  1. If you enter a MSCP at night, would you dim your light so as not to shine the light at the driver whose car is facing directly at the ramp coming up towards him? Majority of drivers don't and this is so irritating and inconsiderate.

  3. http://www.channelnewsasia.com/stories/sin...1090380/1/.html Singapore's Electoral Boundaries Review Committee convened By S Ramesh | Posted: 30 October 2010 1715 hrs HANOI: Singapore's Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong says the Electoral Boundaries Review Committee has been convened. Typically, the prime minister appoints the committee just before a General Election to review the electoral division boundaries and recommend changes. The committee examines the growth of the voter population from the last General Election and recommends the number of Group Representation Constituencies (GRCs) and single-member constituencies (SMCs) and their boundaries. Speaking to the Singapore media on the sidelines of the ASEAN Summit in Hanoi on Saturday, Mr Lee said he has issued the instruction to convene the committee and it is being chaired by the Secretary to the Cabinet, Tan Kee Yong. Prime Minister Lee's revelation comes hot on the heels of a speech made by Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong on Friday at a university forum that the political buzz will increase in Singapore as many Singaporeans believe that the General Election will be held later this year or early next year. Prime Minister Lee weighed in with this to say: "I don't think it is any surprise. Elections are due some time before February 2012, so if you haven't got the signal by now, something must be wrong with you." On when the report by the Electoral Boundaries Review Committee would be out, Mr Lee said Singaporeans would have to wait and see. The release of the report is seen as one of the clearest signals of a General Election around the corner. For the 2006 General Election, the report was released about seven weeks before Nomination Day. With changes to the Parliamentary Elections Act in Singapore to increase the number of SMCs from the current nine to 12, and to reduce the size of some of the GRCs, especially the ones with six MPs currently, the final report of the Electoral Boundaries Review Committee would be very much looked out for by current Members of Parliament and the opposition parties, some of whom have already been reserving the GRCs which they want to contest in. Prime Minister Lee also revealed that he expects to bring in quite a number of new candidates and several potential office holders to contest in the upcoming elections. He said: "I expect to bring in quite a number of new candidates and several potential office holders and they will strengthen my leadership team. "But I am not announcing elections today. But there will be time to introduce them and get to know them." On the latest Cabinet revamp announced by him on Wednesday, before he left for the Hanoi summit, Mr Lee said it is a reshuffle with the cards which the government presently has. He said: "It's a reshuffle with the cards which we presently have. For the ministers, as I said in my comment, it is a logical consequence or move which we set a couple of years ago when I appointed Lui Tuck Yew as Acting Minister and when I brought in Shanmugam as the Law Minister and Second Minister for Home Affairs. So gradually we are bringing them into positions and putting them in place. "(For the) Parliamentary Secretaries, (their promotions) is a reward for performance and contributions. They are all deserving and I think they will continue to work hard in the same portfolios they have been hitherto, because I haven't reshuffled them. Beyond that, we will wait till I bring in new cards, which means I bring in new candidates, which will be in the general election." Singapore's leaders have said that out of the next General Election, the country must produce Singapore's fourth Prime Minister and a core team of younger Ministers who will take over from the present team.

  8. http://en.espnf1.com/f1/motorsport/story/35830.html This should be the most powerful 1.6L of all time........ I don't know if it could exceed the F1 turbo engines used in the 80s back then but since engine technology has advance so much for the past 20-30yrs, there should be no reason why it should not match or even exceed it. I am thinking power of around 700-800HP from the 1.6L 4 potter at probably 12-15K RPM.

  11. SINGAPORE: Mas Selamat Kastari, the leader of the Singapore Jemaah Islamiyah terrorist network, was handed over on Friday to Singapore custody by the Malaysian authorities. Singapore's Home Affairs Ministry said he has been arrested under the Singapore's Internal Security Act, and is currently under investigation. Mas Selamat escaped from the Whitley Road Detention Centre on February 27, 2008. The Home Affairs Ministry said following close cooperation between the security agencies in Malaysia and Singapore, the Malaysian Special Branch arrested Mas Selamat in Johor on April 1 2009, and detained him under Malaysia's Internal Security Act until his repatriation to Singapore. It said it has conveyed its deepest appreciation to its Malaysian counterparts, the Malaysian Special Branch and the Special Task Force, for their assistance in the arrest and repatriation of Mas Selamat to Singapore. It added that this operation illustrates the longstanding close cooperation between the Malaysian and Singaporean security agencies, which has served both countries well. -CNA/wk

