  2. New BIG SUV Concepts from KIA, even though I doubt it will make it to Singapore and most likely be a US version, but I like where KIA is heading towards in terms of innovation and technology with fine designs that us usually only found in branded German vehicles. Ever since they brought onboard key top designers+Engineers from Audi and various other European marques, creating desirable vehicles and designs that lasts. Check out these teasers! Big SUV from Kia Teaser http://www.autoblog.com/2016/01/05/kia-fullsize-suv-detroit-teaser/ Big SUV Dashboard, Telluride, from Kia Teaser http://www.autoblog.com/2016/01/08/kia-telluride-teaser-detroit/
  3. Just revealed. We are likely seeing what's ahead for the CX5's successor or a hint of the upcoming CX9 in a downsized version. I like what I see and I pray it turns into reality, at least much of it. Enjoy.
  4. Is this VW's answer to Merc AMG A45? http://www.worldcarfans.com/114042173778/volkswagen-golf-r-400-concept-going-into-production---report Volkswagen's head of research and development has reportedly confirmed plans to build a production version of the Golf R 400 concept. There's no word on when the car will be launched but Car & Driver says the news comes directly from Heinz-Jakob Neusser. As refresher, the Golf R 400 has a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that has been tuned to produce 400 PS (294 kW) and 450 Nm(332 lb-ft) of torque - an increase of 100 PS (73 kW) and 70 Nm (51 lb-ft). It is connected to a six-speed DSG transmission and a 4MOTION all-wheel drive which enables the 1,420 kg (3,130 lb) hatchback to accelerate from 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) in 3.9 seconds, before hitting an electronically-limited top speed of 174 mph (280 km/h).
  5. This is the coupe concept version for the US market. But I think you can get some style clues on how the sedan version would look like: Sketches of the sedan version:
  6. Toyota has revealed a radical high-riding sports coupe concept ahead of its official unveiling at the Paris motor show next week. The Japanese brand has released two images but limited details of its C-HR concept, a car that is said to preview a new compact SUV destined for production. While its sleek three-door body hints at what a jacked-up next-generation Toyota 86 could look like, the C-HR is bound to be a more conventional five-door when it eventually becomes showroom ready as a model to sit below the popular RAV4 and a rival for the likes of the Nissan Juke, Peugeot 2008 and Renault Captur. It has yet to confirm full details on the car's mechanical underpinnings or powertrain, but says it will feature a hybrid powerplant and introduce a new "diamond architecture" styling theme. It says the C-HR's soft overall form is contrasted by definitive crease lines "to represent the faceted surfaces of a highly-durable, precision-cut gemstone". Although Toyota says the C-HR shares the mechanics of a Prius, it hasn't yet revealed much in the way of technical details. Only three basic dimensions of the two-door vehicle are specified: a length of 4350mm, a width of 1500mm and height of 2640mm. This suggests that this future SUV will be smaller than the current Toyota RAV4.
