  1. Lots of missing context in this one. Nonetheless an interesting watch. What happened? On 11 September 2023, at Yishun (again??) Avenue 6, an altercation broke out between a food delivery rider and a BMW driver. According to the Facebook post, the BMW driver was “closely following” the rider before the incident, saying that “the traffic light signalled”. How specific! Because the traffic light definitely doesn’t have multiple signals, each with VERY different meanings. But we’ll assume the light turned green. Why else would someone “impatiently honk”? Unfortunately for the driver, the rider was apparently infuriated. This led to the shouting and various gestures seen in the video, though the camera was too far away to really record what was said clearly. Oddly enough, the rider seems like a decent person, as they apologised to a driver in the lane besides and waved them through. So either: a) The rider is a bit sensitive and might have taken too long, prompting the BMW to honk. b) The BMW driver was tailgating and is indeed in the wrong and anyhow honk because they cannot wait. Let’s see what the comments think. Online chatter Obligatory “Yishun” comments out of the way first. The general sentiment is that people are siding with the driver, though considering the demographic on Facebook, there’s definitely some bias there. Some just joined in to vent their frustration on cyclists. ========= Be the first to get the latest road/ COE news and get first dibs on exclusive promos and giveaways in our Telegram SGCM Community. 2. This is probably the most civil confrontation I’ve ever seen, while keeping a mildly aggressive edge. What happened? A confrontation took place at Defu Lane when an uncle did not park properly. The video immediately opens with the person behind the camera asking “How many lots did you park in?” in Chinese. Credit to the uncle, he asked the person recording to follow him to his parking spot, saying “I don’t want to argue”. The aggrieved recorder however was still upset, as he could not open his door due to how he parked. The uncle maintained a very calm attitude, maintaining his refusal to argue by coming to his spot. This caused a “bro moment”, as both parties were temporarily “steady” and agreeing not to argue. Alas, when they finally arrived to the lot, we found that the uncle indeed did not park properly as his Nissan Sentra was taking up two lots. The uncle did try to explain himself but the video cut off before he could complete it. However, I do think it’s not entirely his fault. We can see that the car had a shorter parking lot compared to others, and was between 2 trucks. It was likely an attempt to avoid being hit by either just in case, as he seems too civil about the accusation. Online Chatter A few people wanted to hear how the uncle would explain his way out of this one. And regardless of his reasons, people still noted he did not park properly. And if you’re in the wrong on the internet, prepare for the wave of criticism. ========= Be the first to get the latest road/ COE news and get first dibs on exclusive promos and giveaways in our Telegram SGCM Community. 3. TL;DR - Suzuki Vitara squares up to cam car after abruptly changing lanes at Punggol. So who needs to go for their refresher course? Watch this 79-second video of this face-off. What happened? The cam car submitted this footage claiming that the Vitara driver wasn’t happy that he filtered into his lane (even though he signaled his intention). The Vitara continued to tailgate and got out from his car to affront the cam car. The Vitara was allegedly behaving aggressively, demanding a response from the cam car on why he cut into his lane. Fearing the safety of his passengers, the cam car did not cave in and engage in a fight. But it is said that he will be making a police report on this situation. From the cam car’s POV, he felt that there was ample time and space for him to filter into the lane but the Vitara was making a mountain out of a molehill about it. Online Chatter Major plot twist when the cam car got pwned so badly in the comments section - his plan backfired big time man. Moral of the Story Not everyone who submits their cam car footage first is in the right. At least make sure the other party is 100% in the wrong before uploading your footage. Whilst others can make a mountain out of a molehill, you might just make yourself a laughing stock. ========= Be the first to get the latest road/ COE news and get first dibs on exclusive promos and giveaways in our Telegram SGCM Community. 