  1. Wah!! Nice, very nice car!! White in colour one. Reminds me of the Mk III that was on sale in sgcarmart by eurospeed auto quite sometime ago. Looks exactly the same. Maybe the person bought the car?
  2. Sometimes at MSCP it can be quite dark in the carpark at 6.30AM - 7.30 AM after the carpark light swtich off. Point here is, do you switch on your headlight when you're driving up/down the carpark when it's still really dark? even if it's just that few seconds in the dark carpark? There are SOME BOBO drivers who expect people to see them in the pitch dark., no consideration. (Btw, did i say the car's black colour?)
  3. How to go about changing carparks? Do I need to cancel my current one and reapply? Or can they just do a transfer?
  4. Just want to share a rare gem I found at my carpark. Usually I park at lots more accessible to the lift lobby, but just a few days ago I came home late and had to park at a far corner of my place. Tonnes of nice cars there...A chilli red R35 GT-R, Nicely done-up WRX, YRV Turbo, etc....but this one takes the cake! At first I was "whoa! It's a very old Golf, perhaps a MK2". The car is very well-kept end the paintjob is still top-notch. The interior is either refurbished or so well kept over the years that it looked so new. The car looked stock too but I reckon the red grille trims, black VW logo and the rims are aftermarket. Upon looking up in the net then I realise it's actually a Golf GTi MK1 it with full fender trims. Even the red grille trim is originally found in the MK1! Now I know where the current GTi get their design from.. This car is so well-kept in stock form! I guess only the rims are aftermarket! Accordingly to Wiki, it's a 1.6l engine with mechanic Fuel Injection as opposed to carburators, a new tech in those times. A whooping 110ps for a 80s engine will put many modern contemporary engines to shame! Century sprint is 9.6sec, better than most moderm B&B cars! Seeing this make me want to keep my car for over 20 years...of course in SG context, easier said than done, esp for a FIed car. Now I regular park near this rare semi-classic. :) Hope to see a Swift GTi or Charade GTTi on the roads in stock condition, though I doubt there's any of them left...
  5. Based on today's news, they are working to ease the shortage. Before they use the excuse of increasing season parking fees, I would like to reprint the following article from 2002 when they increased the fees by 11-20%, and also to remind HDB that there are some motorists with good memories with regards to such increases HDB carpark operations are profitable Business Times May 28, 2002 SINGAPORE BY Lee Han Shih CONTRARY to popular belief, the Housing and Development Board does not lose money on its carparks. In fact, it is making good profits out of them. HDB, which houses 85 per cent of Singaporeans, is also the nation's biggest carpark operator. As a rough guide, it builds three parking lots for every four flats in its estates. It now manages more than 640,000 car, motorcycle and lorry lots. Operationally, these are highly profitable. In financial year 2000-01, HDB made $87.1 million from its carparks - half of that 'contributed' by motorists' parking fines. The year after, profit eased to $80 million. Yet, despite these figures, HDB carparks are officially losing money. Early this month, National Development Minister Mah Bow Tan told Parliament the carparks lost $99 million in financial year 2000-01 and $105 million in FY2001-02. To reduce these losses, HDB has no option but to raise parking charges by 11 to 20 per cent come September, the minister told fellow MPs. Mr Mah bears the brunt of a rising storm of protest over the rate hike. But some have rallied around him. Among them was Wee Kiat Sia, head of HDB's carpark section. In a letter to the Straits Times, Mr Wee said: 'The HDB residential carparks are heavily subsidised as current charges are way below the cost of providing these carparks.' So are HDB carparks a money spinner or money loser? It depends on how you tally up the cost. Costs for projects such as carparks, MRT lines and power stations come on two levels: developmental (money spent to build them and to service loans) and operational (money spent running them). Operationally, HDB carparks are profitable. But when interest payments are included, they plunge into the red. HDB borrowed perhaps $4 billion from the government to buy state land and to build carparks. Servicing these loans is the single biggest expenditure item for HDB carparks - and the reason they are in the red. When the carparks suffered a $83.6 million deficit in FY 1999-2000, interest paid to the government was $175.1 million. In FY 2000-01, the deficit was $99 million and the interest payment $186.1 million. Taking away cost of interest, the carparks are immediately profitable: $91.5 million in 1999-2000 and $87.1 million in 2000-01. When Mr Mah and Mr Wee talk about deficits and the need to raise rates, they include both developmental and operational costs in their computations. This is not always the case with government projects. Take the MRT, for instance. The cost is split into two: MRT Corporation (now part of the Land Transport Authority) carries all developmental expenses, including interest payments; while SMRT runs the rail system. This allows SMRT to show a profit and go for a listing. If SMRT were to bear both developmental and operational costs, it would run at a loss, there would be no IPO - and fares would have to be raised sharply to cover its deficit. Can the same approach be applied to HDB carparks? If the government shoulders the building cost, the carparks will be profitable and there will be no need to hoist parking fees. But it is not fair for the government to subsidise motorists at the expense of those who take public transport, Mr Mah told Parliament. This leaves HDB with the full responsibility of running the carparks and making ends meet. Even if one accepts this, there are other solutions apart from raising parking charges. Why, for example, is it still paying the government 4.5 per cent interest when it can refinance its loans at better rates? At 3.75 per cent, its interest cost would be cut by $31 million a year - the exact same amount it would get from the parking rate increase. Thus, a simple refinancing of its loans would do away with the need for the unpopular rate hike. But a bigger issue is land cost. HDB may have overpaid for the land it bought for the carparks. Hence the deficit every year. When a private landlord overpays, he lives with the losses, as it would be suicidal to try to pass the cost to customers. (If, say, Ngee Ann City upped its parking fees to $10 an hour, motorists would take their cars and their business to Paragon and Mandarin Hotel.) As a monopoly, HDB has the luxury of being able to raise rates and make them stick. Car owners in housing estates may complain, but they have no other place to park. So they have been made to pay for HDB's mistake. From this perspective, Mr Mah is not wrong to say there is subsidy for HDB carparks. It is just that the subsidising has been passed from the government to hapless motorists.