  14. Bangladesh to send 45k maids to S'pore DHAKA - SINGAPORE will recruit 45,000 Bangladeshi domestic workers in a boost for the impoverished country's labour export sector after jobs dried up in the Middle East and elsewhere in Asia, an official said on Sunday. Singaporean recruiting firms agreed on the number following talks in Dhaka last week, director of the government's Bureau of Manpower Employment and Training (BMET) Nurul Islam told AFP. 'They want some 45,000 maids in a year. We shall train the maids and start sending them to Singapore by the end of this year,' Ms Islam said. 'It's a very good news for us. It comes as our traditional markets such as the Middle Eastern countries and Malaysia have yet to ride out the impact of the global recession.' The global downturn affected jobs for Bangladeshi workers in the construction and manufacturing sectors in the Persian Gulf. According to the BMET, Bangladesh sent 202,000 workers abroad in the first half of 2010 - the lowest in four years. Malaysia, hit hard by the recession, has accepted no new Bangladeshi workers for more than a year. Saudi Arabia, which employs more than two million Bangladeshis, signed up only 2,200 in the first quarter of 2010. For the same period in 2008, it employed 48,000. -- AFP

  18. Hi All I am helping someone to buy a car and the Cayenne is one of our options. But i am not "in the know" when it comes to Porsche so does anyone know whether there is a new Cayenne coming out anytime this year and if yes, when is the expected arrival? I dun want to buy the current model only to see it become old model within a few months. For those who know, maybe also can help to highlight the main changes from the current one. From one site that i saw, they only show external pictures and changes seem to be rear light and front LED running lights. Much thanks.
  19. I need to get her something. Usually I just treat her to a nice dinner. But this time, I guess I need to get her something more...substantial? A small branded wallet? Not handbag, a wallet. Because my wallet isn't that thick and I am a worthless son. How much does a ladies wallet from, say, Bottega Veneta, Ferragamo cost? I hope it's ~$500 or so? And my dad's birthday is coming up too. I think I'll get him a glove for golf.
  20. Do you think we can see it in Singapore tonite? ................................................................................ .......................... Meteor In the pre-dawn hours of April 22 (1:00 - 3:00 am), be sure to look up. If you do, you'll likely be treated to a spectacular celestial show in the form of the Lyrids meteor shower. Why bother to wake up at an ungodly hour to gaze at the sky? Several reasons. First, the Lyrids shower was, according to Meteor Showers Online, first observed at least 2,600 years ago, making it the oldest of any meteor shower. Secondly, viewers have a small chance "to get a glimpse of some dazzling fireball meteors from a completely different meteor swarm." Here's a brief breakdown on the shower's history, tips on where to watch, and how in the heck the meteors earned their name... How to see them It's slightly more complicated that just craning your neck skyward, but not by much. For maximum viewing, you'll want to find a dark place, away from city lights, and with an open horizon. Lie back and give your eyes several minutes to adjust to the darkness. Then, wait for the show. How to know if what you just saw was part of the shower or just some jerk with a laser pointer? SPACE.com explains that identifying a Lyrid meteor can be done by following its trail. A Lyrids meteor should have a trail that "points back to near the dazzling blue-white star Vega." You can check out a helpful sky chart here. Old, but reliable In China, there are ancient records from 687 B.C. and 15 B.C. of meteors that are "believed to be Lyrids." SPACE.com explains that the Lyrids caused a small panic in Richmond, Virginia, back in 1803. "Numerous townspeople... were roused from their beds by a fire alarm and were able to observe a very rich display between 1 and 3 o'clock." This time, we know they're coming. How'd they get their name? National Geographic has a nice write up on the meteors and their history. Vega's constellation, where the meteors appear to emanate from, is known as "Lyra." Hence, the "shooting stars" became known as "Lyrids." Simple enough, right? What can you expect to see? Whenever the Lyrids come around, they put on a slightly different show. As Anthony Cook, an astronomer for the Griffith Observatory in Los Angeles, told National Geographic, "The only way to know what the Lyrids have in store for you, is to go outside and observe them." As for the fireballs, Space.com calls their appearance a "wildcard," but it's definitely in the realm of possibility. Follow Buzz Log on Twitter.
