  1. Plan a family holiday trip to Australia at End of Nov, Any good hotel to recommend to stay in Sydney and Gold Coast? must go place to visit? Like to find a farm stay near either city (<100KM driving), any recommendation? Thanks for suggestions.
  2. just got reports that a cyclist had been hit by a pickup this morning on Changi Coast Road .... pickup windshield smash, cyclist's bicycle smashed, cyclist covered up. why don't cyclists understand the risks that they put themsleves in ??
  3. http://youtu.be/Y5qwrjo8M2Q Gonna be sadly missed. Guess many here grew up going to this particular McDonalds. So many memories.
  4. Published on Dec 8, 2011 Officers from the Singapore Civil Defence Force recovered a body from the shores of East Coast beach on Tuesday. The body, believed to be that of a 60-year-old Chinese man, was first spotted floating off the beach near the East Coast Seafood Centre. He was clad in a green T-shirt with stripes, black bermudas and black shoes. Shin Min Daily News reported on Wednesday that he was also bleeding from his eyes and nose. Police are investigating the case as an unnatural death. http://www.straitstimes.com/BreakingNews/S...ory_742581.html
  5. It was a bad day this morning. While my wife was driving (05 Civic) on the extreme left lane on West Coast Highway after turning from Clementi Road. A container trucker was coming down from the flyover. As the 2 roads came close, our car was just beside the truck and it lane change left and hit our right rear passenger door. When my wife noticed that the truck was shifting left towards her, she horn and tried to accelerate but it was too late. The driver then claimed that he did not hear my wife horn, also did not notice our car and has already signal his intention that he was doing a lane change to the left. I was thinking that we were in fault somewhere, and did agreed to a private settle with panel beating instead of insisting changing of doors (other party claimed that it is too expensive and just panel beating will be good enough) since we did not get the driver to write a statement indicating what happened suggesting he was at fault. Since this is our first encounter of an accident, we were caught off guard and did not really know what to do apart from taking photo, video and information of driver and car registration number. Experienced drivers, from this lesson, is there anyway my wife could have evaded the truck or could we insist on the door change? How could we have better managed the situation? Thanks for sharing.

  7. I have been using this exit to ECP every morning, this is opposite the Esso station, The slip road is wide enough for 2 cars abreast though it's a single lane. No problem even with buses. Thus I feedback in early april to raise this concern of heavy usage during the morning peak hours. I have observed those that used this lane daily will understand how others will drive, however, those that may not be familiar to this stretch will not realise some drivers will just also drive from right lane to the left slip road and requested a widen slip road to officially make this into a two lane slip road like Lornie road, Marine Parade road to ECP etc. LTA has replied on the 9 May to inform they will widen the road to improve a better traffic flow in a more regulated manner. Do you all agree with such changes?
  8. Kind of surprise that there isn't a single PAP rally in West Coast GRC during this election. The opposition Reform Party had been agressively holding rally almost every night after nomination day. But rally by PAP is nowhere to be seen. The last time this GRC was contested was back in 1997. This mean most of the PAP candidates had not experience contesting in election before. This will be a good chance to showcase themselves at the rally. I believe many residents will be keen to hear what they got to say, but there isn't any. I see the RP new kid on the block working hard to win votes, but the same cannot be said of the incumbent team. Confident or complacent?
  9. Are you happy with the traffic situation? Are you happy staring at your CPF account every month? Here's your choice, do the right thing...... *Candidates pictures deleted for fear of contravening forum rules... Btw, there has not been any announcement of any million dollar project for EC, they are very sure they will win.....
  10. Due to some reason, can't celebrate V-Day tomorrow. So, instead, will do it this friday. Was thinking of ordering Italian take away (good ones. Maybe La Strada. Something along that line) and a bottle of wine. Put down a mat and spend the (or most of) night there. Which part of east coast better for this? Thanks.....
  11. Hi, It is a reverse and hit case. This noon time, while driving along upper east coast towards city direction, while waiting for traffic light at the juction of Bedok south ave 1, the Nissan lorry in front suddenly reserved and hit my car in the front. Too late after earing the reverse sound i have no time to react. The lorry driver came and said sorry, initially he wanted me to go to his workshop for private settlement which I have agreed. However after he called his company boss (it is a company lorry), he changed his mind and wanted to settle through insurance. When I came to report the accident with insurance workshop, I was told even though it is not my fault, the situation makes me in the disadvantage, and he said based on his experience, 9 out 10 reserve hit case, the reserve driver will deny and the one being hit is made to pay. This is extremely frustruting. And if I make third party claim and lose the case in the end, I will have to pay all the repair cost by myself as my insurance company wont pay if third party claim fails. So they suggest do own damage claim first, if other party deny, at least I can have my insurance company cover the repair cost. There were two cars in from of lorry in the same lane, and another car in the side lane. Mine is red Latio sport. If you happen to be at the scene, appreciate you could pm me, your help is deeply appreciated. thanks Stdfrank
  12. Recently I came to take notice of a house that seems to be abandoned - 297 Upper East Coast Road. It is of latest modern design, completely rebuilt, yet is in very bad condition with fallen leaves everywhere in its front yard. Never see anybody in the house at night for a long stretch already. I am sure it will find a lot of interested buyers if put in market due to its modern architectural outlook. Is anybody in the know willing to provide any information why it is in this state?
  13. With downtown lines, Northeast line, east coast line, additional north south line, 10 years down, no need car liao, everyone can take MRT and pay property prices through their noses. Everyone can expect a mrt stn at their door! How will this affect the prices of those property with existing lines?
  14. In case you are not in the loop, or never pass by the above petrol kiosk today, there is a free tyre wear check done by Michelin tyres. It takes only about 5 minutes and you do not need to leave your car. After the check, you will get a goodie bag that have 4 tyre caps and a digital tyre gauge among other freebies like keychain, stickers, etc. They will check all your tyres pressure, and their inner and outer wear depth. This is good as it will allow you to know whether your tyres are inflated at the correct pressure, thus ensuring proper wearing and longer lifespan. Those who live nearby east coast especially can try lah. The event total actually span a few weekends at different petrol kiosk over the island. Can see some petrol attendants not very happy as the michelin staff just ushered the cars to the petrol pumps and do the check, even for those who never pump petrol. But they sure ar enthusiatic. Confirm no need to buy Michelin tyres for the event. The staff never once talk about the brand. They only talk about your tyres, like they are doing a public service.

  23. dear all, Just drove past ( abt 8.30~8.45pm, 10Mar08) the aftermath of an car + bike accident, at the junction of west coat rd + clementi rd junction. Yes that huge one. The bike seems to be a large one, while the other cars front / side / front left wheel + arm gone... bonnet / radiator front gone, cant see if windscreen is smashed. While bike + its many pieces lying behind the car... hope the biker is OK. Seems like the car is coming from town along west coast road, making a RIGHT turn while bike is going st from opp dir. Saw 3 pax standing by side of road, hopefully one of them is the biker. The 3 min down in clementi rd, saw a polis car, with blue lights flashing coming along... anyone with mroe details ?? mice
