  7. See so many drivers don't even signal while changing lane ! Heard myths : 1) New Cars out of the factory , Signal system not install. 2) Drivers change car from japanese to conti. , forgot the signal stick is on the left. 3) The sound the tick bother some of the drivers. scared of the tick anymore myths u guys heard of ?? care to share ?
  8. Today I was exiting from the roof top carpark when I noticed the above scenario. The car was blocking the exit and any SUV or MPV would probably have problems coming out as the space to manoeuvre is limited. The purpose of this thread is not to target at the brand or make but a question which apply to Auto car relying heavily on electronics. As most and more cars relied heavily on it, my understanding that it is still possible to disengage foot/hand brake then put gear to neutral and push the vehicle. Or maybe for this case, it is not advisable as if I am in the same situation, I would push it aside. Appreciate any clarifications on whether one should attempt to push stalled car aside if it is obstructing others. TIA.
  9. I'm just curious why Ford is categories as Continental car?? Isn't it a American ride?? Manufactured in Germany doesn't meant it is a Continental car right??
  10. Read on BT today: VW, Toyota, Merc, Audi , BMW, Mazda, Kia, Hyudai, Chevy, Opel, Volvo, Jag got together on Tues to see how they collectively kpkb to the gahmen about all the rapid policy changes made recently. Interesting to note that not juz the conti not happy, seems like even jeepun and kimchi oso pissed off. Well done LTA.....again! Sorry hor, cannot find url link so this will do for now:
  11. Need some feedback on which of these 4 Conti brand (Sedan <2,501cc) comes with RH drive lights & wiper level? Audi, BMW, Merc & Volvo. Thanks in advance.
  12. Since there has been a lot of discussion on this... thought of taking a poll. Sorry if I have missed out your favourite Conti AD but can't possibly name them all . Also, maybe someone should start a worst service poll !
  13. Hey bros out there ! I am sharing my experience. For those who plan to buy conti car like BMW or others. Used car i am referring to. Most people put this consideration in 1st piority when they decide to buy Big Car. 1. You can afford to make downpayment. 2. You can afford to pay monthly installment. 3. You can afford to pay insurance. 4. You can afford to pay road tax. In the road , you can see alot of Merc, BMW . These 2 are the most common in singapore which is affordable. Usually you make downpayment like $15k-$20 you can buy one 2000cc . In house-loan usually will accept. When people said high maintainance costs for conti car. It is true. In most cases, people can afford to purchase them but when problem kick in ... their pocket is burn a Huge hole and for many people cannot afford to pay for the repair/ replacement costs. Every CAR , problems kick in after 5years mark. every issue start coming in every year or so. Don't think that you won't be so sway / unlucky. This issues is the life span of those parts, is not you lucky or not. Problem can easily hit $3000 to over $10,000 repair costs. Gear Box issue most commonly ( huge costs ). Seriously you earn $10,000 - $20,000 per month , even you can afford to pay for the repairs. Is it worth it? For those who earn lower than this amount then good luck to you! According to my regular workshop boss , he told me that alot of people can afford to buy bmw or merc but when repair time come ..... they can't afford to pay the amount and end up selling it away. BMW compare to Merc benz , Merc benz is a better choice , they are much durable. BMW are not designed for long distance drive , like going to genting , kl ...etc Ofcourse you can drive but your parts worn out faster than you think ! I driven before Merc benz , BMW 3 series , 5 series , lexus and others. I have tested myself and my bmw came back singapore and straight back to my workshop for repair. If you need a luxury car , choose Lexus . When it come down to repair , I guarantee you that the repair costs compare to conti repair is a huge surprise for you ! Toyota lexus repair can use any other toyota parts which means is much much cheaper. GS350 model. 250 model not all parts suitable. Everyone understand Houses is Profit , Car is Loss . We need car , some need big some need small , no matter what we are trying to save as much as we can ! Drive Safe , Think Smart ! Enjoy guys ! Hope you like it !
