  1. Which would you prefer to be? PR or citizen? Is there any advantage in being Singapore citizen over PR and FT? I am SG citizen btw, have done NS.
  2. Hi all.. just conducting a sort of market research or survey on the most popular car choice for modifications. i.e which model's car owners are most likely to modify their cars or purchase aftermarket parts. Please note that modifications are limited to performance (engine, exhaust, brakes, handling, etc), and will exclude exterior (bodykits, lights, interior, ICE, etc) for now. Apologies if your car model is not indicated here.. but feel free to post your car below. The list was what i could think of on the types of cars in SG (hence not in any order also.. haha) Have a nice day
  3. another wtf article... who was actually surveyed.. how did they conduct the survey?? according to the article..72% of sg employees would be happier working two years past the official retirement age without any additional financial benefit.. funny thing is none of my colleagues felt this way... so i guess we belong to the other 28% of singaporeans http://www.channelnewsasia.com/stories/sin...1136425/1/.html Most S'poreans want to work past retirement age: survey By Jonathan Peeris | Posted: 21 June 2011 2254 hrs SINGAPORE : Singaporean employees want to work past the retirement age and upgrade their skills, according to the latest Randstad Workmonitor survey released on Tuesday. It found that 72 per cent of Singaporean employees would be happier working two years past the official retirement age without any additional financial benefits. The survey also showed that 66 per cent of Singapore employees interviewed said their career now demands more education and training than ever before, while more than a third said they felt their current job was beyond their current abilities. Interestingly, four out of ten people surveyed would prefer a position with more responsibility, even if there was no increase in salary. The survey also indicated a high level of confidence among employees, with 61 per cent believing recruitment of good talent had been increasing since the financial crisis and 65 per cent believing their companies were in a good position to hire well-qualified staff. The findings also indicated a four per cent rise in employee satisfaction to 61 per cent among Singapore employees since its last quarterly release. However, 74 per cent felt that more people would leave to work abroad in the future. Randstad regional director for Singapore and Malaysia, Karin Clarke, said this highlighted the priority for employers to focus on strong talent retention and attraction strategies. The research surveyed 405 Singaporeans from May 2 to 13, as part of a global quarterly survey of 13,565 employees, which tracks employee confidence, mobility, job satisfaction and personal motivation. - CNA/al
  4. Hi all, As this comIng GE affects deeply the fate of us Pasirans, given that our beloved Mr. Chiam is moving on for a greater cause, I urge all residents in Potong Pasir (PP) SMC eligible to vote in this coming GE to indicate your choice via this poll. Like another bro who earlier created a poll for Aljunied GRC, I also humbly hope for your cooperation that only eligible PP residents indicate their choice. Of course comments are welcome from everybody. Thank you.

  8. Link Cleopatra, Cixi wrong choice as iconic women MEDIACORP is currently promoting its Singapore Women's Month through regular television and radio spots. The four iconic women it has chosen to front the promotion include Queen Cleopatra of Egypt and Empress Dowager Cixi of China (Mother Teresa and US aviation pioneer Amelia Earhart are the other two). To state that Cleopatra saved Egypt with her beauty is as sexist as it is absurd. One might just as well say that Pocahontas saved the American Indians with her naivete. Cleopatra indeed seduced Julius Caesar with her feminine charms but in her historic role, she was proven more a political player with obvious self-advancing motives than a self-sacrificing saviour of her kingdom. After Caesar's assassination, her charms were next applied on Mark Antony whom she dropped just as quickly when fate instead favoured Octavian. Ancient Egypt thus became a Roman province and she ended the line of pharaohs when she finally sought the company of an asp. More ludicrous is the assertion that Cixi ruled China with her strength (and wisdom in the Chinese spots). Even after one discounts her commonly perceived traits of cruelty, selfishness, corruption and debauchery, Cixi's rule did little to advance the imperial fate of China. Endowed with an 'arsenic' will to stay in power, Cixi schemed extensively to be the de facto force in the Qing court, out-manoeuvring ministers, princes and even emperors. Her penchant for luxury had her building lavish palaces at a time when China was on the brink of bankruptcy and the population was living in abject poverty. She actively squashed all manner of Western reforms when they were most needed, and with little grasp of the gravity of China's gross inadequacy during the colonial era, she even threw in her weight behind the ill-fated Boxer Rebellion, to drastic consequences. Having pulverised all prospects of restoration for the Qing, she departed with just a tot (the toddler Puyi) in station, setting the scene for the final stage of dynastic destruction that would let loose decades of civil strife and suffering in China. Iconic these women may be, but I believe we have others in human history to select from for better representation. The sentiments may be right but the facts and presentation are plainly wrong. 9. Ponder over this one. Its not that simple. There must be meaning to our existence. Usually the one that we love give us the reason to linger on and give meaning and happiness to our lives....
  10. Whether or not she is paying for part of the instalment or not is not the point, but how much did she influence your decision on the car you are driving now? or your previous ride(s)?? Before the purchase my wifey will usually say something when I ask her for opinion .... but so far what I have bought were not always the exact models she prefered, but also not what she opposed..... except the OPC she uses now which is her first choice..... (so everytime she's angry with me over other matters, I will use the OPC as a shield, kekekekeee.....)

