  1. [extract] Japanese automakers often offer us consumers with quirky looking cars. On top of that, Japanese automakers produce something that no other country does and that is Kei cars. At current regulations, Kei cars should not exceed 3.4m in length, 1.48m in width and 2m in height. The engine
  2. [extract] The charm of the Chinese ladies is undeniable. In the showbiz, we have the beautiful Fan Bing Bing, international movie star Zhang Zi Yi and Aaron Kwok
  3. The Mazda MX-5 is one terrific compact roadster but many have commented that it is a little lacking on horsepower. The current generation delivers around 170bhp and 190Nm of torque. For those who felt that the MX-5 is a little lacking in power; would a more powerful and more sporty-looking version appeal to you? Then sit back and read on. Mazda is bringing its MX-5 GT Concept to the 2012 Goodwood Festival of Speed which starts on the 28th of June to the 01st of July. The Mazda MX-5 GT Concept will be on display throughout the festival on Mazda's stand, as well as taking part in the hill climb in the 'First Glance' category. Mazda is said to be debuting the car, a right-hand drive model, in order to gauge public reaction towards it. There might be a chance for the car to go into production and it all depends on the public. The MX-5 GT Concept is hugely based on the company
  4. Lamborghini has been seeing great profits with popularity from models like the refreshed Gallardo and its many variants, its latest flagship the "A vent and a door" and increasing demand from upcoming markets like China, Russia, India. Heck even in our 'puny' sunny tropics, all 60 units allocated to Lamborghini Singapore have already been taken up until the third quarter of 2012. So what lies ahead for the raging bull? We look into the e-crystal ball and here's our findings. Aventador A topless Aventador, the Aventador Roadster is expected to debut at the Detroit auto show in January, featuring a targa top, that will be easier to use than the Murcielago
  5. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LvPYvz8Ioh8 It seemed only yesterday when the Mk 6 Golf was launched. The existing Golf was a milestone model for the Volkswagen Group as it heralds a new corporate face for the brand, which is now commonly seen on the Jetta, Passat, Tiguan, etc. Now, the Mk 6 Golf is moving one step closer to retirement as the seventh-generation Golf GTI prototype has been caught testing around the Nurburgring. Of more interest to motoring enthusiasts would be the rumour that the hot hatch could churn out as much as 260bhp according to Autocar Magazine. This is much higher than the 220 bhp to 230bhp range that was originally expected. Perhaps, VW thought that they should step up their game as the Koreans are already generating 274bhp from a 2.0-litre turbocharged unit. If the rumour proved to be true, this would mean that the Golf R's replacement, which in its current form has a 266hp from a 2.0L turbo, would get well over 300bhp. More importantly, the front differential will get a new set up prevent wheel spin from the car
  6. Late last year, Mini revealed a quirky looking concept known as the Rocketman. It was smaller in size compared to the Mini hatchback and it was ideal for urban dwellers. But soon after the Rocketman Concept was released, Mini had to place the idea on the shelf. This was mainly due to the overall size of the Rocketman which said to cause handling and stability issues. With the announcement of Mini releasing a revised Mini Rocketman concept for the London Olympics, there is a possibility that the concept is due for a return. The new edition of the concept car sees Mini reaffirming its commitment to the brand's British roots. The new Mini Rocketman Concept wears its British heritage on its sleeve, most prominently in its exterior and interior colour schemes and more subtly through the use of extremely high-quality materials and stylish details. All in all, it embodies a typically British form of sporting elegance. The colours of the Union Jack, looks prominent on both the outside and inside of the car; where red and white accents accompanies the dominant dark blue. The body's non-metallic paintwork is interspersed with exposed carbon components at the front end and around the doors. And the 18-inch light-alloy wheels have white polished areas and a metallic red accent. Matt Porcelain White paintwork is also used for the mirror caps, boot opener and surrounds for the radiator grille and headlights. The grille structure, made up of MINI logos, could certainly be described as eye catching, thanks to its red metallic paint finish and contrasting white surround. A red strip emphasises the path of the hallmark MINI diagonal link between the wheel arch and door at the foot of the A-pillar. This takes a particularly chunky form on the concept car and also makes a feature of the door hinges. The two-section split boot opening consists of one upward-pivoting element and a second segment which extends out of the body in the form of a drawer and which is also painted blue on the inside in the new Mini Rocketman Concept. The rear lights have a trapezoidal stirrup design and work using projector technology. Another special feature is the distinctive lighting design for the roof. The concept car has a full-surface glass roof, where illuminated braces recreate the look of Britain's Union Jack flag. The interior of the car exudes a sporting ambience, while intricate details emphasise the car's connection to London. The inner door panels and rear side sections are trimmed in dark blue nubuck leather, while the familiar MINI elliptical door rings provide an effective contrast with their white leather. The circular surrounds for features such as the air vents, door pulls and stereo speakers are split into two sections and consist of a red inner ring and white outer ring. The exposed carbon elements in the interior accentuate the Mini