  14. Anyone have any idea which of the continental tyres comes with the conti silent? www.sgcarmart.com/news/article.php?AID=8568
  15. Hi guys, Looking to get a used conti sedan/ SUV (~3 yrs old). My main criteria is: 1. Comfort and space (can seat 5 average sized adults comfortably) 2. value for money (vis a vis other comparable makes) 3. Reliable & maintenance free (again, vis a vis other comparable makes) Appreciate your comments/ recommendations! Current ride is a cefiro 2.3 v6. Thanks!
  16. Dun know why, I notice most drivers driving conti nv put on their safety belt... Why izzit so?
  17. Anyone know why conti car like Renault, BMW, Merc etc. can have longer servicing interval like 15k or 20k whereas Jap/Korean cars only 10k? Is it bcos the engine block is of better quality?
  18. Hi guys, My dad is looking to upgrade from his 08 Honda CRV to a conti ride..so we went to test drive a few models yesterday. From the high end luxury to the mass luxury. My dad been a CRV owner since more than 10yrs ago (3rd CRV already). Need space for lagguages since travelling at least once a month overseas. He lately also caught the conti bug. I guess its about time also since he already worked hard almost half his life and alot of his kakis changing to MB, BMW and Porsche Panamera so he also gian (cannot lose face value). haha Lets say $$ is no issue here.. Porsche Cayenne / Porsche Panamera - Think my dad heart is to this.. this is like a volatile blue chip.. Cayenne would be an easy choice..since its size is similar to CRV and more practical. Panamera can only sit 2 pple at the rear..this car is really superb! Vertu styling centre console for front and back seats. Comfortable and super responsive drive. Both cars come with a hefty price tag. Can buy a MB with enough change to buy a few Rolex. Merc E class 250 Avantgarde / new CLS - Stable, very comfortable ride..cruising is very solid. Stable blue chip like singtel and also the most common on the roads. CLS can only sit 2 person and the rear.. Lexus - not so interested. If for me...i will pick the Panamera still.. Btw, is buying a MB from a PI recommended? My worry is the warranty though the cheaper price tag 20-30k.. I told my dad to buy from C&C...PI warranty will give you s--t..
  19. My fren just bought a 2.5 year old conti car with six months left on the warranty, his next servicing is due in 3 months time, cost of 60k servicing is about 800 to 1000, and according to the stupid service agent, down time is 2 days as 60k is consider major servicing, my fren is wondering if he should go back agent or do it outside as he is worried that if there are any problems after the warranty period he can still bring it back to agent citing that he been servicing all the while at AD, however would agent honour any defective parts after warranty period even though he been doing routine servicing there? Thanks for your constructive advice!
  20. Dear all I am actually looking to replace my current 195/60/R15 CPC2 but it seems like there is not stock in the market right now, to special indent in will cost $155/pc . Does anyone know of similiar tyre with performance/ratings similiar to the CPC2? I like CPC2 for its quietness and grip in the wet.
  21. Hi guys, I have recently bought a audi a4 from PA, just a normal mu version 1.8t. Was previously contemplating between the 320i, c180, volvo s60 and is250. Really liked the is250 in terms of overall package and comfort but eventually couldn't resist the allure of the led lights haha. Just want to check with the audi drivers here, I heard there is a way to chip up the car to 200+ bhp, would any a4 drivers here like to share on the issues or experiences you have when chipping ur ride? fun/sad/technical bit of it, will be most happy to hear! cheers! :)
  22. Hi there, It's almost time for me to change tyres... Can't really decide among the 4, what's your recommendation? I need good wet holding and if possible, not too noisy.. I'm running on 235/40/ R18
  23. hi bros, i need advice from bros here with conti experience. I am thinking of switching car to a conti car if it fits into my budget and I am looking for car which is more then 5 years on the road. Can the bros here advice me on what are the things to look out for while searching for this type of 2nd hand cars? I am currently eyeing on some bimmers and VW that is available on the 2nd hand market but I will also jump at the change of own an audi or a merc if there is any. I read so much pros and cons about the realibility and spare parts or maintance which is also a main concern of mine coz i dont know what to expect for this type of cars which is this old. Hopefully I can get some direction from bros here. P/S my history of owning cars are rather young. I only managed to own a honda and a hyundai so far. thank u bros in advance who take their time and patient to answer my noob questions.
