  1. Is anyone using a GoPro camera? Thinking of getting one but wanna get some feedbacks and reviews.
  2. Hi All Been using this for about 6 weeks and thought want to share some of my user experience. Brand and Model Thinkware FXD900 I'll skip all the parts where you can find easily on Google or YouTube. http://www.inavi.com/Products/BlackBox/Gate?target=_Black_FXD900 Look and Feel If you are keen to know what does the box include, there's a YouTube video on unboxing it too. I bought it from ZMC, so installation is included and I don't think whatever leftover in the box is useful. Below are how it looks like after installation: Front camera - The white line at the front is a left-right moving white LED, which can be changed / off via software setting Back Camera - I had to take this photo from inside because my window film is making this almost invisible in the photo Ease of access to microSD Got a friend asking how easy is it to access the memory card. The short answer is difficult. I'll show you the pictures before I continue to the long answer. Memory card slot - at the back of the camera To access the slot, it means you have to move your rear view mirror every time Having said that, there isn't any reason for me to remove the card other than being curious what have been recorded. Once the memory card is formatted, settings configured, I don't really need to take the card out anymore. When the memory card is full, the recording will auto overwrite the older recordings. The Recordings Again, you can find a lot of video on YouTube. I find those video largely relevant an valid compared to my own video quality. I am adding a few screenshots to highlight the missing information. Day time recording is good, and you can use the software to zoom in the video, which is very useful in the event of unfortunate events. Also, you can swap the rear camera to the left window and zooming is possible too. Lastly, the GPS will show your location in the map. However, if you are at open car park at night time, the image quality is not impressive. I assume the result will be better if inside lighted MSCP. Below show a screen shot from open car park with little lights, I'm not sure if there's an event, will I be able to see the car plate. Having said that, I think with zoom in and the light from the other vehicle, there's a high chance I can. I don't really wish to find out with my cam at this stage... The Software It's called BlackViewer, which can be downloaded online. Setup is straight forward, settings are easy too. Below are the settings, most of these are set at the point of installation by ZMC. I did some changes which I will explain later. Some of the settings can also be turned on/off via the buttons on the camera itself. 1.Common Setting, no idea what does the brightness do. Perhaps I should change to Light and test it out. Voice recording records the voice in the car. Voice guidance is useful, it tells you how many events were recorded while parking, whether GPS connected etc. 2. Continuous settings, these are the settings when you are driving the car, I changed nothing. 3. Surveillance (parking mode). I changed the 15fps to 30 fps, no significant difference, hence I changed it back. I did reduce the sensitivity of the motion detection, because it was recording everything that moves... There is also a cut off when battery hits 12V or the duration is longer than 48hrs, meaning the camera will shut down to prevent drying the battery. I've been leaving parking mode on overnight and I have no issue with battery so far. 4. Additional Settings, this is where you change the LED light and also the microSD storage allocation.
  3. recently my company bought 10 digital cameras for our work use. however, all the sets did not come with the USB transfer cable. (mini usb type) so i emailed the manufacturer and a lady called me today. she told me that due to overwhelming feedback from consumers, they no longer ship their digital cameras with the usb cables. and the feedback was that consumers preferred to open up the battery cover and remove the sdcard and then download the pics using their computer or card reader, rather than plugging the usb cable between their computer and camera. so what is your preferred way of d/l your digital camera pics ? i told her that if i were to do that, i will be changing cameras very often as the battery cover will break or come loose more frequent too !
  4. No Photography, No Video Recording....... But Camera Phone allowed .... CNA report: 14 military camps to allow servicemen to bring in camera phones Posted: 31 August 2012 1336 hrs SINGAPORE: Fourteen military camps in Singapore will allow servicemen to bring in camera phones, starting from 1 September. Previously, all camera equipped mobile devices were disallowed in camps. The move is part of a six- to nine-month trial to give servicemen added convenience while performing their national service duties. Camps will be divided into "green" and "red" zones. Green zones are where camera phones will be allowed. When a servicemen enters a more sensitive red zone, camera phones have to be temporarily surrendered. Pulau Tekong Camp, Bedok Camp and Khatib Camp are taking part in the trial. - CNA/al Nowadays, which camera handphone do now have video recording facilities...
  5. So my Finevu CR300HD and CR500HD battery went dead. Thatz the normal thing for Finevu car cameras with lithium polymer batteries. After reading dashcam forum on how others replace their battery, I going to replace mine my way. I was thinking, since the lithium polymer will be dead in one year's time, why not just solder a connect and replace the battery externally. Much easier than open up the camera again. So my journey starts : Forum read was here : https://dashcamtalk.com/forum/threads/problem-with-the-finevu-cr-300hd-internal-battery.1083/ Detailed instructions of how to strip the camera here : http://www.blackboxmycar.com/blogs/news/10846777-battery-replacement-instruction I opened up mine as per above instructions. Remove the battery, de-solder the circuit board from the battery and solder the JST connector wires. Using my dremel, I drilled a nice clean hole thru the two casings.
  6. Dear Sifus, kindly help, afraid was caught picking up my daughter just 45 min ago (around 1810hrs) at Tanah Merah MRT 2 taxis there waiting, stop behind the second taxi to pick up my daughter who is already waiting LTA officer nearby taking camera photos (seems like taking photos of the taxi and my car) Did not block any vehicles for that few seconds and did not cross over the bus lane earlier (confirm dotted bus lane when I filtered from 2nd lane to left most lane) Have I committed any offence? If offence, can I appeal that I am not aware not supposed to use taxi stand to pick up anyone (sincerely don't know or perhaps did not pay attention to my highway code yrs ago). search this forum, no clues. additional questions - how abt bus stop? can drop off (if no bus lane)?