  6. she is the worst parking attendant i have ever met. Rude, unhelpful and no brainer. My colleague and me had been working in that place since 2002. since then, the parking system requires cashcard entry and same card on exit. today, my colleague drove out his car for lunch ( i was the passenger ) and while exiting, the barrier doesnt open prompting an error reading the card. he tried the another cashcard and its the same ( he only has 2 cashcard in the car ). out came this auntie screaming away insisting that he used the wrong cashcard. she refuse to open the barrier and expects us to sort out a solution. fact is, he has only 2 cashcards in the car all the while, no way he could have inserted a "third" card. so we waited for a good 5-10mins, holding up the traffic behind. then she opened the barrier screaming some vulguarities. my colleague was calm all the while and became angry after all these commotion. we will most likely pursue the matter to the carpark management although we highly suspect the auntie is related to the boss. any bros here work or visit there becareful of this crazy woman.
  7. Just received a summon from premas this morning, indicating that my father's car was parking in the seasons carpark lot during night time.... it was a white lot but the officer at the call centre explained to me that HDB has the whole CP into season carpark (night)... bottom line is, the lot my father was parking is a white lot with white numbering... is there such thing as "white season lot"??? Sorry if my question sounds to stupid... but i seriously didnt know about this after driving for so many years...
  8. Wow what a way to start the weekend for these poor owners. No idea what the boys in blue will do next.... http://singaporeseen.stomp.com.sg/stomp/sg...ok_carpark.html Paint was splashed on at least two cars parked at Blk 114a Bedok North and the culprit is still at large, says STOMPer sammy, who hopes that the vandal will be caught soon. The sender saw these two cars with paint deliberately splashed across their bonnets. A security camera should be installed at the carpark, he suggests. STOMPer sammy says: "I saw this at Blk 114a Bedok North Street 2, muti-storey carpark. "I wonder if the police will be able to catch the culprits behind this. "And I hope that HDB can consider installing cameras at the MSCP".
  9. I always wondered, when authorities enforcing time based offences, whose time do they use? For example, was driving next to Bus lane just now at 9.25am, so what if I enter the bus lane at 9.26am. (Bus lane ends at 9.30am) perhaps my car clock already shows 9.30am. ERP no argument cause the clock is on the gantry so for carpark and bus lane, do they have 'unofficial policy' that the 1st & last 10 mins they do not really summon you. Anyone knows how it officially works or kenna summon at 9.29 am before?
  10. Has anyone encounter a spectacled women tailing you to your car in Funan Center carpark, then acts like she is so desperate and asks you for money (by selling you tissue paper). Her reasons are husband is unemployed and she needs to feed her kids. I suspect she is trying to get sympathy from lone driver and get more money. Why wouldn't she sell her tissue paper else where but in a deserted carpark?
  11. wow click the link to see the pictures http://www.asiaone.com/News/AsiaOne%2BNews...828-234409.html SINGAPORE - A COUPLE was seen engaging in some daring public act of affection during the daytime on Friday, August 27, according to photographs sent to citizen journalism website STOMP. The female was topless and sitting on top of her male partner, allowing him to grope and fondle her naked body. This was done in full view of the public at the multi - carpark of Block 34A Marsiling Drive. A reader's mother first spotted the couple at 5pm, and they were just chatting, they then started to kiss. "At that time we couldn't care less because we thought they would be smart enough to look around and notice that there might be people watching them but no, it turned out to be a very passionate kiss and we were really shocked when the girl removed her top and then even her bra," Nur' Ilham told STOMP. Nur' Ilham was horrified at the audacity of the girl, and she went to fetch her camera and started taking photos of the couple, who seemed to be really engrossed with themselves. The girl even laid down on the dirty floor and allowed the guy to touch her all over. "They stopped a couple of times to look around but the weird thing is they didn't spot us though it really obvious that we were looking at them. "They did it on for about an hour," Nur' Ilham told STOMP. "I believe it is becoming a trend among young couples who can't get their own rooms to engage in such raunchy behaviour in public. "According to my friends, they have seen these things happen several times in our neighbourhood. "Maybe it is time for parents to be aware of what their kids might be doing when they are out." This is the most daring case of public act of affection in Singapore reported lately. The newspapers and STOMP had in recent months highlighted incidents of young couples engaged in daring acts of public affection, taking places in neighbourhood parks, shopping malls, carparks and even school compounds.
