As everyone should know, today, 9th of July 2020 is the cooling off day for GE2020 and it so happened that the weather is pretty cool after the morning downpour. That said, things were not so cool for these two Private Hire drivers yesterday. As seen on Sg Road Vigilante, a video of two PHV drivers turning the heat up (for the wrong reasons) has been spotted. No one knows what they they were fighting for but we can almost safely assume it is due to one of them not giving way to the other or something similar like that at this NEX taxi stand in Serangoon. It then seemed like a causally-dressed (weird) taxi driver tried to stop them. Kudos for him. What really amused us was the replies in the comments section. Check them out!

A Gojek passenger has shared on Facebook that a driver kicked him out when he realised that he was not getting a tip from his passenger! Joseph Lam, the Facebook user who encountered this bizarre incident recounted this incident in which he had touched down at Changi Terminal 1 and human traffic was heavy at the airport. Naturally, that lead to a surge in prices of private hire services. Happily after 10 minutes, he managed to get a driver with Gojek for $14 that was headed towards Tampines Street 34. Upon getting in the car, Mr. Lam felt that something was off with the driver. Below is an extract from his Facebook post. Driver: 3 persons travelling? Us: Yes *light laughter* Driver: Welcome back to Singapore Us: Thank you Driver: Does that entitles me to a tip? Us: Awkward laughter Me: I can give you 5 stars rating Driver: 5 stars rating is of no use for Gojek, useful for Grab though Us: Well, different platform, sorry to hear about that. Driver: Grab surge is $21 for a trip to Tampines now, so it will be nice if you can leave me a tip. Do you mind? Normally I will suggest my clients to leave me a tip of $3 if they don’t mind. Do you mind? Following this, Mr. Lam did not answer, choosing to believe that the driver would not mention it again if he was ignored. However, the driver repeated the question and Mr. Lam had no choice but to reply that he minded. Now here's where things started getting serious. Driver: Well ok if you do mind, I guess I will have to drop you at the nearest bus stop. Me: Dude you serious?! Driver: Yes, because I asked if you mind tipping me and you said you mind. So do you mind me dropping you off here at the middle of the road? Me: You f*ing serious right now?! Driver: I don’t want to force you to tip me, so I will drop you off at the nearest drop off point and you can try using grab. The driver then proceeded to drop Mr. Lam and his passenger off at a bus stop near the airport (20 Airport boulevard) after canceling the ride. After all the bags were unloaded, the driver reminded Lam that everything said has been recorded before remarking "Cause I know who really needs a ride now. Good luck my friends! " Naturally, netizens were supportive of Mr. Lam and condemned the driver for flouting LTA's Private Hire rules. For those who are wondering, there is a rule whereby the termination of a chauffeured private hire car, or requiring a passenger to leave a chauffeured private hire car, without reasonable excuse, before the passenger is conveyed to the destination, can result in a fine of $200 and 5 demerit points. Gojek's Response As of press time, Mr. Lam has responded by stating that Gojek has responded as his post has gone viral with more than 3,000 shares on Facebook. Gojek has since suspended the driver and has tried to do some form of service recovery but Mr. Lam has refused, claiming that his intention was not to gain anything from this incident but simply warn friends and family of such ridiculous extortion and threats. So what’s the big deal running around the West Coast ? well no.. not where the greater southern waterfront is.. it’s the Pacific West Coast and the PCH aka Pacific Coast Highway A little jaunt from Seattle down to SF with side trips to Olympic National Park and some other nice spots. This journey offers nice B roads, lots of scenery and good food I wanted to try a car which I might consider buying and I wanted a SUV so it came down to the RAV4 or the CHR depending what was available. Both use the same 2.0l with the CVT As fate decided there was only one .. my Black Steed fitted with 18” rims no less. The C-HR is no stranger to us, it’s a ubiquitous PHV in Singapore but here it uses a 2 liter naturally aspirated engine with the same CVT tranny. The car had to take two of us along with luggage and two weeks of shopping, which is no mean feat, I’ll have you know... Thankfully it was up to the task, swallowing four bags, two backpacks and a large box with great aplomb. Sure you need to fold down the seats if you want quick access and the sloping rear hatch doesn’t do its load carrying function any favors. The interior is tighter than a Vezel but for us it was cosy. The front seats wrap nicely around you and it sits a lot lower than the typical SUV. But then again it’s no real mud eating 4x4, more of a hatch on mildly elevated stilts. The interior is typically Toyota with the omnipresent retro clock and the diamond shaped motifs all over. The build is excellent with no rattles, even after 21000 miles of abuse by other renters. It won’t impress those looking for all round soft touch materials but thing look built to last. The cockpit wraps around the driver and controls generally fall into reach easily. The short stubby gear shift is solid but I wished it was longer. No paddle shifters sadly and no HUD. But here stateside you get a full suite of features with CarPlay and a real set of safety features. Lane departure warning, rear side detectors, blind spot detectors, and my favorite: active cruise control. More on that later... Visibility, like space is a bit compromised at the rear, although front visibility is excellent. The upside of such a compact car is that you point and it zips through, parking is easy and your fuel consumption is great. 33.5 mpg great in fact, which is around 14-15 km/l, which helps when the fuel tank is quite small.. You get DRL here with a full LED headlamp package and CarPlay but the stereo is decidedly weak.. it begs for a ICE and speaker overhaul.. Cool CHR logo when you open the door .. The engine has been with us in many iterations and being a naturally aspirated engine it doesn’t give that kick when you take off, but at highway cruising it is more than adequate. It also has enough power for the mountain roads and the CVT pairs well to keep it in the power zone. Furthermore with varying road speeds, frequent gear changes won’t upset or burn out the clutch because there isn’t one ☝️. On the open road you can easily hit high speeds and wind road is ok, allowing you to talk easily. No Lexus silence here, but it’s fine. Tire roar on lousy interstate sections does get fatiguing but they are only intermittent thankfully. But onto that active cruise control... it measures distance and allows the car to adjust speeds accordingly ... very neat and will slow the car down then pick up speed to keep up with the car in front. With car like agility and a lower stance you are encouraged to take corners more aggressively and the chassis is nimble. This car shares the BRZ chassis and it shows.. in winding roads, where road holding matters more than power, you can show larger capacity engine cars a clean pair of heels easily and you can corner 10-20 mph more than the suggested speed on the sign. Throwing it into bends will bring a big smile on your face. I think the 2l is a better match than the 1.2 turbo we have in long distance driving. Lapping up the miles in my Black Steed has been an absolute joy 👍 More on the sights and food soon 😉

