  4. Never thought i'd be posting this, but my girlfriend was involved in an accident, she's ok, a few bumps and bruises. The car pretty much gave itself up for her. It was a right turn arrow in her favor and other cars on the opposite side had already stopped, so she made the right, and at this time, a Toyota rush ran the red light and smashed into her car. Unfortunately, we did not have a DVR in the car, so this complicates matters. So here's the appeal to anyone who might have been in one of those stopped vehicles to be a witness and help us out. location map: https://maps.google.com.sg/maps?q=changi+bu...12,6.08,,0,3.54 Happened at: 1230pm, 11 Sept. as for the car.. i'd rather not talk about it...
  5. Hi guys I'm currently based overseas and would like to ask whether the Changi Motorsports Hub development is still in progress.. have lost track of sg news already. From what I read last year the project was terminated because of some financial issues and they are looking for potential investors to takeover the project. Anyone know of any updates regarding this project? Cheers
  6. Just now on way home from Woodlands towards East, was driving along BKE.. no cars around so happily clear carbon.. drove around 150km/hr at the stretch of BKE towards PIE changi where there's a stationery speed cam. Noticed that there are no flash from the cam n also cam facing the opposite direction of BKE towards woodlands. Questions: 1. No flash means no record? Since its already dark as its 1am? 2. Is that cam capturing 1 direction which is BKE woodlands only? 3. What's penalty for speeding above 60km/hr on a 90km/hr expressway? 4. How long will letter appear? Before I'm being lecture for speeding.. I hereby apologise first.. no ill intention, not racing or trying funny stunts.. just driving faster to clear some accumulated carbon
  7. Every morning for the past 2 months, when I drove past the road opposite Citibank, I will see a white impreza parked on the side road on double yellow line and the driver will always not be around. I am curious did he park there the whole day or since last night? Thou not very heavy traffic,, but being a 2 lane road and this car is blocking one of the lane, I find it quite inconsiderate. Anyone notice this car as well?
  8. Was driving back home via PIE. lane 1 was very clear. Driving speed around 100~105kmh. Saw a single headlight behind me, must be a motorcycle. It was riding so fast and quite close to me, so I thought he wants to overtake me so I filter to 2nd lane. So dangerous for motor riding so fast at lane one. To my suprise, when he overtook me, I then found out it was TP bike. Heng he never stop me. When he behind me following me closely, I got the intention to drive faster. Luckily I filter. Once he passed me, I filter back to lane 1. From my speedo, can tell they riding at 130kmh> don't know rushing for what.

  14. I think this is an example of poor planning and waste of resources and tax money. SINGAPORE: Airlines operating from Singapore's Budget Terminal will soon operate from the main terminals at Changi Airport. That's because the Budget Terminal will be closed later this year to make way for a new and improved terminal. Travelling the no-frills way has become more popular. Last year, one in four passengers at Changi Airport travelled on a low-cost carrier (LCC), compared to about one in five in 2010. In fact, low-cost carriers accounted for 28.6 percent of all flights at Changi Airport. And the outlook is bright. Mr Shukor Yusof, Aviation Analyst at Standard & Poor's, said: "Our understanding is that there are moves to review the operations at the Budget Terminal because of the increasing traffic, because of the expectation that there will be more and more budget airlines that will ply into Singapore. "I think there is no chronic shortage of facilities or any acute problems that we are having at the LCCT (low-cost carrier terminal). The numbers are increasing so fast that I think in the next few years, issues concerning the comfort of passengers, the issue of more aircraft, if you look at the budget airlines in the region, everyone is buying new aircraft, every single one of them are expanding. So within the next three to four to five years, you will have more aircraft, more passengers. "Indeed, more passengers are flying to Singapore by budget airline, so what we have today in Changi in terms of the Budget Terminal, is good for now. But within the next few years, it would struggle to cope with the numbers." Opened in 2006, the Budget Terminal can handle up to seven million passengers annually. And sources say the authorities are now looking at building a new terminal to cater to future demand. Many workers at the Budget Terminal are aware of the impending closure. Shop owners have also been informed and some say it's no surprise, as the lease for most concessions there will expire in a few months. The Budget Terminal currently serves Berjaya Air, Firefly, SEair, Cebu Pacific and Tiger Airways. MediaCorp understands the decision to move the carriers to the main terminals was reached a few weeks ago. It is understood that Tiger Airways will operate from Terminal 2, possibly by June. Provisions have been made for them to operate from Row 12 near to Singapore Airlines, Silk Air and the new Scoot airline. Berjaya Air and SEAir will also operate from Terminal 2, with Berjaya making the shift as early as April. When contacted, Firefly says it is aware of the move, but declined to give details. Analysts say the expected change should benefit carriers and passengers. Mr Shukor said: "I think it is going to be quite good for these carriers because that would mean seamless connectivity for passengers who want to hop onto another carrier at Terminal 2. "In terms of people who are flying from Australia onwards to Europe, for example, instead of being transported from the LCCT to Terminal 2, they can just walk a short distance and go onto the next flight and that's clearly an advantage for Tiger." Observers say when the budget carriers begin operations from the main terminals, they could be faced with higher costs. But it is understood that authorities are working on a special arrangement with the airlines to help them address the issue. Changes have also been made to aero-bridges at Terminal 2 to accommodate the additional flights. Observers say it should not take more than two years for the new terminal to be ready. - CNA/de
  15. Woman sues over fall at Changi Airport By Amanda Yong, The New Paper | Fri, Jan 20 2012 She was walking towards the airport departure gate to board a flight to Hong Kong when she said she stepped on a loose carpet slab and fell. Ms Stephanie Costonis, an American citizen, suffered injuries to her neck, right wrist, right knee and ankle. Since the incident at Changi Airport Terminal 3 three years ago, she spent more than $125,000 on medical treatment - including knee surgery - alone, she claimed in documents filed with the High Court. Ms Costonis, the vice-president of DHL Express (Singapore), is now suing the Changi Airport Group (CAG) for negligence. Through her lawyer S. Palaniappan, she is seeking compensation of $128,000 for medical expenses, physiotherapy treatment and transport expenses incurred as a result of her injuries. She is also asking for damages for future medical expenses estimated at $141,000, loss of future earnings, loss of earning capacity, and future transport expenses. Apart from these, Ms Costonis is claiming provisional damages till the year 2026 in the event that her knee condition deteriorates and requires additional operations. 16. The Singapore Sports Council (SSC) announced on Monday it has terminated its agreement with private firm SG Changi to build the proposed Changi Motorsports Hub. SSC's chief executive officer Lim Teck Yin told reporters at a media briefing that the SSC found it would be "difficult for the project to succeed". The consortium was awarded the tender to build the hub in March last year but faced difficulties raising the estimated $380 million needed. Construction for the hub, which was to be completed by the end of the year, was halted in January. The SSC gave the termination notice to SG Changi last Wednesday. Lim said that he will personally lead an SSC inquiry into the process of the motorsports hub project and has commenced a full post-mortem. He added that for the remainder of this year, the SSC and SG Changi will work out a mutual termination agreement, with the terms to be finalised by the end of this month. He declined comment on whether a new tender will be opened for the project but noted that the SSC will need to put out a public request for information to assess market interest in taking up the building of the hub. The hub was planned to include a 3.5km race track, a 1.2km karting track and a 20,000-capacity spectator gallery, alongside a museum and a racing academy. YAHOO