Rocketman Concept's high-tech character and are incorporated into its colour scheme. For example, the blue paintwork used for the dashboard merges smoothly into black around the steering wheel, producing a harmonious flow of colour into the dark carbon surfaces. The most distinctive element of the dashboard is the cockpit surface, which is bordered by a red bar and has a striking 3D effect. Its relief structure depicts the name of every host city of the summer Olympic Games in the modern era using artistically intricate lettering, with London given particularly prominent billing. The seat surfaces blend blue nubuck leather with an innovative textile fibre. The upper sections of the seats' side bolsters, which provide additional support under dynamic cornering, are made from a rubberised material whose composition takes its cues, in terms of both style and function, from high-performance sports textiles and shoes. The seat belts also share the dark blue tone of the seat surfaces, while thin red and white strips add extra flourishes. The new design of the Mini Rocketman Concept also displays its sporting spirit, Brit-chic style and eye for extravagant details through the range of sophisticated accessories for the interior. The stowage compartment on the centre console between the driver and front passenger symbolises a basketball court with miniature players. The key fob for the new concept car, meanwhile, comes in the form of a rocket decked out in British national colours. Other interior features include a rucksack attached behind the front passenger seat, which is made from the same rubberised material used for the seat bolsters and also sports the three-dimensional cockpit motif. The new edition of the Mini Rocketman Concept cuts an unquestionably British and an unmistakably Mini automobile. Designed to welcome the athletes taking part in the "greatest sporting show on earth" to London this summer, the new edition of the concept car underlines the central role played by typically Mini customisation in every new product idea from the brand. 7. Over the years I have seen some new or returning car companies to have a slice of the supercar pie. We have Spyker, Pagani, Bugatti, Corn-in-a-sack (Koenigsegg), GTA Spano and Marussia. In a growing yet, small market where only millionaires, people of Monaco and Oil-Reach Arabians (Among others) can actually own these cars, is it really feasible to open a super car company? Well if you have money as much as Bruce Wayne and Tony Stark and the motivation, why not? Case in point, an upstart called Vencer, from the Netherlands. The Sarthe is the first product from the company, and is named after the French countryside circuit where the 24 Hours of Le Mans is contested. Much like any other supercar the Sarthe has a steel tube frame with a mid-engined V8 covered in carbon fiber bodywork The design looks very much inspired by science and the wind tunnel rather than, art and has resembles the McLaren F1 from certain angles. It seems to have an output of 500bhp and reach 100km/h in 3.8 seconds and hit a top speed of 323km/h.
  8. Skoda's new compact sedan, the Rapid, has been caught naked on the Nurburgring with testers pushing the car to the limit. The crucial new model will slot into the Czech automaker's global portfolio between the Fabia and Octavia, and will play a lead role in its ambitious plans to almost double global sales by 2018. Based on the MissionL design concept and looking like a downsized Octavia, the car is expected to compete against the likes of the Mazda3 and Ford Focus. It is likely that the car will be built on a stretched Volkswagen Polo underpinnings rather than the larger Golf platform. You may ask if the Rapid will cannibalize on the sales of the Octavia. That is the question on my mind too. According to Matthew Wiesner, Director of Skoda Australia, the company planned to grow the Octavia into a true medium-size car to better take on the likes of the Ford Mondeo and Volkswagen Passat. But does that mean Skoda will upsize the Superb or do away with the nameplate? No one has that answer now. The new Rapid will be revealed this summer with its world premiere to take place at the 2012 Paris Motor Show in September before it goes on sale across Europe this fall. Other parts of the world would get it in 2013. Expect the car to be powered by a range of 1.2-litre to 1.4-litre TSI engines with DSG transmission. MissionL Concept
  9. After several rendered leaks on the internet, Renault has finally revealed the much awaited Alpine A110-50 concept car. The car will make its debut during the 2012 Monaco Grand Prix. The Alpine A110-50 is a tribute to the 50th anniversary of the legendary Alpine Renault A110 Berlinetta rumours are that the car will mark the return of the Alpine brand. The Alpine A110-50 concept adopts much of its styling from another Renault concept car which is the Renault DeZir that was showcased during the 2010 Paris Motor Show. The reason why Renault borrowed much of the DeZir's styling instead of creating something similar to the A110 Berlinetta is due to the fact that they do not want to create a retro-styled show car. The engine used in the Alpine A110-50 is a 3.5-litre 24-valve V6 engine that generates around 400bhp at 7200 rpm and 412Nm of torque at 6200rpm. Additional performance figures were not released by Renault but the automaker has indicated that power is sent to the rear wheels through an F1-styled sequential gearbox with six forward gears. The driver can change gears with the shift paddles, mounted behind the steering wheels. A limited slip differential is installed into the car but it does not have modern driving aids such as ABS and ESP. Braking is assured by six piston callipers at the front and four piston callipers at the rear. The A110-50

The one-off extremely b.e.a.u.-tiful BMW Zagato Coupe blends design characteristics of the two companies, almost perfectly through many hours of hand-craftsmanship. To be unveiled at the Concorso d'Eleganza Villa d
