  1. Don't you think so? I meant geographical aspects. Not about land value but make sure it doesn't flood when it rains! Imagine you buy a house in an area that gets flooded when it rains? If not condo with underground carpark and the carpark gets flooded when it rains or low level units etc. Just to point out that its only going to get worse due to global warming. There will be less but more severe thunder storms, thus flash floods will occur more frequently.

  8. I have new neighbor who moved in a few weeks ago and have a dog that is locked up in at home all the time. I only saw my neighbor once as he is always out. The dog will always bark at the door at night. I am not complaining about the barking, i really pity the dog as I feel the dog is being neglected. This is abuse. This is the reason why I do not keep pets, I am afraid that I will neglect it. To all the boys n gals who want to keep pets. THINK BEFORE U ACT!!!
  9. Was shocked to hear that my colleague was robbed yesterday while going back to his JB house and was slightly injured but still ok. Money and document all gone. Heard another 3 shocking news from my KL friend. Firstly, a Benz owner was robbed and the car was taken away by the robber...however, after travelling for a short distance, the Benz engine dies off, immediately, the robber run back to the owner and cut his finger off in order to start the car's engine due to the thumbprint identification. Second was 2 lady (one is the driver and the other sitting at the rear) in the car waiting for the traffic light to turn Green. Suddenly, a motorcycle with pillion waiting beside their car break the front passenger seat window and snatch off the laptop bag, and the lady driver's handbag. Everything happened in split seconds where both was so shocked that they dunno what had happened. The last case happened to my friend's colleague whereby his car was robbed and he was brought to ATM and was forced to draw out all the money in his card. Luckily, the robber took the RM5,000 and the guy was released without any danger to his live with only some bruises during his struggling. The guy went to police station and made a report and the policeman told him he is indeed very lucky to survive from the Malay robbers. If he had met "Indian" or "Chinese" robber, he is unlikely to be released or even stay alive with just RM5,000. Please be extra careful when to our neighbouring country. If possible try to avoid going at this time although petrol is very cheap. Just be very careful and stay alert.
  10. Has anyone subscribe to this when you travel to MY....care to give your feed back. Thanks in advance.
  11. what you guys think about this medical cost in singapore i keep adding new insurance policies to my existing policy because my agent said that my previous policies would NOT be able to cover critical illness i dont think i can afford so many insurance policy i may die from starvation if they keep asking me buy more and more insurance i bought my first insurance when i was doing NS, my LCP "force" me to buy because if I dont buy i know I sure kena wash toilet for the next 3 months everything is privatising even our power stations (which are generally considered sensitive installations) http://www.asiaone.com/Health/News/Story/A...1019-94673.html Medical care is not a commodity By Lee Wei Ling MOST developed countries believe that the free market is the best system for allocating scarce commodities. The right price for such commodities, they believe, is best determined by allowing the forces of supply and demand to operate freely. But a free market can work efficiently only if sellers and buyers have roughly equal knowledge about the commodities changing hands. Such a condition does not always exist. Medical care, especially, cannot be priced like any other commodity because the seller (the doctor) has much more information than the buyer (the patient). The patient is therefore at the mercy of the doctor, not only in terms of what he is charged but also in terms of what he needs to 'buy'. For example, procedures that may be unnecessary, such as blood tests and radiological examinations, may be ordered by a doctor, and the patient would be in no position to refuse. One could argue, of course, that patients can shop around to find doctors who would offer them the cheapest package. But this is impractical: Patients with urgent medical problems do not have time to shop around. Patients from foreign countries would want to get their medical problems attended to quickly so that they can return home. Moreover, patients are usually informed of the medical procedures they require only after consultation with a doctor. They do not know beforehand what they would require in order to shop around effectively. This, together with the time constraint, makes it impossible for most patients to make an informed choice among doctors. Prior to 2006, the Singapore Medical Association (SMA) had a 'Guidelines on Fees' (GOF) for doctors in private practice. The GOF recommended a range of fees for various medical procedures. It was only a guideline, so doctors could deviate from the quoted fees if they wished. However, if they did so, they were expected to inform patients in advance. This enabled patients to know what was the 'premium' they were expected to pay for the exceptionally superior treatment their doctors were promising, and they could decide for themselves whether they wished to pay that premium. Sometimes, patients discovered they were charged much more than what was recommended in the GOF only after they received their bills. Some complained to the SMA as a result. In such cases, the SMA would request the relevant doctor to justify the extra charge, and if there was no reasonable explanation, it would advise the doctor to refund the difference. This advice was also transmitted to the patient who complained. Most doctors who overcharged without good reason followed the SMA's advice and refunded the money. The guideline worked, functioning both as a moral and practical rubric. In 2006, the SMA abandoned the GOF because it was encouraged to believe that the guidelines might contravene the Competition Act. Ironically, the purpose of the Competition Act was to protect consumers from being overcharged by allowing free-market forces to determine prices. And the GOF was designed precisely to protect patients from being overcharged by private medical specialists - always a possibility given the asymmetry of information between doctors and patients. To abandon the GOF on the grounds that it is anti-competitive is so illogical that I wonder whether anyone in the Competition Commission of Singapore understood that medical fees cannot be determined by free-market forces. The abandonment of the GOF has made patients the easy prey of unscrupulous private specialists. They can now charge as much as they think they can squeeze out of patients. Charges tend to vary, depending on the patients' addresses, whether they have medical insurance policies or are dressed expensively or wear jewellery. Foreign patients are more likely to be overcharged because they have no time to shop around. I know first-hand of an Indonesian patient who was charged $100,000 for a simple laparoscopic removal of a gall bladder, a procedure that usually costs $10,000 in the private sector. There have been enough cases of shameless profiteering to earn some private hospitals here a bad reputation. Public-sector doctors cannot overcharge because their fees are fixed by the Ministry of Health. Many of us in the public sector have had friends, both local and foreign, ask us for advice about which doctors in the private sector they should consult. They know that without medical information, they are unable to tell which are the good doctors, professionally as well as ethically. The current situation, with some specialists in the private sector overcharging, is bad for Singapore. The Government hopes to promote medical tourism. But news of overcharging spreads very quickly abroad. Unless action is taken soon, greed will kill the goose of medical tourism before it has had a chance to lay any egg, let alone golden ones. Overcharging is also bad for Singapore's medical fraternity. Young doctors watch what their seniors do and will overcharge too when they enter private practice. As it is, there is already an erosion of medical ethics here - not only because of overcharging, but also because of superfluous referrals to other specialists who are one's personal friends, unnecessary and expensive investigations and even some unnecessary procedures that carry risk of harm to patients. Medicine as a profession is a calling, and medical care cannot be treated as a mere commodity. If the medical fraternity does not act soon to cajole or coerce the black sheep among us to stop taking advantage of patients, Singapore's reputation will suffer and all its doctors will be tarred by the same brush. If we delay reforming the system, its faults will become more difficult to reverse. Reviving the GOF would provide one solution to the problem of overcharging. It is not a perfect solution but, as with many other problems in life, there is no perfect solution. We know that the GOF will work - because it did. 12. When guys first see you, they don't care about your character http://justwoman.asiaone.com/Just%2BWoman/...0908-86528.html IT seems the obsession with beauty is alive and well among Singaporeans. Ms Charmaine Choo, 21, for example, feels that her external appearance is crucial to her life. As a personal assistant, she feels that first impressions count. 'If you are well-dressed, people will think you have self-discipline. And if you dress poorly, people will think you're very lazy. 'If someone can't be bothered about their own appearance, how can they be trusted with other things?' Looks matter, especially when it comes to relationships. Ms Choo said: 'When guys first see you, they don't care about your character. Only your looks.' So what does beauty mean to her? 'Silky hair and big eyes with long eyelashes,' she replied. For Ms Choo, Japanese actor Takashi Kaneshiro is the most beautiful person in the world because 'his eyes are very expressive' and 'he looks humble'. Most of Ms Choo's beauty inspirations come from the movies, where she notices what the stars wear and how they are made up. Inspiration also comes from people-watching at Orchard Road, the Shenton Way area, and even at her neighbourhood coffee shop. For Ms Choo, beauty is the source of her confidence, and although she doesn't like men staring at her constantly, she wants them to look at her 'a little'. Ms Choo who spends $200 a month on three to four dresses, said: 'It's not just for the guys, lah. It's also for me. When I look good, I feel good.' When asked if she would consider other definitions of beauty, she replied: 'No. It's just my personality. I just like nice things.' She said: 'Honestly, I feel that people who enter this (Aware) competition are deceiving themselves a bit. Maybe at this point in time, their presentation might not be important to them. 'But later on, surely they will find a reason to be beautiful. Don't tell me they don't want to look good on their wedding day?' Hmm.... no other definitions of beauty... Beauty as a source of confidence... Placing a high priority on looks in relationships...