  10. Hi all, I encountered a man in blue, wearing a yellow reflective jacket, with a DSLR looking camera in the tunnel, facing oncoming traffic. Is this a mobile speed camera being held by a TP or policeman? It was after the normal fixed mounted camera in the KPE tunnel. Are they allowed to catch people in there like that? Or is it a surveyor? He was alone.
  11. Hi bros.. I'm a relatively new driver. Last night i drove back home from jurong pt along boon lay way along the left lane. It was red light at the junction at boonlay way and corporation road and I stopped behind a car at the left lane. The red light remained and the green turn left arrow appeared. The car in front of me turned left and i headed forward because i thought that the traffic light turned green as well (when it was still red, which was a very stupid mistake i made, no excuse for that). Is it possible for a red light camera to be active when the green turn left arrow is on together with red light? Is there a red light camera at that particular junction? or anywhere along boon lay way near jurong pt? How long will it take for the letter to reach me if i am caught by the camera? I am in deep regrets for the potential dangers or road hazards I could have caused for this mistake and I will make sure this incident will nvr happen again.

  15. Hi I am currently driving a 2008 Nissan Murano 2.5L. The car comes with reverse camera and a touch screen. However, whenever I activate the camera by reversing the car, the grid lines (or guidelines) doesn't appear. Does anyone know how to "activate" it? or infact it doesn't come with the grid lines to begin with? Thank you.
  16. My car camera has stopped working, it only captures 2 second black screen videos. Is it possible to swap it with another one and reuse the wiring? The wiring was concealed and done pretty nicely so having to remove everything would be a chore.
  17. Hi all, I be collecting my new car soon and most likely it will be bare with all accessories fixed outside by myself. Can i check which sequence of the above mention accessories is better to install first and reasons? My friend was telling me solar film then followed by car camera as the car camera need to stick on the windscreen so better put the film first else the camera will need to be removed when installing the film.. sounds logical.. so anyone has any advice? the items i am planning to install is solar film, front and back camera and head unit with reverse camera.

  19. For those who often venture in Malaysia, you might find a truck could that could show you the road ahead on a b-road particularly useful because it would be great to know when to overtake and when to stay put. So someone smart from Samsung installed a wireless camera at the front of a truck and connect it to a display at the back of it. The screen would then display an image of what is at ahead at the back of the truck. The system also works during the night thanks to a night vision sensor, which would come in handy whenever you find yourself driving on a country road with absolutely no artificial illumination in sight. We hope this simple and brilliant idea would be implemented soon because we believe this technology could really lessen the risk of a frontal collision by quite a bit! https://www.youtube.com/watch?t=68&v=ZetSRWchM4w
  20. I am just wondering how safe to install those high end car camera in your car ? Conversely , will this attract theft to break into your car to steal away ? Anyone heard this before ?
  21. Hi, my brother's car was hit by a taxi last Friday night, 12 June 2015, at about 11.15pm, 34 South Bouna Vista Road. Taxi stopped at the road side. My bro filter right to pass him then he suddenly turn right to the shophouses without checking and my bro hit onto him after jamming break. Now, the taxi driver wants to claim insurance and put all the blame on my bro. So, I'm seeking for any witnesses who were there to come forward with video evidence. Appreciate your help. Thank you!
  22. 23. Hi guys, I am looking at purchasing a dashcam in the upcoming IT show and I hope the gurus around here can enlighten me and point me in the right direction. The three models I am looking at are the Thinkware X500, Marbella QB6 and Blackvue DR650GW-2CH. I heard thinkware is super reliable. It has all the bells and whistles but the price is a bummer. The specs of the QB6 looks good and the videos look decent and can get the job done. Best thing is the price for 2CH full HD. However i would like to know its reliability, maybe based on past models because this is a new model. The Blackvue DR650 has the best form factor. However, I read online that the back camera sometimes turns totally purple. Blackvue also has quite a bad problem with heat. The most overheating problems come from Blackvue units. Having said all these, I am still a newbie at dashcams and hope you guys can help me out. Which should i pick and why? Also may I know approx how long do these cams last? Thanks a ton in advance