  7. It is evident that Honda designers have lost their way. Didnt they learn from the Civic lessons? Mazda is doing a much better job. The Spririor which is the successor to the wildly successfully Honda Accord JDM: The Concept B which I think would be the next Civic:
  8. Bentley is envisioning a powerful and even more efficient future with the Bentley Hybrid Concept – a technology showcase that previews Bentley’s first plug-in hybrid model, set to be a dedicated version of the all-new SUV available in 2017. The Bentley Hybrid Concept will be on display at the Beijing International Automotive Exhibition on Sunday 20th April. As the first luxury brand to present a plug-in hybrid, Bentley leads the way in bringing new powertrain choice to the luxury automotive sector. Dr Wolfgang Schreiber, Chairman and Chief Executive of Bentley Motors, comments: “There is no doubt that plug-in hybrid technology is true to Bentley’s values of outstanding luxury and effortless performance. Combining our renowned engines with electric power reinforces and enhances both principles, and so we will gradually introduce this powertrain across our model range. By the end of the decade, at least 90% of our production will be available as a plug-in hybrid. We are proud to be pioneering these developments in the luxury sector.” The Bentley Plug-in Hybrid System Through Bentley’s hybrid system, customers will have a wider choice of modern, powerful and efficient powertrains. The plug-in hybrid system will offer a power increase of up to 25% together with a 70% reduction in CO2 emissions, both without any compromise to the exquisite luxury, timeless design and industry-leading refinement for which Bentley has become renowned. Bentley hybrids will also be capable of driving at least 50 km on electric power alone, allowing for emissions-free city driving with the option of enhanced performance on the open road. The Bentley Hybrid Concept The Bentley Hybrid Concept is based on the flagship model in the Bentley family, the Mulsanne, to show that hybrid technology enhances even the pinnacle of luxury and performance. Copper is used as an exterior and interior styling element to highlight the car’s electrical veins, including copper details to the headlamps, radiator shell bezel, brake calipers, feature line details and badges. Copper accents continue in the cabin, with inserts to the hand-crafted veneers fascias, switch bezels and instruments. Copper cross‑stitching to the Mulliner Driving Specification diamond-quilted interior provides the finishing flourish.

  10. Walmart revealed earlier Sunday afternoon (Feb 17, 2014) its WAVE Concept semi trailer. WAVE stands for Walmart Advanced Vehicle Experience and introduces the concept of a fuel efficient next generation semi-trailer that may in fact power the flow of goods and services for Walmart products and possibly the rest of the United States flow of commerce. The WAVE concept is the latest of Walmart fleet efficiency program. With over 7000 trucks, Walmart's fleet of vehicles provides a large opportunity to increase fuel efficiency across the board and set an example for the rest of the big box stores. First of all, the Wave concept truck has an advanced, one of a kind, set of aerodynamics that sets it apart from any semi-trailer on the road today. With its hybrid powertrain entirely underneath the cab, the front end design isn't dictated by a large internal combustion engine. The cab itself sits atop its powertrain and offers a sleek wind tunnel designed front drivers window that offers a commanding view of the road. The entire cab is tapered to blend into the trailer itself, which at fifty-three feet long, is entirely made out of carbon fibre paneling (an industry first). All this carbon fibre saves around two whole tons, which can go towards hauling more goods and services. Powering this technological tour-de-force is a Capstone Turbine engine coupled to an electrical powertrain. Capstone Turbines is a California based gas turbine manufacturer that specializes in microturbine power along with heating and cooling cogeneration systems. Key to the Capstone design is its use of foil bearings, which provides maintenance and fluid-free operation for the lifetime of the turbine and reduces the system to a single moving part. This also eliminates the need for any cooling or other secondary systems.Their light weight, small size, and quick starting time make them ideal as "instant-on" backup power to recharge the main batteries. An example of a hybrid vehicle is the Capstone CTM-380, with a 30 kW gas turbine generator running on diesel, that recharges Li-Poly batteries when necessary. The CMT-380 has a proposed range of 80 miles on battery alone, but when combined with the micro turbine that range is pushed to over 500+ miles. With just a video announcement being the first the public has heard about this project, we’re all ears as to what Wal-Mart will do with such a revolutionary design. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jvt7ptICxSY
  11. Kia has shown its first rear-wheel drive sports car at the Detroit motor show. The GT4 Stinger was shown to the press as the brand’s potential rival for the Toyota 86 and Subaru BRZ. The GT4 Stinger is a 2+2, front-engined coupe powered by a 311bhp 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine taken from Kia’s Optima racecars. That makes it substantially more powerful than the Toyota, with its 197bhp, but like the 86, the Kia is focused on being a proper driver’s car. Hence, the 4.26-metre long coupe has been designed to weigh a mere 1315kg in production form, runs double wishbone suspension front and rear and doesn’t even have a radio. ‘The soundtrack comes from the engine and out of the exhaust,’ says the concept’s head designer. ‘Our whole approach has been to do something very simple and pure, but new looking,’ Kearns says. ‘It’s a very simple shape, so that was our thinking’. While strictly a concept, Kearns says that if it makes production, the GT4 will be cheaper than the GT-86, which starts at £25k. The GT4 would run a modified version of the Genesis platform, he suggests. ‘We’ve got to make it lighter and smaller to capture the essence of this concept, but I think it’s do-able,’ Kearns says. Most of the car is production viable, apart from the stacked LED headlights, which are too low for most country's regulations, while the viability of the see-through A-pillars hasn’t been evaluated either. Yet it’s not a pipedream or crazy concept. ‘We always imagine it [a concept] on the street,’ says Kia president, Peter Schreyer, ‘and that’s the same with this car’. The Detroit reveal was the first time Kia’s board has seen the car, according to Schreyer. ‘We have not done any feasibility on it, but my gut feeling is there’s nothing about it that’s not possible.’ It’s expected that the GT4 Stinger will be in showrooms in 2016 if it’s given the green light for production.