  11. The Lamborghini Urus SUV concept debuted at the 2012 Beijing Auto Show with much anticipation and the car proved to be a big hit for the Italian automaker. The concept garnered much attention from all corners of the automotive industry; from enthusiasts up to rival auto companies. Lamborghini has mentioned that the car is pretty much on track for production but anyone who is interested in it has to wait until 2017, at the earliest. The reason for the delay is because the company has set some ambitious targets and this was revealed by Lamborghini
  12. [extract] Sports utility vehicles are gaining much popularity in the past five years, especially crossovers. While other automakers are churning out SUV models one after another, Volkswagen currently has only two models which are the Tiguan and Touareg. Its subsidiary, Audi, currently has three SUV models with three more planned in the near future and this made Volkswagen
  13. Jaguar has an idea for an electric roadster that would blend classic lines with modern aerodynamics and cutting-edge energy feedback. The idea is to revive the timeless design language of the stunning E-type of the 1960s while integrating new aerodynamics tailored around an electric powerplant. Being an EV, the designers could concentrate more on aerodynamics due to smaller dimensions of the engine and flexibility of the battery's placement. The result is widening the side deflectors of the front intakes, allowing air to flow behind the front wheels. The air then slides along the doors, through the rear wheels and out from the huge rear openings. This results in a reduction in the total flow path and drag. The leaping jaguar logo is the inspiration for the profile, with aggressively styled front headlights. A cool feature are the folding side mirrors that disappear into the body and unfold once it turns on, besides a KERS like regenerative power system. Almost 60 percent of energy used by a car at highway speeds are spent countering air friction. As such a layer of microscopic ripples of piezoelectric cells, covers the body of the XKX concept which produces electricity that it feeds to the vehicle's battery. I like the idea Jaguar has implemented to improve aerodynamics as much as possible, but I wouldn't call the car exactly a looker. Also, personally I do not see any resemblance to the beautiful Jaguar E-Type besides the mild bulge on the hood. What do you guys think?

  17. [extract] Rumors regarding the all new baby CLS has been circulating online for quite some time. The Concept Style Coupe (CSC) is said to be slightly larger than the current C-Class and borrows design elements from the F 800 Style Concept and the A-Class concept. Certain design details such as the sexy side mirrors and the 21-inch five-spoke wheels probably won
  18. [extract] When I first laid my eyes on the new Fisker Atlantic design prototype, it simply took my breath away. I personally feel, that this is the most promosing four door coupe to date among all in the same category, including the likes of Audi and Mercedes Benz. The Atlantic is presented at a special event before its world premiere at the New York Auto Show on 4 April 12. The Atlantic will be Fisker
  19. Honda has important plans for China over the next few years, as it aims to widen its range offered. It will introduce more than 10 brand new or redesigned models from 2013 to 2015 besides increasing local production capacity. Aside from the CR-Z, Insight and Fit hybrids that will be launched in China this year, the company will also debut two new concepts. With no official details of the concepts, a pair of sketches that outline the shape of a minivan and a sedan model have been released. From the sketches it looks like a China specific Odyssey and Accord, possibly featuring a hybrid powertrain Honda will also bring its luxury arm, Acura with the ILX, RDX, and the all-new NSX Concept. The ILX and RDX will be introduced to the Chinese market later this year. Honda plans to further strengthen Acura's product lineup in China with the 2013 RLX flagship sedan similar to the model on display at the New York Auto Show. Starting from next year, Acura will introduce models with new, smaller displacement powertrains, due to large demand in China. Honda is also considering establishing a new design studio in China and added that in July, the second plant of Dongfeng Honda will begin productions. The brand's other partner, Guangqi, is proceeding with a plan to build its third line and is aiming to begin production on this new line in 2014.
  20. It looks like the Land Rover Defender will keep soldering on in its current state for another 500 years so at the rate things are going. This to me is not a bad thing as I still think that nothing, other than the Toyota Land Cruiser can go against it in an off-road duel. I truly love the Defender, ridiculous driving position, overall lack of refinement and all. Anyway, Land Rover has more or less decided that the purported replacement for the Defender, the DC100 concept is now a new model that would slot in below the Land Rover Freelander instead of replacing the Defender. Somehow I believe this has happened because the strong positive reaction from the public at the motorshow previews was from the Victoria and David Beckhams instead of Farmer Brown, Bob the Builder, Winnie the Pooh and other citizens of the Thousand Acre Wood. What was thought as a concept car to show off how the future Land Rover Defender is now going to be Land Rover's new entry level road going model. How ironic. Ironic as it was supposed to replace the ultimate off-road vehicle in the eyes of many people. The DC100 could now be based on the Range Rover Evoque platform and become Land Rover's rival to the Mini Countryman and the Nissan Juke
  21. Such a move is common in the industry nowadays. A good example is Volkswagen
