  1. Just like to share with all MCFers a little experience with the rim cleaning products from my limited period of experiment and experience. When I decided that I wanted to keep my rims clean of brake dust, I started analysing the results of a few brands of off-the-shelf products. Meguiar, 3M, Turtle wax. I was told all brands hv more or less similar formula. I tried a few methods of cleaning using these products: 1. I used them with a brush on my rims. First I wet the rims by spraying with a garden hose to rid whatever lose brake dust. Then I spray/scrub each area as I go until I clean the whole rim. The rubbers were also scrubed at the same time. Result: usually quite clean but over time a little tough dirt seem to have bedded into the corners of rims which this method doesnt remove. I suspect this is due to the delay in cleaning the rim after becoming dirty n also the cleaner did not remain long enuf or concentrated enuf to get rid of these stuffs. 2. Spray concentrated rims cleaners onto dry rims, yes dry rims. Wait for like 2 mins, then follow same steps as method 1 above. Result: some old tuff stains are also removed which cannot be done using method 1. However, some areas had some whitish remains after the wash when dried. 3. Dilute the concentration of the rims cleaners to half. Spray on rims, leave for 1 or 2 mins. No scrubbing, just hose off with water. Result: not as clean as method 2 cost some tuff grim still there, probably due to reduced concentration of cleaner. From my own experience, in terms of time the spray/wait/hose off method seems best but gotta be careful with potential corrosion as i undertsd the products contain mild acids. make sure it doesnt get onto yr car body's paint. From a thoroughly clean perspective, I think the more concentrated the cleaner the better the results. Reduced concentration can be used but some tuff dirt may not come off. Scrubing helps remove dirt in diff to reach places which the spray cannot reach but doesnt not guarantee tugg grime is removed unless the cleaner has sufficient concentration. Recently I ve also bot a glove to clean my rims I wear it and use my fingers to reach diff to scrub places esp behind the spokes Ok now on the products What are these.....well f knows All I knew is they normally cost ard $15 each, friggin expensive if u use in concentrated form. Have I tried cheaper alternatives? Yes, kitchen products available in supermarts such as: 1. MML - good provided u use sufficient concentration otherwise noticed some tuff grime doesnt comes off. Generally cleans pretty well if use brush to scrub, cannot use just spray/hose off method. price.....probably 1/4 price of car products. Can buy refill packs somemore 2. I recently came across an even better product - Kiwi Clean all purpose cleaner Love it so much. Only $3.20 per spray bottle, blue liquid. Works better than MML IMO. Smells good too ! The label states that it can be used for cleaning rims 3. Another potential kitchen product I hvnt tried but might try in near future, but needs to use with care. Its is the MAGIC CLEAN kitchen/toilet cleaner also in spray bottle form. I almost tried it until I read that it may contain strong active ingredients hence I was fearful its too strong n may corrode the rim. Around $3 per bottle or so. However, I was also thinking it might work like meguiar rim cleaner which is also acidic n cost $15 How do u guys/gals clean yr rims?

    Cleaner Wax

Hullo, i am thinking of using Cleaner Wax (from Meg) on my ride, but i am really afraid of using it wrongly, so any advice from the seasoned blink-blinkers on how i should use this cleaner wax. For instance, apply how much (compared to size of 50c coin) over how big an area? What applicator? Apply in circular motion? etc... Currently, i am just washing, claying and waxing (paste) my ride but really keen to test out cleaner wax to see if car can blink more. Thanks y'all.
  3. Hi guys, Anyone tried this new zaino polish before? More info: http://www.zainostore.com/Merchant2/mercha...gory_Code=Zaino Checked with Cazcomp and they are not selling it, its for their own use only.
  4. anybody used this before? Paint cleaner. Does it help to remove swirls?
  5. i made a mistake of using a rim cleaner that it 'eats up' my brake caliper colour and the nut that secure our rims..........anyone knows how to reverse the effect such as retain it original condition? any recommended wheel cleaner that doesn't corrode the caliper? thanks
  6. Guys, went to Carrefour Suntec yestrday and saw STP Injector Cleaner on sales at $6.90 per bottle. Got lotsa stock left on the shelf. Best price I've ever bought before was $6.50 but that shop closed down already... So $6.90 is IMO a very good price to grab a few bottles if you do use this.
  7. Hi bros, From much reading on the net I learnt that this is probably one of the best one step waxes around. I bought the paste version but I have experienced great difficulty in using this product. Instructions say to apply and let dry throughly so i applied to the whole car before attempting to buff but the residue became rock hard and was impossible to remove. in the end I had to use AIO to remove the wax residue. Have any of u guys used this wax before? How can i use this great wax more effectively? Cheers!

