  6. Hi , About 6 months ago, I was driving along the center lane of the road, wanted to change lane to right and so i turn on my right turn signal, was checking my side mirror and rear mirror when i saw a motorbike behind me skidded. As im the nearest to him, my passenger & myself decide to alight to help the motorist who fell. He seems fine with some superficial scratches , i offer to call ambulance but he refuse n instead told me to give him money as i was the one who cause him to skid, clearly he was speeding behind me from the upstream traffic junction, i don't mind giving him money if he need help but then he is falsely accusing me of causing him to skid when all i did is on the right turn signal. So i refuse n instead told him to seek medical help to check his wound. A passerby call the traffic police who came but did not do any traffic report as there is no contact between the vehicle and the motorist also rode his bike away after failing to get money from me. I was advise to make a report at my insurance workshop within 24 hr to protect myself in case the motorist claim my insurance, which i did, workshop take note that there is no contact after detail inspection. As predicted, the motorist did file an insurance claim. But due to insufficient evidence , the claim have yet to get through. 2-3 months later, i got a summon from traffic police who also ibform me that the motorist got a 7 days mc n hence it have become a injury case. 4 months later, i got a notice for traffic offence- careless driving , change lane abruptly which result in collision !! This is a total lie !!!! So i appeal by writing to TP but to no avail, 2 weeks after appeal TP inform me they have sufficient evidence to summon me ??! 1) there is no contact , how to have collision? 2) i haven't even change lane . Really saddened by this , where is justice !! Wat shd i do ? Fo rce to be admit to a offence i never did ?! , by twisting the fact so easily by the motorist, we r encouraging irresponsible behaviour, which make driving on the road more dangerous , the traffic laws have fail then.

  8. Let's say you've involved in an accident with another vehicle, and both of you have settled the claim through insurance. Question is, how do you know that the case has been closed? ie. case closed and both parties will never be able to pursue further claims in the future?
  9. In today's ST: COE prices set to soar even higher. Ho say liao, for those who already bought new car, or renewed COE car. Others LLST till next year and continue to hope. Worst case: 43% drop in overall COE supply. Worst case: 65% shrinkage in Cat A COE supply. Cat A COE projected to hit high $80,000 later this year. Outcome: - more Mercedes Benz and BMWs sold - continue to top charts - C180K top Cat A seller, death of all other Cat A car sales - rich will continue to upgrade and/or buy even more Cat B/E cars Orbi good!
  10. A 35-metre (115-foot) tsunami could hit the Japanese coast in the wake of a massive earthquake, an expert panel has said after revising its worst case scenario projections following last year's disaster. If a 9.0-magnitude quake struck in the Nankai Trough off central to western Japan huge swathes of the Pacific coastline could be inundated, with 20-metre-plus waves hitting areas from Tokyo down to the southwestern island of Kyushu. At the town of Kuroshio in southwestern Kochi prefecture the tsunami could reach 34.4 metres -- the highest level projected under the scenario, the Cabinet Office panel said late Saturday. And at the now offline Hamaoka nuclear plant in central Shizuoka prefecture, the tsunami could be as high as 21 metres, breaching the 18-metre breakwater that operators are currently constructing, the panel said. In its previous projection in 2003 the panel gave a worst case scenario in which no areas would be hit by a tsunami of more than 20 metres. But the panel has upgraded its predictions in the wake of the 9.0-magnitude earthquake on March 11 last year that sent a tsunami barrelling into the northeast, killing some 19,000 people and devastating the coastline. Waves of more than 15 metres hit cities including Ishinomaki, Soma, and Ofunato. The monster tsunami crippled cooling systems at the Fukushima nuclear power plant, sparking a crisis which is still ongoing. The panel noted that the projection was for "the worst possible tsunami" and the "chance of its occurrence is extremely low". It said it will continue studying the extent of areas that could be hit and submerged by a tsunami, while the government will examine its emergency disaster measures based on the latest estimation. 18. From STOMP: http://singaporeseen.stomp.com.sg/stomp/sg...fronts_man.html Posted on 09 Nov 2011 Driver swerves into lane and confronts man -- just because he was 'high-beamed' The Honda Fit driver swerved dangerously into STOMPer vkfbdriver's path and angrily confronted him, just because the latter had flashed his headlights at him earlier. The STOMPer described the incident: "A reckless and inconsiderate young driver did not signal when changing lanes. "I high-beamed him once to warn him, but he jammed on his brakes. "I overtook him in order not to get into any accident, but he tried to create another incident again. "Luckily, I managed to brake in time. "He continued straight on after this, showing that he had deliberately cut into my lane just to stop me. "This happened on Nov 6, at about 2pm along Woodlands Avenue 12 just before junction turning into Woodlands Avenue 1." *** Check out the embedded video at the end of web page which recorded how the incident started...