4. TL;DR - This female Harrier driver double parked her car to go shopping at Clementi’s Sheng Siong supermarket, got unhappy when being called out. If you didn't already know, the popular term ‘Karen’ is used to describe an entitled and obnoxious middle-aged woman. This lady definitely hopped into the Year of the Rabbit as one. Watch this 41-second clip to see what I mean. What happened? This driver decided to park beside a row of vehicles already parked parallel to the curb, to go CNY shopping at Sheng Siong, blocking other cars from exiting the car park. When confronted, she was unapologetic and even said “I park here all the time, I can do whatever I want. You are not the police.” She then continued on with “It's Chinese New Year!” Not too sure what the link is but ok… Online Chatter I guess in her terms, Chinese New Year is the season to get a free pass of double parking… ========= Be the first to get the latest road/ COE news and get first dibs on exclusive promos and giveaways in our Telegram SGCM Community. 5. TL;DR - Cam car and BMW gets into a heated argument over trivial dispute and hurls vulgarities at each other incessantly. Want to brush up on your Hokkien? Learn from these two ‘laojiaos’! Watch this 6-minute video to see two men hurling profanities incessantly. Fierce. What happened? The cam-car reported that he was traveling along Yio Chu Kang when the BMW PHV cut into his lane abruptly. He honked at the driver to avoid collision (allegedly), but the BMW driver decided to point a rude gesture at the cam-car driver. Towards the exit of Braddell road, the BMW driver got out of his vehicle, to challenge the cam-car to a fight. Amid the confrontation, both parties started to spout Hokkien vulgarities and 'play mother' by insulting both mothers' v*ginas smelly (a common cuss in Hokkien). Online Chatter: The comments were pretty crude towards the cam-car, with many calling him out for not stepping out of his car even though he kept asking the bimmer to ‘lai lor an zua’ (Hokkien way to provoke a fight). ‘Humji’ level: 9000. Takeaway A little patience goes a long way. If you’re on the road, there’s bound to be road rage. But what is important is that we should always remind ourselves to give and take, pay it forward and exercise more forbearance on the road. ========= Be the first to get the latest road/ COE news and get first dibs on exclusive promos and giveaways in our Telegram SGCM Community. 6. TL;DR - A Malaysian-registered Toyota Alphard jumped in line and forced its way into a jam-packed lane at JB Checkpoint, causing his car to get scratched. The driver then demanded the cam car for compensation sparking an argument between both drivers. The New Year long weekend means more cars stuck at the causeway for a long time. But, that also means tempers will rise and the chances of a mishap occurring increases. To be honest, I would be surprised if the weekend went by without incident. Watch this 96-second road rage confrontation for one such incident. What happened? Footage of the incident showed that there were long snaking queues at the JB checkpoint as the cam car and a Malaysian registered Alphard approached the merging lane. The Alphard driver winded down his window to signal his intention of merging into the cam car’s lane. However, the cam car seemed to be caught off guard and thus, moved forward as well. This resulted in the Alphard grazing the front of the cam car. Undoubtedly, it sparked anger as the Alphard driver came out of his car to take picture proof of the cam car, and continued to display gestures of unhappiness. The driver allegedly demanded for compensation for the damage caused (but it is unclear how this incident was resolved). Online Chatter: Seems like netizens are faulting the Alphard driver for being a reckless driver. Takeaway Regardless, we should all be nice on the road - don't be so 'kanchiong'! All it takes is a little bit of graciousness and consideration from every road user. This kind thought will only slow you down for three seconds, but it will definitely save you from hours of anger afterwards. ========= Be the first to get the latest road/ COE news and get first dibs on exclusive promos and giveaways in our Telegram SGCM Community. 