    Zymol Cleaner Wax

The light bluish-greenish coconut smell one. Anyone tried it? Feedback?
  9. Is the above OK to use? I saw one of the posts that the above can cause swirl marks?. I bought 5...... . If cannot use, I may use it for interior cleaning or glass cleaning.
  10. Hi Guys Any good wheel cleaner solution to recommend for cleaning rims? I am looking at the Black Magic and Amourall wheel cleaner ? Are they good , make your rims shine? I hear one bro here used Black Magic cleaner and got his rims de-coloured
  11. I was doing a little window shopping at a shop selling car care products, than I saw this Turtle Wax Platinum Series Leather Cleaner & Conditioner. I had tried the wax and was pretty happy with the result, so thought of trying out this leather cleaner since my leather seat also getting quite dirty liao . The cleaner is quite creamy in texture, slightly off white in colour and the smell is not too strong too. So with a MF towel, I started working with it on my car leather seat and surprisingly, the dirt stain came out pretty easily and it does not leave an oily feel to the leather seat. Before After When I got back home I took it to the test again and tried it out on my leather sofa which was not cleaned with any leather cleaner for the past 4 years . And again I'm pretty impressed by the result. As you can see from the photo the right treated portion looks much cleaner and whiter than the untreated left portion. So for those who are looking for a 1 step leather cleaner & conditioner, this Turtle Wax Platinum Series Leather Cleaner & Conditioner might be something you want to consider .
  12. Hi Fellow MCFers, Recently just bought the Steam Cleaner for household use. Under the instructions, it can also be used for car rims. I thought of using it to clean my rims to get rid of some stubborn stain and dust. Just wondering if the high temparature (100 Celsius) would be damaging to the tyres and suspension systems? Any feedback is appreciated. Thanks.

    3M Glass Cleaner

Hi all, this is my virgin post... . need some help. My windscreen is damn dirty and has plenty of stubborn stains. Tried dishwasher but doesn't help. Would appreciate if anyone can recommend me some product to clean it? In addition, heard that the 3M Glass Cleaner is good but can't find in Stamford or Autobacs. Anyone know where to get it?? Thanks.
  14. Hi all, Anybody using Pennzoil fuel system cleaner??? Is it ok for my catalytic converter as it wasnt mentioned that it is safe for cat converters. Very little documentation about the product as its a new product I think.
  15. Anyone can comment the effectiveness of the liquid? will it damage the car or will it do what it says - to clean the fuel injectors? need some advice as my car is going into 3rd year and was thinking of giving its engine a good scrub... Thanks!
  16. Just to check anyone ever try the NOS Fuel system cleaner or Octane booster? I saw it at Autobac but dun know it is worthwhile to buy it or not? I have tried on the STP but find not really useful.
  17. Me thinking of getting a portable (cordless) vacuum cleaner. Any expert advice? Why cordless because it is easier to move around... but afraid it is really not strong...
  18. Hi Anyone can rec me a brand to buy? I saw STP carb cleaner but it does not state can be use for current direct injection car. Can someone rec me a place to buy, i am driving a corolla.
  19. Hey guys Have anyone tried a fuel cleaner system? A friend tried my car and says that the engine does not feel revvy... and suspect that it is a case of carbon build-up I can't possibly red-line 3rd gear in Singapore without the fear of losing my licence on the spot. So I got 2 choices to clear carbon: 1. Get a "additive" fuel cleaner example: http://www.stp.com/fuel_treat.html 2. Head north for a 1 hour run, red-line 3rd and 4th until shiok shiok Anyone interested in such a run. No coffee break type. Hit 2nd link, onto the NS for about 1/2 hour u-turn another 1/2 hour, get cheaper gas there and cross back into Singapore. Probably a weekday morning. Cheers Cool_jazz
  20. Anyone know where to get the Autoglym Engine cleaner? Looking a few Homefix stores/petrol stations, cannot find any.
  21. Dunno whether this is old news but IMM Giant is selling Meguairs Cleaner Wax at $10 per bottle and Meguairs Deep Crystal carwash (2Q bottle, purple color) at $10 (stated regular price both $16+ each). Anyone has any experience/comments on them ? Can the Cleaner Wax be used after application of Klasse or Zaino i.e. is the "cleaning" property undesirable in such a situation as it may strip away the good stuff? What would be the ideal situation to use it ? Thanx

  23. Great stuff in MCF ! Need some help here. Just got my bimmer a month ago that comes with original alloy rims. Applied Armourall wheel cleaner but after 2-3 applications, the front wheels start to haze and lost its shine. Very rough feeling. Really heartache The rear wheels are OK. Read the bottle label and realise warning against applying on hot wheels (the front wheel are ussually hotter than the rear)...but it is too late now. Any remedies ?
  24. I'm not sure but the car interior is generally vinyl? Main item in consideration is that black dashboard from front passenger's airbags to the driver's instructments. This is vinyl right? (feels rubbery). Over time, there're some smudges caused by fingerprints, etc but the main thing is dust! I probably need some vinyl cleaner / protectant, with these charactertistics. Any recommendation? * repels dust (anti-static?) * matt finish * new-car smell
