  1. Sick of viewing carpark notice if is free anot during public holidays n sunday, y can't they just standardised all carpark that needs cupon display to be free on sunday. Won't be suprise some carpark areas 50m difference can meant high difference in charges.
  2. Hi all, I wonder if any of you experienced this situation. I was exiting Shaw Centre carpark and the gantry did not open. Actually money was already deducted from my cashcard, but I didn't notice it. A lady from the control room came out and asked me for my cashcard. She slot it into the machine and the gantry opened. Later I realised I was deducted twice. 2 days later I called up the carpark operator and was told they only saw 1 successful deduction from their system and they will inform NETS to call me regarding the refund. So funny right? In this IT high tech age, their systems are not even connected? I just hope the refund will not be too troublesome. Lesson learned : If met with similar situation, I will not pass my cashcard to any staff just to open the gantry.
  3. Nowadays the handicap lot there is a number there for you to call when you see people parking illegally there. Am impress with it, their response is quite good within 30mins or lesser i guess Called in on a car that was in the handicap lot where there is tons of empty lots around and when i came back later after 30mins later i saw a summon there of $400~ I think people should call in if you see people parking illegally there.
  4. A BMW car caught fire at a carpark in the Geylang Serai on Wednesday (Mar 27), reported STOMPer Wiism who came across the scene and called the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) for help. In his report, the STOMPer wrote: "Was walking by Block 2A in Geylang Serai at about 12.30pm on Mar 27 when I saw smoke coming out from under the hood of a parked BMW 7-series car. "Thinking that something was amiss and being afraid that the car might explode, I called the SCDF and quickly moved to a safe distance from the car. "The car seemed to be unoccupied at the time. "As I waited anxiously for the SCDF to arrive. I noticed some other passers-by try to extinguish the fire by using a fire extinguisher and the water hose, which can be very dangerous. "Nevertheless, the SCDF came promptly to extinguish the fire and thankfully, no one suffered any injuries." http://singaporeseen.stomp.com.sg/stomp/sg...ai_carpark.html
  5. Hello all, who had been fined for carpark in JB before? I was fined for RM30 when I parked the car to purchase something at the incense shop near Giant. I frequent to JB a lot, so wanted to know how do I pay off the fine. Thanks a lot.
  6. Good morning to all, got involved in this so called carpark rage this morning and would like to seek advice from seniors here. I was looking for a carpark lot near henderson market this morning. As i was moving ahead in the long stretch of open air carpark, i noticed a taxi preparing to move out from one of the lots, however before i approach that "potential lot", a Fiat goods vehicle was stationary( about 4 lots away from the potential lot) along the road without hazard lights on. I decided to overtake the goods vehicle and stop just ahead of that potential lot where the taxi was about to move out, put on hazard lights and engage reverse gear to standby for a reverse parking procedure, as i was just about to reverse in, the goods veheicle sped up, horned me to signal its displeasure. This later brought about a quarrel over the lot between me and the driver. After this incident, i felt that i might have prevented it by just stoping beside the goods vehicle to check its intention before proceeding on as a act of courtesy. however, since he there was no hazards lights on or whatsoever to signal its intention, can i assume i have to right of way to overtake it and park into the lot? Whos is right and who is wrong here? Wish to seek advice from you guys here. Many thanks!
  7. empty_carpark_lots.bmpWith effect from 15 Jan'13, URA main tower carpark has turned away public and solely for season parking. On top of season parking, season parking holders were told to park at yellow lots as red lots were specially for URA. I have been parking my car in that carpark for 3years. On 15 Jan, I experienced a very poor and well managed treatment. Being a season parking holder, I was shoved away to park at yellow lots. Those yellow lots were not ideal lots as they were limited, mostly located at basement 2 and majority of parallel lots. The first come first serve available parking lots were no longer valid. From 15 Jan, convenient lots were painted red (previously were yellow lots but were painted red on 14 Jan'13 with no indication). On top of that, there were NO indication of red lots. I can understand red lots labelled as reserved for management for CEO etc.. but there were no indication for the first 2days. Warning notices were placed on cars. I simply cant believe and accept the fact that in Singapore context, red lots were indication of season parking. Being a season parking holder, I was not allowed to park at the red lots and was told for URA only. What is this? Prejudices ? Biases? sub standard? I paid for the monthly season parking as the URA tenant or staff. (not certain of there were discount for those URA staff or tenant but the fact is season parking holder were not given much consideration.) Why were those lots made red and deliberately for URA season parking convenient? Season parking holders are considered a second grade? No more of first come first serve? I need to ferry my kids from school during lunch hours. With such inconsiderate arrangement, I need to spent 2-3more mins extra in the carpark to look for space (Everyday) mainly because most unfavourable yellow lots were now on basement 2 instead of basement 1. I noticed that the red lots were under-utilised by URA. Many at times, I saw the empty red lots not occupied. Also they wasted resources by having caraprk attendants to be in the carpark making sure that season parking holder dont park at those red lots. (only on 16 Jan evening, they started to paint the red lots with extra working indicating - RESERVED). This is a stupidity act and poor managed implementation. Reserved for who??? who is the big shots? Its really degrading season parking holders with the Different standards. I was told by one season parking holder that he was charged for early entry to the carpark. This is ridiculous, season parking holder needs to pay more for early entry. Have you heard of that??? paid season parking yet have to park for fine when you entered the carpark earlier. I was not told there was a timing for Season parking holder. Poor communication from URA. For many years, the carpark serves numerous public because of the locality that is next to Maxwell food centre and Chinatown, it brings convenient to the hawkers and also public who patronage the area for food and others who visted URA for design building and etc purposes. Now public were told to park at the east wing, it was not a well facilitated carpark. Hawkers and public can never find the convenience. I am sad as I am treated like a second class citizen. Disturbing me as I have to waste of time to drive round the carpark. (Everyday) . If fact I was thinking, those URA lots for URA staff and tenant, they will spend most of the time in the building why on earth they need prority lots. I urge the management will look into this. I dont mind to bring this up to higher authority or even the minister of URA... Think of it second grade treatment, I must pursue
  8. Hi all, anyone uses the carpark at Shangri-La Hotel before? Is this an open space in front of the hotel or in the basement? Are the lots narrow also by the way? Heading there for a wedding dinner so just want to check before i make a wrong turn, and definitely do not want to use valvet parking. Thanks

