  1. given the current coe quota cut and sky rocketing coe prices, buyers with small budget will most likely go for 2nd cars and those who can spend on a new car will probably go for the more establish brands since it already cost so much to own a new one. will those not so establish brands (don't want to put any name but you should know who they are) eventually fold up?
  2. Anyone had done it successfully?
  3. Do you have any recommendations for used car dealers? Any Ethical Parallel Importers recommendation?
  4. Man, I'm telling ya, car prices are really high these days, really really high. How high you say? Car prices are so high, President Nathan will arrive in a Vios at the next NDP Car prices are so high, SAF will scrap GP cars and give all COs a bicycle instead Car prices are so high, Geely is rebranding itself as the new Rolls Royce. Car prices are so high, showrooms will list prices as $120k instead of $120,000 to save ink. Car prices are so high, you can take a 30 years loan and pay with your CPF. Car prices are so high, a wheel nut can soon be traded as precious metal. Ok, enough of that, Let's move on.

  9. I have been going thru sgcarmart after the COE surge last week...it seems that those who have purchased their cars last year should be sitting on profits now if they sell? Just an example, I understand Scirocco 1.4l was sold at $88.8K during launch in May 09. Now 2nd hand car dealers are trying to sell at $103K. scirocco That is like almost $15K of profit! Even if the dealer is to take a cut of $5K, the car owner would still be able to get $10K of profit? Am I missing something here?
  10. Wah piang! I didn't know taxi company can do that. Better stay away from taxi in future. "...cabby had signed a letter discharging TransCab and its insurer at the time, Liberty Insurance, from all claims relating to the accident." http://motoring.asiaone.com/Motoring/Drive...325-206694.html

Two different versions were sold, "Lusso" and "Turismo". The car is basically a two seater with room behind the seats to accommodate two small children on an optional cushion or luggage. The front seats are simple tubular metal frames with cloth upholstery on elastic "springs" and between the seats is the handbrake, starter and choke. The gear change is centrally floor mounted. The rear hinged doors have, on the inside, only a plastic lining on the metal skin allowing for valuable extra internal space. Instrumentation is very basic with only a speedometer and warning lights for low fuel, main beam, dynamo charging and indicators. The cabriolet fabric roof can be rolled back from the windscreen header rail to the top of the rear engine cover leaving conventional metal sides above the doors. The 12 volt battery is located at the front of the car on a shelf that can be slid out and the spare wheel is in a well under the passenger seat. [edit] Specifications Engine Two cylinder, two stroke, air cooled. Bore, stroke: 63 mm x 63 mm (393 cc). . Fuel economy is about 5L/100KM. The British Motor magazine tested a 400 de luxe saloon in 1959 recording a top speed of 51.8 mph (83.4 km/h) and acceleration from 0-40 mph (64 km/h) in 23.0 seconds and a fuel consumption of 55.3 miles per imperial gallon (5.11 L/100 km; 46.0 mpg-US). The test car cost 351,725 "old" French Francs. [1]

  17. After reading about one of the forumer's experience of his car being vandalised three times and my own personal experience one year ago, I am seriously comtemplating installing a security surveillance camera in my car. It will basically be used for security monitoring purposes. Have searched through the forum and found various models and types and price range but unsure what to get. My preference is for a system with the following features :- 1) motion detect activated recording (no need for whole night recording as will end up with unnecessary footage); 2) at least 2 cameras concurrently recording so as to cover the entire perimeter of the car; 3) audio recording as well (preferred but not essential); 4) recording should be of acceptable quality (images should be sharp); 5) price range around $600 thereabout. Any one who has used such a system kindly share your experience as well as model and price.

  21. wow...heng this car never come over to SG... Nano car fire raises safety fears 05:55 AM Mar 27, 2010 Mr Satish Sawant was proudly driving his new Tata Nano home from the showroom when it started smoking and burst into flames. He managed to get his wife and five-year-old son out before the flames engulfed the tiny car (picture). The company believes it was a one-off problem. But Mr Sawant's ordeal raises questions about quality as Tata Motors sets its sights on global expansion, with plans to sell the Nano - priced from US$2,500 ($3,500) - in Europe next year. Last year, three customers in India complained that their Nanos started smoking, a problem Tata Motors attributed to a faulty electrical switch. "As of today, is Tata good enough to take on the world? I would say no," said Mr Deepesh Rathore, an auto analyst at IHS Global Insight. "This is the time for Tata to have a deep look at quality." 22. My car just reach 3 years old, lost the inspection notice letter from LTA. Do I actually need to bring that letter along for inspection? Am I right to say that after inspection then I can pay my road tax. How about insurance? Is it car inspection first --> renew insurance --> renew road tax? I intend to renew insurance first, then go inspection center at the same time renew road tax. Is it the right way to do?
  23. Saw the prices never change much after the COE hike....are those prices still valid?
