My ex-colleague just got driving licence 3 months ago, and got new job at Taus, but his home at Bodek, every morinig have to start at 6:30am "BUS-MRT-BUS" to his office, single trip about 2 hours, so to get a budget car as the topic, not only solve to/from work transport problem, but also can enjoy...with Lancer(M) and Sunny(M) both are the budgetest Jap cars, only $40k+, FC/power/handling is decent
  2. Hi icer, Need some help here. Was looking for amps for some time. Initially was introduced Lanzar heritage 4ch 1000watt. Later some installer advise me to go for Audison SRX4 at about S$400++, including installation. Can the bros here suggest some amps along this price range which I can compare with? Thanks.
  3. Good time to buy new car after Sept Maybe more will also be upgrading to bigger CC cars. But overall, this Budget doesnt really benefit me much ... Any thoughts and discussion on this?

  6. Saw on Saturday's Life section of The Straits Times that Automotive Technology brings in Hero tyres from Australia...wonder anyone had used it before it's introduction here...Tread looks agressive! Here is the link to HZ-1, http://www.herotyres.com/performance.html

  9. For me, it was exactly one week ago - I had the pleasure of actually coming in physical contact with a Mk2 Octavia. Yes, I left some fingerprints all over the car. Not locally, of course. For obvious reasons. However I couldn't bring myself to take a photo of it, just in case some mistook it for a Superb (which it looked very much like at a glance....)
  10. I'm wondering what $500 can get me, if I wish to install a DVD player in the car? Please advise me. Thank you. Regards,
  11. Hi Bros, Since changing to 17" rims the price of 215/45r17 tyres of the usual suspect like Yokohama, and Michelin have shot beyond my reach. However from searching this forum I have found hope in cheap, quiet(supposedly) yet good 17" tyres which cost between $120 and $145 per piece. Just hope that bros here who are using these tyres can give more updated comments on wear, noise and performance etc. They are.. 1) Firestone Wide Oval 2) Kumho Escta SPT 3) Goodyear F1 GSD3 (Made in Thailand) 4) Nexen N3000 5) Hankook V8RS H424 Also any new ones to suggest that I have missed out? Please advise. BTW Im excluding the BFG, Kumho 712, GT Radial and Nangkang cos they have been discussed to death liao and are not on my wanted list. Merry Christmas!!!

  14. Hi.. i am currently looking at doing up the ICE in my car and am considering changing the speakers as well. However due to budget constraints, am not able to afford those high-end speakers like clarion, lanzar, etc. Can anyone advise me on respectable quality speakers at a budget price (not more than $150)???? thanks in advance.
  15. Bros of this forum kindly post the current price of the different make and model and give your unbiased feedback abt the best budget car your money can buy in SG! I will start the ball rollin: Best: Chevrolet Aveo Toyota Vios Kia Rio Hyundai Getz Hyundai Accent Worst: Aveo : one of the cheapest budget car you can buy. Expect the unexpected as the interior and features can put some 1.6l cars to shame. Good after sales support, fast delivery, stable car, ABS included, average FC, roomy and endorsed by Genie! Toyota Vios: Should be the best if not for the crappy BM vvti engine with good FC, features packed, looks good. Lousy after sales and more expensive than other cars. Kia Rio: Cheap and good car to get you from A to B. Average FC Getz: Cheap and good enough for go from A to B. Horrible FC Accent: cheap and good enough to get from A to B. Horrible FC

  17. Hi all, Sourcing around for a new car b4 yr end, would appreciate ur views on any suggestions on a reasonable car to get with that budget. Please don't recommend any car that's out of budget ($110k max) as though they are nice to have, just can't afford it at the present time. My wife and I had targeted the Mazda 6 2.3 so far. Went down to the showroom and was quite tempted to get the hatchback there and then. However, decide in the end to source around more before commiting. Thanks
  18. Ok, Pardon me for missing out of some brands earlier. This should cover most of the budget car in SG. And those that have voted earlier, plz vote again. Thanks

  23. I'm getting a new mazda 323 in a week or 2 and would like to see how I can upgrade my car audio. I definitely need a MP3 player and would like to see how I can make the speaker system better with my limited budget. The mazda comes stock with a Kenwood HU with a 10 disc CD Changer in the trunk. The mazda audio contractor has offered the kenwood 7020 for $400 with a $100 trade in. But I shopped around and liked the 838 which they don't have, but they suggested the 828 instead, which seems too expensive for the budget. What can I do.. how good are the HU if I don't get an amp? I can probably spend another $200-$500 for the speaker/amp system. Question is, do I need an additional amp with the HU I'm getting? I don't need to blast music, just good sound (ok.. relatively). Given that I can only either upgrade speaker OR get an amp, what should I get? Pardon me... I'm an ICE newbie...