  12. those who always go to vivo, take note. When u going to leave the mscp, take out ur cashcard from ur IU first. wait till u cross over the ERP barrier on the level juz b4 the ramp then put ur card back in. juz now i was leaving vivo on the 6th story. when i passed the barrier, i was surprised a sum of money was deduced from my cashcard. when i reach the ground level erp barrier, the monitor cant scan my entry time. so i call the cp operator n say when exiting on 6th flr, the machine already deduce from my cash card hence now i have no more entry time. the operator juz say, sir not possible as the machine is not up yet, so no cash amount will be deduced. they later send a guy over to check what my prob. at this time, there alot of vehicles jammed up behind my car waiting to exit. again i explain to this guy what happen at the 6th flr gantry. he also say not possible as the machine is not up yet. from his looks, he was suspecting i dun wan to pay the cp fee. i lost my patience got out of my car n fark him saying loudly, this is ur mistake, not mine, dun farking waste my time. in the end he gt instruction to raise the barrier for me to exit. wonder if i m elite, will i be treated like that?

  14. Just realised my car was badly scratched by the side when my fren sat in my car, it shld be scratched abt 1 mth ago at bugis carpark and i thought there was not much damage at that point of time. The scratch consists of many lines of abt 5 by 10cm and there are 2 such area. I know its difficult to assess how much is the damage without pictures, but anybody roughly know? its abt lets say 20% of the lower portion of the door. Also, any reliable workshop to reccommend for touch up? oh yea, location shld be at the east side preferrably, as i stay in hougang. Thanks alot
  15. Hi fellow forummers, I went to Vivo for a movie and after watching it, I collect my car which I parked at seah imm carpark. Parking charges will be $0.50 for half an hr for the whole day till nite. Super sian manz..another cheap parking gone ! Usually I park at seah imm carpark and tore $4 coupon and take a 15mins bus ride to work now got to find other alternative . 16. hI gUYS, I always see those car polish ppl in carparks. Are they any good, never try b4.. Of course i don expect high grade polishing and stuff since some of them only charge $40 plus but at least must be able to tell the difference before and after. But since so cheap will it be good to do it every month rather than spending on a high grade polish and do it every 3 months? Am also thinking of supplying my own wax and stuff and let them do the job. any comment?
  17. If this is army boy, sure kenna charge . How about policeman? http://www.asiaone.com/static/motoring/gallery/video_police/

  20. Ok, I think I lost my fine slip. Which company is the one who summon the fine outside ICA building? I searched under HDB and URA, key in my car plate, but no outstanding fines. Hence, wondering other these 2, who else? Thanks all!

  23. Went to Jurong East Central to NTUC today at 2:15pm. The entire carpark was Jammed up, cannot go in nor comming out. Apparently the exit manual card reader was spoilt, so those foreign cars cannot insert their cash card into the exit barrier reader. (the automatic IU sensor is functioning and singapore cars were able to exit quickly) So all the cars jammed up. For a fooking 15mins the cars were jammed with no wilson personnel come and help. Somehow the exit barrie automatically open for the malaysian car to exit, maybe the wilson personnal just woke up and saw from his security camera about the stucks car at the exti barrier and decided to forgo one car fees. Slowly the cars began to exit and the entry cars were able to move up the carpark. Ok....finally went in can get a carpark at 2:30pm. Shop for one hour at NTUC. Thought the problem would be solved after one hour. BUT BUT The SAME fooking jammed is still there at 3:30pm when I was coming out. After getting stuck for 5mins, I went out to investigate. The barrier area was FREE of cars coming in or out. WEIRD situation? How come still stuck???? Due to the design of the carpark, the incoming cars are tying to move up the levels, while the outgoing cars are trying to move down the levels. So coincidently at that 3:30pm moment, all cars got into the stuck situation whereby non of the incoming/outgoing cars are able to budge. I don;t knwo how to describe it corectly, but think of a oval loop of cars, where all the cars are stuck in that same loop, not moving up or down. No one seems to want to give way or even able to reverse to give way as the cars are piled up. All the cars start horning for the next 10mins without anyone helping with the situation. Finally I was able to persuade a good natured incoming driver to break the Loop of curse and begged him to make a detour out of the carpark, thereby freeing my car and the rest of the cars going out. Thank you for your kind understanding! Feeking lousy design, this particular car park in jurong east central. Buay tahan.....wilson should have sent a personnel to jagar the carpark once they know the jammed has being created by their spoilt exit manua card reader.
  24. I was stuck on the slope. think some car have difficulty climbing the slope. anyone knows what happen? a fully loaded smaller cc car? but to be fair to the car, the floor was pretty wet.
