  1. NOW, THIS IS A REAL POLL GENTLEMANS, START YOUR ENGINES!
  2. With the new Honda Accord 2008, what would be your choice for a family sedan? My personal favourite is Accord, but at sub-100K price, it lacks keyless entry and the buttons-full interior is a minus. Camry is too common on the road and now also used as a taxi. one plus point is CNG option for JDM model carried by PI. Nissan Cefiro is my last choice due to its poor FC, and ah-pek outlook.
  3. Hi Guys, 1. I'm sure you have something in mind that you have either positive experience or perception on a particular brand and model when come to a value for money 17" Ultra High Performance (UHP) tyre. 2. So far I've gathered that Goodyear Eagle F1 remain a popular choice in local market as a UHP due not only of its price tag but also its consistently good review in car magazines and tire centric websites. 3. So come share your experience and the cost. Thank you very much. Regards,
  4. As title suggested Too many models, so no polls.
  5. 1. Just back from Penang and feel like I need a more comfortable car. 2. So, I went test driving in the late afternoon and tested the Chervolet inline 6 Epica. Very smooth engine, no noise from 0-100Km/h. The interior is much more refined than Sonata and Magentis. At 78K, it is priced lower than the Civic VTI-S. It is not a big car, having the same wheelbase size as the Civic. Don't like the steering, which the SE told me will stiffen progressively at high speed. What can you expect? they even have electrically controlled driver seat and the mirror auto adjusted when reverse parking. 3. Then I stepped into KM, and tried the Stream and VTI-S(2008 version). Both within my budget and the price are priced neck to neck with each other. l like the furturistic dashboard design and it is clearly a driver's car than Stream. Now the challenge is space. VTI-S doesn't have the space that my daughter requires, she found the 3rd row of Stream comfortable for a nap. Since I drive to the North often, I wonder if a MPV makes better sense? This stream also funny one, no armrest nor center console for the driver, how thoughtful! 4. The wife likes the VTI-S as it feel more upmarket and just as comfortable. I like the sunroof that comes with Stream. Performance wise, both are about the same so it is a hard decision to make too. New Accord will be priced around 90+ range and I doubt I want to pay so much. 2.0SI according SE is more performance based and is only 3K+ difference. Stream has ready stock but Civic may not be available before CNY. 5. Would like to hear from Bros, who are driving Stream and VTI-S, the plus and minus of these 2 cars. If you have other recommendation at this price range, do let me know. Thank you very much. Regards,
  6. Hi all, 1. Both are categorized as Ultra High Performance Tyres. For 225/45R17, KU31 is 320-A-A, Y Spec, Load 94 and K105 is 320-A-A, Z Spec, Load 94. 2. Which is a better pick in term of the followings: a) Dry b) Wet c) Handling d) Comfort e) Noise f) Tread Wear g) Price Please comment and advise. Thank you very much. Regards,
  7. Hi all, 1. Which would be your choice after the comparsion of the following items based on stock condition: a) Engine Performance b) Handling c) Cabin Equipment Level d) Spaciousness and comfort e) Cabin Noise Level f) Safety Features g) Fuel Economy 2. Please feel free to comment on your choice too. Thank you very much. Regards,
  8. 1. With the new Ford Mondeo selling slightly above 100k, It is beyond what I would want to pay for a car in SG. 2. I think Epica in-line 6, 2.0L, 5AT seems to be a better buy at around 80K. When I look around in the local new car market, there aren't many in-line 6 around. You usually find them in the BMWs. 3. When I look at the Epica, it is amusing how they can squeeze in an inline 6 to a budget sedan at that price. It seems rather simple though with that pair of "eagle" eyes. Anyway, going down for a test drive later. Anyone have driven one or owe one, please feedback. Thank you. Regards,
  9. 1. Which do you think is the best value for money hotel for deluxe room or larger? 2. Which one has the best and more secure parking area? Comments please. Thank you very much. Regards,
  10. Hi, all, I might need to get a car urgently for work. It's 5-day week job. Am hoping not to get caught in a situation where if I have to sell/scrap the car after a short period, in which case the sale price will be much lower, making my depreciation very steep. I've been thinking of getting an old car with abt a year to go before their COE expires, or just get one of those small china (cheap) new car. technology-wise, i think even the korean or chinese small new cars are much better than those very old cars with a year or two of COE left (some 8-9 yr, some 18-19 yr). I like auto gear too... and am not looking at taking loan (that's why want cheap car...) any one has any advice pls?

  14. since FC is not so important for OPC, will Matrix be a good choice? Saw some 1-2 years Matrix selling at 20-25K, worth a try?
  15. Hi All, Time to changed my tyre soon, was reading a lot in VOGS and MCF and getting more and mre confuse cos there are too many choices around.... My budget is around $80~$90 per tyre, looking for e15", either 195/50 or 195/55. As these are low profile tyre, I dont expect much on the comfort and noise level... As long as the wet & dry grip is good, thats good enough. The wear rate, on the other hand, should not be smothing like Falken ST1115... simply wear out TOOOOOOOOOOOO... fast! After reading thru the posts, my choice is narrowed to these few tyres: 1)Dunlop Direzza DZ101- 195/50-15 2)Goodyear Eagle F1
  16. Hi guys, a difficult choice nowadays, what would it be yours? considering cost of ownership, aftersales support and spare parts availability etc....

  20. Hi all, A small poll for all to gauge the interest level in the FL Superbs equipped with manual transmission. In Europe, the 5 speed manual option is on average EUR2500 cheaper than the 5 speed automatic option. Besides the upfront savings in car price, expect a clear advantage in fuel consumption and performance of the manual over the automatic versions. Hopefully the result of this poll will be taken into consideration when CA places the indent for the FL Superb. 21. Hi Bros, Looking at changing tyres soon, any good choice 205/55R15 tyres to recommend? Looking at performance tyres with less road noise and W speed rating. Thank you. Regards,
  22. Hi, which tyre would you pick for this particular size 195/60/R15.? Why would you recommend this tyre? Thanks for your contributions. I did a search but most good tyres like DZ101 and others do not come in this particular size and this is the only option.

    Tyre choice

Got a couple of private messages on this and hope to share here on Tyre choice, not a person on choices but more of a balance of the followings; a. Quietness b. Rides c. Handling d. dry and wet handling performance e. Durability f. Rating. g. Type of threads h. Cost i. Tyre and rim size know your needs...quietness, generally will give way to durability and wet handling. To have a all rounder, then cost should not be a concern. Rating will determine the max speed you will be driving, and note that it needs to have some heat before it is operating optimumly and also during the wet, if you are driving too slowly, it might not be working as well as a higher speed. Eg. a V-rating works better at 60kmh then 40Kmh, based on my own personal experience. Type of threads - the kind of road, mostly driven on. Presently, running on Bridgestones GR 80, very quiet and nicer ride but lack the handling of the Continental in dry and wet. As for continental, it is less competitive but very noisy, durable and great handling during dry and wet.
  24. Hi guys, Just curious about what you guys would prefer. Cheers..
  25. Hi guys, There are some prospective Polo buyers in MCF who have preference for the manual version. Currently Cars & Cars does not bring in the manual version. For those who have enquired the SEs from Cars & Cars, I am sure that you have been told that there is no plans to bring in the manual Polo at the moment. With this poll, we aim to derive a good estimate on the demand for manual Polos. Hopefully if the number is sizeable, VW Asia Pacific will be prompted to bring the manual Polos in.