  19. Maybe he should have written to our dear MND Minister for help since he is the anchor in Sembawang GRC... From STOMP: http://singaporeseen.stomp.com.sg/stomp/sg...len_branch.html Posted on 11 Nov 2011 Car hit by fallen branch: TC's contractor refuses to pay because it's 'act of God' STOMPer Super's car was damaged by a fallen branch, but the contractor responsible for maintaining the trees in Woodlands Drive has refused to pay, claiming that the incident was an 'act of God'. The STOMPer said: "This incident happened in April 2011. "I parked my car at the unloading/loading bay in front of my block in Woodlands Drive to fetch my son from school. "I returned with my son to see horrible damages to my Honda Civic. "The windscreen and many parts of my car was hit by the fallen tree branches. "After so many months of my insurer trying to claim from Sembawang Town Council's main contractor for the maintenance of trees, their insurer has refused to pay. "As a result, my no-claim discount decreased from 50% to 20%. "What is this? They even told me this was an 'act of God'. "It was not even raining or there was no strong winds that day. "After the incident, the trees around the area were trimmed. "If nothing had happened, they wouldn't have trimmed the trees. "Imagine if the branches had hit my son, what will happen then?"
  20. Suspected hit & run case, this time at a Jurong West carpark. Not sure if there is any recourse for the owners... From STOMP: http://singaporeseen.stomp.com.sg/stomp/sg...parked_car.html Posted on 06 Nov 2011 Look what hit-and-run driver did to parked vehicles at Jurong West carpark STOMPer Jasline is convinced this is the aftermath of a hit-and-run incident. She reported the damaged vehicles to the police in the hope the culprit will get caught soon. The STOMPer describes the situation: "While collecting our car we saw a horrendous sight - two parked vehicles had been hit in a carpark. "We made a police report immediately as it was definitely a hit and run. "The impact was quite great as most likely the driver must haven been driving very fast. "I wonder how the owners are going to find the culprit and claim the damages from them."
  21. The fact - Nissan Latio was in the wrong eating into the driver's lane while making a turn. Discussion - Can this be avoided?? I have no control over Latio's poor driving skills, but i have full control of my own vehicle. Moreover, coming from way behind Latio and accelerate into the turn, the Latio may not even have noticed the driver presence. But personally, I will try best never to turn side by side with another vehicle in everyday driving - defensive driving 101.
  22. One was the senior. The other the junior. But the two men behaved less like superior and subordinate and more like comrades-in-crime. During the period when Koh Seah Wee, 41, and Lim Chai Meng, 38, worked together to defraud their employer, the Singapore Land Authority (SLA), they were so close they even went to a property viewing together to decide on whether to invest some of their ill-gotten gains in a condominium apartment each. Koh was then a deputy director and Lim a manager in the statutory board's information technology department. RELATED STORIES * Former SLA officers plead guilty in $12m fraud case * Ex-SLA exec accused of cheating Supreme Court * Duo allegedly cheat SLA of $11.8m * Lamborghini in SLA cheating case sold * 2 SLA officers on probe for $11.8m fraud Yesterday, Koh pleaded guilty to 46 cheating charges and nine money laundering charges involving the SLA and the Intellectual Property Office of Singapore (Ipos). He admitted to another 317 similar charges, which will be taken into consideration during sentencing. Lim pleaded guilty to 40 counts of conspiring to cheat the SLA, one count of cheating a finance company and eight counts of money laundering. He also admitted to another 260 similar charges, which will be taken into consideration during sentencing. They might have been close when defrauding their employer, but yesterday, it was clear in court that the duo were no longer chums. Even though they sat less than a metre apart, they barely glanced at each other. Instead, they left it to their lawyers - Mr Ravinderpal Singh for Koh; Mr Subhas Anandan and Mr Sunil Sudheesan for Lim - to push the blame around. The court heard that Koh and Lim, together with seven other accomplices, bled the SLA of about $12.2 million more than two years. Of that amount, about 15 per cent ($1.87 million) went to Lim while more than 70 per cent or ($8.54 million) went to Koh, said Lim's lawyers, Mr Subhas Anandan and Mr Sunil Sudheesan. The remainder was channelled to the other accomplices in the conspiracy. Two have since been jailed. http://news.asiaone.com/News/AsiaOne%2BNew...030-307747.html
  23. Was having dinner with some relatives just now and an aunt ask me a question - A friend of hers asked to partner with her to takeover a beauty business so she agreed and passed about $30k to the friend. It's her friends so no agreement has been signed since the takeover is not finalized yet. But part of the money was transferred by bank to that friend so got proof she passed money to her. Now that the takeover date is near, that friend seems to be avoiding her, like not answer her call or messages and have no updates on the situation. So she asked me, if the partner disappeared with the money, is this a case of fraud or will the police ask her to find a lawyer instead? She afraid of these kind of legal stuff (I guess everyone is). Any advise from bros here?
