  5. Hi all. Rather new here. Never sent any messages before. Just wondering about the legalities of carbon fibre bonnet. Is it legal to use in singapore? Thinking of having it for my car. Thanks
  6. Just spoke to my mom today and found out that her 1.2 Opel Corsa with easytronic was in the workshop for failing to start. Apparantly there was excessive carbon buildup. This is the 3rd time this problem has come up. I'm not too sure if the buildup was in the engine or in the cat as the same warning light alerts us to the problem, with it either blinking or just staying on depending on the problem (it has done both). Now my mom always pumps 95 octane shell (min 91) and according to the mech, its not the first time this has happenned with shell fuels. Has this happenned to anyone else? If so what fuel were you running on, and what make and model is your car? I've asked my mom to pump either BP or Mobil as i had no issues with both these fuels on my previous car (megane). Any other advice would be most appreciated too. Btw, I can't do any checking myself as I'm currently in aust while my mom is in singapore
  7. i realised that my used spark plugs taken out at the last servicing have carbon fouling, i went to check my new plugs on my car, it also have carbon fouling... i read from denso website that it is cause by over rich air/ fuel mixture, delayed ignition timing, bad ignition leads, plug heat range too cold. Anyone know how to cure this? very worried
  8. Any bros know any lobang to get the replica WRX lookalike GT wing in Carbon material?
  9. hi fellas, just wondering if there are any products that you can just dump into the petrol tank to clear carbon? i think going with a a few full tanks of vpower is a big hurting to the wallet
  10. Hi brothers, This post is more in way of information only. Following the suggestion from Brother Osiris to consider getting a carbon fibre bonnet, I proceeded to search around for one. As expected Optra5 being a less common car has no off-the-shelve carbon fibre bonnets like popular makes of VIOS, WRX and LANCERs. I proceeded to enquire with Sage Racing, a local company that also makes custom carbon fibre bonnets. See www.sageracing.net They advised that construction of a carbon fibre bonnet costs something around SGD$800 only. However, because the Optra5 is not common, they would need to custom design and construct a mold for the Optra5 bonnet. This design and construction of the mold will costs SGD$ 5000 and the mold would subsequently belong to me since they don't expect much demand for this model. Hence all in all the total expected damage assuming I am crazy enough to have this done is $SGD 5800. The only way to reduce this is to go in on a group basis with other like-minded crazies to custom design, construct and jointly own the mold for the Optra5 bonnet. Anyway, just an exercise in information sharing. Let me wait long long for a TOTO windfall then I may consider going ahead
  11. Fellow Skodians, Manage to find a workshop in Singapore that can do it.... Pictures not available but will be similar to your current bonnet.... 12. Hi everyone, can anyone enlighten me to the various possible scenarios leading to large amounts of carbon build-up on the tips of the exhaust? Temperature? Mixture? Oil? Fouling? Thanks guys.
  13. Wonder how many will be interested in getting carbon fiber bonnets for your volvo.. Material can be in Carbon Fiber or in Kevlar with colours to choose from to match your car body paint see samples from this link http://www.villagephotos.com/pubbrowse.asp?selected=870181 Carbon Fiber expected to be priced at S$1K whilst Kevlar carbon about S$1.2 ~ S$1.5. Kevlar will be lighter than Carbon Fiber though. need a minimum order of 6pcs to start to make the mould for volvo bonnet regardless of preference for carbon fiber or Kevlar. However, bonnet has to be at least 6 pcs for the same model to start the making of mould. Lead time will be about 2 months and 50% deposit to be placed upon confirmation of order. Let me start off the group buy: S60 bonnet 1) RS60 2) 3) 4) 5) 6)