  14. Hi all Need some recommendations from you guys. I have tried looking at peninsula, queensway, could not find a decent pair of soccer boots. I'm just a casual farrer park player, and my last two pairs, Umbros, each only lasted bout 3-4 months before the soles gave way. Can I have recommendations for a good yet decently priced pair of soccer boots and where to get them? My budget's hopefully below 100 for this new pair. But if the recommendation is about a pair of really good, long lasting pair, I would not mind spending a little more. Thanks!
  15. What do you bros think? Saw that they are so responsible even covering wty for PI mazdas. Not to mention they gave even bigger discounts than BM and delivered! incredible
  16. Hiya All, I had created a thread on enrolling your child to a top primary school and had gotten quite mixed responses. 2 School of thoughs.... (a) A top primary school has the right environment and culture to nuture the kid in a competitive world, alongside with competitive and outstanding peers (i.e. mix with the 'right crowd'). (b) Your average primary school is good enough...why stress the kid and make his/her childhood miserable? Can means can...cannot means cannot...don't push the kid too hard and let nature takes its course... What say you?
  17. Recently my fren complain to me the distance and time he needs to travel to his new workplace, from Serangoon North to Pandan Road. He was retrenched two mths back and found a new job in a job fair after numerous applications. He is in his mid-40s. His previous work place was in Loyang and travel to work using CTE-TPE. New job is at Pandan and he uses CTE-AYE to get to work. He complain to me that he needs at least 1.5 - 2hrs to get back home daily thus reaching home sometimes 8+pm which he felt not worth it + need to pay ERP. He thinking of quiting due to the travelling time and look for another job near his place. I stay in the north and work in the south, to me, travel time of 1 to 1.5hrs is normal. I told him to tahan 1st as this is his new job after being retrenched and the economy is not doing so well. But not sure how long more he can tahan.
  18. The game of choice for unemployed people or maintenance level workers is basketball. The game of choice for frontline workers is football. The game of choice for middle management is tennis. The game of choice for CEOs and executives is golf. Conclusion: The higher up on the corporate ladder you are, the smaller your balls are.

  21. Just applied for this card and received it. Main purpose of getting this card was for buying cheaper GV movie tickets. I have 2 questions 1) Is the 5% discount at Caltex station given upfront? 2) For the Choice card, when you make a payment at selected store, do you give the cashier the Choice card only or is it together with the credit card? Thanks
  22. Can ya all bros gimme a helping hand in choosing?? tHanks!
  23. 1. Hi all, please see these pics: 2. These pics were taken from Taiwan Auto Driver Magazine in car review. 3. 1st of all, which is your choice of a dashboard design? 4. Then, I've some questions : a) Do you know which one has the most "plasticky" feel in this review? b) Which has the best design and feel in term of assembly and material used? c) Which one the highest equipment level (subjective because we've stripped down version in SG)? Thank you for voting. Regards,
  24. 1. Whether it is Value for money to the rich ones or just simply your favourite premium brand, tell us why you vote for it? 2. IMHO, the Two Bs (BMW and Benz) are certainly very successful global premium brands, what do you think that make them more successful than the rest? 3. Jaguar has been taken over by TATA, do you think it will diminish its brand appeal? 4. Why do people think safey, think Volvo? Are we saying the safety features of the rest are not as good as Volvo? 5. Saab has recently won the car of the year 08 by car buyers' guide. Do you think it has what it takes to beat the rest in term of popularity? 6. Audi, probably one that produced an A4 2.0L with just 130bhp. Do you think its new TC A4 will prove us wrong? Thank you very much. Regards,
