  3. New traffic management systems to be tested on expressways and major roads: LTA SINGAPORE - Motorists on some roads will start seeing new cameras this week. The Land Transport Authority (LTA) will be testing Automatic Number Plate Recognition camera systems meant to help with traffic enforcement at various locations along expressways and major roads until 2019. Dedicated Short Range Communications beacons, which aim to enhance positioning accuracy, are also being tested. "These tests will enable LTA to determine the performance and reliability of such technologies under various real-life environmental and traffic conditions for future traffic management systems which will leverage Global Navigation Satellite System technology," the LTA said on Monday (March 26). The new equipment, which do not require heavy physical infrastructure, will be mounted on overhead bridges, overhead gantry signs and lamp posts. The devices will also be placed on vehicles and deployed at areas like Tuas South from April before expanding to the rest of the country.

Now is the 'rat' turn ... Yahoo report : Yosemite park at heart of deadly outbreak Yosemite National Park officials are spreading the word about an outbreak of the deadly, mouse-borne hantavirus, hoping to stop it in its tracks. The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention say around 10,000 people who stayed in tent cabins at the California park between June and August could have contracted the disease. So far two people who camped at the park have died of the lung virus that causes flu-like symptoms, while four others were treated successfully. The CDC added that it is investigating more cases that could be linked to the outbreak. link: http://sg.news.yahoo.com/video/yosemite-pa...-132424739.html

According to media reports, Mr Koh was stopped on his way home by a PRC couple who begged him to lend him some money to buy food. The PRC woman explained that it was their first trip to Singapore and their friend who was supposed to receive them had gone abroad, hence leaving them stranded without any money for food or lodging. Mr Koh initially suspected that it might be a scam, but his heart softened upon hearing repeated pleas from the PRC woman whom he described as
  7. Had they started burning forest in Indonesia. Its only begining of February 2014 ..... yahoo news: Return of haze feared as Indonesian forest fires reach ‘alarming conditions’ Hazy days may return to Malaysia after it was reported today that hundreds of hectares of forest in Indonesia's Riau province have been ravaged by fire, reaching "alarming conditions", according to the Jakarta Post. The English-language daily reported that a lack of rainfall made fire-fighting efforts more difficult, and thin haze has already blanketed Dumai and Pekanbaru, Riau's capital. “Firefighters experienced difficulties extinguishing the flames as the area is dried peatland,” Riau's Meranti Islands regency forestry agency head M. Murod was quoted as saying. Fires have been burning since last week in the regency, and have spread to Rangsang Island and Tebingtinggi Island, destroying about 200 hectares of land. Murod hoped Jakarta would help the efforts by arranging for cloud seeding to avoid a repeat of the haze which struck neighbouring countries. In June last year, schools in Singapore and Malaysia were shut and state of emergency declared in several areas in Johor after the Air Pollution Index (API) crossed 700. An API rate between 0 to 50 is considered as good, 51-100 as moderate, 101-200 as unhealthy, 201-300 very unhealthy, and above 300 as hazardous. In the past, the dry season, between May and September, was blamed for the haze, as well as on Indonesian farmers who did land clearing for the planting season. The haze last year had also sparked a war of words between Jakarta and officials from Malaysia and Singapore, after an Indonesian minister said Sinaporean and Malaysian companies were to blame for forest-clearing activities. Murod said he could not identify the plantations involved in the latest fires. “The blaze is getting bigger and bigger inside the plantations. It’s difficult to identify. I have just received a report on losses suffered by residents,” he said, as reported by the Jakarta Post. Bengkalis regency's Disaster and Firefighter Agency head Mohammad Jalal meanwhile did not rule out land clearing activities for the latest fires. “We have often warned about avoiding fire in peatland. In the current hot weather and strong winds, the dried peatland could easily burn and it’s difficult to extinguish,” he told the Jakarta Post. – February 3, 2014. link: http://sg.news.yahoo.com/return-haze-feared-indonesian-forest-fires-reach-alarming-043157236.html We are now enjoying North-East wind condition and should the wind direction changes, we will be affected ... 12. No spoilers here. I just thought this incredible show with an amazing finale deserved its own thread instead of being randomly OT-ed from threads focused on Dexter and other shows that just went to crap in the later seasons. One of the very best TV shows of all time, and definitely an incredible ending. Even though it was predictable (they basically featured some of the important plot points in a much earlier show!), it somehow managed to be very satisfying. Unfortunately, all Bad things must come to an end.