  17. I still remember the day when I was covered in sweat and mud during battalion exercise, after trench digging. We were eating rations that was sprinkled with our sweat dripping on the food. My men were all extremely bitter and suddenly this LCP from my section threw his ration on the ground and yelled: "PCBKNNBCCB, SGT, what the f*** are we doing here? Suffering so much and yet more and more FTs are coming in to suppress our salary, compete for jobs and drive up the cost of living!". An awkward silence ensued. Then, a thunderous tirade erupted. Even my fellow specs and some of the officers were grumbling about this unfair treatment. He then kicked the packet away and reported sick, along with half of the platoon.

  24. I'm extremely frustrated with a auntie's act just now below my block. It just shows how much respect you have for other people and i sincerely hope you start to treat other's people car nicer even though you don't care about your husband's car. SGB####T *Staying around 140+ Simei st 1* i just got my p80 and was trying to setup all my fm to the channels i like. Your husband car came along and parked beside mine. *BOOM* You opened the door like it weigh a ton and smashed into my door. I was stunned but eventually pissed when i realised what had happened. The best part is that you stared at me, as if i bang my door into yours. You walked to the front of your car and proceeded to move off, even had the cheek to stare at me again before you leave. I hope this is not what you educate your children to be because you did it right infront of your little boy and girl, whom both of which is still in primary school. By nature i am a nice guy whom don't mind to have more friends then to make 1 more enemy, but your behaviour is really outstanding i must say. Thanks for reading my ranting. I hope you believe in karma.
  25. Any recommendations for interior leather care and dashboard care? Basically I don't really care much about the exterior of the car as it belongs to the public. No matter how well you maintain it, some clown can just scratch it, bird sxxt on it, dogs pee at your tyre, tree sap drips on it,...etc. And also we spend 99% of our time on the inside of the car and not outside it. I just want someone who is good and doing the interior at a reasonable price. Any recommendations? Thank you!!
