  1. Dear all seniors, I need advice on the below. Involved in accident , own fault. Car was badly damaged. Authorised workshop mentioned total loss. My car is 5 years old and fully paid. COE & PARF value is about $36k. 2nd hand price in the market is about $75k with similar model and age. Allianz Motor Protect comprehensive insurance will pay for market value if declared total loss. Allianz not covers the COE & PARF value. Will I receive 2 separate settlements from Allianz & LTA? Allianz pays the agreed market value of the car, example $75k. LTA refunds the COE & PARF value $36k. How make the claim? How long it normally takes? So total I will get a refund of $111k? Sound like too good to be true. 😅 Many thanks.
  2. Hi, i'm a new driver and I still have a P-Plate. I'm about to buy my first car but i'm wondering if insurance will cost more for me? I'm currently 28 years old.
  3. What if i get into an accident with a Malaysia car? Can i claim?
  4. What if i get into an accident and make a claim after i have attained 50% NCD? Will i lose the 50% NCD and have to restart from 0 again next year? Just trying to understand more about NCD before i buy my first car.
  5. Singtel and Great Eastern have ventured into the very saturated market of car insurance in Singapore! https://www.singtel.com/personal/products-services/lifestyle-services/carprotect#hero-banner2 Anyone wanna be the guinea pig? 🤔
  6. Another day, another joker on the road getting what he deserves for his reckless driving. What happened In the wee hours of the morning, a Mazda 3 driver is seen driving down Admiralty Road right beside a large garbage truck. Wanting to filter to his right, the car flashes its right indicator lights to signal its intention. This is when things start to go horribly wrong. Instead of letting the truck pass, the Mazda driver fails to check for safety and starts to drift to the right. The weird thing about his behaviour is that he actually slows down right in front of the large truck as his vehicle performs the lane change. As a result, the car ends up getting hit in the rear by the garbage truck and continues along the road for a while before coming to a stop. It is unclear if the Mazda driver had hit the brakes on purpose or by accident. Additionally, the fact that the Mazda kept going after getting hit could mean that the driver did not realise that he had been hit. A great example of why all drivers die die must have insurance It is important to note that the Mazda 3 driver carries a P plate, which is a probationary license plate that should be put on display at the top-right portion of the front and back windscreens of new drivers. The plate can be taken down after a year of valid driving experience. As such, it is critical that all drivers, especially P-platers, have insurance in case of accidents like this. Annual premiums for car insurance typically start at $850, and the amount that you pay is determined by your age, your occupation, the amount of driving experience you have, your car model, and your claims history. For P platers and drivers below the age of 27, car premiums are through the roof as insurers deem these drivers to possess a higher level of risk of getting into accidents. Netizens' reactions P-platers, no matter the situation, there is no reason good enough to justify driving and switching lanes recklessly. Stay safe out there! -------- Save up to $600 on your Car Insurance renewal and compare insurance quotes from 12 different insurers hassle-free. 7. Dear all don't you think Singapore Car insurance companies need to offer more discounts for cars with additional safety features . people are paying top dollars for the extra features and it really reduces the possible risk on the road. Do you think it is fair for those paying the extra dollars, pay the same insurance premium as those don't have those extra safety features ??

  10. Imagine you are fetching a neighbor to work and this neighbor gives you a bar of chocolate. If you get into an accident, the injured neighbor is not covered by your private car insurance and he/she sues you. This is because private car insurance excludes "hire and reward" usage. Carrying of passengers with payment in this case. Anyone knows which insurer is willing to extend private car insurance to cover "hire and reward" ? Buying commercial car insurance is out of the question because you are not running a business and the payment is low.

Detroit man with marathon walking commute surprised with new car "A Detroit factory worker who has walked more than 20 miles (32 km) during his daily commute to work for a decade was surprised on Friday with a brand new car, donated by a suburban car dealership. ... Leedy told Reuters he was initially quoted a $15,000-a-year premium, a quote that illustrates Detroit's notoriously high insurance rates." http://www.reuters.com/article/2015/02/06/us-usa-michigan-walkingman-idUSKBN0LA2E420150206

  16. Folks who own TC car. Is yr premium higher compared to another variant of same make? Eg. A sedan with 2 variant 1.4L TC vs 1.6L NA. Are you paying the same insurance premium as a 1.6L variant? Or maybe I should phrase it as "Should insurance premium for 1.4L TC be lower than a 1.6L NA"? TIA for your inputs.
  17. Good Day Everyone In Here. Could any kind soul advise what is the duration/Time Frame for refund after I cancel my Certificate of Insurance for my car. 18. Not bad if it works well. A good alternative for car cameras. The pro of using this over the in car camera is that no need to retrieve/transfer the video footage from your in car camera, since you can just submit from your smartphone. More importantly it's free and also no cumbersome installation. I think this is a must for all drivers, who do not have a in car camera installed. Do note that the app will only be launched this Friday, and available for both iOS and Android. Now the thing is, where can I find a good bracket to mount onto the windscreen?
  19. Hi - I'm kind of new to the forum - any members have any inputs or thoughts of this Company - HL Assurance ?? Could not find much about them; Seems like quite new kid on the block but apparently much cheaper than current insurer and even Direct Asia tks

  23. I saw in the Straits Times that they advertise their premiums are low. Has anyone bought car insurance from them? Are their rates better than buying from agents, middleman etc?
