  1. Recently, many deep sea creatures appeared in California beaches. Ancient believes that when creatures / animals leaving their habitats, its indicating that an earthquakes are coming. Animals can sense the magnetic fields changes and leave their habitats to escape. Scientist in NatGeo had indicated that the 'Big' quake is due around every 75,000 years and they are expecting anytime soon on California Tectonic Plates From Yahoo News : Rare and frightening footballfish washes up in California – again At first, the black blob spotted between rocks along the shores of San Diego this week was mistaken for a ball of tar. But as a concerned surfer approached, it became clear that this was something special. The finned creature had a gaping underbite that revealed nightmarish spiny teeth, small black eyes, a tentacle-covered appendage and bulb protruding from its head. Scientists at University of California San Diego’s Scripps Institution of Oceanography swiftly identified it as a Pacific football fish, a deep-sea dweller so rare that only 31 specimens have been found in more than a century since it was first discovered. The recent find, however, marked an even more remarkable moment. The Pacific footballfish is the third to wash ashore in California this year, a highly unusual event given its extreme reclusiveness. At this point, no one knows how or why the fish appeared – but scientists are excited about the opportunity to learn more. “The fact that a few washed up this year might just be serendipity for us,” said Ben Frable, an ichthyologist and the Collection Manager of Fishes at Scripps Institution of Oceanography who is examining and preserving the fish. He dismissed the idea that this was an indication that something was amiss. If that was the case, he said, there would be many more. But the two that were recovered this year (a third was photographed on the beach but disappeared before scientists got to the scene) are already offering the chance of new insights about the species. 7. A Goods and Services Tax (Amendment) Bill was passed in Parliament on Nov.19. With this being passed, Singaporeans can expect to pay GST for overseas services in 2020, including that of digital services such as Netflix and Spotify. This means that business-to-consumer services will have to register via an overseas vendor registration regime imposed on them. Criteria for businesses to be taxed Other companies providing video and music streaming services, mobile applications and software may also be affected. According to the second reading speech on the Goods and Services Tax (Amendment) Bill by Second Minister for Finance Lawrence Wong, such companies will have to register if they meet the two-tier criteria of: Having a global annual turnover of S$1 million or more Making sales of digital services of at least S$100,000 to Singapore consumers. The tax is expected to bring in an additional S$90 million of tax revenue every year. This comes as part of new rules to protect local retailers, by ensuring “both imported and local services are treated on a level playing field and accorded the same GST treatment.” Reverse Charge mechanism Between businesses, a “Reverse Charge mechanism” would be implemented instead. Instead of having the business or company based overseas accounting for the GST, the GST for goods and services would be accounted for by the local importing company. This would not affect a large number of businesses, however, as businesses which can claim a full refund of the GST they incur on their purchases, including imported services would not have this mechanism applied to them. It is slated to “affect mainly financial institutions and residential property developers” – those who were unable to have a full GST refund in the first place. How much more would I have to pay for my Netflix? As per the Goods and Services Tax Act, the rate of GST would be 7%. It was previously announced during Budget that GST would be raised to 9% some time 2021 and 2025.

  9. There’s nothing in the world quite so cynical as advertising. Most of us just accept it as a fact of life, which it is. For some of us there’s always a little growl of annoyance at the back of our minds whenever we’re forced to put up with someone trying to sell us something. On one hand, a reasonable decision has to be that anyone selling anything needs to make consumers aware of what’s available. You can’t always rely on buyers to actively seek you out. Advertising is fair enough, on that basis. On the other hand there have always been limits to how pervasive this commercial intrusion into our lives can get. Roadside billboards, radio ads, TV ads and printed ads are a passive attempt to engage with people with money to spend. They’re fine. You don’t have to pay attention if you don’t want to, even though lots of people do nonetheless. No one can argue that you don’t sometimes gain useful information from advertising. It’s good to know, for example, that there’s a car parts shop half an hour’s drive from your house that you didn’t know about, and never would have known about if not for advertising. On the other hand, the age of connected devices has brought with it a very different type of advertising. We’re talking about pop-ups, banner ads that are impossible to close down, and pre/mid-roll on videos. These are the commercial realities of the digital age. Advertising helps keep publications like this running, so it would be mighty hypocritical of us to call it all bad. But it’s about to get worse. This week we learned of a system built by an American company called Telenav. It will allow advertisers to pipe their commercials directly to your car’s media screen when the car is stationary. Adverts you never asked for and never agreed to accept. This, we have a problem with. Adverts will be delivered either under threat of financial penalties if you don’t ‘choose’ to watch them, or with a bribe-shaped discount on the cost of your connected car services if you do watch them. It depends on which way you want to look at it. A Telenav spokesperson said: With technology already able to check which way your face is turned and which way your eyes are looking, the car could know whether you’re watching these commercials or not. It may even pause them if you look away, or refuse to let you access the net until you’ve watched the whole advert(s). Forgive me if I’m being over-dramatic, but that sounds like being held to ransom in your own car. Your car is your personal space. It’s a private cocoon that you keep exactly the way you want it. You make it look the way you want, you make it sound the way you want and you make it feel the way you want. Your choice of model alone is a reflection of who you are, even if the car itself is unmodified. It’s yours, and only you should get to decide what goes on inside it.