  12. Gazoo Racing revealed its GRMN Mark X concept at the 2014 Tokyo Auto Salon. Based on the Toyota Mark X, GRMN gave its handsome sedan a chunkier front bumper, a redesigned rear bumper with diffusers, revised side skirts and a rear lip spoiler. Completing the aggressive look is the new enhanced dual exhaust system, 19-inch aluminium wheels wearing Bridgestone Potenza RE050A tyres. Mechanically, this Mark X uses a 3.5-litre V6 that produces more than 320hp and 380Nm of torque and is linked to a six-speed manual transmission. Drive is sent to the rear wheels through a Torsen limited-slip differential. It is also said there are improvements made in the suspension and braking department. All these specifications sure point to a decent foundation for building a drift car. While the GRMN Mark X concept is not on sale yet, you could buy Toyota’s G sports Mark X which is available to buyers in Japan. Also aggressively styled, it has different bumpers and wheels as compared to the normal Mark X. We especially love the LED running headlights, new sports exhaust with quad exhaust and 19-inch wheels. The car has been also lowered 20mm with the help of a new sports suspension. The interior has also been spruced up with white gauges, black sports seats with red stitching and some carbon fibre trimmings. As with the regular Mark X, the car can only be had in a six-speed automatic transmission and is paired with either a 2.5-litre or 3.5-litre V6 which it shares with the Lexus GS saloon.
  13. While in Taipei, I was at a book store close to midnight, flipping some car magazines and saw this concept. Once you dock the phone, your phone gets charged and you can use the in dash touch screen to make phone calls, play youtube songs, use google maps etc. Is this a production reality on any car yet?
  14. I think finally they are realising that producing cheap looking cars with boring design doesnt sell, eg. The latest Civic. They have a new grille design too: ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- TOKYO, Japan, September 5, 2013 - Honda Motor Co., Ltd. announced a new design concept, "EXCITING H DESIGN!!!," that will be applied to all Honda automobiles globally to promote a more unique character and stronger presence around the world. New design concept: "EXCITING H DESIGN!!!" New design identity: "Solid Wing Face" The three exclamation marks in "EXCITING H DESIGN!!!" represent three design factors, namely "High Tech." which represents an innovative spirit, "High Tension" which represents the pursuit of a beautiful body structure and layout, and "High Touch" which represents finely-honed surfacing and texture. By incorporating these three factors into exterior and interior design, more unique and exciting Honda designs will be realized. This new design concept has been first applied to the all-new Fit model, with the application to be expanded in stages to other Honda vehicles around the world. Exterior design: High Tech. Honda's new design identity, "Solid Wing Face," is adopted. While positioning the "H" mark in the center, the area from the front grill to the headlights will be designed in an advanced style as one uninterrupted flow. High Tension A well-toned body with beautiful proportion, "Athlete Form," is realized. High Touch Honda strives to realize "Dramatic Surfacing," well-elaborated form that provides an emotional attraction. Interior design: High Tech. Honda pursues an easy-to-see/easy-to-use "Advanced Interface" by adopting advanced technologies. High Tension A sporty and emotional "Personal Cockpit" is realized. High Touch Honda expresses its "Craftsmanship" by creating thoughtful interiors with an emphasis on the texture of materials.