  10. Ok bros... not too peculiar like got alien invasion etc. Today i'm on leave, and at about 11+ pm, I decided to meet an old friend at his HDB void deck to chit chat (very ah chek i know). I parked my car at a red lot (season parking only).... there were many lots available (70% empty) because its a normal working day. My car remained at most 10-15 metres from where we were chit chatting. then came a non-chinese cyclist within 2 minutes after I parked my car. In his bicycle, he squeezed through my car and the adjacent car even though there were plenty of other spaces for him to cycle. He was dressed very very casually, in an o-biang shirt and shorts, wearing a cap. He had spectacles on. He peered into my car for a good 10 sec, especially at the front windscreen area. Initially, I thought he is a summon officer. But curiosity get the better of me and I continue to observe if he will whip out his summon handheld device. Shortly, he passed my car, steady himself on the bicycle and start riding away. This was when i pressed the unlock button on my remote. It caught him by surprise.... he smiled and rode away. In that split sec, I shouted "what's the problem?" at him. I'm just really curious what was he trying to do? 1) He is a crime watch assistant, trying to report to police post people who anyhow park illegally. 2) He could be a thief, during day-time look into the car, night time break and steal. At my front windscreen area, I have 2 device holder, one for GPS, one for mobile phone. 3) He is a summon person, but decided to give me some allowance. But he is TOTALLY not dressed like one. Everything about him is very unclean. Anyhow has such experience to share?
  11. Poor thing, better be careful when you reverse in car park
  12. You might have heard of stories where a vehicle gets into an accident when the driver mistakenly steps on the wrong pedal, for example, stepping the acceleration pedal instead of the brake pedal while parking. In order to eliminate such accidents from happening, Nissan has unveiled a new technology which will help reduce accidents caused by pedal misapplication and it will debut on the new, upcoming Nissan Elgrand at the end of this year. The technology is known as the Emergency Assist for Pedal Misapplication with Carpark Detection Function. It uses one of Nissan