7. TL;DR: C-HR driver is unhappy cam car driver did not let him into lane, proceeds to brake-check, confront and attempt to cause accidents “When in the wrong, just continue heck care since already wrong once” a motto this crazy C-HR beng believes in. To get an idea of the madness involved, watch the following 3.5-minute clip: What started it From 0:55, we can see “King Ander” — as inscribed on the C-HR’s driver side window — wanting to switch into the cam car’s lane, since his lane is left-turn only. He’s already left a significant gap from the white Serena ahead, and doesn’t seem to have signalled right, since there are no flashes from his mirror-mounted indicators. The cam car driver is having none of “King Ander’s” entitlement, so he just drives on. Displeased, the C-HR encroaches into the cam car’s lane as an attempt at intimidation, to no avail. Just before approaching the junction, the C-HR finally turns on its right indicators. Seeing the road clear up ahead, it gives up trying to merge, driving straight on and squeezing out the cam car in the process. Tyrannical behaviour commences Not satisfied with getting ahead, the C-HR seizes the opportunity to “punish” the cam car, flooring it across some chevrons and abruptly cuts across 2 lanes, just to perform a double brake check. At least he remembered to use his signals this time. Having boxed the cam car in traffic, he gets out for a confrontation to act tough. Another angle of this beng’s mug taken by the cam car’s passenger, with profane gestures and all; certainly not behaviour befitting a king. Realising they have all sorts of incriminating evidence, he finally retreats to his car, but not before a final "dirty trick”. As the cam car switches lanes to distance itself, this tyrant attempts to force the cam car off the road right across 4 lanes beyond his own, before switching again to the next lane, all without signalling. All in, the 8 (at least) infractions included: Failure to signal intention (multiple) Failure to stay in lane Driving over chevrons Driving into an oncoming lane Brake-checking Stopping on a double zigzag Causing an obstruction Attempting to cause an accident Online reactions The majority of comments appear to condemn both parties, stating that the cam car driver was partly at fault for not giving way to “King Ander”, despite his lack of signalled intention early on. While in the minority, there were still a few condemning his actions. What do you think, should the cam car driver be more gracious even if he was entirely in the right, or was this C-HR beng wrong to bully even if he's "King (Ander)" of the road? 8. Road rage incidents are common, where we see cases of retaliation such as flashing signal lights or playing the braking game. I wouldn't want to be caught up in such a scenario as its unpleasant for everyone involved (some drivers thrive on this aggression however!). Just recently, another mini spat was captured on camera and was published for the world to see. Take a look below: Fierce meets fierce Let us recap the crucial parts. First, we see the driver driving as per usual, but the headlights illuminate a growing figure ahead. Judging from the screenshot, the speed of the car and the braking distance needed would have been incredibly stressful for the driver to. Scary. The driver honked as a warning, prompting the aggressive pedestrian to gesture angrily in return. Clearly, he thought he had right of way. Next thing you can see is the 'Angry Pedestrian' coming forward after a few choice vulgarities from the cam car. They both exchange more obscenities, and it ends with the pedestrian delivering a blow to the bonnet: Let the comments come! The netizens never fail to deliver, as usual. To be fair, the situation could have been avoided had the driver braked and not gone forward to rebuke the pedestrian. Sometimes turning the other cheek is the way to go. Some netizens made fun of the driver that was quick to run off after getting his car slapped. Guess his bark is worse than his bite after all! We see that the Causeway Lady's antics live on! Thankfully, the pedestrian did no such thing. We saved the best for the last: LOL! What you can control and what you cannot control Was the pedestrian acting recklessly and being unreasonable? Yes. Could the driver also have approached it better by simply braking and keeping mum? Yes, too! Sometimes the best way to proceed is to rein in your temper. Some problems are not that big once you step back to survey the full picture. Luckily, the situation did not escalate into one of extreme violence. ========= Be the first to get the latest road/ COE news and get first dibs on exclusive promos and giveaways in our Telegram SGCM Community. 