  15. Following a teaser released earlier, Ram has introduced the 1500 Rumble Bee Concept. The concept marks the 10th anniversary of the Rumble Bee, a popular model inspired by the Super Bee muscle car of the late 1960s. This muscle truck is based on a 2013 Ram 1500 Road/Track (R/T) and has a two-door, two-wheel drive setup with a matte 'Drone Yellow' paint. Both sides of the truck feature a new 'Speed Bee' design within a glossy black stripe which fades into the honeycomb. It sits on glossy 24-inch Vellano VRH alloys and has a two-inch lowered suspension courtesy of King Suspension. The dual-exhaust tailpipes, fuel door, badging, hood vents and front grille are in glossy black, adding on to the car's aggression. Traditional Rumble/Super Bee colours and graphics spread throughout the vehicle, including the Ram R/T-based interior that features black and 'Drone Yellow' leather sport mesh seats with two-tone yellow/light-grey stitching. 'Rumble Bee' lettering and Ram logos adorn chairs, floor mats and door bolsters. Now if you look closer - there is a real amber-encased bee mounted into the rotary gear knob, which will light up to expose a honeycomb pattern background. Is that weird or cool? There are also two buttons positioned below, which make the cat-back Mopar dual-exhaust system go from loud to louder. The unique honeycomb pattern is shared with the door trim and the dash, where a milled aluminum '10th Anniversary' commemorative badge serves as the truck's ID. Powering the 2013 Ram 1500 Rumble Bee Concept is a HEMI 5.7-litre engine mated to an eight-speed TorqueFlite automatic transmission delivering 395bhp and a peak torque of 551Nm. Talk about a huge-ass rumbling bee ramming your way..
  16. Pretty interesting. Lots of rumors came about regarding the possible revival of the ae86 and even an 8th gen celica. But, seems like rumors arent really stopping with toyota. Mit now has a new coupe concept. Pretty cool too. http://www.autoblog.com/photos/mitsubishi-concept-ra/507526/ ://http://www.autoblog.com/photos/mits...pt-ra/507526/ ://http://www.autoblog.com/photos/mits...pt-ra/507526/ ://http://www.autoblog.com/photos/mits...pt-ra/507526/ ://http://www.autoblog.com/photos/mits...pt-ra/507526/ ://http://www.autoblog.com/photos/mits...pt-ra/507526/ And, then the new 240sx. http://www.worldcarfans.com/9071127.009/ni...r-2010-comeback yum yum. Perfect for those who missed the boat for a new 200sx. Now can start to stock on money. By 2010, we would probably be very badly spoilt for choice.
  17. In 2011, Audi presented the Quattro Concept, the final production version of which has yet to come. But now, it seems that the German automaker is finally ready to take the wraps off the final production version when the 1984 Audi Sport Quattro celebrates its 30th anniversary. Rumour has it that the final version will look sportier as well as sharper than the Quattro Concept. It's also said that the final version of the car will carry a twin-turbo 4.0-litre V8 engine. Capable of producing a total power output of 650bhp, the car will seemingly take only 3.4 seconds to go from 0-100km/h. The Quattro Concept, however, had to count on a turbocharged 2.5-litre five-cylinder engine with a total power output of 408bhp. In addition to a powerful V8 engine, the successor to the Audi Sport Quattro will also feature a sports tuned suspension with adaptive dampers, a sports Quattro rear differential, and carbon-ceramic brakes. To keep things light, Audi will be using such components as aluminium, magnesium, and carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP). In total, the car won't weigh over 1,300kg. If you are keen on seeing the car with your very own eyes, you may want to anticipate the upcoming Frankfurt Motor Show as the German automaker is likely to show it there. And, if all the rumoured specifications turn out to be true in the end, expect to see a price tag of around
  18. Just found the voucher from a group purchase site, expiring 26th Feb. How is this shop? Alright? A little far from my place, no sure if worth my effort going all the way there for the grooming.
