarding customers with a buy-one-get- one free offer for flights to all its 14 destinations, said chief executive officer Chong Phit Lian. Bookings must be made online at www.jetstar.com/specials/1+1 between Jan 9 and 11 for travel until Feb 3. http://www.straitstimes.com/Latest%2...ry_193694.html
  17. 1. Just back from Penang and feel like I need a more comfortable car. 2. So, I went test driving in the late afternoon and tested the Chervolet inline 6 Epica. Very smooth engine, no noise from 0-100Km/h. The interior is much more refined than Sonata and Magentis. At 78K, it is priced lower than the Civic VTI-S. It is not a big car, having the same wheelbase size as the Civic. Don't like the steering, which the SE told me will stiffen progressively at high speed. What can you expect? they even have electrically controlled driver seat and the mirror auto adjusted when reverse parking. 3. Then I stepped into KM, and tried the Stream and VTI-S(2008 version). Both within my budget and the price are priced neck to neck with each other. l like the furturistic dashboard design and it is clearly a driver's car than Stream. Now the challenge is space. VTI-S doesn't have the space that my daughter requires, she found the 3rd row of Stream comfortable for a nap. Since I drive to the North often, I wonder if a MPV makes better sense? This stream also funny one, no armrest nor center console for the driver, how thoughtful! 4. The wife likes the VTI-S as it feel more upmarket and just as comfortable. I like the sunroof that comes with Stream. Performance wise, both are about the same so it is a hard decision to make too. New Accord will be priced around 90+ range and I doubt I want to pay so much. 2.0SI according SE is more performance based and is only 3K+ difference. Stream has ready stock but Civic may not be available before CNY. 5. Would like to hear from Bros, who are driving Stream and VTI-S, the plus and minus of these 2 cars. If you have other recommendation at this price range, do let me know. Thank you very much. Regards,
  18. Anyone read this? http://blog.worldcarfans.com/index.cfm/807...irmed-by-proton If really the case, this "lotus" can consider buying (assuming that its a quarter of what an elise cost in Singapore)

  20. Hullo everyone! I know this is a car forum but can some kind soul out there tell me whether is it possible to get to the Budget Terminal using MRT? There is a sky train that links T1 and T2 but I don't think there is a link to BT correct? Does that mean that I got to walk from the MRT station? I don't mind walking if it not too far but in view of the wet weather lately, is it like a sheltered walkway or must brave the elements type?