  14. I was driving in the morning and was on Class 95 FM. Flying Dutchman was on this topic of gay policies in SG. He asked this question: What if your 15 yr old child comes to you one day and say "I'm gay". What and how will you reply? I was thinking abt this while driving, and I decided that my response to this question is to drop my kid from whatever unit floor we are staying. And if I'm staying in landed property, i will bloody run over him in the driveway.

  16. It's not quite what we expected, but Apple has just introduced us to a new, 4th generation iPad at its event in San Jose, California today. It's essentially a hardware refresh for Apple's 3rd gen slate, as it packs new A6X silicon with quad-core graphics that the company claims provides double the performance of the old A5X chip. The new iPad also gets dual-band 802.11 a/b/g/n WiFi, expanded LTE compatibility (including Sprint and KDDI), a 720p FaceTime camera on the front and the new image processor first seen in the iPhone 5. Of course, it also gets the reversible Lightning port that debuted on on the iPhone, and will be available in both black and white. Pricing stays the same as its predecessor, with a 16GB WiFi version for $499 and a 16GB model with cellular data on board costs $629. Interested? You'll be able to pick one up through Apple's online and brick and mortar stores or Apple Authorized Resellers in a host of countries -- listed in the PR after the break -- on November 2nd. 19. Yahoo reported : VW says Porsche deal clears path to global leadership WOLFSBURG/FRANKFURT, Germany (Reuters) - Volkswagen (GER:VOW3.DE - News) moved closer to its aim of becoming the world's top car maker by buying up the remaining half of Porsche in a deal that ends a protracted takeover struggle which has sparked family feuds and investor lawsuits. The deal will enable VW to escape a tax bill of 1.5 billion euros. It also allows VW to speed up Porsche's integration into a multi-brand empire that aims to sell 10 million vehicles a year to become the world's no. 1 by 2018. "We're wrapping up one of the most significant projects in the automotive world," VW Chief Executive Martin Winterkorn told reporters at the group's Wolfsburg headquarters. "Together we are more capable than ever of becoming the best auto company on the planet," he said, adding that VW was poised to invest "massively" in new shared technologies and production. Joint projects already underway include Porsche's next model, the Macan mid-size SUV, due for a 2014 launch. VW plants already provide the painted car bodies for some Porsche models and will build the Porsche Boxster in new factory in Osnabrueck, Germany. Already a major player in emerging markets such as China, Russia and Latin America, Volkswagen will also need a bigger U.S. presence if it is to win and maintain the global crown. Shares of Europe's biggest automaker rose strongly on Thursday after it agreed to buy the remaining half of the sports-car maker for 4.46 billon euros. "VW is getting a good deal," said London-based Morgan Stanley analyst Stuart Pearson, predicting in a note to investors that its completion would lift VW earnings by 6 percent next year. "Porsche is the world's best premium car story." Holding company Porsche SE had initially hoped to acquire Volkswagen in a leveraged buyout and plunder VW's coffers to fund the deal. The controversial plan hatched by Porsche SE's star CEO Wendelin Wiedeking drove a wedge between the two clans at the time, but they reconciled after Wiedeking's risky manoeuvre pushed the holding company to near bankruptcy. Hmmmmm........ initially, Porsche wanted to buy over VW but instead, VW bought over Porsche ....

Dealer was trying to push the error message is not from them and might be my previous "Open Pod" but I have no issue for pass 03 month after using until The system was installed on Monday and I ask the dealer why this is happening to my car after installing the 4-Channel and Monobloc at their shop. The shop itself doesn't have the digital equipment to check the error so they ask me to send in to one of their recommended service workshop they know. Send in to the workshop, Diagnose report shows P2185 ECT Sensor 2 Circuit High Voltage Then on Day Two, they told me to drive back to their shop to check the wiring and next the mention it might be my E-Throttle that cause this problem. I told them you can unplug and test ... the engine light still comes up. Wasted the whole second day and nothing is done.