  19. Just to refresh your memory, at the 2009 Detroit Motor Show, the German automaker Volkswagen (VW) displayed its BlueSport roadster concept. Unfortunately, not long afterwards, VW postponed the project. Some early reports mentioned that the reason production of the roadster was postponed was because the German automaker didn't see a business opportunity for the model while I would say otherwise. The car looks attractive and that, alone, should be able to attract quite a few customers already. Add that with quite an affordable price tag for a roadster, you may be surprised by the number of people interested in spending their cash on the model. Yet, rumours have been swirling on the internet with some still believing that the roadster will finally come to life. I, for one, would like to see the open-top model comes into production. Despite the various rumours on the World Wide Web, there's now a bigger chance that the VW BlueSport will actually hit our showrooms within the near future. At least, this seems to be what Walter de Silva is trying to tell us, although not so explicitly. The VW Design Chief told AMS, "I'm not the only one in our company who is convinced that a small roadster wouldn't be the worst thing for Volkswagen. This is a vehicle that we particularly like, and we always have in mind." Well, I agree with you, de Silva, I like the open-top very much, too. Therefore, it's nice to know that there're still some insiders in VW that would like to move on with this particular project. Moreover, it was confirmed by one of the German automaker's spokesperson. Just in case you can't really recall, the VW BlueSport roadster concept carried a 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine when it debuted at the 2009 Detroit Auto Show. The engine is good enough to spit out 177bhp in addition to 349Nm of torque. Volkswagen claimed that the fuel consumption of the roadster could reach 23.2km/L, which is quite efficient in my opinion. The company also mentioned that the car would need only 6.6 seconds to reach 100km/h from a complete standstill. Also, expect no less than 225km/h when it comes to the top speed of the car. Given its model and engine specifications, I'd say the BlueSport concept may well be slotted under such brands as Porsche and Audi. Yet again, perhaps it doesn't really matter as both the brands belong to VW as well. Now that the VW BlueSport roadster may finally come to life, here's hoping that VW won't forget to ship the model to the showrooms here in Singapore as well. By the way, the roadster is estimated to cost around USD$30,000 (around S$37,000). As I said earlier, it's quite affordable for a roadster, isn't it? The only drawback so far that I can think of about this roadster is probably its roof. I think it would have been better if VW applied a hardtop, but perhaps, the softtop is a better solution for the current estimated price tag of the roadster.
  20. Infiniti is the luxury car division under the Japanese automaker Nissan and as of Tuesday, 30th April 2013, Hong Kong citizens, especially those Infiniti fans out there, could be grateful as Infiniti has officially opened its first showroom in the country. Known as the Infinity Gallery, the showroom was officially opened by Johan de Nysschen, President, Infiniti Motor Company Ltd., and Donald Yip, CEO, Dah Chong Hong Limited. Dah Chong Hong Limited is a local dealership that Infiniti has partnered in Hong Kong. The opening of the showroom saw the Essence, the latest sleek concept car from Infiniti, receiving the spotlight. For your information, the Infiniti Essence was also introduced to the public for the very first time in China. Besides the concept car, the showroom opening also saw a famous local actress and model, Jennifer Tse in the spotlight, posing right next to the car. According to Nysschen, the opening of the Infinity Gallery marked Infiniti's latest milestone that with a total of 50 markets all over the world. This first ever Infiniti showroom in Hong Kong is situated at 10 Harcourt Road, G/F Hutchinson House, near Hong Kong's business centre. So, for those that live in Hong Kong, what are you waiting for? Start visiting the Infinity Gallery now.