  14. Dear drivers, Our enforcement officers are doing a tough job answering to calls requesting for enforcement. I wonder why drivers who are in the wrong have to cheek to scream at them and verbally abuse them? "You are just a F**king carpark attendant. I pity them at times.
  15. Yes....literally. http://sg.news.yahoo.com/video/luxury-car-...-043410586.html
  16. Hello bros, Went to pick up my car this evening which was parked in a HDB MSCP since morning and to my horror, I saw my car front bumper almost came off!!! I believe some irresponsible driver must have knocked into my front bumper hard during reverse and drove off. Strange thing is I can't find any signs of dent and crack on the bumper and in fact it is still in quite good condition save for a few fine scratches at the bottom which I believe is from the fall. But on closer look I found the holes on the bumper used to secure with plastic screws were broken. Even on the ground I was able to find a few cracked plastic material tightening screws lying around. But as the lower part of the bumper is still secured to the car front, in the end I managed to push back the whole bumper into position and drove off. I am really at a loss what to do next. In such scenario, should I claim my insurance or just find one workshop i can it repaired? By the way, I am at full NCD so this will surely be reduced isn't it? Given my scenario, approximately how much would it cost to repair (ie. no dent no real scratches just the tightening part is on)? Are there any workshop to recommend that opens on Saturday? I am staying around Pasir Ris area. And I believe I can still drive slowly to the workshop. Any advise what i should do ??? Appreciate any advise. Thanks in advance.
  17. It is official. Market Street Car Park will be no more. In its place? Yet another office building in the heart of Raffles Place. The CBD parking crunch just got worse. With rental values of office space back on the upward trend again, it is no surprise that the owner of the Market Street Car Park has decided that the land it sits on would be better utilized as a proper commercial/office property rather than serving the needs of hundreds of drivers who work in Raffles Place. Well, it is hard to say no to money. But, perhaps businesses and organizations in Singapore should be quicker to do a rethink of their mentality that provision of car parking spaces as a drain on profit. Owners of commercial properties and shopping malls should be the first to take heed. After all, despite whatever the Government is trying to do; most middle and upper class Singaporeans simply refuse to travel on public transport. And, if you make parking difficult or if you charge an exorbitant rate for parking; there will come a time when the balance is tipped and drivers will simply figure that it isn't worth it any more and they will choose to pass on the shopping mall. Drivers are customers too; often generous ones at that. Property developers too have been all too anxious to cut down on the provision of car park spaces once the Government authorities have relaxed the requirements. Every square foot expended on parking, is one less square foot to be sold. While their sales talk about how providing 1 lot per unit is enough may smoke the first time house hunter, savvy drivers/house buyers are increasingly becoming aware of parking woes cropping up in newer private properties. After all, most who can splash the cash for the record breaking property prices today have the means to buy a second, third or fourth car. And when parking spaces become scarce, neighbourly relations take a beating and sometimes the parking woes get published all over the internet or the papers. That can only be bad for the property value. So to the big-wigs at these huge businesses, it is time to do a rethink. It might be a wise investment to build a little bit more parking space than you deem necessary. In quasi-business lingo, this is a hedge against the risk that the market attitudes change.
  18. how many times have you encountered or saw carpark standoffs between two cars travelling in opposite directions and meeting head on ?? why can't one be ready to give way or reverse abit just to let the other car pass first ?? is it really so hard to give way ?? just saw a MPV in my carpark last night ... die, die remain stationery just after a bend. a bmw had to turn so close to the mpv just to exit the carpark. if the mpv had just reverses about 3meters to 5meters (ample reverse apace), the bmw wud have exited the carpark so much faster and the mpv could also have parked in sooner. i always give way to the car in the other direction .... "buay sia suay" one ... but instead, it will get me to my destination faster.

    Carpark hoggers

was reading the thread on those who open doors and hit other cars ... and it reminded me : today my aunt had birthday lunch at a restaurant in the hdb area ... reached there but the white lots were taken up only left red lot, so circled around the carpark until the third time when i saw a man carrying two plastic bags with him walk up to his blue lancer. so i drove up and waited 3 cars infront of his lot and waited for him to come out. at the same time, a Sunny had also come up behind but that Sunny knew i was waiting for the lot and parked further back. after waiting for almost 4 mins, the $%^!!@MF lancer still never come out. so it dawned upon my that this !@$#~MF was a carpark hogger and true enuff, once i drove off, he immediately came out of his lot !! KNNBCCB !! then the Sunny lucky lor ... just slip in ...
  20. According to this POST, someone got charged for changing his shirt in the carpark after RT. I suppose if we go strictly by law, the MAJ is right. Having said that, petty people abuse petty powers. Comments / opinions?

  22. The shortage of parking spaces in the city could get even worse with Capitaland considering redeveloping the Golden Shoe Carpark now that its revamp of the former Market Street Carpark is under way. The 10-storey Golden Shoe, in Market Street, a stone's throw from Raffles Place MRT Station, contains 1,053 parking spaces with retail and food outlets on the first three levels. CapitaLand group president and chief executive Liew Mun Leong said it was always the company's intention to redevelop both carparks. 'It's a matter of timing... In 1996, when I was already (chief executive), we already had plans for both carparks. We need the approval of the Government... and then we have to see the timing of the demand for office space.' source: http://www.straitstimes.com/BreakingNews/S...ory_763845.html
  23. Just want to share with you all something that fustrate me today. Was delivering TV today. Make my delivery and exiting the HDB carpark which has barrier. Upon exiting, the cashcard reader got detected and the barrier move up. I was about to drive thru when the barrier came down for no reason! It hit my windscreen of the van. Thank god my windscreen didn't crack. I was stunned for awhile, thinking that I am the one knocking the barrier down. but then I realise that it goes up and comes down again. Feel damn pissed off and drive away. Coz there is nobody there and it not my fault at all. 4hrs later, I finish my work and passby that place. The barrier is up again. Same barrier as the one who crashed on my van. It the same because I saw my tyre mark on the barrier. They use a cable tie and a nut to tie it up. Anyone have similar experience with carpark barrier? Feel free to share!