9. Hello fellow drivers. Here's an interesting one for you today. Watch an uncle who acts like an LTA enforcement officer unlawfully stop a motorist in the video below. So what on earth happened? First, the ‘LTA Officer’ cuts the cam bike off dangerously on the road and then proceeds to overtake him while travelling along Toa Payoh Lor 2 at the entrance into PIE. He then almost swerved into the cam bike, nearly resulting in an accident. The cam bike then decided to horn at the officer, to which he responded by turning on his blinker light. The cam bike then decides to pull over after he claimed that the ‘officer’ had started shouting at him. That was when he attempted to confront the man following him. The ‘officer’ then started taking pictures of him at 1:19 of the video as well as threatening to write him up without coming up with a legitimate law that the cam bike had broken. On top of that, he also mentioned that he would “charge you double if you touch me”, given that he is a uniformed personnel. After repeated attempts at trying to diffuse the situation to no avail, the driver of the cam bike decided to leave. Nonetheless, the ‘officer’ persisted and even followed the cam bike driver. The cam bike driver then felt like something was off and decided to take his details before leaving immediately. If you did not already know, LTA enforcement officers would have vehicles with LTA in their license plates. Likewise, Traffic Police would have TP in their license plates. What's FBL? A nobody. That's what. Above is what a bike belonging to the Traffic Police is supposed to look like. What on earth is he doing trying to act like he’s traffic police? Netizen Comments Netizens give their take on the situation witnessed as above. People who abuse their authority should definitely get reported. Getting sacked does seem to be an appropriate punishment! This so-called ‘officer’ definitely needs to be written up. There’s no way he should be able to get away scot-free with this kind of behaviour. ========= Be the first to get the latest road/ COE news, and get first dibs on exclusive promos and giveaways in our Telegram SGCM Community. 10. A cam car instigates a feud with a Toyota Camry driver by flashing his high beam at his car. The Toyota Camry retaliates by tailgating, horning and flashing his high beam at the cam car. Watch the video for yourself below: The cam car had initially claimed that the Toyota Camry driver had cut him off without signalling at 0:01 of the video. Though from the screenshot, it seemed like there was ample safe distance between the Camry and the cam car. However, the only issue was that the Camry failed to signal before switching lanes. Moments later, the cam car flashes its high beam repeatedly, provoking the Camry driver. (At 0:07, with the audio turned on, the cam car's repeated flashing felt more like an abuse of the vehicle's high beam to me) In Singapore, the high beam is often used as a sign of displeasure at another driver’s poor road etiquette, such as the Camry driver’s failure to signal when changing lanes. The actions of the cam car enraged the Camry driver, and he started tailgating the cam car and also honked him for a good 20 seconds or so. Subsequently, the cam car performs several abrupt brake checks to indicate his displeasure, causing the Camry driver to also jam his brakes, further provoking him. Finally, the cam car driver came to a stop and got out of his car to give the Camry driver an earful while using his phone to record his confrontation as evidence. Likewise, the Camry driver also used his mobile device to record the cam car driver. The cam car driver claims that the Camry driver spewed vulgarities and made explicit hand gestures to the cam car driver. Somehow, I find it strange that the Camry driver tailed the cam car all this way, only to remain in his car when the cam car driver got out of his car to confront him. Netizen Comments Seems like the cam car driver ain't no angel either. The Camry driver in a nutshell. . The Camry driver better ensure his high beam lever is not broken after this incident🤣 All I can say is that it takes two hands to clap! ========= Be the first to get the latest road/ COE news and get first dibs on exclusive promos and giveaways in our Telegram SGCM Community. 11. Errant cyclists on the road are enough to infuriate drivers. However, what's worse is meeting an oblivious errant cyclist. And I guarantee they will trigger you, just like what happened in this video: What Happened? While driving along Dunearn Road towards the City, the cam car driver encountered a cyclist clad in a pink shirt and a black backpack cycling in the middle of the road. Obviously, the cyclist woke up that day and chose not to give a damn by deciding to cycle in the dead of night without any lights or helmet. From a distance, the cam car driver started to flash his high beam at the cyclist to warn other motorists of his presence while also signalling to the cyclist that he (the cam car) was approaching. As the cam car driver closed up behind the cyclist, he started spamming his horn at the cyclist to show his displeasure towards the cyclist. The cyclist responded with some hand gestures to the cam car driver, likely indicating to the driver to go ahead and use lane 1 to overtake him. It was at this point that the cam car driver had enough and decided to give the cyclist a piece of his mind: In all honesty, the cyclist deserved to be reprimanded for his actions. If he chose to cycle on the road in the dead of night, the least he could do was to wear a helmet and attach some lights to the bicycle. And also, lose the earpiece - You can't hear shit if you have music blasting into your ears. Netizens' Comments You also missed out on the requirement of wearing a helmet and having lights to the front and rear while cycling on the road at night. Cam car driver definitely seized the opportunity and gave the cyclist a free session with no holds barred! 