  14. After its introduction of its current form in 1998, all new Jimny coming next year, after 20 years. Next-gen Suzuki Jimny 4×4 undisguised images leakedhttps://paultan.org/2017/08/25/next-gen-suzuki-jimny-4x4-undisguised-images-leaked/ The Suzuki Jimny has been around in its current third-generation form for almost a decade now, but the tiny off-roader is set to get a reboot at the 2017 Tokyo Motor Show that happens in October. Images of the next-generation Suzuki Jimny have now been leaked ahead of its Tokyo debut, and it shows the new car undisguised. The images you see here are likely to be from official presentation slides. They show a very square cut 4×4 that recalls the second-generation Jimny’s more basic design. Tall sides, big glass areas and vertical slats on the grille provide the link to Jimnys past, but the toy-like face is also modern and fits in well with Suzuki’s cool range of small cars – the Alto, Hustler and Ignis are all cute little things. The Jimny is no modern crossover, and will likely retain all of its famous off-road capabilities. A tailgate-mounted spare wheel keeps it real and chunky overfenders and black bumpers hint at its purpose. There’s also a look at the new Jimny’s interior. The dashboard is typically shallow and upright, and while there are similarities with the Ignis, it’s clear that Suzuki went for a ‘tough’ look with overtly rugged cues – see the instrument binnacle and exposed “bolts”. There’s a big infotainment screen in the middle. No specs leaked along with the pics, but possible engines could include Suzuki’s 1.0 litre three-cylinder “Boosterjet” turbo and a naturally-aspirated 1.2 litre four-cylinder unit from the Ignis. As a kei-car in Japan, a 660cc turbo triple is regulation. Suzuki Jimny Replacement Spotted On Public Roads For The First Timehttp://www.carscoops.com/2017/08/suzuki-jimny-replacement-spotted-on.html

  18. Xioami listed as cheapest HP had been broken.......... Here comes S$3/- Android HP with Andriod 5.1 Lollipop, 1.3 GHz, 1 GB RAM and 4 GB storage space. Yahoo : Don’t laugh. This Indian company has just launched world’s cheapest smartphone priced at US$1.34 The Namotel Acche Din has a 4-inch display, runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop, powered by 1.3GHz quad-core processor, and has 1 GB RAM and 4GB storage space With US$1.34, you could probably buy 2.5 kg of tomatoes in India but not a smartphone. Oh, wait. From today, you can buy a smartphone for less than US$2.00 in India. Bangalore-based company Namotel has announced in a press conference that it has launched the world’s cheapest smartphone, priced at INR 99 (US$1.34) — which is cheaper than Freedom 251, priced at US$4, launched by another Indian firm (The company is, however, under investigation for misleading the public). Christened Namotel Acche Din (Namo is apparently the nickname of Indian PM Narendra Modi), the ’cheaper-than-the-cheapest’ handset will be available for booking between May 17 to 25, 2016. According to the company, Namotel Acche Din has a 4-inch display, runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop, and is powered by 1.3GHz quad-core processor. It has 1 GB RAM and 4GB storage space. The smartphone brand will be available only in India on cash-on-delivery basis. Those who have an Aadhaar card can register on its site and book the phone. Acche Din (means good days) comes with one year warranty. For handset and accessory defects under normal use circumstances and at the discretion of the company, Namotel shall provide free-of-charge repair and/or replacement services within the warranty period, it claims on its website. The company is promoted by Madhava Reddy, who claims to have worked as a relationship manager in the Axis Bank’s Home Loans. Established in 2016, the company looks to promote the ‘Make in India’ initiative launched by Modi. In February, Ringing Bells launched Freedom 251. However, it ran into trouble after Kirit Somaiya, leader of India’s leading political party BJP, filed a formal complaint against the company for allegedly violating India’s IT Act for being dishonest with its product claims. Somaiya had alleged that it was impossible for a smartphone manufacturer to price a phone at US$4 without carrier subsidies. In February, he described Freedom 251 as a ponzi scheme. link : https://sg.news.yahoo.com/don-t-laugh-indian-company-just-launched-world-044024944.html

Uncle Syed helps out . . . . . Stomper Sufian shared how his uncle Syed and aunt had an unforgettable, once-in-a-lifetime experience when they helped a woman deliver a baby in their car today (Jul 22). Syed had recounted the incident -- which occurred at around 9.40am -- on Facebook, which Sufian alerted Stomp to. In a phone interview with Stomp, Syed said that he had been seeing a doctor at Bukit Panjang and was about to leave, when he and his wife noticed the pregnant woman lying by the side of the road. She was experiencing labour pains. The woman's husband then told Syed that they were waiting for a cab to get them to the hospital. However, they were either ignored or turned down by taxi drivers despite having waited for an hour. Syed then offered to drive the couple to Singapore General Hospital (SGH). In his Facebook post, he described how he tried rushing them to the hospital. Due to the morning traffic, they were unable to reach their destination on time, and the woman ended up giving birth to a girl in Syed's car. "A new life was born inside MY car," wrote Syed in his Facebook post. He also praised his wife for pushing aside her fear of blood and dislike of "slimy substances" to help the woman deliver her baby. Syed told Stomp, "We were so happy and thankful when the baby started to cry," adding that they had been worried for the baby's condition. "The husband didn't know what to say other than thank you, and I told him it's okay as long as both mother and baby were safe." Syed, his wife and the couple reached SGH about 15 minutes later, where both mother and daughter received medical attention. Sufian told Stomp:
