  2. Hi my car air con gas has been leaking and today finally decided to repair it once and for all. I went to a air con work shop at circuit road and was quoted $1200 to replace both the cooling coil and condenser. It is my first time repairing aircon and I was shocked by the price quoted. May I know if this is the industry market place or am I overly paying over the odds? My drive is a Peugeot 308. Look forward to more inputs and sharing of the repair cost by fellow bros. Thanks
  3. I changed car battery yesterday night and realised that my radio frequency and all others HU setting had been reset. so just wana check with you guys is this the norm? or something had not been done correctly?
  4. I suspect my my fan spoil due to overspray of belt dressing which cause fiction and became misaligned. Currently the fan is not working well and make lots of noise.... so anyone knows or change radiator fan b4?? How much is the price for both brand new and second hand radiator fan??
  5. Due to change in lifestyle (change of workplace and shifts, wife giving birth, need to send wife n baby to&fro to parents house, etc),would it be advisable if I were to convert my 5yr old OPC honda airwave or to change to a 2nd hand normal plate car? If i were to convert,it would cost me around 7k. I have yet go to 2nd hand dealers to check out the market. Brand new is totally out of range as COE right now is . my car condition is running fine with no problems. Can any experienced bros here give their valued advice? So if change to normal plate, will I get a pro rated PARF when i scrap..? Many thks in advance for your kind honest advice.
  6. I've been encountering this problem ever since I started driving here in march. When I want to change lane, mostly because I want to exit from the highway or when I want to make a turn soon, I noticed majority of the behind car on the lane I want to enter would be either simply bo chap and driving as if I don't exist of worse, step on the gas to close in to stop me from entering... What's the problem? Macam like I'm going to outrage their modesty.... Is it so hard to slow down to let ppl enter the lane. I can understand in the case where there is a queue, some car just want to cut queue, that I will be tulan too. What I'm talking about is usual driving speed. Also, I don't mean those sudden "makan" into ppl's lane.
  7. can we change our ins company mid-way thru the term for the same car ? coz i just bought a used car and the dealer insist on doing the ins .... and it cost almost $400 more than my current car. (dun think too much ... almost same type of car) i told them i wanted to ask my current insurer to quote but they say cannot. so can i take what they get for me and then maybe 2 months down, switch another insurer ?
  8. I find that my car brake is not very sensitive. My car workshop advise me to change the brake pad and also to skim the rotors. I was told that the time to change the brake pad will be when the brake give out a hissing sound when you pressed on the brake. This is because there is a inbuilt strip within the brake pad which will make a hissing sound when it had been worn down to a certain thickness. Otherwise, it is not necessary to change. Is this true? Some people also claimed that we should never skim the rotors. May i know the reason why? My workshop claim that by skimming the rotors, it make the rotors more even, resulting in better grip when the brake pad pressed on the rotors. Is this true?
  9. Hi all, can you guys rec me a tyre to change? My size is 195/55/15. I am basically looking for 1) comfort(low noise) - priority as i do not speed much. mostly drive slowly. 2) grip(wet/dry) - above average to good grip would be nice. 3) price - preferably below $100/tyre. thanks all in advance!
  10. Hi Need to ask where can I change the gear box (auto) light bulb - that indicates which gear I am in. Though the Altis dash board has an indicator light, if it is cheap and simple, would want to change the bulb at the gear box as I usually looked at it when changing gear. The technical guy at my workshop has ascertained it is not a fuse issue but said he is not skilful to removing some panels. Thanks in advance for the place and estimated pricing. Cheers
  11. I am wondering if there is a lot of difference if changing the height of the side wall will affect the speedo or the performance of the car? any gurus to advise?

  13. Hi bros, Sharing simple DIY you can do on your own for changing of manual transmission/gear oil This is not my car but i find the pictures taken is much clearer than mine so i uses it. steps 1) Find out the type of oil you need and buy it. My car uses 75w90 oil and need 2L. It is better to use fully synthetic oil as it last longer. But I myself uses 80W90 castrol MTF. 2) Get ready some spanner, usually the bots uses 24mm 3) Unscrew the wheels 4) jack up the car and remove the wheel 5) Get ready a container to collect the used oil 6) The top screw is for topping up the oil and the below screw is for draining Unscrew the top then the below. 7) Let the oil drain out. 8) clean the bots that u unscrewed. 9) Find a used bottle, cut off the top and attached a tube for filling up the oil any method is ok as long u can use a tube to fill up the oil 10) After the oil finished draining, screw back the bottom screw. connect the tube to the top hole 11) start pouring in the oil, once it is done, take out the hose and screw back. *usually oil will start dripping out from the top hole once u hit the require amount of oil needed. * I used a pump to pump in the Manual transmission fluid, much faster. It cost me $16 for the 2 bottle of 1L castrol MTF, my car use about 2.1L of oil but it is ok. Cheap and simple. Just a little time needed for the DIY