12. Regardless of what car you drive, you will naturally be annoyed when others hit, ding or even touch your car. Do you know what's worse? When someone shoves close your car's electrical side mirror while you are in the car: What Happened? The cam car driver heard a "thud" sound coming from his left side while he was chilling inside his car. Lo and behold, the GrabFood driver that parked his car next to the cam car driver had forcefully closed the cam car's electrical side mirror so he could squeeze between both cars. After realising what had happened, the following conversation took place between both parties: Can you imagine how much better the world would be if everyone were considerate and minded their actions? Netizens' Comments Report to Grab got use meh? Come, I help you fold your electric side mirrors manually. See if you shiok or not! OOF! This is funny😂 ========= Be the first to get the latest road/ COE news, and get first dibs on exclusive promos and giveaways in our Telegram SGCM Community. Join us today!
  13. Another day, another, uh, video that showcases the ugly side of Singapore. Welcome to 2021, people. 2020 was less than a pleasant year, so this writer is sure most people would like to leave all that unhappiness behind and start the year on a fresh note, without conflict, anger, agony, and just general headache. Basically, take a chill pill. Unfortunately, we have here one of our first candidates for idiot of the year, 2021 edition. My friend, it is not even the end of the first week of January, and you are already causing such a ruckus over a matter so trivial? Please, do everyone a favour, go back to 2020 and stay there. The matter seems to have risen from the security guards requesting the food delivery rider to park his bike at a less disruptive or perhaps more agreeable place, with the location of the incident being the Marina One building at Straits View. By now, it should be more or less known that the security guards at buildings in the CBD can be a little more stringent than their counterparts in other parts of Singapore. But ultimately, they're at the bottom of the food chain, having to enforce the instructions that have been laid out to them. But still, a little give and take is usually enough for everyone to settle on an amicable solution should one need to stop their vehicle at one of these buildings in the CBD. Talking nicely to everyone helps, too. Well, this guy obviously did not get the memo. Not only was his tone extremely aggressive, he continually raised his voice at the security officers who were trying their best to keep their cool and maintain the situation the best they could. But oh no, Mr Polite was having none of it. If this writer were to reproduce some of the words and phrases shouted out by the raging delivery guy, well, this writer would be in a world of trouble, and then some. Simply put, the security guards were trying to deescalate the situation, calm everyone down, let life move on. But no, Mr Angry just kept shouting, and shouting, and shouting, even at one point disparaging one of the security guard's educational qualifications. Perhaps Mr Angry should look back at what he learnt in driving school, because he continually insists that he is allowed to park on the double yellow line and that "with LTA, there is a grace period of 10 minutes". My friend, if you bothered to do a simple Google search of "double yellow line Singapore", one of the first results to pop up is from the LTA site OneMotoring with photographic instructions about how there should be "no parking on this side of the road at all times, except for immediate pick-up and drop-off only". I do want to know where angry delivery rider got his information about LTA giving 10 minutes grace because I have never heard of such a grace period. Perhaps angry delivery guy is smoking something real good and distorting all the facts and information of daily life around him. To this writer, the more the delivery guy rages, the deeper the hole of stupidity he digs for himself. But yes, the security guards could have been