Here's what I think is the best part of the thread: The drive was done in the popular Toyota C-HR, what a madman! Thankfully, the U.S-spec C-HR comes as a 2.0-litre which we imagine must be way better for chewing through those long distances than the local 1.2-litre spec car. Hi all, be very honest as my first thread i did not know where to position this thread but posting it here anyway. backstory, my mum drives grab part time and is returning the car to the previous rental company in less than 3 months time ( we signed 1 year ) until now , under coverage, only my mum was able to drive the car under insurance, although i still drove the car with the companies consent , they have told me that there will be next to no coverage or super high excess should anything happen to me or the car while i was driving the car anyone currently, is driving grab gojek tada , rents a car, but the company also covers another young driver (for personal use only) with less than 2 yrs exp?? we are currently looking at vezel / CHR/ ioniq hybrid or regardless what car , there was no topic whatsoever i could find on this topic thanks all !!

Hi Gurus, I am a layman when it comes to car so just want to gather more opinions. My budget, physique and driving habit prompts me to opt for these CUV. I personally dont think there is a need to discuss the appearance of the car because one mans meat is another's poison. So more cross examination about the above cars. :)

TOKYO: Toyota Motor Corp said on Wednesday (Sep 5) it planned to recall around 1.03 million vehicles, including its gasoline-hybrid Prius model, in Japan, North America, Europe and other regions due to an issue with the engine wire harness which can pose a fire risk. Following a domestic recall announcement by Japan's transport ministry, Toyota said that in affected vehicles, the wire harness which connects to the hybrid power control unit can come into contact with the covering at the connection point. If dust accumulates on the wire harness or the cover, the insulation on the wires could wear down over time due to vehicle vibrations. This could cause an electrical short circuit, which could generate heat and lead to a risk of fire, Toyota said. The issue affects vehicles produced in Japan between June 2015 and May 2018, and includes the plug-in version of the Prius and the C-HR compact crossover SUV sold in Japan, Europe, Australia and other countries. Roughly half of the recalls would take place in Japan, Toyota spokesman Jean-Yves Jault said. Only the Prius model would be recalled in the United States, where around 192,000 vehicles were affected, he said. Jault added that the issue had led to one incident of a short circuit in Japan, which produced smoke from the vehicle. In Singapore, a total of 4,115 Toyota Prius cars are affected by the recall. Borneo Motors, the authorised distributor for Toyota in Singapore, said it will reach out to Prius customers to check their vehicles, and if necessary, conduct repairs at no cost.