  21. We know that the MPV market in China is dominated by commercial vehicles instead of passenger cars. Honda sees this, too, which is why it's developed the Honda Concept M. Sketched by Honda designers at Honda's Automobile R&D Centre in the land of the rising sun, the Honda Concept M has been developed mainly for the Chinese market and has now been officially launched in the 2013 Shanghai Auto Show. According to Honda, the Concept M is a next generation MPV that will offer an added value by realising a spacious as well as comfortable cabin. The Honda Concept M looks sporty and futuristic in front. It sports a pair of slanted headlamps and a large front grille that extends to the front bumper and is surrounded by chrome accents. A sporty design can also be sensed from the design of the front bumper. On its sides, the body curves and sloping roofline make the car look dynamic. In addition to that, its side mirrors sport a futuristic slim design. Last but not least, the sharp edges on the rims emphasise the sportiness of the car even further. At the rear, the car looks luxurious with its combination taillights that are likely to feature LED bulbs. Honda has also equipped the car with a rear roof spoiler. Just like the front fascia, the rear also gets treated with chrome accents. The Japanese automaker is planning to release the car next year. Unfortunately, aside from that, Honda is currently pretty tight lipped regarding the details of the Honda Concept M. As for now, you may want to watch the video below to see the car in action.
  22. Targeting the younger people aging somewhere around their twenties in China, the Friend-ME Concept is Nissan's approach for decades to come that may give other automakers a run for their money. Nissan claims that the car has been designed for those who have a very distinctive automotive outlook. The reason why Nissan is targeting youths is because Nissan believes it will shape the global automotive trend in the decades to come. This was revealed by Nissan's Advanced Planning and Product Strategy Division General Manager, Fancois Bancon. Looking at the design of the car, there's nothing wrong for Nissan to be proud of its Friend-ME Concept. Sporting both flowing and edgy lines, the car is able to sit four passengers altogether in a spacious and comfortable cabin. Speaking of the cabin, it's here that all the main attractions lie. Featuring a cockpit-like cabin, the car enables all the passengers inside to access everything the car has to offer. This is an unconventional approach that we aren't likely to get with other cars, at least not for now. According to Nissan, this is possible thanks to its console that the company considers to be kind of like an 'Oracle Stone'. With the so-called 'Oracle Stone', everyone inside (not just the driver) the car will be able to have a look at the road in front of them, access music, navigation, speed, and a lot more. As we mentioned earlier, this is something that other cars can't offer us at present. Nissan said, "Our console is like an Oracle Stone that gives the Friend-ME crew the power to look down the road ahead, over the horizon, through walls
  23. Just a couple of weeks ago, Mitsubishi teased us with images of its new compact sedan. It came with four doors and it seemed to be only as big as, if not smaller than, the Chevrolet Sonic or the Renault Symbol. However, the wait is over and now, we've finally got to see what the latest compact sedan from Mitsubishi will actually look like. Planned to bow at the 2013 Shanghai Auto Show, official images of the car have spread across the World Wide Web. The car is to be called the G4 Concept at the automotive exhibition in China that will take place later this April. According to the Japanese automaker where the car comes from, the Mitsubishi G4 Concept will feature high clarity diamond headlamps and front grille that are cut brilliantly. In addition to that, Mitsubishi also claims that the rear combination taillights will have a sharp impression left behind as the car heads away out of sight. Judging from the images, the exterior of the Mitsubishi G4 Concept looks sporty somehow with the sporty front bumper design, side skirts, and a sporty rear bumper. There's also a spoiler trunk lid featuring a highly mounted (seemingly LED) brake lamp. The automaker is planning to sell this model globally so we should also see one on our shores when it's finally marketed. If you're curious about what it has under its hood, well, the model will feature a MIVEC engine with a displacement capacity of 1,200cc. It will be mated to a CVT transmission and the body of the car will be equipped with RISE (Reinforced Impact Safety Evolution) technology. Well, it's up to Mitsubishi to claim that the car will leave a sharp impression. Yet, from what we've seen on the images, there's just too much blue on it. The headlamps feature a blue colour and so do the front grille, front fog lamps, and even the rear combination taillights. Honestly, it looks kind of tacky.