a little more understanding, perhaps, but if you, rage monster, didn't raise your voice at them and started filming them with your phone, this matter could have been resolved a lot more amicably. This writer also wonders if the angry delivery rider has read the comments, because the comments are all bashing him and his behaviour. And lastly, at the end of the video, the security guards say "thank you", turn their backs and start walking away. Basically, they are disengaging from the situation because talking to stupid people is obviously tiring. But no, Mr Angry still wants the last word, and starts gesticulating with his hand in various "kung fu" hand positions and continues his verbal tirade. It's a good thing the guards don't bother responding. My friend, this writer advises you to get therapy, because it seems like you need it. Or if that doesn't work, a long walk off a very short pier. 😏
  14. The Straits Times http://www.straitstimes.com Published on Jan 09, 2014 Crowd of 100 refused to leave Rex Cinema after movie premiere was cancelled By Tessa Wong A crowd of more than 100 people, mostly foreign workers, refused to leave Rex Cinemas at Mackenzie Road, after the theatre cancelled the premiere of a movie on Thursday night. The police were called in after some in the crowd apparently began shouting at cinema staff when screening of the Tamil movie, Veeram, was abruptly cancelled. They had lined up for more than six hours. Two patrons, Mr Suresh Veerasamy, 29, and Mr Tamal Shanmugam, 28, both construction workers, said they got in line at 6am on Thursday for tickets. The cinema had sold tickets for a 9pm and a 12.15am screening. Both workers took the day off work to catch the movie, and said they lost $70 in wages for the day. "I am very disappointed. I don't want a refund. I just want to watch it," said Mr Shanmugam.
  15. Dear all V.W and Skoda owner... For the records I do not work for C&C or CA but rather I have friends in both said company I high-jet this email from vagsg.com by ghoonk and made some changes as we share his view that we should work hand in hand and not against 1 another... after all you have nothing to lose for we are only trying to help and we are not asking for a fee or anything for the help we offer... But the catch here is we will not made any visual contact but we keep in touch via Pm we think we are all in agreement that this is the first time in forum history that some1 has made contact from the agent side openly, and that instead of approaching this from a confrontational manner, we should see how we can really use this forum for what it was meant to be - a channel for two 'opposing' parties to share their points of view. It should not, and will never be (admins ensure that) a place for a one-sided perspective or for people to make unfounded judgements. Historically, management at C&C and CA has not taken kindly to forums such as yours, believing that you people are nothing but troublemakers. Looking forward, as visionary as it sounds, we really hope to take this opportunity for your forum to work with us and resolve such issues before they come out into the open, lot of people in this forum complain about service from CA and C&C. but some we do not agree with all of the accusations, but without a point of view from the dealer perspective (not just CA and C&C), there is nothing we have available to base a defence when people complain. However, we would like to work out a collaborative and informal arrangement with your forum, perhaps we can as a 3rd party 'mystery' representative to help clarify such matters or to try to set records right. We will, on our part, manage complaints and bring them to attention so misconceptions can be resolved offline. Trust us, we do not want to give potential buyers and new owners the impression that they had made a bad buying choice. Rather than continue on this way, we sincerely hope to be able to work with you on proactively addressing service issues as far as possible, or at least to be able to present the point of view from your perspective. We believe that many forumers do not understand the business of the automotive trade. But such an approach, while time-consuming, Can helps to put our worlds back on a path of collaboration rather than confrontation. No one has anything to gain if people keep continue b@*@#*#$g about our service, and if C&C and CA people think you are a bunch of p_^* trying to get people in trouble. Neither outcome works for you or us, so we really hope you all would consider our offer. We have taken the 1st step in hoping that we can make every VW and skoda owner a more happy 1, please help us to help or service you better... Thank you and regards Ngage
