Mr Kong, deputy pastor Tan Ye Peng and three other church leaders were picked up by the police at their homes early on Tuesday morning and taken in for questioning over the alleged misuse of church funds as well as alleged breaches under charity laws. All five are expected to be produced in court on Wednesday. This latest development comes two years after the Commercial Affairs Department started a probe into the alleged misuse of church funds in May 2010 BREAKING* City Harvest Pastor Kong Hee and 4 members have been arrested for alleged criminal breach of trust and for falsifying church accounts. 5. Hopefully the family don't sue SCDF SINGAPORE - An American hotel guest at the Swissotel The Stamford died from a fall from a height of at least 60 storeys in the wee hours of the morning on Sunday. The 40-year-old, whose identity is withheld by the hotel to respect her family's privacy, landed on an inaccessible metal parapet three storeys from the ground level, said The Straits Times (ST). On Sunday at about 4.10am, the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) received a call for assistance at Raffles City along Stamford Road. The woman was found by paramedics to have suffered multiple injuries. According to ST, the woman was thought unlikely to survive the impact of her fall, which delivered a 'severe blunt force trauma', damaging also the parapet. When they got to the scene, they could not reach her where she landed on the parapet near the 24-hour Starbucks coffee joint at Raffles City. They had to access a staircase to get to her and retrieve her body using safety harnesses and rescue lines. As they approached her, parts of the parapet gave way and her body fell to the ground, landing outside Starbucks. No customers or employees were standing outside, at the spot where the body landed, at the time. Police are still investigating and have classified the case as an unnatural death. A hotel spokesman said the hotel extended its deepest condolences to her family and friends. It is also helping the police with investigations. The Swissotel The Stamford is the tallest hotel here at 73 stories and one of South-east Asia's tallest. Business as usual Starbucks said the woman's fall had damaged the roof of its outdoor seating area and caused water leakage. However, it is business as usual for the cafe, although the outdoor area is currently closed for repairs. A Raffles City spokesman told ST that retail operations were as usual at the mall.

  7. Anyone encounter someone who look like a fake TP standing on the overhead bridge carrying a black point & shoot camera aiming at cars. Yesterday morning happen to see one around 820am, white Merc taxi suddenly jam brake shortly after passing the stationary speed trap and that's when the taxi driver starts to floor his accelerator. I was following behind on the bend where the bridge ahead in not in full view and nearly kiss the taxi upon seeing those brake lights and saw the guy on top wearing the white top and dark blue pants but doesn't seem neatly pressed as an uniform should. Looks more like those whom summon at hdb car park. If it's real then I think this is a dangerous stunt and TP should be aware of. For a minute the taxi was traveling under 80kmh. Must have scared the sxxx out of him.

  18. KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian world heritage city of Malacca will be smoke-free from June 15, a first for the country, the health minister said on Monday. The move was to bring in more tourists and help stamp out smoking in a country where the habit is widespread, Liow Tiong Lai told AFP, insisting it would also help preserve the city. "The idea is to create fresh air and a clean environment for tourists and Malaysians alike to enjoy the historic city," he said. "It will also aid in preserving the old monuments and buildings as the ban will reduce pollution in the area and promote a healthy lifestyle." The no-smoking area covers the entire 4.2 square kilometres (1.6 square miles) of the city and four other areas in the southern state of Malacca. "These areas will be free from cigarette smoke and make Malacca city the first smoking-free city in the country," said the minister. "Those caught will be hit with a fine of 300 ringgit (US$100) although the maximum penalty is 5,000 ringgit." Malacca chief minister Mohamad Ali Rustam told the Star daily that the state was also serious about declaring more tourist destinations in the state smoke-free zones. With more than 500 years of trading and cultural exchanges between East and West, Malacca's multi-cultural heritage is seen its ornately designed government buildings, churches and forts. It is where the Malay sultanate originated in the 15th century, before being invaded by the Portuguese and Dutch in the early 16th century. In 2008, UNESCO included Malacca and Georgetown, on the resort island of Penang, in its world heritage list but there have been recent concerns that the southern port city could be de-listed because of redevelopment in its historic quarter. Malaysia is hoping the heritage listing will boost tourism, which is a key foreign exchange earner. I wonder how are they gonna enforce this....

  22. Yahoo News report : Athens top city for online flirting-dating website LONDON - The home of Socrates, Plato and Aristotle is the "most flirtatious city" of the modern world, a new study showed on Monday. Athens topped a "World Flirtation League," which ranked cities by the number of online flirtations initiated per month by the average user in each on online social networking site Badoo.com . Moscow came second, while Rome placed 8th and Madrid 31st, Paris 38th, London 57th, Berlin 79th, and New York 89th in the study of nearly 200 cities across the world in which Badoo analyzed 12 million flirtatious contacts made during a month, with 108 million users chatting and flirting in 180 countries. The Lonely Planet Encounter Guide to Athens author Victoria Kyriakopoulous said the results are hardly surprising as the Greek capital is a seductive city, with a hedonistic lifestyle. "Athenians love to party and they love to talk," she said. "Flirting and sexual banter are not just a means to an end but part of social interaction." She said the internet is just a new means to the age-old dance of attraction and love. "Old people flirt, married people flirt, now young people are simply using technology to do what Athenians have always done." The average Badoo user in Athens initiated 25.7 online flirtations per month -- over twice as many as in Rio . Tunis, birthplace of the "Jasmine Revolution," is among three Arab cities . Plato said "Love is a serious mental disease." The great man never shared his views on online flirting but he knew something at least about offline flirting, said Simon Hardy, British academic and author of "The Greeks, Eroticism and Ourselves." hmmmmmm.................... can SG replace Athen to be no.1 in this ...... Survey conducted in 200 cities and SG is not even one of the 'top' 10 cities. We must work very hard for this ......
  23. http://sg.yfittopostblog.com/2011/02/17/46...gang-gathering/ Forty-six male diners were arrested for suspected involvement in gang activities at Turf City. It felt like a scene out of a Hong Kong police drama serial, said Madam Doris Yeo, the owner of Chong Pang BBQ Seafood. Madam Yeo, 49, was getting ready to knock off work early on Tuesday night to join her husband for their 26th wedding anniversary when the police came knocking on the door of her barbecue seafood restaurant on the second floor of Turf City. She said she was busy behind the drinks counter at the time when some officers in plainclothes shut the glass sliding doors of the main entrance.
